Wordstreamer~Nifty Fairy~ Jing the King of Bandits Lord Thatlatu of the Tofu Tavreynya I don't get stressed because I never do anything! Ever! Just ask Minaiya how much time I spend every day spinning my chair around and singing about pirates. Well, actually, she isn't at my house often enough to know that, so I'll give you a hint: at least two hours. @kids: This reminds me of an argument I once had with a girl a year older than me; we'd known each other online for awhile and then she disappeared abruptly, only to return and IM me with something like this... Her: You're so immature! And you're such a poser! You're always going around saying "look at me, I'm so smart, I'm so mature." Me: You haven't talked to me in a year. You don't know that. Her: Yes I do! Because I saw the chat you had with [mutual friend] and you said "merf!" That's so immature! Me: :harbors fondness for meaningless words: :vein-pop: You think so? Her: Yeah! Act your goddamn age for once! Me: :is 13, at the time: :barely controlled ire: ...Fascinating. :blocks her: Her: :contacts me on another sn: See? That's exactly what I mean! You're always using long-a** words like "fascinating" to try to make yourself look smart! IT ISN'T WORKING BECAUSE YOU'RE USING IT WRONG! YOU'RE IMMATURE AND STUPID! Me: :stream of expletives: :blocks her: :doesn't go on AIM for a month: Guess I proved her point, in the end. But she thought "fascinating" was a long word and didn't understand sarcasm, so I still feel justified two years after the fact. Because I am still immature. mrgreen And that was a huge post. >_<lolwhatan00b! rofl Apparently "restlessness" and "irritability" are long words too. kapitalistenswein. That's a good-sized word. phenylketonurics. neurofibromatosis. If she thinks 12-letters is "long", she's gonna have some problems when she starts getting diseases and medical conditions. surprised Hey, you misspelled "Kapitalistenschwein"... Unless you weren't speaking german. In that case, it's spelled however you wanna spell it... @Tavreynya: I knew a couple girls like that. Somehow only girls, though... Maybe there are guys like that, but I don't think they would spill out all their emotions like that. They would hold it inside, until they've gathered enough anger to set it loose on random objects and people smaller than them... 3nodding I knew someone who did that too, but he never did it to the guy's face....... When you come around here, ask Andrew to introduce you to Brandon. Anyway....... Fascinating's a tiny word, and it was SARCASM. What kind of an idiot is that girl who can't understand SARCASM!?!?!? Oh I believe I'm quite aware of Andrew's good friend Brandon... wink *Runs off to Tav's basement for tea time...* ninja

People who don't get sarcasm annoy me almost as much as those who can't find irony and look for it in the wrong places
Like:
"omg I was walking down the street and there was a sign for WAFFLES in a PANCAKE restaurant! Isn't that ironic?"
Or
"This fisherman guy caught a fish that made him rich, but then he ate fish and got food poisoning and died! Isn't that IRONIC?"
NO, ********, IT'S NOT IRONIC!
IT'S JUST STUPID IN THE FIRST CASE AND FUNNY IN THE SECOND CASE!
SHUT UP!

*simmersimmer* This happened in a 10th-grade English class: Teacher: Who can define "irony?" Stupid girl 1: Well, it's like... it's like... Stupid girl 2: :singing: A BLAACK FLYYYY IN YOUR CHARDONNAY! Stupid girl 1: When... When something happens, and afterward you're like... Like, well, "that was so ironic," y'know? The sad part is, they had a better idea than most other sophomores I knew. This was advanced English, after all. :weeps emo tears of blood for the mother tongue: @Jing: Not the tea-ninjas!

Damn... stressed Anyway, I believe one learns a lot more about one's own language when living in other countries, or learns other languages. I, for one, am very knowledgeable when it comes to languages... wink Although I'm not sure if I woulda been were I to stay in the US... sweatdrop

I wrote a page about said original topic (which I realize is probably no longer the topic) a few weeks ago at work, and promptly lost it.

I blame kids.
Incidentally, I lost all faith in the youth of Hawaii in eighth-grade home economics when someone asked, "Is spaghetti a meat?"
