RP took place September 30th
Neruo floated into the shop, rustling his hair and landing on the nearest couch. He looked around, seeing the shop empty, and sat down. He pulled open his notebook and an empty vial and began to take notes. He set the vial next to him and absently played with his hair as he took notes.

Ava flew into the shop via an open window and landed on the nearest table, this time with no extra steps or flailing for balance. She was getting pretty good at her landings, which pleased her, she hated not being able to land properly.

She looked around the shop and thought it empty until her emerald eyes landed on a bright orange feien. She smiled to herself and took to the air again, heading in his direction. She landed a little bit back from him and walked the rest of the way, giving him a swift wave.

"Hi Neruo, I'm glad to see you."

Neruo looked up, not at all startled, and smiled. It was the white one again! Irisa's sister! Talon's daughter.

"How nice to see you again! How are you?"

Ava laced her fingers together in front of her and smiled down at Neruo, not exactly sure if he wanted company or not. He was reading, but then again, he wouldn't have greeted her if he didn't want company.

"I'm good," She said after a moment, sitting down in front of him and crossing her legs. "I haven't seen any new feien since that night I met you, but I don't really mind. How have you been?"

He set down the book a moment and looked at her, smiling.

"I've been very good, thank you. I just got back from lessons in alchemy and potion-making. I learned a great deal, which is why I gave Ruya that potion. I'm making more, too, and I'm reading these notes. The alchemist gave these to me."

He folded his wings and scooted over. "Would you like to sit down? I'd love some company."

Ava smiled and went over to the spot where Neruo had made room for her, sitting down next to him. She folded her wings in against her back and looked over at him, crossing her legs and placing her hands in her lap.

"What was that like?" She queried, tilting her head and absently examining his curly hair from where she sat. "I've never been anywhere other than around Rhia's house and here."

"It was...interesting, to say the least. Redix, the alchemist, was very nice to me. I love learning and helping people, so he helped me focus on making potions that heal. I'm trying to learn magic like that, too." He smiled and stretched, leaning back a bit. He blinked and looked at her.

"You must be very young to not have left the house yet. How young are you?" He chuckled. "I feel so old..."

"That does sound interesting," Ava nodded slightly, causing her spike of hair to bob up and down. "My bond, Rhia, she can heal things without potions. Though she's kind of... mean."

The black-haired feien trailed off for a moment, her brow furrowing as she thought about Rhia. She shook her head and put a smile upon her lips again, turning her emerald eyes over to Neruo. "She teases me, about alot of things, but I think deep down she does like me. At least a little. Anyways, I'm currently ten days old, I don't know if I'm the youngest out of my siblings or not. I haven't met Kookaberra yet, and I've never actually asked Raylan or Irisa when they were born."

"Ten days old? My, you're so young!" he said, patting her shoulder. "I'm almost four months old. I feel like an elder or something. But I'm glad I don't look that way."

He took out the book again and showed it to Ava. "You said that your bond heals people without a potion? That's amazing! My bond, Lu...she...umm...Well, nevermind. If Rhia gets too mean to you, or you need a place to stay, I'm sure Lu wouldn't mind at all. I like having company."

He traced his finger through the book. "Would you like to learn?"

Ava smiled at the comment about her age and the friendly pat on the shoulder he gave her. She was rather young compared to him, wasn't she?

"You're not that old," She pointed out, her voice slightly amused. "You're still a juvenile after all, just like me."

Her smile faltered slightly as he mentioned Rhia and that she was welcome to stay with them if her bond ever got too mean. What exactly did he mean by that? She could put up with Rhia's teasing, though it did hurt her feelings at times. Rhia would never actually hurt her... would she?

"Maybe I will come over sometime, just for a visit." Ava cleared her throat to rid her voice of the slight quaver it held before looking over to study the book Neruo held. She decided it would be best not to comment on his reaction to Rhia being able to heal others without potions...

"I think I would like to learn, yes. Will you teach me some things?"

"I'd love to have you over for a visit sometime! No Feien has seen my house yet, or met my bond. I'm sure Lu would love to see you, especially with your colors. She's an artist, so I can imagine her clucking over your every beck and call."

He chuckled again, enjoying her company. Her voice did waver, and he heard it, but didn't want to disturb her by asking about it. He rather liked her company, and didn't want to ruin in by asking unnecessary things.

"I'll teach you whatever you'd like, as long as I know it's safe..."

He looked down a moment, thinking. "I wonder what it's like to be an...adult."

"I don't think I would really need anything if I came for a visit," She smiled, feeling a little awkward at the prospect of someone actually doing what she asked. "I don't really know a whole lot about, well, alot of things. But I think I'd like to learn about the healing stuff you mentioned. Rhia is really good at it, though she doesn't need any help, I'd like to be able to heal things like she can."

