At the words, he laughed. But his words seemed to be caught in the hallow of Hadrian's neck. He tasted the skin there, licking, nibbling, and with an abandon that could only come from mage nookie, his hand slipped between them with practiced ease.

"Marc isn't here." he said, as if this was all that mattered in the world. To see this man flushed and leave with the knowledge he had done it was one thing. But to be met with such low resistence? Thorn wondered if maybe the drug from before was so long lasting.

Or if this was the mage, in his purest form.

"I am."

With hand on wrist, the other touching the mage and his lips on Hadrian as well, he smirked.

Hadrian was going to be his, eventually.

The one thing about Hadrian that made something like this possible, was that the man simply was the sort that easily got attached to people. Even subconciously and unaware, no matter what was done to destroy such trust - it happened.

And though that drug may not have had long lasting effects...well, it allowed Thorn to get past his defences. And once someone was past his defences, they tended to stay there.

Hadrian's eyes snapped open as Thorn continued the attack on his senses, and he didn't know what finally gave him that push to do it, but he reacted.

He (attempted) to pull away, to slide to the side and get around Thorn. It wasn't as if he was dashing at full speed, but it was obvious that he was trying.

"I j-just can't.."

..Liar.

"Liar." he merely moved with Hadrian, using the opportunity of his movement to put on leg on the bench, it balanced him, made him a stronger form of resistence.

And it also put certain parts of the mage's anatomy at close contact with the devious (rapist) businessman. His hands worked on Hadrian's shirt, unbottoning, undoing whatever there was to an extent that he could slip one hand in.

"Liar." he murmured again, the word soft as he nudged the mage. "I can feel you."

His words were not crude, but it touched the borderline of it as he smirked.

Shuddering, Hadrian was trapped against the hedge and bench on one side - and a man with far too friendly hands on the other. And the further Thorn got, the more he felt the urge to run away -

But there was the little problem of his own body betraying him, and Thorn not backing off. The only way to get the man to stop likely would be a more forceful refusal. But...Hadrian couldn't seem to will himself to do that.

There was just this unconcious, barely noticable feeling that with Thorn, he couldn't get away. It was a silly thing, but...well, it was difficult to reason with emotions.

Tilting his head downwards, his hair slid forward and hid his face partially from view.

After, after all of it was done and enjoyed, noises smothered by kisses and hands, Thorn smiled, eyes gleaming with a sated lust and satisfaction. This time the man hadn't been under any influence at all, and look. Look at them. One hand idly stroking the mage, he rolled his shoulders, like a man who was rising from slumber.

"Fantastic." he purred, the word scratchy as he used the opportunity to show just what he had been admiring so much. The naked air was cool, the maze had hidden enough, and sitting there, Thorn knew that while physically his body might complain the entire day for the rough treatment, well. He was too happy to care.

One hand moving, teeth nipping, he was smirking as he looked into the face of the one who kept giving in. This, was in Thorn's book a new record. Especially with the prudish mage.

"I had a good time."

Hadrian was in a state of shock. He had actually gone through with it, let Thorn carry it on. And the only thing he could feel beyond that shock, was a sort of shame. Shame and disgust at himself, for giving in to the other man.

And hearing Thorn say such a thing, that he had enjoyed it when all Hadrian could feel was that shame - it sickened him. Because his body had enjoyed it, certainly; Thorn was very good at what he had done, that much he knew. But...

Well, there had been a fine line of consent.

His only response to Thorn's comment, was to look away. Then - it was almost spastic, the way he just rose to his feet, and replaced his clothing - and began to walk away, his head down and hair hiding his expression.

He couldn't just sit there with Thorn. Even if he didn't know the way out, he was going to find it.

Thorn was carefully to put his clothing on, brushing out folds that might have appeared. It was just slightly angry at the leaving- he would train that out of the mage though, eventually.

The thought had him smile. A part of him felt sorry for Marc. He loved the man like a brother now, and it did hurt to know that he would be hurting him. But questionable morals aside, this was much, much more fun.

And it was with that, that he decided to give the mage some time before followiing.

The air smelled like them, and as he slicked his hair back and adjusting the cuffs of his shirt, he decided he liked it, very much. One day, Hadrian would be his.

But he could give the man space, for now.

Thankfully, it didn't take the mage long to locate the exit. If he had gotten any more lost, he would have just started blasting the hedges - Dacian's fondness for them be damned.

As he exited, he immediately aimed for the labs. Hadrian could just - lock himself in his office, give himeslf time. And as he hurried, he kept his head down in the hopes that nobody was there - and if they were, he didn't want to stop and talk. So hopefully they wouldn't stop him if they did see him.

And with his hands still clenched in fists by his side, alongside his rumpled and disarrayed clothing, he entered the lab building.

