Day After Fool Moon (begin cosplay hopefuls RPs)
Remus dragged himself towards the headquarters, only barely noticing the extra activity all around. Though his robes were freshly clean & smelled of being recently laundered, he himself looked awful. Large bags were under his eyes, but were next to nothing against the many bites & scratches marring his chocolate brown pelt. Some were deeper than others, but any knowledgeable eye could see that they had been recently treated while a trained eye knew some were more than a day old.

Bouncing around him, the teen Chroma barked & yipped excitedly, just glad her 'brother' was with her again. "We're gonna have fun, Aren't we Remy? So many kitsu around to play with!"

"Remus." He tried to give a gentle smile with the reminder, but even that caused him to wince in pain. Still... it might be less crowded & less over-sympathetic here than at home tonight. As much as he had appreciated it -being cared for all day- Remus realized he also needed time to remind himself he was also capable of taking care of himself.

(Spidey & Hiei -cosplay hopefuls- fighting)

They had not even entered the HQ yet when Remus noticed Chroma's attention diverted. Seeing the kitsu posed in pre-fight readiness his eyes narrowed & he nipped at the bright teen's ruff. "Come along now. Don't make me carry you like a kit."

More worried that Remus would follow through his threat & hurt himself than of the threat itself, Chroma meekly ducked her happy tails & pouted into a position beside the adult kitsu. "Okay..." Of course that did not stop her from casting wide-eyed, curious glances to watch the fight begin.

The sight of webs & flames almost distracted Chroma to leave Remus' side. Luckily for her, he too had paused to watch the strange fight with some interest. He sighed in resignation, finding a soft bed of moss to rest upon. "I suppose we can watch from a distance. If you promise me not to leave my side so that if their magic comes to close I can apparate the two of us safely away."

The bright blue swirl on her rump appeared to spin as all three of Chroma's tails moved happily at once. "Okay!"

Next Day
(coming upon Spidey (CH), Sarah (CH), Sir Didymus (CH), Naruto (CH) & Gypsy)
Chroma yawned, bumping into her brother's side as she stretched herself awake. The moment her eyes started to open they flew open with happiness. There were more kitsu about! & Gypsy was there too! Joy! She bounded over to join them, tails flicking happily. "Gypsy! Hihi! What's that!" Then to the others: "I'm Chroma! Pleased to meet you!"

Jostled by the teen's over-exuberant waking, Remus winced & opened one eye slightly to view the goings-on. At least the fight was over. It was not as imperative for Chroma to stay by his side. Careful of his many wounds, Remus repositioned himself slightly to ease his sore body.

Spidey eyed Naruto witheringly but kept his mouth shut. Obviously he had missed on some of the basics of ninjitsu that even moviegoers should know. Oh well. He focused on the macaw-kit as she began to play with the webbing ball. Like her caretaker, she seemed to have a quick temper, so he lowered the ball just a bit so she could catch it if she really wanted to. The entry of a new, teenage kitsu made Spidey's mind spin. "Itsa web ball," he offered to answer Chroma's question, though he doubted she noticed. "An unseen labyrinth?" Some sort of cloaking technology, or sorcery?

Sarah shakes her head. "Its there, its visible, why can't you all see it?" She stares around, looking panicky.

Didymus leans over to Spidey. "Shh! She ran last time some one commented!"

Gypsy snatchs it away with a well timed hop and she gives a muffled chirp as thank you to Spidey before turning and trotting up to Naruto and places it at his feet, chirping at him "Naruto baby play!!!"

Naruto huffs as he folds his arms in front of him, turning his nose up to her "I'm not a baby squirt!!! My names Naruto!!!" he says loudly, but looks down as she pushes her head into his stomach and he smiles as she chirps up at him

Gyspy grabs the web ball and starts to bound around with it, much like she had with the kunai and she hides behind Spidey, peeking out from behind him, as if saying "Come and get me!"

"ooo! " Chroma's head bobbed, following it with more than her eyes. "Web balls are neat!" In a flash she was lightly running after Gypsy to see if she could play too.

The talk of this "Labyrinth" intrigued Remus. Though his eyes did not open any more, his brow quirked & he listened to learn more. I wonder what kind of magic this is, if the female can see it but seemingly none of the rest of us can.

Spidey blinked at Didymus and nodded. Hooboy... He grinned as Gypsy took off with the webbing ball and later ran around behind him to hide. He smiled down at her slyly then glanced back up at Naruto wondering if he would rise to the bait.

Chroma he watched too, the joyous children's laughter infectious and drawing out a few chuckles of his own.

Naruto, still something like a kid at heart, darts after the baby and laughs as she bounds away, but winces as she sqauwks at new comer, but he continues the playful chase

Gypsy squeals happily at Chroma, and runs from both of them, wings flapping and tails flying behind her, web ball in mouth

Sarah whimpers quietly "Don't you see it.....?"

Spidey watched the two youngsters play with the web ball for a few moments. It was nice to see Gypsy so happy, after his bumbling attempt to help earlier. He glanced back at Sarah. "You'll find your brother..." he said softly.

Gypsy hides behind chair, but her ears perk as she hears someone calling her, probably Helen and she darts off out the door

Naruto, confused why Gyspy ran out, chases after her, shouting "Hey, get back here, you're not old to be running around by yourself!!

Sarah looks at Spidey, and shakes. "I... I have to... its my fault!"

Giggling, Chroma chases after Gypsy... up to the point of her going out the door. Then she frowns, tossing a glance back at her 'sleeping' big brother. She can feel Remus' eyes upon her & sighs. So much for fun.

Though he cannot see the magic that might be making or keeping this alleged Labyrinth, Remus can see that either Sarah is telling the truth, or she is mad. Choosing the notion that she is telling the truth, he sighs & forces himself to stand. Pain washes across his face but dims after a moment. With soft steps he pads towards her. "Is it magic, this Labyrinth? For if it is, it is quite possible it would be visible to some but not to others."

Sarah stares and Remus, then takes a tentative, hopeful step towards him. "You... do you see it?" Her voice is tremulous. "He built it, the Goblin King, to keep us out... He took Tobey, and its my fault!" She collapses, sobbing now, into her dress.

Taken aback, Remus pauses before nuzzling her gently with his head. He does not wish to lie to her, so simply avoids directly answering her question for the moment. "I know magic, and magic can be used very many ways. Especially if someone is very apt at what they do." He suspected this Goblin King could have access to different magic than he was familiar with. Remus had witnessed other such new powers that did not match up with his previous life's knowledge so it would not surprise him.

"I highly doubt it is your fault someone kit-napped your brother. However crying about it is going to do little to get him back." His tone was mild; more thoughtful than condescending. "I can try to help you, if you like."

Sarah looked up at Remus, tears on her face. "I... I got mad, and wished the Goblin King would take him, and he did! He did... And he couldn't without my wishing! I have to get him back, Its my fault!"
"Wish magic... that is powerful indeed." Remus had only heard of such a thing, but what he recalled was something wondrous & rare. "How does this work? Perhaps if I understood the process..." He was trying to calm her down even as he pried for the information. She certainly could not help herself in this condition.

Sarah shook. "I... I... I... He..." She looks lost. "He seems to feed off me, he wants to control me he said, offers me the world if I let him, but I have to let him keep Tobey! I don't know how it all works."

"He feeds off of you?" He wondered if that tied it in to some kind of vampiric magic. Or perhaps it was closer to what Dementor did when feeding off the happiness in those around him.

"What can you tell me about this Labyrinth? Is Tobey in the Labyrinth?"

Sarah shakes a bit. "The Labyrinth is all around us! Tobey is in the castle at the center of the Labyrinth!" She shudders, then freezes, her eyes glazing over, and a scent of peaches wafts past.

Remus sighed. She really was not being helpful. Quite panic-y really. "Then we should get you to the center of the Labyrinth to find him." He glanced back at her, only then noticing the glaze over here eyes. "Miss? Miss?" He waved his wand in front of her eyes to see if she would react.

Sitting by the chair where she had flopped down in a pout when Gypsy left, Chroma lifted her nose to sniff at the new smell. "Peaches." She licked her maw hungrily. Peaches sure sounded good. Getting up, she padded off to follow the source of the smell. As long as it did not originate outside of HQ.

Sarah looked up, at Remus, and smiled, her tears drying. The scent seemed to surround her, and faded fast. She begins to hum, like some one humming with music, but none played.

This was a pleasant change. At least she was not in hysterics anymore. "Ah, yes. That's a lovely melody. Now, about this Labyrinth. Are there any clues to get to the center." That Sarah was humming to herself did not faze him in the slightest. His human often sang or hummed to the music in her head, and Remus had come to the conclusion that many did this.

Losing the scent of peaches Chroma pouted. She was nearer Remus & Sarah now though & could hear the haunting melody the female hummed. Smiling, she swayed back & forth to the tune. It was pretty. Reminded her of something she had heard at home.

Didymus turned, and smiled at Chroma. "Hello, m'Lady!"
Sarah looked blankly at Remus for a long moment, then her eyes unglazed a bit. "I... don't know... I have to find him..." There was something ambiguous about the him, rather then the certainty when she had spoken of Tobey.

Chroma stopped & blinked at Sir Didymus. He had not spoken in a while & she had forgotten about him. Then she glanced around, looking for the 'lady' to whom he spoke. Seeing no one who might be new to him, she blinked again. She'd never been called a lady before. "Me? Um... okay! Hello!"

Meanwhile Remus was looking at Sarah whom he was starting to think was acting oddly. Well, more odd. "Yes. You have to find your brother, Tobey. Unless there is someone else you should find as well?"

Sarah jerked at Tobey's name and snaps out of it. "Jareth has him.... Jareth..."

Didymus bows to Chroma. "I am Sir Didymus, m'Lady. At your service, save for when I must aid My Lady."

"Jareth? I take it that's the name of the Goblin King?" Remus was seriously starting to have second thoughts about having chosen to speak with her. Weird things seemed to happen to her, with no cause that he could discern. However, he hated to see someone in trouble. "We could look for them both. Together. But we need to move if we are to find the center of this Labyrinth. I highly doubt it will come to us." His many wounds tingled at the thought of a long adventure, but Remus only winced mildly & ignored them. He had offered his aid & he would give it if he could.

Chroma giggled, loving the way the feathers on his hat moved when Didymus bowed. "Pleased to meet you, Sir Didymus! I'm Chroma!" As best she could, the hyper teen imitated the bow with a flourish. This was fun!

Sarah smiled at him, warmly. "I... I would appreciate that... It is good to have friends to help you..." She pauses, and glances at the silvery mask in her hand, and her dress. "Not very practical for hunting through a labyrinth, but its what I have...."

Didymus grinned widely. "And a true lady thou art! Come, let us see what My Lady is doing, she speaks over yonder with that man."

Remus looked her attire up & down. "No, I suppose not. But I've spells that should help if you get it dirty or torn, so do not fret." He gave her a tentative smile; small so as not to strain any healing scratches on his face. "Which way should we go?"

Another giggle escaped Chroma as she followed her new friend. "That 'man' is my brother Remy!" She exclaimed happily.

"Remus." The kitsu in question said automatically, without even realizing he had done so.

She smiles at him, and looks around, then nods decisively at a wall. "The corridor turns right over there, I think we should turn, rather then going straight..." And she gestures down the hall.

Didymus nods to Remus. "An honor to meet a man of such noble bearing, Sir Remus! Thy sister Chroma and I have been speaking, and it appears you have joined My Lady's quest?"

He followed Sarah's gaze, starting to wonder what she saw in the spell she was under. Remus had decided that it must be some sort of a spell. Though the possibility that she had lost her mind much like those on a certain floor in St. Mungo's still lingered. He was in mid step to go there when he heard his name called. "Ah, yes. It appears I have joined her quest." The use of the word 'quest' was curious to him. It was not what he would have thought to call it & it puzzled the scholarly kitsu.

Chroma giggled. "Lady Chroma & Sir Remy!" Feeling Remus glare down at her the teen giggled again. "Sir Remus J. Lupin! We shall join this quest!" With another flourishing bow she broke into even more giggles. Everything was a game to Chroma. As far as she was concerned, Sarah was fully engrossed in the best game of make-believe ever.

New Day ((Still Cosplay Hopeful))
His wounds were healing & Remus was beginning to feel much better. He was curious about the abundance of new kitsu around the HQ lately. A little sigh escaped him. Remus did not like letting his little sister know he was nearly as curious as she.

Chroma for that matter was not curious in quite the same ways Remus was. Happily, she pranced ahead of her protective brother while humming a little song. Her curiosity revolved more around wondering what she would do tonight, & who she might meet. Light blue eyes sparkled at the thought.

Naruto's loud voice can heard as always and he bolts outside the HQ, hot on the trail of a red blur, yelling profanities "GYPSY, GIVE IT BACK!!!! THAT'S MINE!!!"

Gypsy, in another game of chase, has something far less dangerous then a kunai she occasionally takes from him. It is a cup of instant ramen, taken right from Naruto's paws and now she is running around with it

Ryuk smirked through a mouth full of plastic.

Typical mortal reaction...

Though he wasn't surprised at all, sometimes he wished mortals wouldn't react so badly to him. It was hard to observe them in their natural state when they wouldn't stop screaming. Granted, had he been a mortal, he'd be afraid of him too. And this one, this one was a child. Of course she'd be afraid.

Landing lightly on the grass, his wings retracted into his back. He set the bag of apples down, and proceeded to rip it open with his teeth, seeking a bite of the fruit. He kept an eye on the mortals the whole time.

Naruto growls at the dark furred Kitsu, "Why'd you have to scare her like that ya jerk?!! She's only a baby and she can't fly yet!!!" he yells. Then he unzips his jacket, pulling Gypsy out and turning her to look at him "See, Gypsy, there isn't a reason to hide, you don't have to be scared of a big fur ball like him!!!"

Gypsy blinks at the dark furred Kitsu, her gold colored eyes wide. Her fear is quickly forgotten as she spies the apples and she reachs her paws out, wriggling around as she screams out "Food!!!!"

Who is this figure? His large ears twitching with an ultra-sensitive sense of hearing, a good portion covered by the relatively short cut of dirty blonde hair that is carefully parted at the front so that it doesn't cover his ocean blue eyes. Those eyes are curious as they look around, but also very wary, glaring at everything and everyone he sees for who knew if any could be an enemy!

His gauntlet covered forepaws stretch out and the little individual fingers stretch as he walks, the sound of the shield on his back faintly heard scratching at his forest green tunic that wavers with each step. His sheathed sword settled under that shield providing more weight in his steps but Link carries himself quite nicely with the skill that only a warrior of his skills and experience could very well have.

Despite all the this though, he could not still help himself from sending a few small glares in the direction of that rather annoying little Guardian that chittered in her surprisingly loud and very high pitched voice. Everything she saw was accompanied by a ringing of a bell and usually something along the lines of, "Hey! Watch out! Look!" Every time he had to roll his eyes because every time there was nothing there! Overreacting she was, Navi that is, that little pestering Guardian that he could not help but love! She had come with him when he needed her most and had not yet abandoned him. So, of course, there was a deep and very profound friendship between them.

But still! She should stop! So annoyed with her that Link doesn't notice the rock until he trips over it, releasing his trademark, "AAAAAH!" as he falls forward, flies a few feet and thuds onto the ground with a cloud of dust following his impact. Oh, that hurt.

At first Chroma is merely crestfallen, and her whole posture droops with sorrow. why did Gypsy friend run? The thought flies as she feels the presence descending. "Ahhhhhhhhhh!"

"Chroma!" His first thought that if whatever was descending was a danger he could not reach the teen in time. Instinctively his wand was out, Stupefy ready to cast when Remus realized the descending shape was a kitsu & did not seem to be aggressive. Realizing he was staring as the winged kitsu began to eat his apples; Remus Lupin averted his gaze & put his wand away. Casually he went over to his sister. "Everything is fine, Chroma."

To the immortal he said. "Hello. I do not believe we've met."

Blinking out of her shock, Chroma nodded. "I know I've not seen you! I'm Chroma!"

Ahh, and here was a mortal who was too dull to know what was good for him. How quaint.

The laugh that escaped from the Shinigami kitsu's throat could not be determined as being either mocking or jovial. His dead grin washed over the orange-clad kitsu.

"The kit is probably right to be afraid," Ryuk said. "You don't know what I am, do you?"

Reaching through a hole he'd ripped in the bag, Ryuk reached into it and pulled out an apple. He rolled it towards the winged kit.

"Here. But don't think you'll be getting much more."

Then, sticking his snout into the hole, he brought up an apple in his jaws and crunched down on it. He made little content noises as he chewed.

Nodding towards the robed kitsu, he responded through mouthfulls of fruit.

"No, we haven't. Had we met before...well, you wouldn't be here."

Naruto sets Gypsy down, but keeps an eye on her so she doesn't get to close. He shrugs his shoulders as he goes to pick up his abandoned cup, "Nope, not really..." he holds his cup protectively, eyeing Gypsy in case she made another grab for it

Gyspy hops up to the apple and picks it up in her mouth. She stares up at the dark furred Kitsu with big eyes, but she turns her attention to Chroma and she bounds up to, her voice and chirps muffled as she goes to her friend

"I admit I do not know who you are either." Remus interjected. "Perhaps you could enlighten us? I am Remus J. Lupin."

"Yeah! e'lighten us!"

Link pushes up to his feet, shaking himself off as he does. That one scream would probably be all that anyone gets out of him, being a silent protagonist and all. Navi's "WATCH OUT!" had come a few seconds too late for him to heed her warning and he had paid with a scuff on the chin. One of those forepaws lifts up to rub at that spot before settling it back down into the dirt.

He glances over his shoulders to spy that his white tights have gotten dirty; no surprise there. It always takes a great deal of washing to get rid of all the gunk they collect. With a slight waggle of his hips, he shakes off more dust from the bottom piece of his tunic before he starts on his way again. His belt, consisting of many useful tools and some pouches, jingles as well; all in all he's a rather noisy Kitsusagi if you really thought about it but when he wanted to, he could be as silent as a cat, a tactic he often uses while on a quest.

He had surveyed his surroundings already once before and now does it again. He had some some other Kitsusagis, but rarely did he ever find himself so interested to make an approach and inquire. However, that didn't ever stop him from eavesdropping for one could always pick up tasty morsels of information that way. With stealth in mind he creeps along towards some group to listen in.

Ryuk swallowed the last of his apple noisily.

"My name is Ryuk," he proclaimed. "And I am a Shinigami."

Fishing another apple out of the bag, he idly rolled it off his claws and tossed it into the air before grabbing it again and biting into it. He wagged a paw at the cloaked kitsu.

"You might as well return the favor."

"I know my name is not widely known, but I am Remus J. Lupin, a wizard." and werewolf He mentally added to himself depreciatively. "If you do not like company, why choose a spot where you will have company, I wonder?"

The large dark kitsu was boring. Chroma happily sought to start a game with the kit Gypsy while the 'adults' talked. Talking was highly overrated. Play was much better!

