Lib..rary. :::Cora thinks a moment. Mm.. she'd heard the word used for a nostalgia cafe before. It sounded like a foriegn word, and Luke's explination was rather useless to her. She picked up a book and opened it:::
:::She noticed it had the same types of symbols as the one on her locket. She took it off and found a desk to set everything down at, and began compairing the two. She had already memorized the letters and the sounds that accompanied them in her name. She tried to find a word she could pronounce fully:::
can... or.. if... :::she grimmaced, none of the words were very important:::

I don't dare speculate.
Let's see if we can find a table.

*He finds Cora studying a small piece of jewelry. He blinks and stops in his search to walk over to her.*
What's got your eye, Slim?

*Bard makes sure she's comfortable, then takes a seat next to her. He opens the book between them to the first page. Typical of books of its kind there is a large capital 'A' followed by a lower case 'a', next to a picture of an apple, with the sentence. "A is for Apple." written beneath.*
This is the letter 'A'. it's the first letter of the alphabet. This is the Capital version. that's what you use at the start of a sentence, or of a name. The little one is a lower case letter. you use that everywhere else. *he looks at Maggie*
Don't worry about all the explanations, just remember that this is 'A' like 'Apple.'
Do you recognize if from your own name?

*studies the page intently, repeating to herself* A like Apple . . . A like Apple . . .
*pauses to picture her name in her mind, then nods* Aye, 'tis right towards the start of it.

*Luke blinked.*
Oh, I can read this.
*Luke illustriously cleared his throat.*
It says:
Officer Cora Serenis- There are two types of people- Those who change the world around them and those who are changed by the world around them. Be strong and find the courage to live your life as you want to. Remember that you always have friends in The Brink. Friends for all eternity. -Tavin
*He read slowly and articulately so that Cora could hear every word.*

*nods*
It's the first step. You've begun to read.
Now I'd like you to practice writing it... err.... *looks around*
We'll need some paper....

Mm...yes. Bard read it to me once before. I have been studying the letters on it at night, when I should be sleeping. But that is the only time I have without intrusion from others...but it is not my time to spend. I cannot spend too long, the lack of sleep will disrupt my performance. This is the language many people here read is it not?

*Luke ponders that.*
Good question. I haven't really thought about it. *He looks over at Bard.* I can see he does. But he also knows about lacrosse......
*For the first time, Luke realizes that Bard has responded to many of the same things from his own time period....*
Just a second....
*walks over to Bard*
Hey, man. Sorry to interrupt. But....what year are you from?

*spots a smaller shelf closer to the tables that seems to be filled with notebooks and writing utensils* Oh, over there. *rises to get them*