Unlike her bond, Ava found the idea of healing to be useful to others, not just herself, but she would never admit that out loud. Her ears perked a bit at Neruo's last statement. She looked over at him and thought about it for a moment, "Well, I'd like to think that it's better than being a child. You'll be an adult for a longer period of time than you will a child, so it would be nice if it was enjoyable."

She gave the slightly taller feien a lopsided grin, her green eyes sparkling, "Plus, when I get older maybe I won't be the shortest feien out of the ones I know."

"It would certainly be interesting to be an adult," he said, "and it's funny how I'm now shorter than Ruya, when I was taller than her but a week or so ago. It's funny, I think." He stood, stretching to his full...short height. He found it amusing, and smiled down at Ava. She didn't seem short, but he never really paid that much attention to it.

"Do you have any hobbies, or are you still exploring the world? I don't remember much about my first month being...born..."

"You'll most likely be taller than her again, when you grow up." Ava looked up at him and blinked a few times, her fingers idly playing with one another. Her brow creased slightly as she thought about what he said.

"Well, I haven't really found anything that I like yet. But like you said, it's probably because I'm still so new," She shrugged lightly. "I like listening to Rhia sing, she has a very pretty voice, though I think she would be mad if she knew I listened to her. I don't think that counts as a hobby though."

Neruo thought a moment. "You should experiment. Try as many new things as possible. That's how I found my love of potion-concoction. I just...tried everything I could. There's no hurry, though, really. Sometimes it's just nice to sit...and do nothing."

He sat down again and laid back, his arms behind his head. "Your bond sings? Lu can't do that. I asked her once, and she refused. Maybe she's bad? I didn't want to ask." He tugged at one of his curls.

"I should practice more calligraphy one of these days..."

Ava unfolded her hands and placed them slightly behind her body, leaning back on them and turning her head to look down at Neruo.

"Yes, she's very good at it." Ava looked down at his markings for a moment. "I tried singing once, but I was so horrible I embarrassed myself, even though I was alone."

She smiled and looked back up as he played with his hair. She felt the urge to reach up and play with her own hair, the hair that stuck up and never stayed down, but she didn't want to draw attention to it. She was still rather touchy about that.

"Calligraphy, that's like different styles of writing, isn't it?" She frowned slightly before brightening, "Rhia can write in a few different styles, though she likes cursive the best. She's really good at writing in cursive, she writes like that in this diary that we keep. I'd like to learn to write in cursive, do you know how?"

Neruo smiled. "I'm sure you're very good at singing, even though you may not think so. I personally have never tried, nor do I want to. It seems like so much work...but the end result is very beautiful."

He looked around the shop for a quill and paper. Seeing some on a desk, he went to fetch it. Floating back to her, he set down the quill and paper.

"Calligraphy is a fancy way of writing. I'm not very good at it yet, but it's fun to do. If you like drawing, all you have to do is make a huge capital letter..." He demonstrated with a large capital 'A'. "...and make lots of pretty swirls and designs around it." Though choppy, Neruo smiled while he was inking more strange designs around the letter. He thought it was fun.

He then picked up another blank sheet of paper and handed the quill to Ava. "You go ahead and try. Cursive isn't exactly the same, but I don't know how to do that yet. Lu writes in a strange combination of cursive and print. I'll have to show it to you sometime."

Ava watched intently as Neruo drew the letter 'A' and then added designs to and around it. Her smile widened slightly as she watched him and he commented on her singing. It was just a polite thing to say, he had never actually heard her sing, but it still made her feel better.

She blinked and looked up at him as he handed her the paper and the quill. She accepted them both from him, but she didn't write on them right away. She knew how to write of course, it was just she had never tried any type of writing other than normal block letters. She set the piece of paper down in front of her and rolled the quill in her hand for a moment.

"I'm not sure if I know how to do what you did," She said, not exactly wanting to write anything in front of someone else. Neruo's writing was slightly crude, yes, but it was very beautiful just the same. She knew hers would be ugly beyond all reason, completely hideous next to his. "I've... I've drawn a flower before. I know that's not writing, but I thought it was fairly good. If calligraphy is kind of a cross between writing and drawing, maybe I should get better at that before trying to write the way you do."

"Well, I say, do whatever's most comfortable for you. It's not good to force yourself to do anything. It's wasted effort and energy, too. Sometimes I just like to lie around the house. I'm sometimes very lazy. But I like it."

He crossed his legs and fiddled with his hair. He was beginning to consider her a friend, and he liked it. He loved meeting new people, and was excited to tell Lu about her.

"Your sister is very nice, too, like you. Do you have any other siblings?"

Ava turned to look up at him for a moment before looking back down at the paper and quill in her hands. She pursed her lips for a moment and then looked back up at the orange feien, "Would it be alright if I tried to draw you?"