He doesn't get too far because again Navi starts her bell ringing and shouting, leaping up and down in front of his path and up to wards his face to stop him. In fact, she even catches his muzzle, making him skid to a halt, blinking as he goes cross-eyed to stare at her as she warns him to stay away, that none of these folks look very safe.

Link exhales a sigh, his ears pinning back against his head and he tilts it, causing his hat to shift along with him. His expression is one with an arched brow and one dropping towards the middle to narrow at the Guardian, patiently waiting for her to let go of him. She does, but only to climb up his face, getting a grunt out of him and she climbs under his hat, sticking her head out to look around. After all, she still intends to watch out for her Kokiri Kitsusagi friend.

He shakes his head absently at her before he starts to walk, ignoring her previous warning that he ought to stay away. Link was cautious and still very aware and still he wasn't too close to them that he'd be in danger. If anything it looks as if he's going for a casual walk and at that point, to him, it had become just that.

"A wizard" Ryuk mused. "That's new. You mortals are always full of surprises."

His grin widened as he turned to look Lupin straight on. Golden orbs bore into the other kitsu's.

"Why does anyone do anything?" He began to preen himself, long tongue stretching out over jagged teeth.

"I was bored."

Waving goodbye to her friend & Gypsy's strange babysitter, Chroma hears the sound of a bell ringing. With eager hops she bounds off in search of the source. Then it stopped. A new smell approached. "Hihi!" The teen called out gaily. "You here to play too?"

The Kokiri Kitsusagi comes to a stop, blinking as he looks at the approaching girl. Her words are met by a casual tilt of the blonde's head, blinking at her again; his three tails remain still behind him, merely dangling at his hindquarters and along his booted hindpaws. He regards her inquistively but finally decides that she doesn't mean him any kind of harm. She's met with a smile from him and he gives a shake of his head.

This kind of interaction makes Navi's bell dingle again, but at least this time it isn't accompanied by a warning from her. Instead, she speaks in that high pitched voice, waving at Chroma, "Hello there!"

You mortals? What does that make him? An immortal? There were memories of many kinds of immortals in the wizarding world. Remus had a feeling Ryuk did not mean elves or fae. No. The dark one had too much sense of self for that. "Boredom makes both mortal & immortal do strange things." He might have been unnerved slightly by the intense stare but showed nothing. Sometimes being a werewolf had its advantages. "Would your boredom be better suited to our presence or without it?"

"I'm Chroma! Wanna play?" One track mind, this kitsu.

Ryuk raised his head to again level himself with Lupin. He let out a low chuckle.

"Don't flatter yourself. I come here all the time. I like it here, in the mortal world. Mortals...are a RIOT!"

His eyes widened, causing him to look even more maddened than he normally did. He managed to maintain the same low laugh. If there was anything the Shinigami kitsu didn't want, it was to come off as being a lunatic.

He leaned in closer to the other kitsu. This served two purposes: to better examine the wizard as well as hoard his apples.

"You don't seem like a normal mortal yourself. Are you from around here?"

Link opens his mouth, readying to reply when Navi goes on to answer for him, "I'm Navi! And this," she knocks on Link's forehead with two tiny hands, "This is Link! Of course we'll play! Link loves to play, don't you Link!" She looks at him, square in the eyes.

He smiles at Navi and then nods, turning his eyes back to Chroma, having since closed his mouth since his eccentric fairy friend was quick to the punch to answer for him. This is something someone might notice over time that Link was rather quiet and withdrawn, but at the same time very friendly. Navi was his voice a good deal of the time, and she did it a second time with this other Kitsusagi.

"What game would you like to play? Link loves to race! And oh, oh, treasure hunts are always fun too!"

"I never flatter myself." Remus stated matter-of-factly. In fact, if anything he tended to belittle himself. But he knew enough to keep that to himself. He chuckled; two short bursts. "I suppose mortals are rather humorous"

Remus blanched ever so slightly as Ryuk leaned in. It was not the proximity as much as what he said. 'don't seem like a normal mortal'... can he see I'm a werewolf? He quickly pulled himself together. Not that it mattered. Severus knew, & in this place did not seem to care. "Yes & no. I was born here, in this form. But I have memories from another life, not here, with a different form." but the same affliction...

"There are others I know from that time or place, who also seem to recall it." Remus could almomst hit himself for that. It was not like him to give out information on others.

Chroma got more & more excited with each utterance from Navi's mouth. "I love all games! I can race! She seemed completely oblivious that the grown kitsu would likely outpace her easily. "But I don't usually get to go on treasure hunts! Do you know of any treasure hunts? Brother Locke looks for treasure all the time but he never lets me go with him." That was not quite true. The cait Locke had taken the teen kitsu on a few excursions with him. However Chroma tended to get distracted or get in the way at crucial times & he had since taken to either sneaking out while she was not looking, waiting til Chroma left for the kitsu HQ, or implying he was going to do something much more boring than treasure hunting.

Ryuk couldn't help but wonder how it felt to have memories from two lives, when he himself could hardly call what he had a "life" at all. Perhaps that was why this kitsu's lifeclock looked so strange? No, it had to be something else. Something physical. Even the little winged kit's lifeclock had looked the same as those of other mortals. This kitsu, Lupin, he had something supernatural about him.

He laughed with his eyes.

These mortals...

"Must be nice..." was all he said.

Navi had little patience, but it was not the sort of lacking patience that made her snippity or rude like it would others; she was just very energetic, constantly on the go, and often found it difficult with Link to get what she wanted or go where she wanted when she wanted. However, this other Kitsusagi seems to be the complete opposite and this makes her happy!

Link himself is stuck in between them, so to speak, listening with growing amusement, his eyes bright with it, and the smile on his face both clear indications of the laughter he feels but doesn't express vocally just yet.

"Let's do a race! I don't think Link knows of any treasures we can go look for. Do you Link? Well, Link? LINK!"

She had said this all so fairly quickly that the Kitsusagi barely had time to register each word before she was screeching out his name. His ears flatten and he takes a step back, crossing his eyes to stare at her again, then he shakes his head quickly when it finally dawns on him what she was saying.

"A race it is then!" she announces, pointing an arm out in the air. She then looks around. "Ha! Over there, to that tree! On the count of three. Face that way! Come on, look! Watch!" She ducks under the hat, readying herself with Link to go on the race.

He shakes his head, smiling, but does lower himself to the ground slightly, preparing to run when the count starts.

Remus shrugged, in a self-depreciating way. "I suppose." He was starting to miss Chroma's chatter. The wizard felt he should continue talking, but was uncertain what to say. The way the laughter hung in the immortals eyes made Remus more uneasy than anything else Ryuk had done since meeting him. As if he knew something...

Resisting the urge to shift uneasily, Remus cleared his throat. "Please don't let me keep you from your meal. Chroma & I ate before we came."

Not having as far down to crouch, Chroma giggled as she sized up her opponent. Blue eyes twinkled as she waited to hear the countdown. Her hind end wiggled with excitement. Race Race Race!

"Ooooone," begins Navi, purposely drawing out each number just to make the anxiety for the start of the race all that more painfully slow.

"Twoooooooo."

And while she starts to count, Link is debating with himself. While this is a race he could more than likely win, he decides to be a good fellow, a good man, and let her win. A decision quickly made just as Navi shouts,

"THREE!"

And he doesn't shoot out like a horse from behind the gate. No. He rises up to his feet as Navi yanks and jerks at his bangs, bouncing up and down under his hat, almost sending it flying.

"Come on, Link! RUN! RUN! LOOK! She's getting ahead of us!"

Does Link start running despite this insistent badgering on the part of the Guardian? Not at all. With one paw in front of the other, he puts himself into a light trot, looking more like a show horse rather than a racer as he keeps himself a good few feet back behind Chroma to let her have the lead and of course, the win.

Ryuk cocked his head slightly.

Meal?

Being immortal, the Shinigami kitsu really had no reason to eat regularly. He rarely did. Hell, there wasn't even food where he came from. The only time he ate was when...

Oh, he means the apples.

"What, these?" he said, pawing at the bag. "This isn't a meal. I'm not feeding myself with these. I'm feeding an addiction."

He took a bite out of another apple, savoring it like he figured a mortal human did a long drag on a cigarette.

"Apples are like cocaine to Shinigami like me."

He used the word pointedly. The dark kitsu was making Lupin uncomfortable, he could tell. But it wasn't uncomfortable in the way most mortals were around him. It was a more...uncertain-uncomfortable. This made him wonder amusedly if Lupin knew what a Shinigami was.

Mortals are so easy to mess with.]

At the sound of Navi's "THREE!" Chroma took off. The simple minded teen did not notice her opponent's slow pace, only the feel of the air whipping through her fur as she sped onwards. She did however notice that she was ahead (mostly thanks to Navi's exclamations), a realization that made her smile. Panting with exertion she pressed on, at long last reaching the target tree. Tapping it with her paw the tired teen found the energy to do a victory dance. "I won! I won!" As Link also reached the goal she beamed up at him happily. "That was fun! Did you have fun? I had fun!"

No. Remus had no idea what a Shinigami was. His reaction to hearing that the apples were like cocaine to them however was first one of worry. He understood from his human that cocaine was bad, & that muggles could get horribly addicted to it & worse. He had never heard of someone in the wizarding world taking cocaine... perhaps it was another one of those things muggles did to try to get the feel of what magic was like.

Once he was past the worry, his brow quirked. The scholar in him awakened. "Cocaine has negative effects on the mortals who use it... do apples have negative effects for Shinigami?" Remus felt he really should know something more about these Shinigami; perhaps he could see if they were mentioned in any of the books at home later. "Or are they merely like cocaine to you in that the craving increases exponentially."

By the time Chroma reached the finishing line of their race, Link was only half way there, still in midtrot. However, once she had been declared the winner by touching the tree, he pushes himself into a nice swift leaping gallop that gets him there in no time. Navi herself is still exclaiming and almost practically shrieking at Link for having not gotten there fast enough, but in the end, he's just rolling his eyes and smiling at the Guardian.

His attention is snatched by his opponent, smiling brighter at her and nodding his head. Again, before he can speak Navi is quick to pipe in, "Yes, we had fun, even if we didn't win! Link is usually faster than that; I don't know why he was being so slow today!"

"Just in that they're terribly addictive."

He nodded slyly and crunched again.

"...Worse things happen to me when I can't have them."

Ryuk had intentionally dragged out the use of the term 'Shinigami.' He was sure now that Lupin had no idea what he was.

He can't possibly just think I'm just some mortal...not even one as -irregular- as him.

For the other kitsu's benefit, the Shinigami kitsu decided to just throw out the information.

"Shinigami. You know, god of death. Like...the Grim Reaper?" He recalled, almost fondly, how he'd met the Reaper in the form of a kitsu the other night. "We go by many names and have different ways of going about it, but in the end, we are all Shinigami."

Still looking up, Chroma's purely happy face simpered with sympathy. "You're usually faster? But you were slow today? awwww.... poor Link-Link!" She nuzzled his side compassionately. "Link must have hurt himself! We will have to race again when Link is all better!" She nodded emphatically, happy to have come to such a good conclusion.

So that is the type of immortal he is. There had been times in his life -more in his 'past life' than this one- where Remus had wished for death to come. Now however, he found that despite his condition he was not interested in leaving his life behind. It made him a little nervous, wondering if those times wishing fore death had led up to this moment. Still, it was not quite as terrifying as the thought of losing one's soul forever to the dementors.

All in all, he took the revelation rather well. "Well, all living creatures must go at some point. You must have your work cut out for you." He amazed himself that he could continue speaking as he did, but it was part of his nature he suspected. Always the scholar... "I do hope you've not come for me this night. I'd like to see my charge safely home." He inclined his head where Link kept Chroma occupied. "Not that I want to cut short the conversation, Just that I lost track of the time. It has been an honor."

With a little bow he bade the Shinigami good night & called to Chroma. "Chroma, dear! It's time to go home."

"Awwww..." The teen pouted, right before yawning. Sheepishly she caught herself & smiled up at Link & Navi. "Thanks for playing! Bye-bye!" With a flick of her tails she ran off to join her brother & return home.

Ryuk watched as the cloaked kitsu and his bright kit headed off.

"I do hope you've not come for me this night..."

"Don't flatter yourself," he said quietly. "I was just bored."

Mortals always think everything is about them.

Taking the bag of apples into his mouth, he launched himself into the air and flew off on leathery wings.

New Day
(coming in on Keiki & India eating fruit from a bowl)
Chroma bounced in, high on dinner & the desert that followed. Trailing behind her -mostly in the role of chaperone but with a curiosity to see others of his kind this night- Remus entered at a more sedate pace. The adults there looked familiar & the wizard quickly placed them as kitsu he had first seen much younger. That satisfied him. Chroma however was so excited she did not make the realization as swiftly as her more intellectually oriented brother. Spotting the siblings her brow furrowed even as she grew more excited at the prospect of friends while she pondered what could possibly be familiar about them. The light bulb that went off when it dawned on her might have well been visible for all that her eyes lit up happily. With a skip to her four-footed step she headed their direction.

"Hi! Long time no see! We've all grown!” So excited was she, it did not phase her one bit that they were adults while she was still a teen. But then, that might just be part of being a teenager.

India shook his head at his sister's logic. As his little natural sugar rush began to wear off already, he thought to throw a snide remark in her direction. She was saved, however, by another female. Amber eyes took in her coloration. How ironic. "Yeah, nice to see you again." The male said, a small smile slipping to his maw. His voice was obviously much more placid than the other's, but such was his personality. For a moment, he sent his gaze to his sister, before returning it to Chroma.

Keiki looked at the kit her brother was addressing. Something...familiar..."Chroma!!!" With a a bound she went over to the female. He gave the lighter kit a lick before smiling greatly. "It's been so long! How've you been? Have you met anyone you know...'interesting'?" Keiki was bouncing in her heels. Natural sugar high plus her normal sugar high, heh. She needed to burn this out or else she and Kosuit would keep everyone up.

Her eyes glimmered more at being recognized. Not that she thought for a moment she might not be, just that it felt good. "I've been great! Met lots of interesting kitsu... Gypsy who plays ball & chase really well, a male called Link who ran a race with me while he was hurt..." A flash of concern crossed her face. "And I saw a fight! Webs & lightning & stuff! Very cool!

What about you guys? All fun?"

Sighing, India almost wished he had his sister's energy. Almost. Stretching his neck idly, he swished his all black tail back to join with the others. Standing, he stretched out his back before moving to sit again. As he did so, he noticed Remus. He'd been around when they first met Chroma, too. Maybe he was her father or something, he figured. Wrapping the usual all black tail back around his legs, he shrugged at the yellow femme's question. "If you call hanging out with your sister fun," he said jokingly.

Keiki pouted again and blew a raspberry at her brother. He could be so mean sometimes! "Well you know it is. Better than sleeping." She stuck out her tongue at him again. Adult in look, child in heart. That part was obvious. "Anyway...we gave grand-neices/nephews!" That was news.

"I love being with my brother!" Nodding her point she beamed across the way at Remus, who had pulled a book from his robes & was flipping pages to find his spot. Remus, is it fun hanging out with me?"

A soft smile touched his face, hearing Chroma's words. Chroma dear, you are always fun to be with."

Smiling, Chroma shivered with happiness from nose to tips of tails. Then it dawned on her what Keiki said. "Grand nieces & nephews?!? Wow!! But you're not that old... are you?" Scrunching up her face she peered at her playmates, trying to fathom the age discrepancy she thought must be there.

India didn't have to try hard in not returning his sister's childish acts. Huffing, he shrugged again, at a loss for how to remedy her obvious un-anger, more so than actual anger at the situation. As he heard Chroma talk to the other male, he grinned slightly. So he was her brother. His attention lingered on the wizard a while longer until the yellow one's voice met his ears again. Old? Them? No way. Truthfully, he didn't even know of these grand nieces and nephews she spoke of.

Capili nodded enthusiastically. Though she didn't get along well with their father, she did love them. "Yup! Our eldest sister, Capili's son. He got his 'partner-in-crime' all knocked up. And they had twins! They're Generation 7!" She loved mentioning that part. Generation 7. It made her father feel older than he already did. She giggled.

Siblings were probably the best part in a family. Even after time, you know your siblings will have you back.

This was confusing, but Keiki's enthusiasm made Chroma think better somehow. "Oldest sister? So, then, your parents must be very, very prolific then!" Chroma's wide-eyed amazement floored her & the teen sat down rather heavily. The fact that she used one of Remus' big words went completely over her head. She gazed curiously at India. "Does that mean you will be prolific too?"

It was meant to be a 'you' incorporating all their parents' children, but it probably did not sound that way.

Remus quirked his own ears to the conversation over the content of his book. Kitsu could have nice, long, prolific lives he had noticed. Severus & his family made that clear to him. Sometimes he still had to come to grips with that himself, when the memories of his previous 'life' were strong. Chroma was different. She was raised mostly by their human & was accustomed to the slow growth of the human child. That, & his darling sister was not a student in any way. Hers was the lessons in life.

An almost blush crept it's way across India's features. It was all but unnoticable under his black fur, however. Actually, he had been surprised he'd even known what that words was and what it meant. Well, he hadn't really been planning on having kids and such. Maybe it would be nice, but... He shook his head as if to clear the thoughts and give her an answer. "I dunno, maybe. Haven't really thought about it." He then answered vocally. It was a rather evasive answer. The tip of his all black tail twitched lightly as it sat across his paws. "What about you?"

Chroma blinked. What about her? She actually had not even considered not having children. "Well, sure I'd like kits! I'd need a mate first." It was one of those rare instances when she realized what she said & then subsequently realized the gender of the one she said it to. Instantly she was blushing too; the red of her cheeks easily coming through her light fur making them seem to match her red tips. "Ah.. well.. of course... hehe.... I'm sure Remus will be mated and having kits before me anyhow."

Engrossed in his book -but not enough- Remus sputtered. His eyes bugged out & he coughed. "Thank you, Chroma dear, for reminding me." The more shy kitsu delved back into the safety of his book. Would that he felt safe enough to woo a lady kitsu... but he could dream, could he not?

Noticing the other's blush, he felt his own cheeks growing hotter. It was annoying. He felt like a little girl. Shaking his head, he felt slight relief as his brown bangs swished cool air into his fur. But still, he felt as if the spotlight were on him. Glancing away, his amber eyes scanned the room as if looking for a scapegoat on which to shrug his discomfort, however, one was provided for him. It wasn't that he enjoyed Remus's discomfort, it was just that he needed some way to lessen his own. Sighing, he looked back to Chroma, offering a change of subject. "So... you want some fruit?" He asked dumbly, nodded towards the still half-full bowl that Keiki had magically summoned earlier.

She had just eaten, but the taste of her foot in her mouth along with the feeling that it would be rude not to accept India's offer decided for her. "ah, sure. That sounds nice.” With a smile she grabbed at a large red fruit, hoping that her lingering blush might be attributed to a reflection of the fruit's skin in some way.