Marc was, coming home from work and had taken the long route when he saw Hadrian leave the maze looking rumpled and worse for wear. He found it amusing, and he would have called out except he was too far to be seen by the mage- had the man gotten lost, fall into a nap while in it? He could very well imagine the first, and so he decided to raise it later, to have a tour together of the maze at night, when someone else walked out.

Some part of his body stiffened. His shoulders maybe, or his neck. His hands did, forming fists as he stared with incredulous eyes as Thorn stepped out too. He looked perfectly fine, normal and Marc was soon thinking that perhaps, maybe, Thorn hadn't bumped into Hadrian at all. He didn't look as messed up as Hadrian had.

But he saw the eyes. He knew that expression, the one of thriumph and satisfaction that entered whenever he had succeeded in seducing unwilling prey. Before, a long time ago, Marc would have joked about it with him too, making bets.

But Marc was not in a joking mood. Not now. Hesitantly, before he could stop himself he moved into the shadows. What would be worse? Confronting the man and having it all out, or staying here, and pretending nothing had happened?

Privately, Marc was getting sick of the second idea. He had done it once, suggesting a compromise with Hadrian, a way to move their relationship foreward. It was laughable, now that he saw Thorn.

How long had this been going on?

Whatever decision he was about to make was lost, taken from him whe Thorn turned and his eyes lighted up on his form. "Marc." he mouthed the word, smile deepening. Both knew too much about the other's character for it to be safe.

"Marc." he said, approaching the man. "I know you have a bottle or two of the finest bourbon at home. Why don't we open a bottle, and talk?

Marc agreed because he didn't know what else to do.

"Do you keep the alcohol in the same place?"

Through the din of of thoughts too loud for him to distinguish, he nodded his head, hearing the question like a soft murmur. Thorn moved immediatly to the high counter, reaching behind the lukewarm bottles of water to pull out a neat bottle of expensive bourbon. There was another one in there, so he pulled it out too.

"Will you get the cups while I get the ice?"

His words were so every day, no hint of emotion as to what might have happened to the maze. But Marc needed that, needed some sense of normalcy as he reached for the glasses.

Crash.

One slipped from his hand, and immediatly Thorn walked over, taking the man by the shoulder and the hand like a concerned friend, moving him towards the counter. "Sit here." he said, and Marc obeyed.

It was easier, this way.

--

Later, music was on a soft murmur, a track playing soft, classical jazz that belonged at a bar. The lights had been dimmed so that it wouldn't hurt the eyes, but were bright enough that it didn't seem too smoky. Two classes of bourbon on the rocks, one with only a thin line of amber and the other more full, rested on the counter. There was only a couple of servings left to the bottle now, and the sweet, delicious scent of food fed the air.

For the past half hour, Marc had been sitting there, drinking. Quiet, staring into his hands as if the alcohol would give him answers to a question that loomed at the back of his mind. Thorn had ignored this, pouring the drink and preparing dinner for them both.

He had turned on the music too, moving with ease through the apartment. He had never been inside, like this. But he knew Percy, and he knew Marc. So it hadn't take long to find what he needed.

"Stir fry okay?" he had asked, but Marc only continued to nod.

--

The first bottle of bourbon was gone in the next hour. Food was prepared and both were eating, sitting across each other on the island in the kitchen with soft words passing between them.

"Do you remember the first day we met?"

Marc looked up, startled. "Of course. I was working for Biotech, and you threatened me." the alcohol had loosened his mind enough that he was willing to talk, that he could look over what had happened.

"I did not threaten you." he responded playfully, laughing. "I hired you."

Marc laughed then. Memories, the past. They were easier to deal with. "I don't think so. I think old age has worn your mind down. Remember? You said. 'I want you to work for me, or else I'll make sure you don't find another job for the rest of your life."

Thorn smiled. "See?" he said. "I did hire you."

--

"Remember, that woman? Gloria?"

The food was touched, well worked into. And Marc let out a groan. "Oh, don't talk about her." he said, waving his fork empathically. He stopped to reach over and pour some bourbon into Thorn's drink. "She was such a hag."

"But a beautiful one." Thorn remininsced. "Remember, the way her breasts would..." he motioned, and Marc laughed. It was the same easy laugh from when they were younger.

"I knew you'd get her." he said, smiling.

"I always do." he reminded Marc.

Marc stopped smiling and reached for the bottle.

--

"We were so good together." Thorn reached for Marc's plate and took it away, nodding. "What happened?"

"We were too similar." Marc was smiling, staring into his glass. One and a half bottles, but Thorn had an amazing tolerance level, and Marc wasn't too bad himself. "I think."

"I know." he said, sighing with regret as he placed the dishes in the dishwater. "But we still care for each other."

Marc looked up. "Like brothers."

Thorn laughed. "Like brothers."

--

Thorn poured them both another glass each, and he nodded. "Do you want to talk now?"

Marc looked up, and smiled crookedly. "No." he said. "I don't."

"Yes you do."

"Yes I do."

Quietly, they stood next to each other, shadows merging because of the light.