She knew it was a rather odd request, with having just met him a day or so ago. But after much trepidation she had shown her drawing of the flower to her bond, and Rhia had seemed very surprised at just how good it was. Maybe she could draw Neruo, that would be nice.

"I have three siblings," She said, turning her body so she fully faced the other feien. She wouldn't admit it out loud, but this way he couldn't see the paper she would be drawing on - whether it was him or something else. She drew her legs up towards her chest and laid the paper on her thighs as she continued, "Kookaberra and Irisa are my sisters, and Raylan is my brother. Irisa is very nice, and from what I saw so was Raylan. I haven't met Kookaberra yet, but I'm sure she's very nice as well."

He chuckled, trying to sit still. "I don't mind if you draw me at all. I like to paint, myself, but...it really doesn't look like much of anything. Lu calls it 'impressionism'. Maybe that's a fancy word for 'crappy?"

He tried to imagine siblings...and a family. "I have Lu and many roommates, but no siblings. I'm very glad they're nice to you. I'd feel bad if they weren't...And I did not know you had so many siblings! I'd like to meet them sometime!"

His orange wings fluttered a bit, one orange feather popping out of its place, landing near Neruo's leg. He shrugged.

Ava watched the feather flutter to the ground for a moment before turning her eyes back to Neruo. "No one lives in Rhia's house except for me, though she has two friends that visit every now and then. And I'm sure you'll get to meet all my siblings sometime."

She smiled, amusement dancing in her emerald eyes as she turned them towards the paper and drew an experimental line along the top, testing to see how fast the ink flowed from the quill. She studied Neruo for a moment and set the quill to work on the paper, pausing and looking up at him every so often to study something. "Tell me about your bond and the roommates you have, it must be neat to live with alot of people."

"You aren't lonely?" he asked quietly. He shrugged, figuring that some people wouldn't like a house as...lively as his. He thought of all the creatures and children he shared a home with.

"Well, there are so many, it's hard to keep track of everyone. There're five Fae-creatures, Patience, Jung, Faustus, Hikaru...so many creatures. It's very...active over at my place, but it's not angry or sad. It's happy, and I like it that way. Lu tries hard to keep track of everyone, but there are so many..." He chuckled at the thought of Lu trying to serve dinner to everyone at the house.

Ava stopped what seemed to be swift, erratic strokes of the quill on the paper and she looked blankly up at Neruo. Lonely? She thought about that for a moment and blinked a few times, realizing that what he said had triggered something inside of her. Was she lonely...

Neruo had a caring bond, at least from what he had said, and he had a house full of happy roommates, friends. People that cared for him and worried about him if something happened or if he was gone. She didn't have anyone like that. Sure, she had Rhia, but she couldn't really share things with her bond, she knew the demoness cared for her, in her own strange way... but it wasn't the same.

Yes, she was lonely. Very lonely. But she decided not to say anything to the curly-haired feien. Instead, she put the smile on her face again and lowered the quill away from the paper when she noticed her hand was trembling slightly. "It must be really fun to have so many people living with you. I'm sure you're never lonely, but having so many people in the house all at once, don't you get in each others way at times?"

"Oh yes, we get into each other's way many times, but I'm glad that most, if not all, of my roommates are good-natured about it. Lu's a spazz sometimes, but she means well. Is Rhia a human? Lu isn't, but she still tries her best to provide for everyone. I think she'd really like for you to pose for her sometimes. She's practicing painting like I am, but she uses oils..."

He caught himself rambling on again. He watched Ava silently for a moment, then smiled. "You're always welcome, but it may be odd for you to have so much activity in one place. I share a room with the quieter ones, so I do have somewhat of a retreat..."

"I'd be happy to pose for your bond sometime," Ava murmured softly as she lowered her eyes back to the sketch she had started, hoping she didn't seem too distant or troubled at the moment. Neruo was very nice, and she liked him already, she hoped she wasn't being bothersome or boring. Her hand set the quill to work on the paper again, when she was sure it was steady and wouldn't ruin what she was creating.

"I believe Rhia is a demon of some kind," She said absently, focusing her attention on the sketch, perhaps more so than was necessary. "She doesn't like to talk about herself a whole lot, but she's very exotic looking. It's hard to describe her, but she has a tail, and some horns. Her ears are really long and floppy, and she has fangs and wings."

Ava frowned for a moment and stilled her hand, "Come to think of it, she always wears these really big, black sunglasses. I've never seen her eyes before, I wonder what color they are..."

Neruo thought a moment. Lu didn't look too strange, but he wasn't sure what to classify a mancubus as, exactly. "She sounds very interesting. She has wings like yours? Lu is a mancubus, she says. I'm not sure if that is a demon or not. I haven't asked..."

He folded his wings in thought, but tried to minimize movement for her. He looked thoughtfully at her wings, wondering if leathery wings were better for flying.