Alone with his thoughts, Remus sighed. He was no longer really reading his book. Not at the moment anyway. Times like this, he wished he had more of James' or Sirius' ability to speak with the opposite sex. Not that he needed it right now; just that the situation reminded him how woefully inadequate he himself was in such a department. But then, Chroma was normally quite adept at speaking with anyone of either gender. It was not until her blunder that she had difficulties. Perhaps more had insecurities than Remus had thought. Or perhaps it was a natural part of the courting ritual. Not that he would know.

India was glad she'd accepted his offer. That made the change of subject run much smoother. To make himself seem more inconspicuous, he also grabbed at a fruit. Another banana. Again, he went through the same ritual of biting it through the middle, savoring the peel and all of the single bite, before lazily peeling the remaining halves and finishing the mushy snack. Once he was finished, he licked at his chops to make sure none of the white-ish yellow food remained. Glacing out of the corner of his eye at Chroma, he waited for her to finish while his brain worked at a pace too fast for his current energy level, trying to think of some way to make normal conversation.

A giggle escaped her as she saw how India ate his banana. Chroma managed to contain it enough that she did not choke on her own fruit. It was tasty, & when she had finished she too liked her lips for traces of escaped edibles. She was not quite as diligent about it as India was, but if she left anything Chroma was blissfully unaware. Now she could giggle freely.

"I've never seen anyone eat a banana like that!” Her grin showed that she was merely amused, not mocking. "Does it taste better that way?”

India seemed to ponder her question for a moment. Did it really taste better or did he just do that to make the other ends easier to peel? Truthfully, he hadn't thought about it. "Well..." he finally replied, "It doesn't taste any worse. I kinda like the peel, I guess." Nodding, as it to solidify his answer, he offered a wry grin. There was one banana left in the bowl. "You wanna try it?" He asked, pawing at the bowl so that it tipped, but not quite enough to send the fruit everywhere.

That sounded like fun! With glimmer in her eye, Chroma snagged a banana from the tipped bowl. Drawing back, her ears brushed against the paw India used to tilt the bowl & the teen shook her head at the strange sensation. She backed up so she could be looking at India, then crossed her eyes as she positioned the banana for a center snapping bite. With a grin & a goofy wiggle of her posterior (akin to pre-pounce playfulness) Chroma chomped eagerly into the yellow fruit.

She smushed it. Though the banana was bit clear in two, the actual center of her bite had been pressed into either end. Bits of pale yellow pulp clug to the fur on her face as she chewed the rind thoughtfully, oblivious for the moment to the mess. "hmmmm... peel's not as yummy as the filling." She managed around the bite in her mouth before swallowing. She licked at the banana center still in one of the ends. "Yeah... center's much tastier!"

She grinned up at India. "But the fun in eating it that way certainly mkes up for the ick factor of the peel!"

It had actually surprised the male how eager she'd been to try his suggestion. Personally, he'd be rather wary of such an offer. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but smile lightly at her antics. The smile slipped only slightly as her ear startled him, but it was only a temporary fall. Shaking his head almost in mirror with her own movements, he let out a soft breath.

An inquisitive eyebrow raised as he observed her snacking. "I'm glad you had fun, at least," he offered when she'd finished. Truthfully, he'd almost laughed out loud at her mess. His own banana eating tended to be less messy. Maybe his teeth were just sharper or something. Allowing a small chuckle to slide from his throat, he raised his paw to bat playfully at the same ear that had brushed against it earlier.

"Much fun!” Chroma grinned, beaming. She ducked her head almost shyly as the adult batted her ear. Did it seem different because he was not in her family? The teen part of her wondered if there was something more to it while her own carefree nature tried to brush it aside as completely normal. She flicked her tongue out to lick an errant spot of banana from her nose, eyes going cross trying to watch. "heh-heh. I think my teeth aren't as sharp as yours. Maybe they'll be sharper when I'm an adult?” She cocked her head endearingly at India, seeking affirmation or something similar. "I thought they were sharp..." Chroma snapped her teeth together a couple of times, drawing back her lips & jutting out her jaw as she attempted to let India have a look at them. Perhaps he could see something she could not.

India almost pulled back his playful gesture mid-way. To him she seemed somewhat uncomfortable with it. Whatever the case, by the time his mind had fully registered these thoughts, the deed was done and he was setting his dark paw back down with the others. Letting out a thoughtful breath as she spoke next, he allowed his own teeth to show ever so slightly as he offered a grin. It almost surprised him that they had been thinking along the same lines, no matter how logical the thought was. A small laugh could be heard, laced within his voice. "Well, I'm sure they are sharp," he confirmed, offering a critical look or two at her exposed fangs. "And I'm sure they'll be sharper still when you grow." There was a little nod that followed his words. A sort of physical conformation that he always liked to add to a verbal one.

So happy was Chroma at her adult friend's opinion that she stopped jutting her jaw out, grinned wildly, & gave him her version of a hug. That entailed dashing at India as if tackling, head-butting his shoulder affectionately, then continuing forward, pressing the length of her body against that spot until she could romp around & face him again; which she did, happy as ever.

Watching over the top of his book Remus sighed. He wondered if his dear little sister had any inkling of what she might have done to India if the male kitsu had any feelings for her. Or even to herself. Probably not. Sighing, he slipped his book back into the inner pocket of his cloak & rose to join India & Chroma. "Chroma dear... & India, right?" He nodded mannerly at the other male. "Remus J. Lupin, Chroma's brother." Remus did not feel right without introducing himself just out of principle. Even if he had heard Chroma share his name with India. "I regret to bring this so quickly to a close, But Chroma & I need to be getting home soon."

Chroma's eyes widened and she checked the outside view. "Is it that late already?" She did not bother to hide the disappointment & wistfulness in her voice. "I'm afraid so."

She sighed. Then -as if a thought struck her- she smiled, rose up on her hind legs, & licked India on the nose impulsively. Flopping back down, she continued grinning. "We'll just have to play again another day!"

Shocked, Remus moved a little slower to leave than he otherwise would walk. He nodded an erstwhile goodbye at India. Concern for his happy-go-lucky sister enveloped him; more on the ways she could get herself into trouble around less honorable kitsu. At least India does not seem the pushy or invasive type... Still, in big brother fashion, he wondered if anything was going on. Relationships really were not his forte.

The male's form stiffened at the contact, but he held his ground nonetheless. He wasn't used to such displays of affection, besides those that were forced upon him by his sister. Not to mention the words of said sister. Those annoying play pickings about him liking someone. Grumbling, though it was far from audible, he forced his body to relax. Then, as Remus joined them, he almost sighed. That relief was short lived, however, when he was told that they would have to go. Nodding robotically at the introduction, he was able to conjure a little smile. It confused him. Never before had he felt unhappy knowing he would be alone.

He was about to say good bye quickly, as if just to get it over with, when he felt the other's tongue against his nose. It was a very strange feeling, one that made him shiver slightly. But he felt a bit better when her heard her voice. "Yeah..." he responded, though it sounded somewhat monotone. Watching them leave, he returned the nodded farewell. When they were out of sight, he finally moved. Settling in the corner of the room, he laid his head on his paws, but rather than covering his head and staring at the ground, he stared out, wondering if anyone else would stop by.

Chroma becomes an Adult
Chroma: That's right! I'm an adult now! Just like India & Keiki! *looks around in mild confusion* So um... what's that mean, anyway?

Remus: *drops his head, shaking it sadly from side to side in disbelief* Oh, no. Please tell me I won't have to explain to her about "the birds & the bees"...

oh I'll tell her.

That's a relief.

Whether it will get through to her or not is another matter entirely... sweatdrop

eh? *head snaps up* what was that?

ah.... nothing.

*prances around in her new adultness; oblivious to conversation around her*

First Annual Miss FrooFroo Contest at the Mountain
(hosted by Sebastian; peacock angelic)
Chroma runs over to Scarecrow & hugs her. "Congrats! Wasn't that fun?"

Sky-blue eyes sparkle, not even seeming to realize that for the other kitsu to have won it meant she lost. Ah, the simplicity of an innocent mind.

Remus returns to HQ alone
It was nearing the full moon, & Remus was getting antsy. Not only that, but Chroma -his dear little sister- was now an adult & not so little anymore. He could not sleep for the thoughts on his mind & so headed alone to the kitsusagi headquarters for perhaps the first time since Chroma joined their family. He did not know why... it could be as busting with kitsu here as their home was filled with the many creatures that made up his 'family'. Perhaps it was the longing to meet others of his kind & spend time with them. The scholarly wizard could not quite put his paw on it.

Sirius walked into the HQ, a grin on his maw. It had been quite some time since he had felt this happy, and he himself know it. Ever since he had visited the HQ as often as he could, he kept meeting new people... Which resulted in entertainment for him.

Rounding a corner, Sirius spotted someone who feels familiar to him. He frowned, and approached the other kitsu quietly.

The sound of another kitsu entering behind him lightly got Remus' attention. It was faint, the sound, almost too quiet to perceive had the HQ any other kitsu moving around at the time. As it was turned around, as quickly as was casually possible.

He shut his mouth just as quickly as he gaped. Another kitsu in Hogwarts robes & Gryffindor scarf. The dark hair combined with the way the kitsu moved struck a memory... but the frown seemed out of place for that thought. Closing his eyes briefly to regain his inner composure. "Ah... I don't believe we have met." Here... he wanted to add on but did not.

"My name is Remus Lupin."

"Mine is Sirius Black."

He seemed lost for words, something that had not happened before. Blinking at Remus, he wanted to ask that if they had not met before, then why did he find him so familiar? Almost as if they knew each other... If not here, where? The first moment Sirius had laid his eyes on him, something rang in his head.

Shrugging those thoughts off, Sirius gave him his mischievous grin, "So, what brings you here?"

The name. The mischievous grin. It was Sirius. The shock of the revelation held Remus in thrall until after Sirius' question. He answered almost automatically. "Oh, just to get out of the house for a while. I couldn't sleep...."

Then his own thoughts caught up to him. "Sirius?!? By God, it is you!" A wave of feeling relaxed washed over him, calming Remus even in his excitement. "You are here too! This is wonderful!" He was smiling now, his eyes shining as if there was some great & wonderful new book to be found & read. "Then perhaps James might be here as well!"

He did not mention that his last memory of Sirius from before was his friend's death. No. That meant nothing here... here where a Dementor might be called his friend.

"What?" Sirius replied instantly, his mind mixed up between his previous life and now.

Wait a minute... Remus? James? Those names... He knew them. No wonder there was that feeling inside him when he first spotted his old friend. He gave a joyful laugh before replying, eyes shining, "Remus! I can't believe I didn't realise it sooner! I thought that I was the only one!"

Fully relieved & relaxed now, Remus hugged his dear friend. Well, as much as any quadruped can manage a hug. "Oh? You've not seen Harry? I ran into him briefly when I was a pup.” He grinned at the memory, intentionally leaving Severus out of the telling. No point marring this occasion by mentioning his name & getting Sirius riled up about it. "He was playing with a snitch, just like his father would. I thought he was James for a moment..."

"I've not seen him since though. Pity."

"I ran into Dumbledore when he was a pup & I was but a teen. That was quite discerning." So glad was he to have his dear friend with him again that he was coming just short of rambling. At least he was getting better at talking.

Everything in his mind clicked back into place as Sirius sat down on the floor. He grinned at his friend, "I've only seen Severus, you and a... Well, a Dementor." He frowned before giving a laugh, remembering what had happened just months before.

"That Severus has children here. I've never thought that I would live to see that day. This is like an alternate universe." Sirius continued with his infamous grin, "No, I've not seen Harry, although I would love to meet him... And the look on Dumbledore's face as a kit."

Remus smiled hearing this; only barely catching Sirius' frown. He'd caught no undercurrent of the old dissention between Sirius & Severus. Perhaps the potions master's family had a calming effect on Remus' friend as well. So you've seen Severus too, as well as some of his delightful family? Families do have a way of changing a fellow." There was a slight wistfulness to his voice. If Severus & even Dementor could have find mates, perhaps there was hope for him as well.

"Dementor has children too. My sister, Chroma, played with them when they were all pups." That grin of Sirius'... ah! How he had missed it! "I'm sure Harry would love to meet you too. He flies... he's an angelic." Remus shook his head, chuckling softly. "That came as a surprise too. Thought you might like to know."

"Dumbledore... ah." Another gentle grin. "Cute pup. Talked as well as I can remember from before." It was great, being with Sirius. Along with everything else, it was comforting to talk with another who shared similar experiences. Trelweny seemed to know about his world & life before as well as his 'condition', but his human could not relate to him the same as someone like him, no matter how she tried. "Which was interesting in its own way, coming from a pup."

"An angellic?" Sirius laughed, showing his surprise. "It is true, that boy's all good like an angel, but... But to put it in literally." He laughed again, from pure happiness of knowing that Harry's alright, and from being reunited with his old friend.

"Dumbledore is still the same as ever, then!" Sirius chuckled and added, "Would love to meet him and everyone else..."

"He's not as... Well, all I can say is that I don't seem to want to tease Severus anymore, that's for sure." He grinned, obverving Remus carefully. Chuckling, he nudged his friend with a paw. "You want to start up a family?"

Trust Sirius to pick up on that. Remus sighed. "There are a lot of families around. It's hard not to want to, well, want to be a part of something like that." He sighed again, more heavily. Sure he had hope that perhaps there was a female who might not fear his condition, but did he really want to subject anyone to that? "It would not be right for me though. Just not right to... subject anyone to my life."

He knew Sirius would know to what he referred. Part of him dreaded while part of him waited for his friend to talk him out of his way of thinking. Not that it ever lasted for long.

Remus tried changing the subject. "It's great that you don't want to tease Severus anymore. I've always wondered if he would have been less full of angst we had not teased him so much at Hogwarts." Even though he had not teased Severus, he felt the guilt. For his not stopping his friends was as much as agreeing it was all right. To him, that was the same as doing the deed himself.

"You'll make a good father. More then I would ever be, anyway." He replied, laughing, "If you really like someone, and someone likes you back, I don't think she would mind that part of your life." He chuckled and added as an afterward, "And make me your children's god-father."

At Remus' sudden change of subject, Sirius gave a shrug. "Well, you can't blame me." Sirius countered with a mock pout, "Severus was just so... Teaseable in Hogwarts. You have to admit that turning him upside down and exposing him was rather fun, even if it was... A little... Mean as you would call it?"

Sirius' points made sense, & Remus wanted to believe & agree with them... but he was too stuck in being self-depreciating. Still the assurances felt good. But making Sirius the children's Godfather? Well, of course. He only got a little weak at the thought. After all, Sirius had done rather well with Harry before. Considering the circumstances.

His relief was evident that Sirius accepted the subject change. Even so he was a bit uncomfortable about that particular memory from before. "ah, well yes. It was hard not to chuckle... " He'd rather not have remembered that... or his own amusement. "Mean. Harsh. I sometimes wonder if I had been in a different house if that could have been me you were teasing."

Okay. it had been one of those underlying thoughts; the one's you know you've had but do not fully recollect them until some odd moment when you realize it has been there for quite some time, influencing you. Such was the nature when Remus contemplated his own blind luck at finding friends in James & Sirius. Peter too; for at the time he had to show his duplicity.

"You? Why, you were made to be in Gryffindor!"

Sirius laughed, giving Remus a wink. "And fate even set us out to meet each other! One of the reasons why I'd always picked on Severus was because of the way he looks. Yes, I know that he can't help it, since that was the way he look like the moment he was born, but he's amusing in his own right."

Looking around, he continued, "At least I know that you're here."

He could not help but grin. One of the many things that was great about Sirius Black. At times Remus had been jealous of his friend's easy way with females, but Sirius' own comment not long ago showed how trivial that was. He found himself sympathizing with the poor females that undoubtedly were charmed by Sirius.

"It's worth everything to know you're here as well.” Another soft smile. "You know... I think I can sleep easy now. It's like everything is all right with the world."

"I should go home, so my new family doesn't worry for me. We'll meet up here again?” He was hopeful, & the question sounded as if it came from a much younger kitsu. It was the sound of one who had hope, & was desperately afraid of losing it.

Next Night (night before first day of the full moon)
Chroma literally bounced into headquarters. She was an adult now & felt much giddiness in the concept. Padding behind her, Remus too was unusually cheerful for a change -especially so close to the full moon which would torment him for the next three nights. Tonight was his last 'free' night for a while, & for once he was glad of it.

India stretched, the last of his nap wearing off. For having met a rather un-nerving character not long ago, he felt great. Letting one last yawn escape his maw, he glanced around. Amber eyes caught sight of a familiar coloration, but no. That couldn't be her, could it? Canting his head ever so slightly, he watched. There was Remus... So it was Chroma.

With a soft click, the door to the small room under the closet swung open and Tsu stepped out. Narrowing her eyes at the kitsu in the room, she made her way over to her pile of pillows and, sticking a muzzle in, nipped lightly on one pale brown ear. "Time to wake up, princess." ~You've been hogging my bed long enough~

Nari groaned, barely opening one eye to glare at Tsu. "Too early to get up.." Never mind that she had been sleeping all day. She preferred it that way. Tsu, however, merely flattened her ears back, leaving her with little choice. Pushing Tsu's glaring face out of they way with the tip of her fan, she straightened out her kimono and stepped out, sniffing the air for any familiar scents.

A fairly familiar yawn caught the new-adult's attention & she spun in a full circle looking for the source. In the blur she could see of the Head Quarters for doing that, Chroma recognized a favorite pattern. "India! Look! Look! I'm all grown up!"

Even as she spoke Chroma darted over to her friend. She was curious to see their size differences now that they were both adults. At least, she told herself it was only curiosity.

Remus grinned, even as his eyes kept constant watch over his little sister. "All grown up in size at any rate." Still rather jovial he meandered more sedately after Chroma, wondering if she would ever grow up in maturity. he almost hoped not. Her naivety & sweetness was rather refreshing.

Even though she was grown, India still had the edge in height, but barely. For a second, a small grin slipped to his maw. It faded almost as fast, but its sentiment remained. "Hey Chroma," he greeted nonchalantly. It was then a bit of their last conversation came back to him. As if to humor her question then, and even his own curiousity, he asked, "So, teeth grown, too?"

Chroma grinned to catch that smile, then her eyes took on a confused look as she pondered India's question. Now why had she not thought of that? Her mouth made funny movements as she ran her tongue around & over her teeth experimentally. "Ow!" She exclaimed in surprise, eyes widening & tongue pricked. "I'd say they're much sharper!" She looked up at India sheepishly.

Her brother could not fully suppress his chuckle at Chroma's antics. Not today when he felt so good. Who would have though that short time with Sirius the previous night would do him this much good? He supposed he had missed his friend far more than he would ever know.

"You'll have to be more careful from now on," he started, but whether this statement was meant seriously or merely a joke was hard to tell, "We wouldn't want you to really hurt yourself." Having said his piece on the subject, he stretched out his back, bum unintentionally raising as if he were going to pounce. Once he felt loose enough, he sat, bringing his all black tail to wrap about his paws. "What else is new?" He found himself questioning.