"I care for him deeply, you know." Marc confessed quietly.

"I know."

"Did you ******** him?"

"Twice."

"Today?"

"No, once before. But he was drunk."

"Oh."

"And then we went to a resteraunt together. Today though, he wasn't. He did think of you though. I think he was ashamed."

"Really?"

Thorn nodded. "Do you love him?"

Marc looked over, and it was on the tip of his tongue to say yes. "You're going to try to take him away from me."

Thorn nodded. "Do you mind?"

"Of course I do."

--

A little later, five, ten minutes? Marc got up and moved unsteadily to the couch. He sat there, and Thorn joined him. Immediatly the man sighed.

"Do YOU love him?"

Thorn laughed. It was an easy laugh between friends. "No. But he's intriguing."

"He is that."

And they sat next to each other in companionable silence, daring not to speak of what lay between them.

The entire day, he had remained hidden in his office under the pretense of working...but he wasn't, not really. Hadrian hadn't been able to concentrate on anything, his mind fixed only on what had occurred earlier that day.

Just 'shame' - that would be putting it mildly. The mage felt almost sick with it, to the point where he was nervous that even seeing Marc was going to make even more guilt rear up.

But, finally, the man had decided to stop brooding and go home. Marc was off tonight...he'd probably be concerned if Hadrian simply didn't return this night. And, yes it was rather late - but hopefully that just meant there wouldn't be any conversations.

So, swallowing his apprehensions, Hadrian entered Marc's apartment.

((And finds - dun dun dun...))
PostPosted: Sat Jul 22, 2006 7:36 am

At the sound of the door opening, Marc looked up from where he had been staring at the wall across him. This amount of drinking had given him a pleasant buzz, and so the menial of tasks had taken a fascinating light. He turned, slowly, and Thorn got up, taking both their glasses to the sink. If he had guessed it right, he knew who it was that would be coming in through that door.

"I'll go, let you sleep." Thorn said kindly, looknig over at Marc who only waved a hand at him in response. He couldn't see the door from the couch, and while he had turned to look, Thorn had been in his way then.

"I'll see you tomorrow at work." he responded listlessly, to which he replied.

"Take the day off, Marc."

He placed the drinks in the sink, and walked towards the door. He arched a brow, smiling tightly. His eyes said they knew what Hadrian had done, but his smile was more superior then that.

Like a man who had won.

"Good evening." he said, inclining his head, looking back towards Marc.

When Hadrian entered the apartment, the sight that greeted him had not been what he expected at all.

Marc, yes.

But not Thorn.

And he hadn't expected to see Marc with his back to the door in an almost stubborn manner - as if he was refusing to look at it. At him. As the mage remained by the door, his eyes glued to his lover's back, there was only one thing that could explain the reaction, and why Thorn was here.

Thorn told him. All he'd have to tell him to get this kind of reaction, was the truth, and...

Then Thorn passed by him, and that smile, those eyes - it all made his fear claw it's way from his belly to his throat, and he shifted his own gaze, almost panicked, to Marc.

Marc was still staring the other way - what if...

Well, what if's of many varieties were running through his head. But he didn't speak, no; it felt like that fear of his had stuck there, refusing to let any words through.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 22, 2006 8:06 pm

Marc heard Thorn leave, because he heard the door lock itself again. And he was sure, quite sure that the man standing in his room hadn't left because he could still feel him. It was like a presence, standing behind his back with the barest inclination of too much emotion and spite. Alright. So maybe his mind was making up the last bit, but he was so comfortable on the seat that he didn't really want to get up.

Not yet.

"If you're going to come in." he said finally. "Find a seat. We've got some bourbon left. Although..." staring at his glass, he tried to focus. "I don't think it's a good idea for me to have any more."

His words were just on this side of slurred, but maybe it wasn't the alcohol. Maybe it was the fact that he was here, again. Marc couldn't think of his name right now. Because it made things more real.

So he sat there, closing his eyes and trying to will the situation away. It might work, right? He had been fine, with Thorn. Pretending nothing had happened but not wanting to look like a p***y by crying. He was fine now, right? His voice was calm, and...

Well. He couldn't look at the man. But that was given, considering what he knew about him.

Hadrian padded over to a chair and sat down, his eyes still frozen on the back of Marc's head, taking note of the slurred voice as he did so. Marc drank, yes - but not normally enough to intoxicate him to that extent. And he had a pretty good idea of what had caused this little indulgence.

Why couldn't he say anything? Shouldn't he be trying to head Marc off, to convince him that....

What, that he hadn't been with Thorn? That would be a lie. And Marc would know it.

"I...I don't think it's such a good idea for me to drink any, either."

He was proud of himself: his voice didn't waver too much. The strain was audbile however, making it clear how strong his emotions were.

Why couldn't he seem to get things right? Marc invites him to move in, and the first thing he does is cheat on the man. And the chill he felt seemed to be warning him that he had irreversably ruined things, this time.