"Lu has a pair of horns, too, but they are like a ram's. No tail, though. She has grey eyes, and doesn't wear much clothing. She says she feels like a 'slut' sometimes, but she says clothing irritates her skin. I'd still like to see Rhia sometime. Maybe I could paint her? Or you?"

The tip of Ava's tongue stuck out between her lips, near the corner of her mouth, as she continued to scribble maddeningly onto the paper. She paused for a moment to look back up at Neruo, studying his wings for a moment before starting the motions all over again.

"Mm.. no, her wings are more like yours, with feathers, only they're black and white. Though they're very big, she can't open them all the way unless she's flying." She looked up again and a small giggle escaped her lips before she could stop it, "Rhia says that alot about the way she dresses too. It's kind of funny, but I shouldn't laugh, she gets angry very easily. Her horns are black, and her tail is black too, with a triangle shape on the end. She has alot of piercings, in her ears and her lip, and she has one on her eyebrow. She has some others... but she doesn't want me to talk about those."

She pursed her lips together and set a serious look on her face again, turning her attention back to the sketch. She was pleased at the progress it showed, though it wasn't near completion, it was beginning to look like Neruo. Or at least his head and the tops of his wings. "I wouldn't mind if you painted me, but I think Rhia wouldn't want a portrait of her drawn. She's not a very social person, I think that's why she lives in the middle of a forest."

Ava shrugged slightly, her hand now slowing and shortening the strokes she made on the paper, "I've never heard of a mancubus before, Rhia once mentioned an incubus she knew a long time ago, though she didn't say how long ago she knew him. Are they similar?"

Neruo turned his head a moment and studied his own wings. Feathers, like his, she said...he wondered if she could fly well with such large wings. He himself could not fly quickly, though he wished he could. That would take practice, and he decided then that he needed to do so.

"Well, I'll do my best to paint a good portrait of you. No guarantees, though." He couldn't help it, but his mouth became a lopsided grin. The thought of him trying to paint something recognizable was entertaining, to say the least.

"Incubus? Lu said her father was an incubus. I don't know much about her mother, though, except that she was some sort of demoness. She doesn't know that I know this, but...She goes out at night every once in a while to...Ahh, well how's that picture coming?"

He didn't want to scare her. She seemed so innocent and sweet. He didnt want to tell her how his bond went out and consumed someone every week or so...

Ava's bright eyes flickered up to Neruo for a moment as he didn't finish the thought. Perhaps he thought her oblivious, being so young. She wouldn't blame him really, she would have no clue as to how demons acted... if her bond hadn't been one.

"Yes, Rhia was grinning when she mentioned her friend, she said that though they weren't really close emotionally, they were very close physically." Ava shifted positions, seeming to be a little uncomfortable. "From what I've learned, Rhia's race of demon has long since been extinct. She's the last of her kind, and I think that might be a good thing."

She stopped drawing for a moment and looked up at him, smiling a little. "Don't get me wrong, I do like her, it's just she can be very... violent at times. She eats meat, raw, sometimes I don't even know what species it's from. And she has a friend who comes over every other day or so." Ava's throat closed for a moment and her eyes seem to lose focus, "She thinks I don't notice, I guess, or maybe she thinks it doesn't bother me. She feeds off him, I've seen it happen before. Sometimes... sometimes I'm actually afraid of her. I stay up some nights thinking about it, of her, what she's capable of doing. What she might do to me someday if I push her too far..."

She blinked a few times and her emerald eyes focused on him again. She tried to laugh, but it came out as more of a explosive sigh. Why on earth had she just told him all that? She had never been so open with someone before, not even her father or siblings. This almost scared her. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't be talking to you about this. I-I'm done with your head and shoulders, I'm sketching out your wings at the moment. Would you like to see?"

He watched her as she spoke, thinking he saw her tremble a bit. He felt a pang of guilt swhen she explained how frightening her bond was. He felt lucky, too, to have a bond with a sense of justice and morals as Lu did.

"I'm so sorry you have to live like that...Lu and Rhia are different, yet...they are quite alike..." He trailed off, looking into the table thoughtfully. Though Lu was a mancubus, and she did consume people on a fairly regular basis, she only attacked criminals and the scum of society. She would never hurt anyone else.

"If you ever need to, you can stay with us. I'd never be able to forgive myself if something happened to you."

He stood up and walked over to her, hoping to lighten the mood. He bent over to look at the picture over her shoulder. He clapped, delighted.

"MUCH better than I could've done! You're amazing! It must come naturally, to have a drawing be so realistic..."

"You've said that already, at least once." Ava stated softly, referring towards the offer to stay at Neruo's home if she ever needed to. Despite her current unease she was able to find a genuine smile for the brightly colored feien and she shrugged her shoulders a bit, not wanting to talk anymore about Rhia at the moment. "I will though. Thank you."