What else was new? Chroma blushed, not quite knowing why. Perhaps it was that little flutter inside that intensified when it seemed India was about to pounce. What was it about this kitsu that had her not minding sitting still & chatting instead of running around & playing? "Ah, well... I visited the mountain & wore a pink froofroo dress! That was fun!" Her head nodded enthusiastically, remembering the fun. She had not even noticed that the pink completely clashed with her red colorings.

Remus' chuckle turned into a choked giggle, remembering the sight. "Oh dear."

Siggy - now not as small as she was at one time, waltzed into the room in her non-fancy, slightly jagged way that she had adopted since just after her unfortunate accident with her closest friend (oddly enough.) Looking through her spectacles set on her muzzle, she hoped to see someone she knew - or someone she would get to meet.

Because damn. She was pretty.

India would never admit that he caught the blush. Instead he played it cool, trying to shrug it off as if it weren't something that caused his own face to warm slightly. But then again, that mostly faded when he heard what she said. "'Froo'...?" He mimicked, not exactly sure what the word meant. He tried to imagine her in a dress, but couldn't seem to. At least, not without knowing what 'froofroo' was.

Remus' head turned, hearing someone entering. He had to blink a few times to confirm what he saw. After all, it had been some time since he saw her; he himself was yet a teen at the time. If Chroma could be fully grown, why not the one who called herself Siggy?

Swallowing nervously he glanced back at his sister & India. "If you two would excuse me..." He nodded politely & left them. He had not been much part of their conversation anyway. Which was fine by him.

Showing a he did not feel, Remus pawed softly towards the adult Siggy. "ah, Hello. I don't believe we've met. I am Remus. Remus Lupin."

The courage must have come from Sirius' pep-talk last night. That... or merely seeing his friend again gave him the guts to be this forward. He certainly had never shown them before.

Chroma only gave a nodding glance to her brother's retreat. She knew he would keep her in sight. It was his way. For now she could pretend he was not here. "I think it means funny or odd or not matching..." She wrinkled up her nose. "I don't understand it myself... most clothes seem silly to me."

Even with the explaination, India found himself imagining her in a dark yellow dress now. But that didn't work, it matched! Finally, with an indignant huff, he gave up. Besides, it was silly trying to imagine Chroma in a dress, anyhow, he told himself. "I guess I'd have to agree," he offered, though he hadn't seen many Kitsu in clothes before. Well, Remus and Sirius had their robes. Dementor had his cloke. Nevertheless, that was the extent of clothes he'd seen.

It was then the male's stomach began to complain. An embarassed grin of sorts showed itself. It was times like this he wished his sister and her magic fruit bowl were around. Then again, were she around, she would probably just tease him. Bah. The tip of his black tail twitched slightly.

Hearing another voice near her, Siggy turned her entire body to face the other, as she could not balance herself to accomidate looking at where the voice had came from. Raising her eyebrows when she saw the sight - the Hogwarts Kitsu - whom reminded her of the other she had seen not too long before as a youth.

She smiled politely to the other and bowed her head, long hair running forward, hiding the scars from her torn up right side. "Gi'dday t' you thurr Sirrah Lupin. 'Pleasar t' meet you, aye, M'name is Sigourny-Sigfreid Acajou, but mos' people call m' Siggy." she introduced herself sweetly, wagglimg her tails. This was one of the fist times he didn't have the monster to show off.

Luned let out a yawn, as she streched out, her claws digging into the dirt. Her long yellow and brown spotted ears rotated back as she glanced to the HQ's doors with her shimmering green eyes. A slight frown formed upon her maw as she looked on, she was wary of going in. Turning her nose up she turned on her heal, walking over to a tree and flopping down next to it. It was a nice night, why spend it indoors when she could simply lay outside in the cool air.

Behind her, her tails swayed slowly, the tiped curled towards her body. Lifting a rust coloured paw she pushed her bright yellow bangs from her face. She'd head into the HQ another time, perhaps after she got used to these new suroundings.

When India's stomach 'spoke' Chroma cocked her head at him quizzically. "Are you hungry? Dontcha ever eat if I'm not here?” Though that was by far not the case -and she knew it on some level- Chroma still felt the need to say it that way. "Wanna go to the kitchen & see what's there?” She grinned at India. In the kitchen would be that much further away from Remus; not that she understood her desire to get out of his sight. Probably just because she could.

Ah... her voice was just as lovely in its interesting complexity as Remus remembered; though now it had a maturity to it that had only been hinted at when she was a kit. "Pleasure to meet you, Miss Sigfreid Acajou. Please call me Remy." He winced, hearing himself use Chroma's annoying nickname for him. "I mean Remus. Please call me Remus."

Oh dear. There he went again: showing his usual blunderings with females. What had he been thinking, listening to Sirius? He simply was inept at speaking with the fairer sex outside of classroom discussions.

A smirk replaced the last expression. "Nope," he answered jokingly. "Never." Turning off ahead of his younger counterpart, India made for the kitchen. What a novel idea. Hungry, grab a snack. Of course, his mind wasn't completely on food at the moment. Having known himself longer than anyone, he knew of his own sparingness when it came to jokes. Sarcasm, no problem, but jokes were another matter. Not that he was a completely serious character, he just found jokes un-useful. Shaking the thought away, he turned back to Chroma. "Coming?"

It was a miracle he was actually outside. This is what Harbinger could only muster up as he slinked around the garden outside, his white and black fur glinting in the night. He only THOUGHT he was in a good place for him to hide out in - as the little Harhar that once was, was now the huge Harhar that was flickering around slightly paranoid like. He was even bigger than Siggy - and she was HUGE!

Never the less, as he was thinking, he hadn't seen the root that caught up from under his large, clumsy foot - and tumbled out of the garden, and near the gold one, with a large FWUMP.

---

Siggy chuckled happily when she noticed the poor kitsu in front of her fall over his own muzzle, and waggled her tails, as she looked down to him - her size overpowered most that she knew since she grew - and she was somewhat self-conscious of it.

Bowing gracefully again, she was content though - to meet others by herself, and adjusted her glasses before talking once more to her new acquiantance. "Remus, Aye? 'T really does sound relatively feral, 'fits perty well I must say, aye." She chirped about his name. "A pleasuah s'all mine, 'an w'om are those two t'at are walkun' towards the kitch'n, by the by?" She asked curiously - happy to learn about her world now that she beared over it.

Happily, Chroma beamed. She was glad she reminded him to eat. The idea that he might be joking did not cross her mind. Chroma was overjoyed to hear the laughing tone to his words. "Of course!" She trotted after India with eagerness. She wondered idly if she was hungry too.

Remus breathed a sigh of relief that Siggy had taken him up on the revision, not the blunder. "I suppose it is rather feral. I'd never really thought of it that way." He wondered what she would think of his nickname, Moony, & shook the thought away. "hmm... who?" casually he followed her gaze seeing India & Chroma heading for the kitchen. Worry automatically touched his brow, but this too he shook off. She was an adult... and India was a nice young kitsu. "That would be my sister Chroma & her friend India." He really had to school himself not to call after Chroma. At least he knew where she was. "I believe they are both younger than yourself."

Luned's jade eyes widened as she spung up, a large white ball of fluff falling right in front of her. Quickly her ears had flicked back, pressing against the back of her skull for just a moment, before they rotated back around, almost like a set of horns pointing towards the large clump in front of her.

Her three tails stilled, as she poked her nose closer to the one that fallen towards her. She blinked, titlting her head to the side. "Who tha 'ell are you?" she questioned, her nose wrinkling. "Were 'ya acting the maggot o' something?" She lifted a paw, gently poking at the fluffy one's side.

Thanks to his sister and her magical fruit, there hadn't been many occasions for India to venture into the kitchen. The brightness and cleanliness that clashed so with the normal gathering room of the HQ stung at his eyes. Well, here was a place he hoped to avoid. Perhaps he could con some family member into bringing him something when he was hungry from now on.

His ears idly flicked back to the femme's following footsteps. "So..." he drawled, trying not to sound too out-of-the-know. "What's there to eat?" A quick scan of the kitchen produced little results in his eyes.

Siggy was so curious about everything, she smiled wildly and nodded to the other, admitting the names to her internal book, her tails flickering softly behind her, as she heard the other make note about her age. "Ahh, 'mstill youn' at'eart thar still - So 'ow 'as it been for ye in this 'ousehold?" She asked, obviously once again curious about the other, laying down near him, obviously avidly listening.

Somehow she wondered if a certain warmonger would bloe up into the room soon.

---

A surprised squeek emitted from the bundle of fur that had appeared infront of the golden and rust furred femme, his blood red eyes wide in fear as he jumped back - making sure that what had just touched him wasn't going to spawn his eminent death or pain.

But instead, his eyes caught another kitsu, and his sudden large mane and fearbubble popped, and he suddenly went down to a more regular - but yet spooked and rediculously fluffy kitsu, who showed immense fear of everything. "H-h-h-hellosorryI'msosorryIdidn'tmeantos-s-startleyou!" he wailed out when he finally found his voice, bowing to the other rushingly, looking up to her once again.

Luned blinked as the large creature leaped backwards, his voice stuttering and slured together. A rather timid lad it seemed...Was he even a Kitsu? He certainly was huge, bigger then her at least...Or maybe it was the fur. She shruged off the thought.

"Well aren't 'ya rather gobsmacked." her voice held a rather teasing tone in it, as she sat back upon her haunches, tails curling themselves around her legs. "Y'er not a norm'l Kitsu, are 'ya?" Of course when one thought about it, he had to be one...But either he was having a very bad hair day or he wasn't one of the more common normal species.

She paused, a sudden thought coming to mind. "Ye wou'n't 'appen to be hammered...Would 'ya?" ( she's asking if he's drunk XD )

Chroma too blinked at the pristine-ness of the kitchen. Their family's kitchen was not near so bright. "Trelweny keeps all of our food in the refrigerator or cabinets.” Curiously she pawed at the refrigerator door. "The 'fridge usually has the good stuff, though cookies are sometimes in the cabinets.” Although she liked cookies, Chroma preferred the ones Trelweny would bake for them over the ones stored in the cabinets. With a little grunt she wrestled the refrigerator door open & squealed in delight. "Look! Jackpot!”

Fruit & veggies lay in the crisper while meats, jellies, & other refridgerable foodstuffs filled the shelves. No bananas though. Which was good, because bananas did not take well to refrigeration. Idly, Chroma wondered where they might be kept in this kitchen.

"I just...ah... of course young at heart is most important.” Oh. That was a flounder. Remus did not even know why he had mentioned ages at all. Certainly he did not care about them; other than a frame of reference they gave. "This household? Perchance do you mean around here or the family I live with?" As Siggy lay down -closer than he might have suspected her to (if he suspected she would at all)- the scholarly kitsu felt quite flustered. As calmly as he could manage he lay down as well, deciding to answer both possible questions. "Rather better than I might have expected. For both. Here, there is almost always someone interesting to meet, watch, or converse with. At home, there is much love & understanding, with fun times too." Saying it aloud, Remus startled himself. His life was pretty good. Great even. He had simply not bothered to see it that way.

Coming up at her side, India poked his nose in. The chilled air surprised him, for he'd never had the opportunity to be so close inside the machine. The male's nose twitched, ears unconsciously sliding back. "Cold, eh?" He asked simply, though it was little more than small talk to remedy the not so uncomfortable, but rather flustering feeling of closeness to Chroma.

Not wanting to waste anymore time being frozen by the fridge, he nipped at the crisper until he was able to pry the drawer from its position. Looking inside, he quickly spotted his second favorite fruit. While it didn't rate compared to bananas, he grabbed quickly at a pear and moved away from the open door. Standing, pear in mouth, he waited for the femme to finish her search.

The female smiled as she looked down at her paw, scratching the floor a bit with it - the ghost pains of the that lain with it before only reminding her of what was once. Looking up once again to see that her companion had copied her, as she shook her head from the lasting memories. "Wrell tha's pretteh good then. I'v'nt 'ad th'time to find m'self a place in this area for m'self." she mused lightly, looking around the area.

This was an impecably perfect time for her guardian - Aoki, to finally make his mark on the house, as helifted her middle tail and looked around through his copper eyes "OOoooo what do we have heeeree" he chirped, playfully.

--

Harbinger finally realized he was making a folly of himself, and curled up into his own fur, sitting down briskly as he listened to the other kistu, noticing that she - too - was smaller than he was fur size - and that the lord Xerros was right, Harhar was a bit peculiar. Which kind of made me feel good inside.

"N-not tanked, no - I'm just.. a bit high strung.. " he muttered, looking down at his large paws as he finally answered the other through mutters and mumbles. "I'm supposedly a-a "snow" kitsu. Big and fluffy, l-like a gigantic furry heater.. As I've b-been called." he chuckled at what he had been called by Adi.

Chroma giggled at India's comment about it being cold. She grabbed a crisp apple, swirled in her own colors without the blue. More practiced with snagging food from 'fridges, she shut the crisper than the door. She was not very hungry. Just enough to keep India company so he did not have to eat alone. "A little cold. But there's plenty of ways to warm back up again!"

Remus was about to comment when Siggy's tail lifted. A chirp from under his own robes sounded greeting at the other guardian. Once again, Remus had taken his guardian's presence for granted. "Ah... what might you be looking for in a place for yourself?" He hoped his tone indicated his willingness to help her find it.

As soon as his companion had her own snack, India took to eating his. The cool juice soothed his rumbling stomach, however, his method of eating offered little comfort. As usual, he was reluctant to set the food down, resulting in an awkward way of eating. It didn't help much when Chroma spoke next. Practically choking on the last of his fruit, he spat out the core. Never had it occured to the male how his mind could wander to such things. Besides, he highly doubted she had any intentions other than innocent ones. "Yeah," he agreed idly, inhailing deeply.

"Mmmmm..." she nodded slowly listening to the other speak, her center tail unwrapping itself from around her legs to slowly twitch in the air. A Snow Kitsu. Well that made sense. He was covered in such puffy fur, it must definatly keep him warm during those cold winter days.

However one question rose to her mind. "'ow do ya' stand th' 'eat with all tha' fur?" She was certain, had she as puffy of fur that he did she'd not be able to stand being outside at all. She'd probably spend such times indoors...In front of a fan.

Her tail one middle tail flicked back and forth slowly in the air before it stilled, remaining perked up. "There 'ain't 'n re'son ta' be shook." He gaze shifted from Harbringer, as she looked about the area. There really wasn't anything to be freaked out about, not that she could see anyways. Perhaps he was simply parrinoid.

Her intentions had been purely innocent. However little did Chroma know -even though she had dutifully listened while her human explained all about it- how even the most innocent of actions could lead to less innocent intentions. Chroma crunched on her apple happily, oblivious to how her words might be taken & not worried about eating the seeds or stems too. When India nearly choked she looked at him in concern. "Oh! Are you okay?"

For whatever reason -instinct or other subconscious push- Chroma moved closer to India to offer her support.

"Fine," India muttered hastily. Amber eyes flicked sideways to observe the movement, but he made no retreating move of his own. Subconsciously, he wondered what had happened to his normal self. The real deal never got so flustered over the presence of another. Not only that, but he couldn't help but think of what might happen if his sister ever caught wind of it. He'd never live it down.

"I just swallowed a bit of juice the wrong way," he offered in explaination, faulty though it was. As in habit, his all black tail swung around to wrap protectively about his forepaws.

Still concerned, Chroma nuzzled India gently. "Would you like some water? I could find a bowl & I know how to work the taps."

It would be much easier too, now that she was full-grown. However she made no move to do so. If Chroma was a more thinking kitsu she might have wondered why. As it was, she was loathe to move right now.

With a family like his, India had received quite a few nuzzles and displays of affection. Even so, he could feel his body stiffen at the contact. "No, I'm alright." As soon as the words left his maw, he mentally slapped himself. Had he taken her up on the offer, that would bring at least a temporary break in the closeness in which he could gather his thoughts. But ah, no such luck. He would be hard pressed to admit he might've said no to keep her close

Chroma wondered at India's stiffening. Remus never stiffened when she consoled him. For that matter, why did she feel all tingly at the action? She certainly did not feel that sort of sensation when she was close to anyone in her family.

And why was she not more interested in running & playing. For a moment Chroma wondered if perhaps India had magic like Remus, but one look at him and that concept was thrown to the winds. He did not look like someone casting spells.

Still, there was certainly something in the air that had a magical feel to it. Confused as to what to do, Chroma reverted to her failsafe question. "Wanna play?"

Despite any actions he took to stop himself other times, no matter how religiously honed and sharpened he kept his control, India laughed. And not a little laugh, but a full out laugh that a close relation wouldn't expect to come from his maw. Perhaps it was merely an action to cover up his own insecurities or maybe he truly found humor in this situation. Whatever the case, it was a good minute before the male's fit was calmed.

"I'm sorry..." he muttered between remnants of a chuckle. "I'm sorry, I just..." For all the times he tossed a sarcastic comment or two, he found himself unable to come up with a thing to say. There really was no explaination for his action. Rather, only a feeling that he'd just as soon push away to save confusion. At least, that's what he tried to tell himself.

Although she had no idea what was so funny, Chroma could not help but giggle as India laughed. Her eyes twinkled with merriment. He looked so free when he laughed. "What? Did I tickle you?" The tone of concern drifted away, & an impish quality filtered into both her voice & eyes. "You're not ticklish... are you?"

No matter what his answer, Chroma intended to find out for herself if India should stop smiling. A nice light tickling almost always brought smiles. It was when it became harsh that the fun left the game.

India let out a long, drawn breath. That laugh was strange for him. It'd taken a lot out of him. Laying down, his head seemed to fall sideways onto his paws as soon as he was settled. Even after that, he carefully manuvered his paws so that his head was set with the floor. The cool surface dulled the slight, but not really uncomfortable pounding.

"Nope," he drawled. "Not ticklish in the least." Truth be told, he had no idea if he was ticklish or not. Stretching out his back legs to their fullest and then curling the up again, he seriously contemplated taking a nap right on the kitchen floor. Still, unusually, the smile stuck on his maw, whereas normally it would've disappeared by now. Lucky him, it seemed he just might be safe from Chroma's 'wrath.'

"Oh. You're not? That's too bad. Tickling is fun." Impressively for her, she made a mental note to test the truth of that later. Perhaps when India was not already smiling & seeming so comfortable. Though much escaped the primary hued kitsu, she had learned that even the most truthful was prone to fib about their own ticklishness.

India's stretching was infectious & soon Chroma stretched as well. Then with surprise she yawned. In confusion she blinked her eyes. She had not played. What could possibly have caused her to become sleepy.

Having no answer she cocked her head at India's curled form. He looked comfortable. As in 'comfortable like a pillow' comfortable. Well why not? With abandon she would show any in her family, Chroma curled beside India & lay her head upon his shoulder. The thought that he might not want her there did not cross her mind. But then, it is quite clear that many thoughts did not bother Chroma's mind.

((me too. This is a good place to call it a night. ))

Remus thanked Siggy for their chat, bowing deeply to the Scottish lass as he rose. It was time to go home. With a sigh he headed to the kitchen to gather Chroma. The sight he saw caused his eyes to soften. They looked comfortable, & he did not want to disturb them. However, he also knew that he could not simply disappear without a word. Not when he would not be seeing Chroma for the next three days again.

