Kweu snorted, annoyed, and her ears went back slightly. "Family. I bet you're glad to have left young, huh?" she asked looking from one to the other. She didn't really understand the concept of family. In fact, in her mind, all families and packs were just like her own, even if they did look nice to outsiders. It was all a ruse, just to make themselves look good. Once the visitors left, things went back to normal. Hate. Scorn. Family. Each was synonymus to the others. She cocked her ears as Motu chirruped his agreement.

Damalis shifted uneasily at Kweu's agitated tone, supposing she had a less-then fabulous experience in the past. Though, she could brag about hers either. Being the runt of her some-what large litter, Damalis had basically been ignored, got the scraps of what ever food was left, not as much love or attention as her siblings... The fact that she had a completly different pelt color didn't help her much either. You could call her the ugly duckling of the group.
Sure she had something against them, but in the back of her mind there was a dim longing for the feeling of being around a family again. Obviously this wild dog's family was far worse then her own-- As far as she could tell.

Kweu's comments startled the young pup, not only the words, but the bitterness of her voice. Zin had never had what one would usually call a family, not one he remembers anyways. Ever since a very young age, he'd been out on his own, trying to survive in this world; he'd done pretty well too, considering that he'd been fortunate enough to escape almost all the situations he encountered in one piece. He's a good survivor it would seem, though luck had a considerable role also.
"..." The hyena pup mumbled. He wouldn't mind a family of some sort to be honest, though Kweu seems to think it would be better without.

Kweu tilted her head slightly at them. "Lost your tounges? You cannot expect me to believe that you think families are nice," she laughed bitterly. Her ears went back slightly at the memory. "Family's just another word for a group that's related to you. It's not like they actually care or anything. They're just looking for an oppurtunity to beat you into the ground and steal what little you have," she explained and for a moment thought she saw one of her brothers, towering over her as a shadow passed over the sun. She flinched and shut her eyes, lying down, putting her paws over her muzzle, and whimpering softly.

Damalis blinked, totally surprised at Kweu's bitter tone. Part of her wanted to agree with what she had said, then another part was screaming to say otherwise. The fur on her neck began to rise slightly, but as Kweu told the rest of her story, she relaxed herself a bit, though her mind was still whirling. She watched as the orange wild dog's body jerk and gave her a dim sympathetic look as she layed down and began to whimper.
Nudging her lightly with a paw, Damalis frowned as she imagined what Kweu's family was like. "What did they do to you?"

The hyena pup, on the other hand, was more alarmed then surprised as Kweu spat out those words. It was as if the orange wild dog was interrogating him for a wrong he had unwittingly committed. He knew that her anger was not directed by him, but shivered with nervousness nonetheless. There was a slight appologetic look in his face, as if sorry for wanting a family. Zin watched as the other sudden flinch, following her himself with a slightly reflexive twitch of his own, having thought that the other was in pain.
"Are you ok...?" he inquired after Kweu.

Kweu's ears fell and she shook her head slightly. "I don't want to be different. They won't listen. Momma won't see me and Poppa hates me and everyone hates me and they call me things, bad things, 'cause I'm different. They bite my tail and push me over and take my food and chase me away," she whined and a shudder passed through her. Her paws slowly moved from her muzzle and she looked up with haunted eyes. "But he's not really there, is he? I can't get away from them, no matter where I go, they're always there. Why won't they just leave me alone?" she asked the other two. She didn't understand pity, so she was confused by the looks they gave her and the tone of their voices. Motu never gave her pity, only logic. Sometimes that was helpful, but other times...

Dark ears drooped as Damalis took a seat closer to Kweu in attempt to be more comforting. "You're not the only one that's different..." Her voice trailed off a bit as she dropped her head. "My story is kind of similar. I was a different color then my parents and my siblings, nobody payed any attention to me, I slept alone-- It's like they didn't love me for some reason."
Eyes lifted for a moment to check, just to make sure that Kweu's brother really wasn't there. Shaking her head slowly, her gaze rested back on the orange wild dog. "No, he's not... But are they really following you?" A shiver slid down her spine, imagining what it must be like to be followed-- Or watched.

"Oh no..." the little hyena pup murmured to himself, oddly aware of his inexperience. He was young, still a pup, and even in his young age, Zin was aware of his limited resavoir of knowledge and experience. There were things he did not know, and experiences he had not experienced for himself; compared to himself, both Dama and Kweu were older and wiser. The hyena pup fidgited uncomfortably.
"Are there really such creatures in the world?" He said in a small voice. Is this what he had to look forward to?

Kweu shook her head and sat up. "They don't, and yet, they do. Everywhere I go I see them, in the shadows, in my dreams. They're not really there, but... In my mind..." she tried to explain and trailed off.
It never made any sense. How could she explain that her memory was exceptional? That she could remember things from her life to the smallest detail. No one really believed her and she couldn't very well give them an example, because they would say she was making it up or, if they had been present, say that they didn't remember that.
"There are, little one. I don't think there are many that aren't," she looked over to her friend as he said something of interest. When he had finished his point of view, she nodded and looked back to Zin. "Change the way things are, won't you? Be kind and make a new future?" she asked the pup, tilting her head slightly.

A strange expressionless look gleamed in her eyes as Damalis stared, ghost-like into the distance. "Like your nightmares, just real." She muttered darkly. "That's terrible..."
White paws slid forward slowly as her body lowered to the ground, it felt nice to take the weight off the feet for a while. Not taking her eyes off the distance, she listened quietly to the other's conversation.

Zin nodded slowly. "I sure will try..." he said with an air of uncertainty yet determination. Realistically, what was a small hyena pup like him going to change, really? Not much probably... Besides, people didn't seem to take his kind too seriously, he'd noticed. Something to do with their laughter the pup suspected. "Though they don't take me seriously most of the time," he gestured with a wave of his paw, "not the way I look anyhow..." The pup gestured to his small size and bushy tail.
Though this pup was certainly kind in nature. Though what life will make of him, no one is sure now. Zin had a good hear. A shame he was born a hyena though...

Kweu smiled slightly and rose a paw, placing it gently on the young hyena's head. "Don't worry so much. You'll grow and as long as you are good and kind you'll make a difference. Hopefully, there'll be others like you," she said and let her paw fall back to the ground. Her ears drooped a little and she nodded.
"A lot of people think I'm mad or something. I guess they could be right, but I just see things differently. It's never easy... but I try..."