She felt a light warmth creep into her cheeks as he clapped and commented on her drawing. She looked up at him, her eyes twinkling happily. "You really think it's good? I didn't think my drawings were, but maybe that's just because I was the one who drew them. When I'm finished with it I'd like to take it home with me to color in, I'll show you the colored version when I'm done. I should be able to finish sketching it out now though."

"Yes...sorry." he mumbled, scratching the back of his head. "I'm just...really concerned. That's all."

He kneeled down beside her, smiling. "Yes! It's very good! You're very talented, I think. I can't draw well enough to do anything even close to that. I do impressionistic work - stuff that, if you stand far enough away, looks like something. Close up, it's just masses of color. That's me, though. Too lazy to do detail."

Ava smiled and nodded her head, her cowlick bobbing up and down as she did so. "Yes, I understand what you mean. I guess drawing came naturally for me, I think I have a really good perception of proportions and shading, things like that."

She looked back down at the sketch and shrugged a little, "I've been gone for awhile, Rhia might get mad if I stay out for too long. Will you be back here later? I'd like to finish my sketch, but I think I should go back home before she comes looking for me. Do these belong to anyone?" She indicated the paper and the quill she held in her hand, raising one eyebrow.

"If not, I'd like to take them with me. I think I can work on it a little while I'm at home, but I'll need to see you again before I start on your body or something major like that." She played with the quill for a moment before looking back up to her friend. "Maybe I can come visit you soon? That way I can meet your bond and work on the sketch some more. Do you think you could write me up directions to your house?"

Neruo nodded. Home sounded good as well. He took up the quill and paper, assuming that someone left it there. "I don't see why you couldn't take these with you. If there's any dispute, I can give them my quill and paper. No big deal."

He stood up and unfolded his wings, scratching them in places. "I'd love for you to come over. You see that clump of trees over there?" He pointed out the nearest window to the group of trees but a mile or so from the shop. "We live right through there. Not too far from here at all. Of course, it seems far to me, since I'm pretty slow."

He chuckled again, extending his hand to shake Ava's. "It was very nice to talk to you! I'd love to see you again sometime."

"If anyone notices them missing, just tell me. I don't want to cause trouble, I'll promptly return them both to their rightful owner." Ava smiled and nodded a little, "I like the quill, it's very pretty. It's the same color as Rhia's hair... or at least half of it."

She toyed with the crimson hued quill for a moment before studying the cluster of trees the taller feien pointed out. She grinned slightly as he commented on his speed. "I doubt you're slower than I am."

She reached over and firmly grasped the hand he extended, shaking it up and down once before letting go. "I guess I have a souvenir now, more or less. I'll put the quill and the paper to good use. It was very nice seeing you again, I think it's safe to say you're my first friend outside my family. I'll stop by your house sometime, is there any specific day that would be best for you? I'm rather anxious to get the sketch finished. Or is it better this way-" She held the paper up again to show him the drawing she had done and frowned slightly, "-just your head and shoulders and the tops of your wings? I guess it's what's called a bust at the moment."

He smiled. "I think I am the slowest, actually, and a bust is fine. Whatever you like best, I'll be very happy with." He bowed to her again, and floated to the window, waving.

"I must be off now. Wouldn't want to worry Lu. Goodbye!"

Ava smiled and nodded, watching him fly off and giving him a short wave.

"Goodbye, and thank you." Though she spoke too softly for him to hear, she didn't think it mattered either way. She looked back down at the sketch and smiled, very pleased with it. He was right, she was good. Clutching the paper in one hand and the quill in the other, she took to the air and flew out the same window Neruo had a moment ago.

Note: Even though this post was reserved on the 2nd (of October), the diary entry itself was written up and entered on the 30th (of September), after Ava returned from the shop.

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
I just came back from the shop, and it was completely empty except for Neruo and myself. We talked for a little, and he showed me some calligraphy. He's really good at it, but he doesn't really think so. We talked about his bond, Lu, and Rhia for a little. I wasn't too comfortable with talking about my bond, it seemed kind of rude to be talking about her behind her back. I don't know, we didn't say anything against them, so I guess it was okay, but it still didn't feel quite right.

He let me make a quick sketch of him, it's just his head and shoulders, and a little bit of his wings. A bust, I think it's called. I'm thinking about coloring it in sometime, but I don't know if Rhia has anything I can use to do that. Plus I don't know how good I am at coloring things in, I never tried to color the few other sketches I made. Neruo said it was really good, and I guess it is kind of neat looking, but I don't think it's that good. I took the paper and the quill home with me. The quill is made with a dark red feather, and it's really pretty. I'm hoping it didn't belong to anyone, because I like it and would like to keep it. But if it did belong to someone, I'll return to them as soon as I find out.