Ever so gently he tiptoed into the kitchen, until he could easily whisper in Chroma's ear. "Chroma... Chroma-dear."

"Hmm? What?" She answered sleepily, one sky-blue eye opening slightly to see him. She smiled drowsily. "Do we have to go home? I'm comfy." Even near sleep the pout could be heard.

His heart ached. He hoped Trelweny would not be upset at him for his decision. "I have to go home. You can stay here." He licked her forehead fraternally. "I just wanted to say goodbye, as I'll be away for a few days."

The implications of this, were of course lost on the tired female. "Okay." He turned to slip away. "Remy?"

Remus swallowed the automatic correction. "Yes, Chroma-dear?"

"Thanks..." Chroma murmured, falling asleep.

Where he stood, Remus smiled. "You're welcome. Sleep well." With that he softly padded outside, heading home.

After Full Moon

Remus steps into headquarters, followed closely by an ultra-hyper Chroma. His eyes are rolling & his steps are slow & carefully placed. Three-day old scars are healing, but it is evident that they still cause some discomfort. He was pleased to emerge from his solitary to find Chroma home & waiting anxiously for him. Although her constant talk about India was amusing, he hoped for something new that she might talk about. "Chroma dear, are you certain you've matured?" Again, the eyes roll.

Adult, but acting the spirited youngling, Chroma looks at her brother in confusion. "Of course! Look how adult I am!" She struts here adult self for a moment, almost regally, then digresses back to her usual self. "India knows I'm an adult!"

A shake of the head. "Oh? & why does it matter so much to you what India thinks or knows?"

The hyper kitsu paused in her tracks, almost thinking what Remus was trying to get her to realize for herself. The moment passed, & she grinned at the wizard. "He's my friend!"

Remus sighs. "That he is, Chroma dear. That he is." and perhaps more, my dear sister?

24 June 2006
Remus & Chroma walk into Headquarters. Chroma is watching a lump move around under her brother's robes. "How can he breathe under there?"

Glancing backwards haphazardly, Remus' mouth curved ever so slightly into a smile. "I do not know, Chroma-dear, but my guardian sure seems to manage."

Snorting her dissatisfaction with the answer, Chroma bounded around the room looking in every possible sleeping spot. Remus smiled sadly. "It does not seem he's here today."

The bright kitsu grinned rather wildly. "I don't know what your talking about, Remy."

"India. I know you were looking for him, I do not believe he is here. And it's Remus" He reminded her gently.

Croma's face fell. "I think I'll look in the kitchen..." She started off rather dejected for her. "For something to eat, of course." With a force bound Chroma went off.

"Of course." The scholar muttered to himself, withdrawing his current book from within his robes. His little sister might not see or understand her own feelings, but Remus did. And though he envied her those feelings, he also was very happy for her.

Ember shuffled in, wearily flopping down by the couch and closing his eyes. He stayed that way for a moment or two, and then a frown crept over his face. He felt like somebody was watching him. He'd been known to be paranoid like this before, but it didn't do any harm to look, right?

But what if there was something scary there? Maybe it was best to keep his eyes closed. But no, it could still get him...! Cautiously, Ember opened his eyes, relaxing only slightly as he saw that it was just another kitsu. But of course, that meant he'd have to at least be polite and say hello..

With a sigh of reluctance, Ember hauled himself to his feet and padded over. "H-hi...?" he mumbled, bobbing his head and keeping his eyes down. "I, uhm...I'm Ember."

Remus glanced up from his book. He had not noticed the other kitsu arrive, but that was not surprising when he was reading. Normally it was Chroma who noticed activity. For a second his gaze left the new kitsu -Ember was his name- to glance at the kitchen briefly. No sign or sound from his sister. He brought his glance back to the Ember, seeing the top of his head. "Hello. I am Remus J. Lupin. Most call me Remus."

"Remy!" Chroma called with a laugh from the kitchen. Remus rolled his eyes. "My sister, Chroma." He said by means of explanation & apology for the outburst. "It is a pleasure to meet you." Gingerly he set his book down between his forepaws. "Are you new around here? Not that I have meet everyone, by far, though I know none of my family has spoke of meeting you."
Ember nodded distractedly, his eyes seemingly glued on the book that Remus had just put down. He could almost make out the title, though it was upside-down...and he didn't think he'd seen this book before. Fascinating.

He was staring, Ember noticed, quickly dropping his eyes back to the floor with an embaressed cough. What had Remus asked? "I, uhm...I'm sort of new, I s-suppose.." he mumbled, nodding again. "N-nice...nice to meet both you... and your sister." Ember nodded at the kitchen as he added this last part. Best to be polite. "What're you reading?"

"hmmm?" Remus was not used to many noticing or even mentioning his books & it took him a moment to register the question. "oh, this?" Sliding the ribbon from the binding into the crease to keep his place he flipped it around so that the title "Uses of Magic in the Muggle World: & other More Magical Realms" could be read. "It's just a book my human asked our GaiaCom to find for me." He shrugged nonchalantly, used to playing down his love for books but the joy of the tome was in his eyes & voice. "I've a modest collection at home."

Modest collection meaning any of Trelweny's books he wished to read & most of the new library wing they recently added to the house. The witch GaiaCom Myranda added to the collection with her conjuring whenever asked. Remus let slip a little sigh of happiness at the thought of an endless supply of reading material.

"Muggle..." Ember mumbled, trying to remember where he'd heard that word before. He almost had it, but then...nope. Nothing. "I..wow. That's cool. I..I love books..." Ember confided in Remus with a sheepish grin, hungrily staring at the cover as if, if he stared hard enough, he could read it though it was closed.

"S-sorry..." he mumbled, hunching his shoulders defensively. "I shouldn't...p-pry into what others are doing. I just c-can't...can't seem to help myself where books are involved."

A huge grin spread across Remus' face. His eyes lit up. "You do? That's incredible!" Remus was getting excited now. "I've not come across many kitsu who enjoyed a good book, not even those from where I come from..." He trailed off momentarily. There was no need to get into that. Not when books could be discussed. "I'd offer to loan you this one, but it's really structured for some one of my background & as you can see I'm in the middle ..." He frowned, thinking. "Ah! Yes!" As if a lightbulb flashed overhead Remus brightened once more, becoming quite animated. With deft paw he reached into his cloak & withdrew a paperback book, slightly smaller & certainly thinner than the hardcover he was reading. "There it is! I kept it on hand in case I wanted to cross reference something. Very useful -even if it is theory- & enlightened in not only magic as I am familiar with it, but other magics as well." Smiling, Remus passed the book to Ember. The cover was a dull tan, with black letters giving the title as "Magical Realms & the Practices of Magics within & without: A theory of cross-reality magic."

He watched to see Ember's reaction. "You really must read that one before this one will make sense, I'm afraid. But by the time you're through I should be finished reading this as well."

Ember's eyes lit up as Remus offered him the paperback, and he gently took it, as delicately as if it had been made of spun sugar. "Thank you so much!!" He exclaimed, tucking the book into a pocket of his pants. Part of him urged him to go and start it right now, but that would be rude, and so he would wait. For as long as he could manage it, anyway. He wriggled in excitement, grinning happily at Remus- his new friend, he decided, he had to befriend this fellow reader.

"I can't wait to read it, I haven't ever seen either of these, and I almost never find good new reading material!" He exclaimed gleefully, bobbing his head in a sort-of-bow.

Remus was ecstatic himself. Both the scholar & one-time-professor in him were thrilled. "You are most welcome. I'm so pleased you like it." That much was clearly evident. Remus practically shone with joy. "We should meet up more often. You would never have to want for new books. I would be honored to share what I can get with someone who relishes books as much as you obviously do."

His tails flopped up & down with happiness. He had friends in Hogwarts -& that was a joy & blessing indeed- but though they accepted him & made Remus feel wanted & included, none of them had understood his passion for knowledge. Lily had come close, but though they became friends through James & later the Order he never was as close to her as he was to James & Sirius. Remus did not let him think of the other -no dark clouds of memory this bright day.

Ember's eyes widened as Remus offered to provide reading material, and her couldn't help himself. Normally he would not display such a bold act of affection, but now he flung himself at Remus, gleefully laughing. "Thank you!" He cried again and again, thinking of the things he could learn and read and know!

"I'm so happy..." He admitted, grinning shyly, "I haven't been this excited since...since...I can't even remember the last time I was this excited!"

Stifling a small yawn, Nari poked her head into the main room. Her guardian floated behind her, small wings fluttering quickly as he tried to keep up with her. Her fan was tucked into her obi, alongside a small battered book. She didn't recognize any of the kitsu present, but then, she hadn't really met anyone.. yet.. Only Noko.

"umph! Ember's sudden hug knocked the wind out of him. When he could breathe again Remus chucked. "You're welcome."

With affection he usually only showed Chroma, Remus hugged the other in return. "Nor I." Funny... for the moment Remus was able to forget that he had the werewolf's curse upon him. Amazing what a shared love of something could do. He had never known how wonderful it was to have someone to share his passion for books with. Certainly he had been excited to see Sirius whom he had thought dead, but this was a different kind of excitement, a different kind of joy.

"You know, I do not mind if you want to read a bit right now." Remus well knew the anticipation of opening a new book. "It must be burning your paw, not opening it yet." He drew back & winked.

Pausing, Nari sat by the entrance, her ears flicking as she looked over the others gathered. Not many here tonight. Smoothing the edge of her kimono down, she got back to her feet and trotted towards the two males.

Noko was bored. Very bored. Obiwan had kept her company lately but he was meditating alot. Even maul was training. And the new addition jareth...well he turned her into a goblin once but turned her right back. Needless to say she stayed the hell away from him at all costs. sighing she rolled over on her back and stared at the door. Thats when nari made her entrance. " HEY!!!" she squealed happily waving at her sister.

Remus looked up at the sound of an unknown female voice. Only then did he notice the two winged kitsu females & he flushed. "Or perhaps we should wait to read until another time." He amended to Ember softly. "It would be an honor simply reading in the company of one who appreciates the written word, but it appears we are no longer alone." he nodded, indicating the females.

Louder he addressed the sisters. "Good day, ladies."

Startled by the sudden squeal from beind her, Nari stumbled in her steps as sheneared the two males. Flushing, she regained her step and sat next to them before turning her head to her sister. "Not very ladylike, oneeeesan " Spotting the book in Ember's possession, she nodded. "You like to read?"

Ember nodded to the winged female, and to Remus. To the former, he replied "I l-love to read...and I love books." He smiled gratefully at Remus once more, saying "We'll have to meet up again soon. But right now...I want to get reading." With another gleeful smile, Ember bounded to the couch, burying himself in the wonders of the written word.

Remus smiled as Ember opened the book & began to read. "It seems we both, do." He continued for his new friend. "I must apologize, I suggested he should read... and well..." He flustered with sheepishness. "I fear we bookworms are hard to tear away from a new book."

He chuckled, to ease his embarrassment. "I do not believe I've had the pleasure of your acquaintance. I am Remus J. Lupin, but you may call me Remus."

"Remy!" Chroma called out laughingly on cue from the kitchen. "Bloody hell! Is she just waiting for that?" The normally dignified wizard choked under his breath. He had almost forgotten his sister was still around. He swallowed roughly. "eh... my sister, Chroma. She is ... looking for someone."

Next Day
Having managed to dodge both Chroma & the talaye Weasley twins, Remus made his way into the kitsusagi headquarters. He had a few books with him this time, as he was almost finished with "Uses of Magic in the Muggle World." The only reason he had not finished was due to the continual interruptions at home. Not that he was not normally left alone when he read in the library... he just had not been today.

The truth was, Remus was not particularly looking for a place to read today. He simply felt a need to be away from his family. Hence having to avoid Chroma on his way out. The wizard sighed; he knew he would apparate home to get his little sister if he saw her paramour, but he would cross that hurdle if it happened.

Ember lay on the couch once more, engrossed in the last couple pages of his book. He didn't even register that somebody had entered the room until he again got that terrifying somebody-is-watching-me feeling. Peering over the top of his book, he spotted Remus with yet more books! Excited, he bounded over to him as though he was much younger, grinning happily. "Hiya, Remus!" he chirped, eyeing the books. "Cha reading?"

The robed kitsu grinned. "Oh, the same. I'm afraid I didn't get much reading in today." His tone was slightly rueful, but not too upset about it. "Family does have the tendency to cut into one's reading time."

"I brought a new book, incase I had the chance to finish but I don't think I'll need it tonight." He grinned, not looking the least bit disappointed. Unlike some bookworms, Remus understood & appreciated the importance of socializing & particularly friends.

"Oh..." Ember mumbled, looking at his feet momentarily. "I wouldn't know. I don't really have any family, I don't think...Autumn brought home an egg, but that's not really family of mine...I think it would be nice, to have a family." He shrugged, smiling happily at Remus. "Maybe I'll just have to share yours."

What on earth was wrong with him? Ember frowned, puzzled. He was never this happy, never this confident with somebody else! It must be the books, he reasoned, and nodded to himself. Yes, that was it. Remus was his book-buddy...nothing more, not even really his friend, though he'd like to be Remus's friend.

He chuckled at first. "If your human is bringing home strange eggs that are not meant for the breakfast table you will likely be getting a family soon enough." His eyes crinkled at the thought of both that & sharing a family. "I don't know if you'll want to share my family, once you've met them... though Chroma is likely to adopt you if you let her either way." Yes, his darling sister would likely do that. "You can judge for yourself... if you ever visit our home to see the library."

Concern changed the look of his eyes as Remus noticed Ember's frown. "ah... did I over-step? If I upset you, I am sorry."

"N-no!" Ember assured Remus, shaking his head. "I'm not..I'm not upset. Really. It's fine."

As Remus chatted about his family, and about eggs and libraries and stuff, Ember got a strange feeling in the pit of his stomache. It was almost like lonliness, but that made no sense, because he had somebody there with him. Stupid pointless emotions, he thought unhappily. As Remus pretty much suggested that he come and visit- at least from Ember's point of view- Ember blinked at him in surprise, and then grinned once more, nuzzling him gratefully. "Would you really want me to come and visit?" He asked excitedly, though he still sounded as though he thought maybe Remus was going to laugh at him. "Your library and everything?"

Remus relaxed somewhat, but remained cautious. It seemed his new friend & fellow lover of knowledge -especially from books- was even more of a recluse than he (Remus) ever was. The last thing he wanted to do was scare Ember away.

Still, he took Ember's answer at face value & continued on as if nothing untoward had occurred. "Certainly." A pleasant & welcoming smile spreading over his mouth. "I would not have mentioned it otherwise."

Ember's excitement was infectious, & Remus felt his tails wagging. "I know I can trust you with the books." He smiled as if in conspiracy. "One cannot fake a love & respect of books."

Not around Remus, at least.

Ember bounced up and down eagerly, beaming at his fellow bookworm. "I have to warn you," he teased, "once you get me in a room with that many books, you may find it hard to get me to leave." A chill went up his spine at the thought of a whole library filled with books...in somebody's house. It was something like paradise in his mind. "...Why're you so nice to me?" he asked suddenly, cocking his head to the side in curiosity. "You d-don't know anything about me, except that I love the written word, and books, and learning, and....y-you don't know anything else about me."

"Of course." He grinned, thinking that spending time with a fellow reader just reading would be terrific.

That question made him pause. Why was he? Well, Remus was usually nice to most he met unless given a reason not to be. Still he did not usually invite anyone home. With clarity Remus knew it was the mutual love of books that set him so at ease. Suddenly, he did not know why he should need another reason & smiled with inner peace & wisdom at that understanding. "Is that not enough?"

"I suppose it is..." Ember replied, slightly glumly. Stupid, he berated himself, stupid for thinking that he liked you for anything but your shared love of books. What else would there be? Your astounding good looks? Your charming personality? Idiot.

"I'd love to see your library." He commented with a slightly less bright grin and a nod. "Whenever you'll have me."

Watching as Ember became glum, Remus was forced to acknowledge he had made an error. Not in trusting the other kitsu, but in something he had said. Remus had made a grave error & he was baffled as to what it might have been. What had he said wrong? He simply did not know.

"I look forward to your visit." Somehow, he too was not as happy as he had been just moments before. The knowledge of his own slip-up casting a shadow he could not shake off. "I'll bring a map next time I come here. You can come whenever you like, for if I'm not here I am there."

He almost mentioned that Ember not come during the full moon but stayed the thought, deciding to tell him that when he had a map to present to him. Perhaps I will have been able to mend this rift I inadvertently created by then. The scholar thought sadly to himself.

New Day
One would not know by watching the colorful kitsu run circles around the stoic wizard that her mood had been shifting up & down without any pattern or warning for days on end now. In the center of his lively sister's rings of movement Remus sighed. For the love of all things Holy let her see India tonight or I'm likely to lose it! Remus himself was in a sad state. He had gone back & forth over his conversation with Ember the other night & still could not see where he had gone wrong & managed to upset the other kitsu. He sighed again. He had even forgotten to give him the new book to borrow.

The scholarly wizard had taken to carrying the map he had mentioned to Ember just in case they crossed paths. Perhaps that would set it right.

"Rem-y!" Chroma whined from ahead of him. "Come on!! We're nearly there!" With a flick of her yellow & red tails she dashed through the doorway.

Following her at an only slightly faster pace then before, Remus corrected his little sister... again. "Remus."

Waiting for him on the other side of the door Chroma laughed.

India yawned, stretching and rolling over onto his back. Another night of nothing. Fun. Allowing his legs to swim through the air for a while, he sighed. After everything that had happened, he had come to expect action. Sadly, there had been none. The male's legs flopped back down and he lay on his side, eyes tightly shut until he happened to hear a familiar laugh. Cracking an eye, he was suddenly excited to see the femme. "Chroma!" he called out, despite himself, all black tail flicking.

Roy sighed as he slowly entered the HQ, a tiny kit holding one of his tails with her maw. Since Kaida had gone partially blind, it was up to the Flame Alchemist to help aid the 'helpless' kitsu everywhere. Kaida suddenly let go of Roy's tail and pricked her ears up. "I hear voices," she stated, her eyes locked on a wall. Roy stopped and looked back at her. "come on. Your father is waiting for you," he told her sharply. Kaida turned her gaze towards the Alchemist and started to pout. "but Uncle Roy," protested the tiny kitsu. Sighing, Roy gently picked up Kaida by the scruff of her neck with his maw and started walking again.

Chroma's whole being lit up. Even Remus had to smile. "India!" She practically screamed in happiness, spinning around so she could see him. In fluid motion as her spin brought her to face him Chroma sprinted at him in an action that would likely plow India to the ground if she could not cease her momentum in time. Too bad she rarely thought that far ahead. In fact, the only thought in her head was to simply get to him.

Chuckling to himself, Remus found himself standing still with head tilted to the heavens & eyes lightly closed. Thank God.