We also talked about my siblings, and about his roommates. He has alot of those, but he likes them all, so that's good. He seemed surprised to learn that it's only me and Rhia that live here. I guess most people never live by themselves? Rhia's not like most people, so I didn't think it strange for her to live on her own. I don't think it would be good for the other person if they lived with Rhia...

Anyways, he invited me over to his house. He said that maybe he would try and paint me sometime, or his bond could try. He said she'd probably like me, with my coloring the way it is. I'm not exactly sure what he meant by that, I don't see anything special about my red markings and white wings, but maybe you have to be learned in the artistic areas to see it? Either way, I would be nice to visit him sometime. Other than the shop and Rhia's house, his house is the only other place I know how to get to. Hopefully I won't forget, because he was very nice and I like him.

I'll have to ask Rhia if she knows what a mancubus is, because I certainly don't. I guess it's a cross between an incubus and some other demon? I think that's what Neruo said, or he mentioned something like that. I think Rhia is only one kind of demon, a purebred I suppose? I'm not sure if you can call it that, it sounds a little weird. I'll just have to ask her about it.

Hopefully I'll see Neruo again soon, or be able to go to his house sometime. I'd like to see Talon again too, and Irisa and Raylan. I still have no clue as to where they live, and it would be nice to find out. I still haven't met Tahki or Kookaberra, but I figure if I know where Talon and Raylan live, I'll be able to visit them sometime and then get to meet my mother and other sister, since Raylan lives with Tahki and Kookaberra lives with Talon.

Ava flew into the small kitchen and swooped down towards the table, gently landing on its smooth surface and raising her gaze to her bond. Rhia lifted her head slightly and looked at the feien through her black sunglasses. The small creature smiled a little uncertainly and folded her hands behind her back.

"What are you writing?"

"None of your business."

Ava blinked her emerald eyes at the abruptness of the statement and her shoulders slumped slightly. A soft sigh escaped her and she turned away from Rhia, spreading her wings a little and intending on flying off and leaving her bond alone.

"What do you want, Mushroom?" Rhia set the pen down and set her hands on the table in front of her, lacing her fingers together and turning her full attention on the small feien. It was more of a demand than a question, but the demoness's voice held just enough warmth and patience for the feien to turn back around.

"I... I just wanted to tell you that I found a quill and some paper at the shop the other day, I didn't mention it when I got home."

"Really? How interesting."

Ava pursed her lips tightly to keep the sigh from coming. She knew Rhia didn't care, the much larger woman was simply trying to keep Ava from spending the rest of the day sulking. Which she wouldn't do, she always had a perfectly good reason for being moody, and Rhia not caring about a pen wasn't one.

"Yes," Ava said, rocking onto the balls of her feet and then to her heels. "The quill has a very pretty red feather on it. It kind of reminds me of your hair... or half of it anyway."

Rhia smiled a little at that comment and that seemed to put Ava a little at ease; a smile coming to her own face as she reached up to absently play with the spike of hair on her head.

"You haven't chopped that hideous thing off yet?" The demoness asked, taking up her pen and beginning to write again.

"No, of course not!" Ava made a huffing noise as she released the cowlick and crossed her arms over her chest. Rhia raised the end of the pen with the cap stuck on it and waved it dismissively at Ava; a small smirk on her lips.

"I was just joking, I know you like it."

Ava blinked a few times and gently rubbed her biceps. The spike of hair bounced up and down as she nodded a little, "Oh, well, I'm sorry then."

"Apologizing?"

"I got a little upset."

"I see. Apology accepted."

They both fell silent for a moment and Rhia started writing again. Ava uncrossed her arms and steepled her fingers in front of her face, rocking back onto her heels. This caused Rhia to pause in her writing and look up from the paper to Ava, a slender brow rising above the sunglasses.

"Something else?"

"I just wanted to let you know that if someone calls or visits or something, about the quill and the paper, that I'll be happy to give them back to their rightful owner."

"Ava, you are their rightful owner."

"Well," Ava shrugged lightly. "I found them, yes, but if they belonged to someone before me I-"

"That person ******** up when they left them at the shop. Their loss, your gain. Maybe this will teach them not to leave their damned stuff lying around."

Ava blinked, a little surprised at Rhia's response. She should have known her bond would say something like that though, Rhia was Rhia after all.

"So, they're mine now?"

"Yes."

"O-okay, I'm glad."

And she was glad. But she also worried that if they had belonged to someone else, that person would miss them. Rhia was already looking back down at her paper and writing whatever it was she was writing. The look on the demoness's face discouraged any further conversation and Ava sighed inwardly. At least she now officially owned a quill to sketch with and paper her size, so the day wasn't a total loss, right?

Giving Rhia one last look, the feien turned away from her bond and walked over to the edge of the table. She hopped off and spread her wings, soaring into the air and heading out of the kitchen to leave Rhia alone with her writing.

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
Nothing has really happened the past couple of days, and I'm really starting to get bored. I haven't seen any feien since I talked with Neruo last, and I'm rather unhappy about that. I fiddled with the sketch of him early this morning, but I don't want to ruin it so I stopped soon after starting. I can always color it in, but I'm afraid if I color it I'll mess up the shading I did. Plus I'm not sure exactly what color of orange he is, I want to get the coloring as close as I can to the way he actually looks.

Rhia went out this morning, she said she'd be back probably late this afternoon or early this evening. I asked if I could come, but she wouldn't let me. I wonder why? It doesn't matter I guess, it's just now I'm stuck in the house all by myself until she gets back... and even when she does get back I'll still be basically alone. I like my bond and all, but she's not very good at conversation and social things like that. I really wish I had someone to talk to, like Neruo's roommates. It would be really nice to have someone around a lot and who was friendly and would talk to you when you were lonesome...

I'm still looking forward to meeting Kookaberra and Tahki, though I've resigned myself to the fact that I may not meet them anytime soon. I miss Irisa and Talon, and I'd like to get to know Raylan better, but I suppose I won't see them again anytime soon either. I could fly out to the shop and hope to see someone there, but it's so far away and I'm so slow, I get kind of tired flying all that way. When I go with Rhia we get there in no time, she's so fast! It doesn't look like she's going that fast from far away, because her wings are so huge, it kind of looks like she's slower than me. But when you're actually up there with her, that's when you realize how fast she is.

I tried sketching one of her plants this morning, a mini rose I think she said it was. It's really pretty, the petals of the blooms are two colors, a dark pink and a light pink and they're all swirled together. She has a lot of plants in and around the house, and the house always has this really strong smell. It's a nice smell, I'm not exactly sure what it is though. My mind kept wandering when I was trying to sketch her plants though, so I didn't get the drawing done. I'm really starting to dislike living here with only Rhia, as I've said before, I really do like her, and she's nice company. When she wants to be, but the times she wants to be alone I'm left alone too, and sometimes it's not my choice whether I end up alone or not. Maybe I should go and visit Neruo. From the way he sounded it seems like he's got a lot of friendly roommates.

Ava flitted upstairs and into Rhia's room, a small amount of worry written across her tiny features. She headed towards the queen sized, four poster bed that her bond sat upon and dipped low; landing gently on the deep rose colored quilt that was spread on the bed.

"Rhia?" She asked the demoness softly, carefully walking the length of the woman's legs and stopping next to her thighs. She frowned for a moment as Rhia was so obviously ignoring her. "Rhia, I need to ask you something."

Rhia, uttering a soft sigh, closed her book and set it down onto the nightstand. Turning her attention to the small creature on the bed beside her, she raised a brow above her sunglasses and inclined her head slightly.

"I was just outside, on the porch, and there was this noise coming from the forest." She frowned slightly, her wings flapping a bit. "I just don't know what it was, and I was wondering what exactly lives in the forest with us?"

Rhia suppressed the grin she felt coming and merely folded her hands in her lap. "I noticed that when I came back the other day. It seems a family of creatures have taken up residence in the surrounding woods."

A look of faint alarm passed over Ava's face and she swallowed before asking quietly, "Are... are they dangerous?"

"Hardly," Rhia laughed lightly and shook her head. "No, they're not dangerous. At least, not to us. They're kind of like miniature Gryphons, only alot more friendly. Just think of them that way, okay?"

Ava seemed to give this some serious thought for a moment or two before shrugging her shoulders.

"Well, if they aren't going to hurt us I don't mind."

"They won't, and if they try I'll just kill them."

Ava grimaced slightly at that pleasantly put statement. Rhia always had to be so... blunt. The earth feien was nowhere near as comfortable about conversations that included things such as death and killing as her bond seemed to be. Nevertheless, she wasn't going to try and get the demoness into a different state of mind. She had learned quickly that what she thought was right and what her bond thought was right were entirely different.

"I saw a mask on the table this morning, but it's gone now," Ava commented after another moment of silence, wanting to change the subject before it delved deeper into morbid things. "It was pretty, from what I saw of it, where did you get it?"

"Someone gave it to me." Rhia replied absently, picking her book back up and flipping to the page she had marked with a bookmark. "I fancied it when I spied it, and the person said it was 'special', I should take care of it, and that I was the right owner for it."

Ava tilted her head questioningly, but the demoness just shrugged and gingerly scratched one of her long ears. "I don't know what she meant by that. I think I put it on the coffee table in the living room at the moment, I'm debating on where I should hang it."

Ava nodded slightly and looked around, her hands clasping behind her back as she rocked back on her heels. Rhia looked up from her book and arched both her brows slightly, turning the page.

"Something else?"

"What? Oh, no." Ava blinked, and then smiled a little. "Nothing else, I'm just... bored I guess."