Kaida thumped her tail against Roy's chest. "See, i told you I heard someone. Now will you please let me down!" complained the tiny kitsu. Sighing, Roy caved into Kaida's demands and let her down. Instantly, Kaida scampered off, instantly forgetting that she was partially blind. After a few minutes, she bumped into a wall, a few yards away from Remus. Slowly, she dizzily picked herself off of the ground and was wisked off of her feet by Roy again. 'Aww...come on. It was only an accident," she pleaded to Roy. The Alchemist kitsu shook his head slightly and placed Kaida on his back. "Sorry for the trouble she caused," he told Remus in an apologetic voice.

Though he too was rather happy, the sight of her speeding towards him with no obvious intention to stop caused his eyes to widen. Claws scraped at the ground as he attempted to escape, however, with her speed, it seemed futile. India could feel the wind being knocked out of him as she hit his form. Unluckily for him, he had only enough time to make his entire side a target before she'd reached him. Falling to the floor with a loud huff, he sighed. "Nice to see you, too..." he breathed out.

Kaoru walked through the area. She had not been around for a while. She could think it was around may that she was last her or something like that. Kaoru looked about. Nothing had changed. She then spoted Roy. Her tails wagged happily. This made her happy. Kaoru walked over to him. "Hello Roy,"she said in his ear.

Roy turned his head around to see his mate. Slowly, he put Kaida on the ground and started walking towards Kaoru. "Then again, I changed my mind. Have fun!" he told he tiny kitsu cheerfully. Pouting slightly, Kaida shuffled over to a tiny hole in the wall and pulled out a small piece of paper. She glanced at it for a few seconds before smiling evily and putting the paper back in the wall. "Just you wait, my pretty. I shall have Roy all to myself once I have gotten rid of you," she muttered to herself under her breath.

The wizard opened his eyes at the sound of a kit running into a wall nearby. He nearly did a double-take upon hearing the mature kitsu's voice. "No need. There was no trouble." To the kit he added. "Are you all right, little one? That sounded like a bad bump."

He winced at the sound of Chroma & India 'reuniting'. "It seems tonight is starting out rather dangerously."

Chroma was too excited to notice that she might have hurt the object of her affections. Not that she understood that either. "India! How've you been? What'cha been doing? Was it fun? How's your sister? Didja miss me?" Then noting he was somewhat out of breath she paused, her head cocking to the side with some confusion. Concern filled her eyes & words. "India... are you okay?"

Kaida gazed in the direction of the voice and pricked her ears up. "I'm fine...for now. Where are you?" she asked curiously. Squinting slightly, she could see a fuzzy outline of the kitsu and she slowly walked over to him.

It took him a minute, but India was able to process each question. Really, he wasn't sure if she expected an answer to each one, but what they heck. It'd been a while, right? Turning to face her (as best as possible) he cleared his throat. "I've been okay, I guess, but better. I learned stuff about my family. No, it really wasn't that much fun. Kitten... er... Keiki was on 'bed rest' last time I saw her. Injuries. And yes, I missed you a lot, actually." That last sentance was kind of hushed. He hoped the news of his sister would catch her attention instead. "And I'm fine, but you could get off," he suggested, though he couldn't hold back the thought that it wasn't necessary to do so.

"I am guessing she having a hard time seeing lately. Is she suffering from glemcoma (sp)," asked Kaoru somewhat consurened. Kaoru then smiled and gave Roy a kiss on the cheek. "Soo how have you been."

Roy nodded his head slightly. "yeah, though I am a little puzzled as to why she is going blind. She was fine as a kit, but once she grew into an adolescent, it seems that her eye sight is going down the drain." He sighed slightly and returned Kaoru's kiss. "Tired and stressed. I never knew how hard it would be taking care of a blind, blood-sucking kitsu. Now I know how Ryuuza feels every night."

Between her question & the way she was squinting her eyes, Remus realized that she was blind. Or at least nearly blind. Carefully he eased himself into a laying possition before calling gently. "Here. My name is Remus J. Lupin. But Remus will do." He paused, almost expecting to hear Chroma's typical interjection. A smile tugged at his mouth as it occurred to him that his darling sister was far too engrossed in being with India to be paying him any heed. Although it amused him, Remus felt a slight tug of sorrow intermingled with envy. Shaking it, he continued talking for the kit's benefit. "It's a pleasure to meet you. May I inquire what things you like to do for fun?"

Suddenly it dawned on him. Why Ember was so upset. They had not shared interests, other than books. Had the other kitsu been hurt by him saying that their love of books was enough? Remus had intended it as something honorable, but he now could see that his easy words might have damaged Ember's self-esteem. He mentally chastised himself. That he would have to deal with in time. Now he should focus on the small kitsu before him.

Chroma nodded as India spoke, actually listening for a change. Only time would tell if retention took. She jolted at the news of his sister. "Injured? How did Keiki get injured?" She was thinking of her ball-playmate & could not comprehend how playing ball might lead to injuries. That he missed her sent a happy tingle through her body... almost enough for her to become less worried about her other playmate & certainly enough to focus in on India's next words. At his request she did back off sheepishly, though she kept close enough to nuzzle into his neck while he righted himself. "I'm glad you're okay... you'll tell me if anywhere hurts?"

Kaida stopped a few feet away from the adult kitsu and looked up at him as best as she could. "Lupin, huh? I'm Kaida!" She flicked her three tails back and forth as she sat down on her haunches. "What I do for fun? well, for starters, I like to bug my Uncle Roy about the mate he choose. And then I like to settle down with my rubber bone and chew on it for hours on end. This usually depletes my blood-craving I get almost every hour." She smiled innocently at Remus. "So, what do you do for fun?"

India pushed himself up slowly, taking the display of affection in stride as he always did, though an unfamiliar sensation arose from her touch. Trying to shake it off, he sighed. "I'd rather not talk about it," he said in answer to her first question. They were family matters. But even more so, he knew his sister would be angry if he told someone else she'd been beaten by Damis. Before he could really think about it, he found himself returning her nuzzle. "I'm fine, though, nothing broken." In one fluid movement, he was on his paws, as if merely to support his statement. He turned to her and smiled lightly.

A blood lust? That startled Remus; both in the matter that she had them & how she was so forthright about it. Foolish. Is that really much different than turning into a werewolf? Bless her that she is forthright in it! He managed to smile gently for her benefit, even knowing that Kaida probably could not see it. The feeling would still be there. "I'm afraid my interests are not quite as interesting as yours. I like to read books, to study, & to learn." A soft chuckle rose in Remus' throat. "Why don't you like your uncle's mate? They seem happy together." he inclined his head in the pair's direction, figuring that the fatherly kitsu must be the uncle she spoke of.

It did not take much for Chroma to let the topic of Keiki's injuries drop. She was much more interested in India anyway; especially when he nuzzled her in return. Her smile lit up her face watching him fluidly get up, proving how okay he was. Chroma rubbed against him happily -much like cats would wind themselves around ankles. "I'm glad." She practically purred, just happy. Her body was alight with a strange tingle & she liked it. "I know you're not big on games normally... but would you like to do something?"

As she spoke Chroma continued to rub against India (unless he tried to stop her) not really knowing what she was doing or why but not caring to stop.

Kaida canted her head to one side. "What's wrong with reading? I used to find it facinating when I was a kit. Now I can't even do that. I guess it is due to all of those books I read last year. I think I must have read at least a dozen per day." She glanced in the direction she heard Roy go in and sighed. "He spends more time with her than with me. He told me that he would spend everyday with me, but ever since she showed up, he has been playing with me less and less everyday."

As with they're last meeting, India's body stiffened with so much contact. But he willed himself to relax. As hard as it was, he eventually calmed. Breathing out deeply, he directed his gaze to her even as he moved away from her affection. "I suppose if you would like to do something," he drawled, a grin finding its place at his maw. This time, he took a deep breath and moved back to her, offering much more of an affectionate nuzzle than he'd ever had, even to a family member. "Then I would have to comply."

He had thought here a kit, but was just realizing Kaida was merely small.
"You do like to read?" Remus did not know why he should be surprised. Her 'blindness' must be relatively new... He pondered sadly. "And you can't read like that now... because of your eyes?" he added the last softly, knowing it was most likely a difficult topic for her.

He could only nod at first about her uncle's relationship, his mouth pursed. "Yes. That's often the case when romance interferes." He thought of James with Lily, & Chroma now with India. Sure, Chroma denied there was anything there but Remus knew better. "It is important to know that though our families priorities might change, it is inevitable, but their feelings for us do not change." He glanced at the younger kitsu curiously. "If it was not this female, it would likely be another."

She shivered happily, feeling India's breath in her fur as he spoke. Her tails flicked eagerly. "You don't have to comply... only if you want to..." Suddenly Chroma giggled, completely at a loss in her strange & wonderful feelings. "You should pick! You choose what we do! You know I'll do it!"

Chroma was excited & happy. Her body was sending her so many signals she felt like she was a mass of electricity. Between denial & naivety she would never understand what she was feeling. Silly thing.

Well, that kinda got him out of having to actually be active. Still, it felt weird having someone say they would do whatever he wanted. Maybe even more so because the words came from Chroma's maw. It made him shiver, no matter how much he hated it. This was like last time, too! Where did this gutter mind come from?

Shaking his head, he slipped back to the idea he'd had when she first said he should choose. "I choose..." he drew it out for a moment, merely to be dramatic. "Sleep." Nipping at the femme's fluff, he invited her to join him as he flopped over. Yawning, he stretched his legs out fully then, where he would normally curl tightly around himself to block any disturbances, he stayed stretched, leaving room for her.

Kaida nodded to both questions. 'Yup. I used to be a rabid bookworm when I was a kit. I used to read all of the books the HQ has in their library, except the ones on the high shelves. I wish I could read those now. If it weren't for these bloody eyes, I would read more books." She sighed sadly and flopped down on the ground. "I wonder if my eye sight will get worse when I grow into an adult," she commented sadly.

"I hate it. Why did it have to be Roy? Why not another kitsu? Roy was my only friend I could depend on," she told Remus, her tone of voice half whining. She hated Kaoru for taking away her Roy. Sighing, she rolled over on her stomach and looked up at Remus curiously.

Chroma giggled both at the n** & the totally typical India response. Of course he wanted to sleep. Surprisingly, she did not seem to mind; being fully content to find a place by his side to snuggle into. She sighed happily, letting her eyes drift shut. "Okay... we'll do things your way." Turning her head slightly Chroma gently licked his muzzle. A mischievous glimmer touched her half-lidded eyes. "This time. I expect you to come up with something a bit more active next time though!"

Remus did not like to see anyone upset. This poor juvenile was very upset... and what seemed to be two very important aspects of her life. "It is likely your eyesight will continue to regress as you age... unfortunately that is the way it tends to work. However that does not mean you shall not be able to read. You could get glasses or learn Braille." He glanced at Kaida to judge her reaction. "If you could be reading again, do you think your uncle's new relationship would bother you so much?" Her use of the word hate bothered him, & Remus hoped it was only the passions of youth. "Neither romance nor love are known for being logical. What if you had fallen in love first, taking you from him?

Remus felt a little guilty, asking that particular question. The juvenile probably did not need such a query at this point in time. However, he felt he had to ask it.

Next Day

He had left Chroma to sleep herself out beside India, but now Remus returned to check on her. It was amazing how the male was able to get her to calm down & sleep so readily when Chroma was so hyper & active otherwise. Maybe her emotions wore her out. For his part, Remus did not know.

Having finished his book, Remus brought it along anyway. There was the tingling hope that he would run into Ember & be able to loan it to him when giving him the map. Also in a pocket of his robes was a book teaching Braille for Kaida. Remus had asked Myranda for one after leaving headquarters & spent the day familiarizing himself with it. He felt he was reasonably prepared to meet either of his fellow avid readers.

At least as far as material was concerned.

Nari blinked as the robed Remus entered the HQ. Putting one paw in the book she'd been reading to hold her place, she watched him as he checked on the younger kitsu before nudging an actual bookmark into it and trotting over to him. "Hello. Another book, I see."

Ember wandered warily into the HQ, still jittery and alert from watching Yrre. The kit so far seemed to have an unlimited amount of energy, always racing around and knocking things over and chewing on things he shouldn't. Ember just couldn't keep up, and so he'd finally given up, putting the little maniac into the playpen by Autumn. Not that he completely trusted her to take care of the kit- she was human, after all, and couldn't possibly know what to do- but he assumed she's do well enough for him to slip away, just for a little while.

And besides, he'd finished his book. He was bored.

Looking around the room in a typical scan that he normally did, seeking threats, he spied Remus. For the first time in what seemed like ages (though it had actually been only a day or so) Ember grinned and relaxed, trotting happily over to plop himself down in front of his fellow bookworm. Something about Remus made him feel like a kit again himself- cheerful, easy to please, and even more eager to please. "Hullo, Remus!"

*Aisia entered the HQ at a slow pace. A grim expression placed firmly upon her maw, and luminous eyes drawn towards the floor.
With a flick of her long ears, she made her way to the corner of the room and slumped to the ground, coiled her three tails around her.*

Remus was startled to be addressed so quickly. Especially by a lovely female angelic & a once again happy Ember. He was immensely pleased on both counts. "Yes, I am onto a new book, lovely kitsu." He nodded with a smile at Nari. "Though I did bring it back if you wanted a turn at it, Ember."

Ember nodded shyly. He wanted the book. He wanted the boook. He'd devoured the one Remus had given him before, reread it once, twice. He was fascinated by it. He wanted to know more.

"Yesplease, Th-thankyou!" he exclaimed hurridly, tripping over his words in overexcitedment. Ah, hell. He hated his stutter.

Remus beamed, handing over the book. "You might as well hold onto the other one... it is good reference for this one." he grinned again. "Actually, I've been told you may keep it. Since Myranda secured a replacement of it for me."

He refrained form adding that the GaiaCom was slightly miffed, since she had also wanted to read the theorem. Ah, well.

Chroma stirred beside India, completely relaxed but wondering at the laughter in her brother's voice. Remus' voice seemed far away. Her furry pillow was warm & moved slightly beneath her head. She giggled, remembering. India. "hey, sleepyhead... " she whispered with a laugh.

Ember stared in shock for a moment, before quickly dropping his head so that his hair fell into his eyes. For certainly, there were tears there. A gift, Remus had given him...a book? A book that he'd loved? To...him? "I-..I-...th-thank you, R-Remus..." he stammered, not meeting the other kitsu's eyes, but fighting the urge to tackle him as he had when they'd first met. Which would be childish, and, well- there was the female angelic watching. Who he hadn't greeted yet! Ugh, impolite idiot... "I, uhm- H-hi?" He offered to her, nodding slightly, which caused his hair to bounce and flop farther into his face.

Grinning widely, she waved a paw at Remus and at Ember as well. "My name is Nari <3~ What are your names?" [the little <3 is something she does to everyone.. she's a lovey girl XD]

For the Kitsu who slept so much, even now he was unwilling to move. Grumbling slightly, an annoyed amber eye was visible beneath the lid. "Mornin' already?" he scoffed, stretching out his back legs slightly, though he was careful not to kick the femme beside him. A whiny yawn escaped his maw before he could stifle it. Huffing, he lifted his head from the ground, only to have it flop back down moments later. "Mmm... just five more minutes..."

"You're very welcome, Ember. It is a pleasure to met you, Nari. I am Remus J. Lupin. He gave a little bow; more than just an inclining of his head but not so much that his nose might touch the floor. "However, Remus will do."

"Remy!" Chroma piped up with a giggle from her comfortable prone position beside India. Remus winced.

"Remus. Despite what my sister might say." He snorted lightly as if in apology.

"Remy?" She giggle lightly at that, and his reaction. "Remus is a nice name."

"I'm, uhm, Em...Ember." He replied nervously, wincing afterwards. He sounded like an idiot again. Uuuugh. "Remus, uhm, I..." he started, trailing off momentarily before continuing. "You d-don't...don't know how much this means to me. Really. I- you d-don't have to give me this. It's...I mean...you don't..."

"okay sleepyhead." Chroma answered laughing, then licked him on the nose. "But then you've got to come up with what you wanna do that isn't sleeping!" Snuggling deeper into India side her inner laughter rumbled across her body. Chroma wondered what game her friend would chose.
Tarik wandered in from outside, for once clean and dry. He was just a little poofier than normal. Darn the humidity levels outside these days. Looking around for someone to talk to, he noticed his brother. But beside him, was some femme.

"well well... does someone have a companion all of a sudden?" Tarik asked softly, smiling in understanding. He was pretty sure that his sister was right about him, and that Nixis was possibly thinking the same things he was but he wasn't positive.

"Right, right. Not sleeping." For a moment, India debated returning to sleep and hoping the other would be too kind-hearted to wake him. Ah, he was a sly one. That plan fell through, though, as soon as he heard his brother's voice. His eyes shot open and he tried to sit up, however, he was still very trapt under Chroma. "Yeah, whatever you say, Tarik..." the male drawled out nonchalantly, even as he was unable to view his fluffy brother.

"I'm just curious, if it's not so then that's alright too. I didn't like when Keiki said things like that, so if you're just friends that's fine." Tarik wandered around them so that he could be in his brother's eye sight.

"I'm rather partial to it." He smiled, showing more a distinguished veneer than he felt. Especially considering the odd way he felt when the angelic repeated his disliked nickname.

To Ember he glanced at him unwavering, not intending to budge. "No, no. It's yours, my friend. I can't think of a better home for it."

Out of the corner of his eye he noticed the large fluffy kitsu nearing his sister & her paramour & his eyes narrowed ever so slightly as he made a mental note to keep watch.

"Hmmm? Tarik?" Chroma cocked her head at India in confusion. What kind of a game was Tarik? Then she remembered the voice & realized the new male had been speaking to them. Impishly, she rolled onto her back, letting her legs dangle in the air. Looking up at the large male she grinned. "Oh! Hello! I'm Chroma! Are you a friend of India's?"

India fluffed himself out and rose to a sit as he was given room. Ducking his head at his brother's words he mumbled around in search of a responce. "It's not that I... I just... it's..." Scoffing at himself, he trailed off. Besides, Chroma still happened to be right there. He couldn't really say anything... Sighing, he eyed the femme deciding to just let Tarik answer the question. It had been directed towards the other male, anyway.

"My grandfather has an entire library of old books." Nari sat next to the robed kitsu, trying to peek at the book he had in his pocket.

"Actually, I'm his brother." Tarik said, smiling. "I know we look really different, but we're siblings. Our mom is over there, resting."

Tara lifted her head and looked over, blinking.
"Really? Old books are hard to come by." The lovely femme had his attention now, in more ways than one. Especially seeing that it seemed Ember had vanished into a book again. Not that the scholar could blame him.

Noting Nari's attempt to see into his robes, Remus flushed & withdrew the other book. "Just something I'm dabbling in until I could get it to the young Kaida." He showed her the book to teach Braille. "You... enjoy books as well?"

Chroma blinked innocently. "Oh! I didn't know he had more siblings than Keiki!" She exclaimed, taking a short look at their mothers. The only mother she knew was her human. Grinning Chroma rolled to face India & nipped him teasingly behind the ear. "Hey! No using family to get out of coming up with something fun to do!"

India's ear twitched and tried to slide back, as if protecting the spot that'd been nipped. "Alright. Uh." He glanced at their mother, then to Tarik, and back to Chroma as he thought. The male wasn't the best at coming up with games rather than his favorite "game" of sleeping. "Aw, I dunno..." he canted his head to glance at the ceiling.

"Yes.. it's his pride and joy. Enough that he used to chase Nokomis and myself out of there constantly when we were young, thinking we'd destroy his books." She tilted her head and studied the book he showed briefly. "She's blind?"

Chroma pouted, then nipped his ear playfully. 'Aw, I dunno' did not sound like a fun pastime to her. "Do you just not want to get up? Then she giggled, an impish gleam coming to her eyes. "If you don't pick something you want to do... then I get to pick!" She giggled into his ear, knowing already what she was going to do.

"I'll be nice... you won't have to get up for my game!"

Remus chuckled at that mental image, remembering seeing Noko the other night. He grew serious when it came to Kaida. "Well, no. Not quite anyway. I think she can see shapes, but she said she could no longer read. I don't know if corrective glasses would be enough for her, but thought that if she could at least learn Braille Kaida would have the chance to enjoy books again like she did when a kit."

He was rambling, but that was to be expected. Remus was uncomfortable sharing another's problem without their knowledge.

"Ah.. " She frowned. "That would be horrible.. even worse, to have sight and then loose it."

Tarik grinned. "India likes to sleep That's his favorite game or past time. Father sleeps all the time too."

"Is that so?" India questioned. Amber eyes narrowed as he glanced at her from the corner of his eye. The look was rather untrusting. Just what was she planning? Still watching her warily, he seemed to move closer to Tarik, as if seeking protection from his fluff brother. "What do you have in mind, might I ask, Chroma?" He tried sounding relaxed.

"Yes." He nodded & shook his head sadly at the same time. "I can only imagine how hard it must be for her. Perhaps that is why I am trying to learn the Braille writing myself... just incase."

"Does your grandfather still chase you & your sister from his library?"

"Yes." He nodded & shook his head sadly at the same time. "I can only imagine how hard it must be for her. Perhaps that is why I am trying to learn the Braille writing myself... just incase."

"Does your grandfather still chase you & your sister from his library?"

Chroma blinked, turning her head briefly to Tarik. She had momentarily forgotten India's brother was there & flushed with embarrassment. "oh... I've learned that." her embarrassment faded & she spoke to include both males. "But sometimes you've got to do something to wear the body out to be able to sleep, right?"

A look of perplexed wonder crossed her face. A second perhaps & it was gone, as Chroma remembered her fun new game. The gleam returned to her eyes, almost predatory. She rolled onto her tummy, legs curled up underneath her as if to pounce. "Nothing bad, India... just a harmless... little... game... called..." With each drawn out word she inched closer to India, bridging the gap he had tried to make. "Tickle fight!"

'Attacking' as she announced the game, Chroma set to tickling her friend as best she could. No one could resist tickling back in a tickle fight! He would have to play!

"Sometimes. He usually has to find us first. It's more difficult for him nowadays, he's older, and we're faster."

Tarik laughed and stood back from the tickle fight. He didn't have much urge right then to get involved, in fact, his father's sleepy gene felt the need to make a mean return. He yawned and curled up on a couple large pillows, watching his brother and friend.

Remus broke out in laughter. "He must be a very old kitsu indeed. I've not met an elder kitsu yet who did not seem still in his prime." He paused, obviously pondering something. "Unless he is not a kitsu?" Remus suddenly worried that he had blundered.

Chroma had completely forgotten that India had said he was not ticklish. But then again, she had dismissed it as him telling her a mistruth so that she would not try for herself. The way he laughed sent little electric thrills through her body & she giggled too. "Uh-uh!" She managed through her giggles. "You're not allowed to call on siblings for help!" She giggled shrilly, her eyes bright. "I'll see that you're tired enough to rest well tonight!"

Chroma was surprised that she was not disappointed he had not retaliated yet, but was having fun. Trying to think of another way she could tickle him, Chroma breathed multiple short little 'whuff's into India's ear.

"He is very old. And looks much older." Nari laughed lightly. "Do you have any family.. Chroma is your sister, ne?"

The 'ne' threw him & Remus flustered a bit. "Yes... she is my little sister. She & Trinity, a mini-kitsusagi, are my only kitsu family." He chuckled to cover his perceived awkwardness. "Our non-kitsu family is much larger. Perhaps why we visit here so often."

"Chroma seems.. sweet. I've never met Trinity." She sighed. "My only family by blood is Nokomis, who seems more busy flirting with Obi-Wan lately than anything else. However, I share a house with dozens of other kitsu, and it can be.. crowded.. at times." Wrinkling her nose, she shook her head a bit. Combine the kitsu with all the other pets in her owner's home, and..

Very un-India-like was this whole situation. Whines full of annoyance escaped his maw as he struggled futilely to get away from the torture. His ear began to twitch wildly with the tickling breaths. Claws scraped at the ground as he tried to get enough leverage to tickle her back. He was only able to swing his solid colored tail around to brush her side. A rather sad attempt.

"I give! I give!" He cried, still trying to get away. Little tears began to well behind his eyes. It was too much. Being tickled was hard to explain. The laughing made him feel good, but the utter madness of the entire situation made him twitchy and rather unwilling to be in this predicament.

"Trin doesn't come by much, now that Chroma's grown." He frowned as why dawned upon him. "I think she's jealous of Chroma being able to grow." Remus let his shoulders hop in a small shrug. "We're not blood kin either, but closer than to the rest of our 'family'. I can hardly comprehend what living with vast numbers of kitsu would be like." the last was added sympathetically. He imagined that getting away from them would rather be like how he avoided the talaye Weasleys. He let the comment about Nokomis & Obi-Wan slide. After all, if there was a lady kitsu in his life we would likely be the same. A sigh escaped him. He knew this lady was out of his league in that regard. Perhaps why he was still able to speak somewhat respectably with her.

Chroma was having much fun. She liked how her playmate squirmed beneath her. It made her head & heart race, & she was not even being tickled! How was that? At his cry for mercy Chroma paused, catching something that did not sound fun in India. She looked him over worriedly, her eyes huge. Seeing the tears forming in his eyes she mewed pitifully. Had she caused him to hurt? Laying nearly on top of her friend she licked the tears gently away. "You hurt? It was supposed to be fun! You laughed!" Her face scrunched up with sadness & sorrow & her voice broke with it. She nuzzled him gently & whimpered sadly. It was not supposed to go like this!

"That would be understandable, really. There are a couple within my house who are permanent kits, but I don't think they mind it so much." She peeked over at where Chroma was playing with the other kitsu, before glancing back at Remus.

Released from the tickling, India's body relaxed greatly. The male's head rested against the floor as he took great breaths to fill his aching lungs. A few remnants of a laugh trickled from his maw. But even as he began to calm, he felt a sickening pang in his heart. He hadn't meant his pleads for mercy to make her feel bad. He did have fun, he just needed a break. "It's alright, I'm fine," he assured her, twisting so he could lick gently at her muzzle. Suddenly he found himself feeling very protective of sorts. He wanted her to feel better. "I did have fun, maybe a little to much." He offered a lopsided smile before nudging her cheek and nuzzling at her neck. "Don't be sad."

Remus chuckled. Trinity has many layers to her. She is somewhat bi-polar I think too." His eyes too strayed to watch his sister & India most protectively. Remus knew she was an adult, but that did not mean his 'big brother' duties could so easily be cut without the feelings surging up. A very low growl rumbled from somewhere within him, unbidden. "He's lucky I trust him..." He grumbled softly between clenched teeth.

The smile & nuzzlings helped, but Chroma still sniffled. "Really?" Sniff. Her blue eyes were big, sad & pleading like a lost puppy's. "You're not just saying that?"

She sniffled again. "I never thought there was a thing as too much fun..."

"o.o" Blinking, Nari flicked her ears back at the growl. "If you didn't..?" In honesty, though, she would rather see a protective older brother than one who didn't care..

Remus forced himself under some semblance of control, though he kept a wary eye on the pair. "I trust India not to take advantage of Chroma's naivety... that does not mean I take lightly when he causes her to cry. Chroma's not prone to crying." He watched noting how India was trying to make things all right. It took a while for Remus to see that his sister was crying because she thought he was hurt. He humphed once, almost smiling & shook his head. "My apologies... I had not realized... I might react like that." Still on edge he glanced at his sister. "heh. & she does not know her own feelings for the lad." A heavy sigh took most of the remaining aggression away. "I fear I do not know what to do, if anything." Remus' mouth curved in an apologetic smile as his eyes sought Nari's. His display was unworthy of her presence.

If Chroma was any less naive, she would know that the softness in India's eyes stole her heart. As it was she simply melted. Her legs got wobbly, her head felt heavy, & she felt like she was going to fall down. "I... I believe you."

Her knees threatened to buckle & suddenly Chroma was worried that her new feeling of heaviness & lightness would crush India should she fall. With a worried look she tumbled to his side, being careful of his head & neck. Once safely down beside him she snuggled in again, taking advantage of his comforting display of affection. Wiping her eyes on his fur she looked up at him like a child. "So... it was a good game? We can play it again? Maybe later?"

"But it is sweet that you would protect her." She grinned, and poked her nose at his cheek. "And I think most don't know what to make of their feelings. It seems. Obi-Wan and Nokomis.. " Her voice trailed off slightly as she shook her head.

India let her get comfortable before he made any moves to do so himself. Once she seemed settled, he moved his head around under hers, cradling it against his shoulder in a way. All three tails swung lazily to wrap about her, as if forming a protective barrier. "As long as you let me rest, I suppose we can play again," he whispered softly against her neck. Inhailing, he found her scent almost too sweet to handle. "So, for now, sleep. And you should know, I plan of having a turn tickling you next time." Grinning, he attempted to bring her closer, were it possible. Yawning, he nosed at her fur for a while before he was lulled to sleep by exhaustion.

Nari touching his cheek stunned him, & Remus' eyes fluttered wide, simply staring at her momentarily. "I, ah, guess it could be considered sweet..." He flushed, then shook himself thoroughly in an attempt to return to normal. As Nari's words trailed off, it was as if Remus gained a little more confidence. "They make you feel left out too?" He finished softly, attempting to fill in what she did not say. More in wondering if she felt the same as he. But surely there was someone important in the femme's life! If not now, later. Sometime down the road. Where he could not hope to dream. Not yet. Not now. Not while his condition made such closeness dangerous.

Chroma giggled softly as India's breath tickled her neck. She was tired too & let out a yawn, letting herself be pulled closer. Letting herself? She helped. "I was right though? Better tired for the fun?" Chroma knew he was too sleepy to answer. For that matter she would not be awake even were he not. "I'll hold you to that..." she murmured into his fur, her eyes closing. A satisfied little smile remained on her sleeping face.

Nari flushed as well. "Very often. I see my sister so rarely nowadays.. Of course, there are many others in my household, but.. I do not have that connection with them, as I do with my sister. I have not met one yet."

She was even lovelier when flushed & thinking that had Remus blushing again. He nodded in understanding, but also to hide his reddening cheeks. Something about what she said confused him. "You've not met some of those in your household, or one that you have a strong connection with like your sister?"

"Not.. met one that I have a bond with. Although, thinking of it.. there are probably those I haven't met yet. Of the others who are like me, they are.. good friends, but I would not consider them more."

Remus found himself nodding again, thoughtfully. "I'm told nothing is closer than a close sibling. I live with two sets of twins, & they are almost inseparable." Three really, if he counted the baskets. But those did not seem to like each other. "Each pair's connection between the siblings is different, even to an observer like me, but I cannot deny their closeness." He sighed at that. "Chroma & I do not have anything that strong. Perhaps I am being bold... but I think you should be glad to have such a bond at all, & not so sad that perhaps someone else is becoming important in her life."

and I should try to do the same. Remus thought to himself sadly, watching his sleeping little sister.

Her ears perked at the tone of his voice, and she nodded. "I don't begrudge her it.. I just would like to see her. Of course, I could always poke into her mind and annoy her until she comes to see me.. or bean me over the head."

He chuckled lightly at the image of a bean-ing. "Perhaps you do not feel the jealousy as I do." Remus shrugged, letting his head tilt in the process. "For me, it is not just that India now seems to take up her time when she is with him & her thoughts when she is away from him. There are other things. Things I did not think would bother me. Like the present situation." He nodded his head, inclining the younger kitsu sleeping. "It was rare the times Chroma would calm down enough to rest, curled beside me. But she seems to sleep quite often beside her paramour, though neither acknowledge their obvious feelings for each other."

He sighed. Putting his thoughts to words was difficult on this matter. "I find myself more jealous of him than I do of her happiness." He glanced at Nari, hoping he was not talking her ears off. "Certainly, I also long for what they have found, but I find myself envious on the level that now Chroma does not look up to me alone nor does she snuggle with me as she once did." He brushed the edge of his scarf across his eyes, attempting to wipe the tear that had formed away before it was seen. "I miss her, though we still spend much time together."

"But that is the way of things. I do not begrudge her either, what she has found... but it does not make my pain any less."

Glancing over at the sleeping pair, it was easy to understand the jealousy. "I think.. you seem to think of her more as a child.. or used to, anyways. Now that she's grown, and seems to have found her someone.. It will be easier - once you have found someone too."

The pained look that struck him was quickly replaced by a wry grin. "You're likely correct, though I doubt my likeliness to 'find someone'. It is a nice thought."

Then, because the question had been gnawing at him; "Certainly a lady such as yourself has found someone, as your sister seems to have done. At least someone to flirt with."

Ears flopped back, Nari flushed as crimson as her hair. "I have not. As I said, most of those met are within my house and.. not what I would think." [honestly, I think Remus is the first non-mauowned kitsu she's talked to] She paused for a moment, then blinked. "Why would you not be able to find someone?"

It was once again Remus' turn to be flustered. "Oh... I, ah, presumed that you must have met others from outside your household that might have taken your fancy." His eyes darted about uneasily. "Of course family would not do..."

That was of course implying that she thought of those in her household as family the way he did those in his.

Remus gulped thinking of a way around answering her question. He did not see one. He shifted uncomfortably. "Let us say there are aspects pertaining to myself that make it so I would not feel it fair to impose myself upon a lady in any sort of lasting romantic relationship." In particular one aspect of the moon, lasting 3 days.

"Aspects..?" That statement got a head-tilt of confusion in response. "I don't see why not.. unless you are hiding an entirely different personality in there, you seem to be the type who would have potential "someone's" lining up to meet." [but Rem is so sweeeet and shyyyy what girl wouldn't like him.. XD]

He blushed awkwardly at her compliment, but at the same time shuddered from the closeness her assessment of his 'problem' hit home. "Something like that..." He muttered dejectedly, before forcing himself to straiten & address the compliment. "I suppose I've not met many females." He blushed deeper, Nari's red hair recalling his slight crush on Siggy. But the Scottish femme was as much out of his league as Nari was. His blush deepened. What is it with red-headed kitsu? You would think you had enough of red-heads with the Weasleys around, Remus. He chastised himself mentally. "None I've met have seemed remotely interested in me."

At least, not that Remus had noticed. Not that he would.

"Oh...?" Nari didn't truly understand, of course, and without Remus telling her, she wasn't likely to, but she could understand the disappointment in his voice well enough. "Surely it can't be that bad? You take wonderful care of your siblings. You are kind, gentle, and well-spoken."

Good thing Remus was at the extent of his blushing capacity. His face felt like a furnace. "Thank you. You're very kind." It was useless for him to hope that perhaps Nari was feeling for him, rather than merely lifting his spirits. Still her words felt good. "Perhaps there is someone out there that would like those qualities you see in me." Still only if I am free of my curse. Confound it! How it curses me at every turn!

Remus managed a soft smile for the angel. It was kind of her to be concerned.

"I would imagine.. almost any female would." Nari grinned, seeming completely oblivious to the very red-faced Remus. They were traits she would look for.. eventually.. when she grew up. "There is always someone out there for everyone."

"That is something all who are lonely must believe." His smile touched his eyes sadly. "Thank you for easing my mind Nari. I only hope I may have been half as helpful to you. But the hour draws late & I I've grown tired. Unlike my sister, I fear I must search out my own bed." He bowed with gentlemanly grace. "Your company has been a pleasure. Thank you."

He paused, waiting for her response before heading for the door & home.

Few days later
Chroma had loved sleeping the days through beside India. So much in fact that she had lost count of both her days & nights & how long she had been at headquarters. Although she knew Remus was keeping tabs on her, she chose to return home yesterday. Now, happy that her human's concerns had been seen to Chroma was ready to bound back to headquarters. Besides, India had practically promised another tickle fight!

"India?" The primary hued kitsu called tentatively & eagerly as she stepped into the doorway. "India? You here?"

Snickering to himself, Remus nudged Chroma inside the rest of the way. No... she's not head over-heals for India at all.

India sighed, eyes shut. He laid at a far corner of the HQ, not very attentive and not much caring. The meeting with Ember the other day still had him tired out. Letting out a yawn, he rolled from his stomach to his side, legs stretching then curling back to his form. He was about to allow a deeper sleep to take him, but a familiar voice reach his ears. They twitched expectantly and he found himself up as if his drive had been suddenly returned. "Chroma, over here!" he called to her back.

Ember edged in, herding the bouncy little bundle that was Yrre along in front of him. He'd quickly become overly protective of the kit, and almost viewed himself as his second mother (Er- father, rather, he corrected himself. Male, and all. ) He'd taken to glaring suspiciously at anybody who so much as looked strangely at the little purple one. Nobody was going to touch this kit, not while he was around.

Yrre bounded ahead, excitedly bumping into things and trying to see everything at once. Every once in awhile, he'd find something REEEALLY good to pounce on and bite his hellos, but Ember always made him stop. He didn't understand why. He was just making friends!

As he energetically surveyed the room, his eyes fell on a Sleepy Kitsu and a Looking Kitsu. He wondered briefly at what the Looking one was looking for- but he had no time for such considerations, these were potential friends! His teeth just itched to bite them hello, and he bounded over, pouncing first on the Sleepy one and sinking his teeth into him with an excited wriggle-glee.

Upon hearing India's voice Chroma's happiness went into overdrive. She probably would have propelled herself at him much like speeding bullet, but her happiness & energy level was far too high. Instead she bounced rather like a bunny. Each bounce was accentuated with a little "India!" quietly breathed in & out. When she finally crossed the room there was no denying how her eyes were shinning. She paused, slightly breathless, just looking at him happily for once. "India! I'm missed you!"

Not that she seems to understand or acknowledge that. Remus chuckled more, nodding a hello & at the younger male out of courtesy -& a little bit to show approval. He would not interfere with their relationship with words however. Not at this point.

A familiar scent wafted over to him & the smile on Remus' face lost its slight sadness from envying Chroma & India their happiness. "Ember?"

Nari yawned, stretching one paw after another as she poked her head out over her pillow. The sounds of other kitsu moving about had caused her to stir.. a little bit.. She frowned a little, as she only recognized one of them, barely - Ember.

India couldn't keep the smile from his face as she bounced to join him. Still, he could never figure out just where all of her energy came from. There wasn't much time left to ponder over it, however. As soon as he'd started to rise, a rather unwelcomed feeling swam through him. Hissing, his gaze snapped to the cause. Noticing the kit clinging to his flesh only seemed to intensify the pain. "What the heck are you doing?!" He shouted, resisting the urge to lash out for fear of harming the small Kitsu, not to mention himself. "That hurts..." he said between clenched teeth.

Hurts? But Yrre didn't hurt, he was friend-making. Silly Sleeper didn't understand. "Hello!" he chirped brightly, grinning up happily at the annoyed kitsu. "Biting makes friends, and friendsing don't hurt; Yrre don't hurt." He explained, beaming at his logic and nuzzling India.

"Yrre...!" Ember called, racing after the biting kit and tugging him gently back with an apologetic glance to India. "Yrre, biting is not good. It hurts others. And yes, I know...'biting doesn't hurt Yrre', but that's because Yrre isn't the one being bit. So no biting.

His ears perked as he reprimanded the kit, hearing a familiar voice call his name. Remus! A goofy grin crossed his face, and he turned to hurry over before he stopped himself. Responsibilities for Yrre. Riiiight.

India's smile warmed her, & Chroma felt all giddy inside. Then he cried out in pain & first she was simply worried, almost in a frantic kind of way. "India!" She exclaimed in alarm, only then noticing his "attachment". Curiosity overwhelmed her fear & she leaned down to get a closer look. "Oh! It's just a kit!" Then her face wrinkled in confussion. "But why did you bite my... Chroma blinked, surprised. What was she going to call him? That was odd. "...India?" She finished -as if she had not paused oddly at all. In fact, that she had been about to give India a title or label had already slipped her mind.

Ah. I was Ember. The silly grin remained as Remus made his way to join his friend, seeing that he was busy. Sitting down on his hindquarters Remus chuckled at Ember. "I presume this is the 'egg'? Family is fun, yes?"

His smile relaxed & the tone became serious. "It's good to see you again, my friend."

She was about to lay her head back down and go back to sleep when the sound of a familiar voice snapped her ears up. Shifting to the side, she saw the source of that voice. "Remus!"

As the kit released his hold, India sighed. Manuvering to his small injury, he nipped at it. No blood, it had been a shallow bite. The surprise was probably what caused most of the pain. Shaking his head, he nosed at Yrre as the purple one nuzzled him. "You're a strange one." And he almost commented further as Ember came and apologized, then rushed off as soon as he noticed Remus's presense. A brow raised, but he merely shook his head. Turning back to the femme, he felt that same brow raise further. "Your India?" Though he doubted she meant to say it that way, he'd never been 'owned' before.

Ember smiled happily, nodding at Remus. "This is Yrre." he pronounced proudly, nodding at the kit, who seemed to be wiggling and eye-ing Remus. Ember hoped he wouldn't bite him, he really didn't want anything to happen that might possibly make Remus go away. As his friend commented on being happy to see him, Ember ducked his head, grinning all the more. "It's good to see you too, Remus. How're you today?"

Yrre wiggled, whining as he resisted the urge to pouncebite Ember's Friend. But Ember had said No Biting, however silly that was. But as Ember was busy talking to Friend, he'd have the chance to go back to Sleeper and Looker. He slunk away, then trotted up to them.

"Yrre is not strange, am I?" he asked, plopping down next to Sleeper and cocking his head curiously to the side, his tails wagging furiously from side to side. "Sleeper is saying yes, but I is saying no, and I is biting but Ember says is hurting. And so Yrre am sorry."

Remus was grinning like a loon, both at being with his friend & hearing his sister's Freudian slip. Let's see her deny that one. Then the angelic's voice cut across the room to him & he felt his heart pound in his chest. Oh, he knew there was no hope for anything between them... but in some ways he just, kinda, hoped. Or at least dreamed. "Nari! Hello!" Then including all he answered Ember, nodding to Yrre. "Pleasure to meet you, Yrre."

"Yeah! Ditto that!" Chroma piped in; herself wriggling trying to figure out how to respond to India. At his mention of her words it came back to her how it sounded. She blushed, knowing India's gaze was upon her.

"I'm doing well." His gaze diverted momentarily to watch Chroma in her befuddlement. Then he swept it around the others in turn as if that filled in the rest.

Chroma was stumbling over trying to explain. Or understand. "I... ah... well..." Her blush deepened. "that is I didn't mean to... well, claim you..." Her head ducked sheepishly & she glanced up at India between her ears. "At least not without you wanting me too..." Suddenly her head shot up, a kind of teary, wild look in her eyes. "But you are... aren't you? In some way? Even some small way?"

Nari rummaged excitedly through the pillows she was laying on for several minutes before finally finding her target - a small, well-worn leather-bound book. Grabbing it in her mouth, she trotted happily over to Remus, tails wagging. "Hello!" The greeting was muflfled due to the book.

India had to let his attention slip from Chroma for just a moment in order to understand the kit. He spoke in broken sentences, making it difficult for the darker male. He actually had to resist the urge to dumbly blurt out 'what?' but he found his answer. "Ah, it's okay," he offered with a slight grin, not really expecting to hear those particular words coming from the femme as he gave her back his attention.

He wondered if he was hearing her right. A patterned ear twitched, as if trying to catch anything else. After all, that couldn't be the end. She was just joking, right? "I... uh..." For only the second time in his life, India was without answer. For a second, he glanced to Yrre, as if the bitting little kit he just met could offer him some sort of idea. "Uh." He was beginning to sweat this. Should he tell her the truth or would he end up regretting it? Sighing, he tried to calm himself as he finally answered. "I do... and I..." His all black tail swung nervously. "I really li-" He swallowed, voice becoming extremely low. "Love you..."

Ember's ears twitched as Remus's eyes lit up at the angelic's voice- he didn't remember her name, they hadn't talked very much. To his confusion, he felt a wave of posessive jealousy wash over him, and he gritted his teeth with a low growl of annoyance at himself and...maybe just a bit at Remus.

Turning his attention back to Yrre in hopes of distracting himself from irrational irritation, only to find the kit not where he'd left him. He gasped in alarm, and panickedly peered around the room, only to spot Yrre over chatting to...a very frazzled and nervous-looking India and what he thought he remembered to be Remus's sister. He seemed to be doing alright, though, so he reluctantly decided to let the purple fuzzball be for awhile.

Remus blinked at the book in Nari's mouth. Then he grinned & shook his head at his own foolishness. It all came together, a book nearby each time, her grandfather's library, her interest in what he was reading: Nari loved books too. He had simply been so floored -& truthfully quite enraptured- by her sweetness & beauty that it had not occurred to him. All at once he was more relaxed, seeing that their mutual interest would stand. He opened his mouth to speak, but paused hearing Ember's growl. A look of perplexion crossed his face. Perhaps he had ignored his friend? Well, to remedy that. "Funny that we should all like books so much. Ember, did you know Nari also likes to read?"

Love? Had he said love? Chroma found that her insides where doing flips as if in jubilation. "You love me?" Her whisper was incredulous, & more than a little scared. She knew of the word & the feeling it was supposed to describe, but she really did not understand it. "Do you... do you mean you like being with me an awful bunch, & your insides feel all funny & wriggling -but in a good way? & when I'm away there's a happy sad feeling like you just wanna see me again, but somehow it's okay just to think my name or imaging me near? & the whole world seems to revolve around being with me 'cause when we're together nothing else seems to matter & you're happy? More than happy? So much more that you don't think there's even words for it?" Her eyes were moist as they gazed into his. "Because... because that's what I feel for you."

A little stream of tears trickled from her overfilled eyes. More than anything, Chroma wanted to nuzzle up to India & bury her face in his fur. Yet she held back, wanting to watch his eyes. The strain of her conflicting drives played across the muscles of her body. "If that's what love is... then I love you too." A shaky smile played across her mouth. It was at this time she wished to be a little more in-the-know.

A quick breath whistled slightly through India's teeth at the end of her little speech. He wanted to laugh, but not because he thought it was funny. It was more so because he still couldn't believe what he was hearing. It was possible he wouldn't regret this, rather he would've regretted keeping it inside. Unable to hold himself back, he chuckled slightly. He could feel a wet p***k at the corners of his eyes, too. Shutting them tightly, he brought a paw to quickly whipe the tears. "Yeah..." was the only word he could pull from his vocabulary. He laughed lightly again. "Yeah..." Putting his paw down, he stepped forward, setting his cheek against Chroma's without a second thought. "..... I feel... that way, too...." He gently nuzzled against her cheek and neck. He never would've imagined such happenings.

"Here," She dropped the book to the floor in front of him and nudged it over. "A gift for you." Turning to Ember, she offered a small smile. "I saw you before.. not for very long.. "

Chroma melted. Pure & simple, she just melted into India's touch. "oh, India..." She moved just enough so that more of her body could touch his, felling all electrified & relaxed at the same time. "Love has a bigger definition than I realized!"

Remus dabbed at his own tearing eyes with the edge of his scarf, painfully overjoyed for his sister. The fall of the book jolted him & he blinked in surprise. "For me?" No one had ever given him a gift outside of his family. "Thank you. But Nari, you shouldn't have." Even so he was laying down, gazing with delight upon the book.

Even melted, Chroma snuggled & nuzzled India as much as she could. Then her head tilted away, her tears rubbed dry in his fur & a questioning gaze seeking India's. "India? Now what?"

"I wanted to " She sat next to him and tilted her head at Chroma.

Remus gazed with disbelief at the book. He was almost afraid to touch it. Tentatively he reached out a paw to caress the spine, as if it would disappear. "I did not bring anything for you... " His words trailed off & he blushed. "Thank you." A genuine smile lit his eyes as he looked up at her.

She had not thought she was sleepy, but her legs were like jelly. Her previous movement had all but strained her emotionally exhausted body to the brink. She almost crumpled to the ground without India's support. Almost. As it was she seemed to dissolve onto the floor. Finding her place by his side Chroma managed a half pout. "Awww... no tickling?"

The question did not have her normal energy. It was clear that she was much to taxed by the revelation of their feelings to have energy even for something as fun as a tickle fight. It was also clear the lingering disappointment even amidst her current bliss. Chroma wove her tails with India's. "Are we... each other's then?"

She grinned. "I thought you might like it. And I don't expect anything in return, other than your company for a bit.." Glancing over at Chroma again, she shook her head.

It almost surprised India that he felt more energtic at this point than she looked. It was only a very little bit, though. With every passing moment he could feel the sleepy gene, amplified by the strong feelings in the air, taking its hold. "Nope, no tickling." He shook his head, grinning. As her tails intertwined with his, the all black one seemed to twitch slightly. It'd always been the most sensitive. Sighing in content, he gazed off in front of them for a moment before answering her question. "Yeah... we are." Yawning, he leaned against her before setting his head on his paws. Still, he kept as near as he could. Shutting his eyes, he could feel sleep finally beating him.

"You only need ask for my company & it is yours, lady." Having been looking at her Remus wondered at the head shake & followed her gaze to his sister. "What is it? Something troubling you? About them?" His voice was soft & his eyes were quickly softening to match. "He has been a gentleman with her. A rather confused gentleman at times, but a gentleman. He is wiser than she... it is a good match."

Chroma shivered happily, a little smile gracing her mouth as her eyes no longer would remain open. "Good."

"Oh! They're fine.. wonderful, actually." She smiled uneasily, shifting her paws. "They are sweet together."

Remus smiled, a look of brotherly love on his face. "They're very sweet together. But then we talked of my bitter-sweet feelings for their relationship last time." If something had been behind her head shake he was not going to press the matter further. He resisted the urge to open his new book. "I had not asked, but how have things been for you?"

"If you are used to her being around all the time, it will be difficult for you to separate." Nari tilted her head back, shooting him a small smile. "My sister is still very much missing.. in a way. If that is what you mean."

"I meant for whatever you would care to share with me." His gaze was full of sympathy for her. "I am sorry you've not had time with her. I wish there was something I could do."

"You are doing a wonderful job already, keeping me company. So don't feel too bad for me "

Her words pleased him; made him feel special. "As you wish."

"And, yes... it will be hard to separate from Chroma. Though I know she will expect me to be around, as I am now -watching over her. She will also visit home, to see our human if not myself." His eyes glazed a bit. "I know that now. You helped me be able to see that." Remus' thankfulness was in his eyes & the gentle smile he gave Nari.

She glanced over at him, and flushed lightly. "Family visits are always.. interesting.. and there may even be young ones, eventually.. (Remus an uncle! of sorts)"

Young ones?!? Remus jolted. Then her glanced around him sheepishly, as if someone might have heard his thoughts. "I, ah, had not thought that far ahead." Remus forced himself to blink. "It still seems as if only yesterday Chroma was a kit... if she had kits of her own..." He shook his head in wonder, eyes round. "I suppose I will be around for the kits. If there are kits." He glanced at the snuggling kitsu with new light. Oh, there would likely be kits alright. Between sleeping close together often & tickle fights the pair would likely be very close. Remus was not naive to where those actions could lead, unlike his sister. "Hopefully not too soon though."
"I think that is inevitable, at this point." She nodded to the sleeping pair, then yawned into her sleeve. "And someday, little ones for you, too.. Despite your secret.. that you won't tell me about.. hnn.." She was somewhat rambling at this point as sleepiness began to set in.

He did not like hiding the truth from her... nor did he want her to know. Remus squirmed uncomfortably. Or was it her casual mention of little ones for him? Likely both. "It is not something I am proud of, nor do I have control over it. Perhaps in time I will feel it will not harm you to know. For now..." He hung his head in quiet shame. "It is my burden to bear. Alone."

He glanced at her a bit sadly. If he was lucky he would not lose what he felt was a growing relationship when he told her his curse. Without thinking he drew the book into him. When his action registered he smiled at the thought of her gift. At lest it was a good surmise that they were friends now. With a smile he turned his head to face her.

She looked tired. "But enough of that. Nari, you look exhausted. I feel I'm tiring too. Let me see to it you are comfortable here before I bid you farewell." With an inclination of his head Remus indicated that he was there to support her to the pile of pillows should she require it of him.

"Going to abandon me to pore over your new book?" She was teasing him, more than accusing. Giving him a small nudge on the shoulder, she got to her feet and, quickly touched her nose to his cheek before bounding off to her pile of pillows. "Good night, Remus." (friends for.. a while.. but when she grows uppp.. maybe more.. maybe <3 they're cute)

A smile crept over his face at the jibe. She certainly had him pegged. "Abandonment, no. Though I admit, I am sorely tempted by the lovely book. However I know I will gain nothing from reading it in my current mental stare, So I will save it for morning." His cheek felt warm from where Nari's nose had touched it & Remus wondered to himself if the mental state was from sleep deprivation or proximity to the heavenly kitsu.

He could not help but sigh as she bounded off. Remus recalled snagging pillows from the pile as a kit to sleep on & sighed. He bowed deeply. "Good night, Nari."

Seeing that he was comfortable he cast one last glance at Chroma & India. Content that they were as safe as he could make them, Remus headed for home.

Nest Day
Remus entered headquarters slightly on edge. He was hoping he sould not return to find the newly realized pair already with kits... for the dream he had after leaving had woken him in a cold sweat. Not that he would not be glad to be an uncle... just not yet. Also, the talaye Weasley twins had agreed to wok with him to make not only a clock such as their mother had for the family, but wrist watches for those that tended to be in positions of responsibility for the rest. They would need something of Chroma -such as fur & or a sliver of claw- to be able to include her in the magical workings. Now that she had a mate, even Fred & George had become solemn in with the idea that someone should know where she was. In that, Remus was extremely relieved & grateful for he knew this undertaking was more than he should handle alone.

Something else was bothering him. He had yet to hand Ember the map he had made showing the way to his family's home. He did not want his friend to think Remus was not serious about his offer. However giving him the map posed another problem: having to tell Ember not to visit on days when the moon was full. Under his robes, Remus' guardian chittered at him uncharacteristically having sensed the kitsu's troubled thoughts. Calming himself with a loose smile, Remus knew he would simply have to cross that hurdle when he came to it.

Ember lay curled up on the couch, staring forlornly into space. Yrre slept- finally- on a coushin nearby, and he was careful not to jostle the sleeping kit, remaining absolutely still. He just got into these moods sometimes- a lot, really- where he was hopelessly unhappy, desperately lonely even if others were around. They always passed, always, but while he was in them he was miserable.

With a soft sigh, he closed his eyes, resting his chin on his forearms, ears drooping as he tried his best to fall asleep too- for even falling asleep in such an open place was better than being awake by himself. However, as soon as he closed his eyes, he heard the soft footsteps that meant somebody was there, and his skin prickled reflexively, defensively. He opened his eyes warily, then relaxed as he saw Remus. Unlike other times, however, he didn't race over to the other, a fact which he attributed to not wanting to wake Yrre. He merely smiled blankly at his friend and nodded, keeping his voice low. "Hullo, Remus."

He fairly beamed at the sound. Padding over quietly, Remus sat carefully near his friend. "Evening to you too, Ember." It was his library voice, which Remus found was remarkably useful around sleeping younglings of any species. At least those he had happened across so far. "I was hoping I would see you tonight. Are things well? Is Yrre still trying to meet new friends with teeth?" His eyes twinkled merrily, remembering last night.

Yrre's ears twitched at the sound of voices. Friiends...? But no, he had exhausted himself. He wriggled a bit, giving a soft murmur of incoherant greeting, and then promptly drifted off again.

As the kit beside him mumbled sleepily, Ember crooned softly, gently nuzzling him. Then he returned his gaze to Remus, caaarefully slipping off of the couch and thrusting his chin at the other side of the room, where they wouldn't disturb Yrre. Remus had been quiet, but he didn't want to take any chances.

Yrre's stirring had worried him slightly. Had his excitement affected his normally soft library voice? Shaking the question off as one he would likely never know the answer to, Remus padded after Ember. Once they stopped he apologized. "I did not realize the kit's hearing was so acute. It is a good thing Chroma is still asleep." Remus gave a wry grin at his lame 'joke'; if it could be called that.

Ember nodding unsmilingly, glancing back at the kit. "He's just got so much energy.. I don't want to wake him, though you were so soft that I'm...I'm sure it wasn't your fault at all." He dropped his head, worridly shifting his weight. What if Remus thought Ember thought it was his fault? Ugh, idiot, messing things up as always..

Remus did not notice Ember's worried discomfort. Or if he did he gave no sign. Instead he grinned knowingly. "I know all about hyper, energetic kits. Unlike Chroma, I hear most outgrow it." He did not mention that he had never been a particularly energy-filled kit.

"I keep forgetting to give this to you." Remus pulled a tightly rolled parchment from within his robes & held it out for Ember to take. "Well, either forgot or decided not to have to explain about it with others around. After all, it would be rude to speak of having invited you to our home when no one else has been."