"Here." Rhia pulled the bookmark from her book and handed it to a surprised Ava. She pointed a finger at it and looked down at the feien. "It probably won't help with you boredom, at least not yet. But that's a very special card, okay? Take extra good care of it, I bought it at the same time I got the mask."

Ava blinked and inspected the card's blue colored surface. It had a rather plain symbol on it, and towards the top in tiny letters it said 'Pisces'. The card was about as tall as she was, but a lot wider. She looked up at her bond with a puzzled expression, "Why is it so special?"

"You'll find out soon enough. Just don't go ripping or bending it, okay? I'll be pissed off if you do."

Ava nodded silently, a very grave look on her face. There was one thing she never wanted to do, and that was make Rhia angry.

"I'll take good care of it, I promise."

"Good, go and put it somewhere where you'll remember later on so it doesn't end up lost."

"Okay," Ava took to the air, the card being slightly cumbersome as she headed for the door. Just as she was about to duck out into the hallway, she turned around and smiled warmly at Rhia, surprising the demon as she spoke quickly before she disappeared out of the room.

"Thank you."

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
Animals in the forest. Great. They're huge compared to me, and though I know Rhia could probably take them all at one time, they still make me feel uneasy. She said they wouldn't bother us, and I believe her, they seem to be friendly enough. There are three different sizes, or from what I've seen so far. The middle sized ones are the cutest, but I feel the best around the smallest ones, even if they are still rather large.

I'm still not sure what to do with the card she gave me. It's hues of blues, and it's really pretty... but I still don't get it. What am I supposed to do with a card? And I don't even know what a Pisces is... is that the kind of card it is? I should probably ask Rhia about it, but I don't really want her to laugh or tease me if it's something really simple.

I'm now a month old! Or... I have been for two days. I was 'born' on the 20th, so that day is kind of like my birthday I guess. At least that's what Rhia once said. She didn't say anything special to me on that day, and nothing happened. Maybe I should have gone to the shop? I don't know, I've just been feeling really sad lately. It's been raining here alot lately, and I like sitting on one of the bay windows in the living room and looking outside. The forest is really pretty when it rains, and I like listening to the rain hit the window. It's strange, I like it, but it makes me sad... I wonder if that makes me weird?

I really miss Neruo, Talon and Irisa, but I'm beginning to think that I'll be grown by the time I see them again. I don't like looking on the dark side of things, but it's hard not to when Rhia is so morbid and depressed about everything.

I wish it wasn't so lonely here...

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
Alright, I may be lonely and have no friends, but when I said I wanted a roommate I meant one like Neruo has! Nice ones, not a mean one who threatens me all the time! I don't like Gwydion, I don't like him at all. Rhia says that it won't be permanent and that he'll probably be on his way soon, but what if he's not? Sure, she has Azy around to help keep him in line... but they can't watch him every second of every day. He goes out at night a lot, and he sleeps during the day. I had never heard of vampires before until he came along. Rhia explained him to me, and to be honest, he doesn't sound any worse than Rhia is at times. She seems even more cruel than him actually, but at least she doesn't threaten me.

Azy is nice, and I'll probably see a lot more of him too. Rhia seemed surprised that he was so nice to me though, she said he usually isn't the friendly type. I can understand what she means when I see him with Gwydion, I think those two really hate each other. It kind of scares me at times how angry they can get, it almost seems like they want to kill each other. Somehow Rhia always keep them from physically hurting each other though. I still don't understand why she allows Gwydion to stay, but she seems to be getting closer to him, and day by day he seems less distant and... well, evil I guess. Though Azy doesn't seem to be very fond of Rhia letting Gwydion stay here, I swear he's like seven years younger than she is, but the way he looks at her when her back is turned! It's kind of creepy... and I'm sure Azy doesn't like it one bit.

Anyway, the animals in the forest I mentioned a few days ago are actually really nice. There's this one species that's really big, taller than Rhia even, but they seem to be the cuddliest of the lot. They're really pretty too, and this black one with red stripes seems to hang around the house a lot. I thought about sketching her one time, but she didn't seem to want to stay still long enough for me to even get a rough sketch. Oh well, I'll have to practice my drawing on something else. Something that will stay still for me, like plants. I really like plants, so that would probably be a good start.

I should head off to bed now, it's kind of late. Azy is staying the night again, he's been here for a couple days now. He still doesn't want to leave Rhia alone with Gwydion, even though he's out doing... what vampires do. I don't even like thinking about it, let alone being in the same room with him, so I figure I'll just try to avoid him as much as possible. If I stay out of his way, he won't come looking for me, right?

Ava poked her head out of the crack between the door and the doorframe near the floor; her emerald eyes darting from one end of the hallway to the other and back again. She figured he was already asleep... but you could never be sure with him, so she wanted to be safe. Better safe than sorry, that's what Rhia had once said, and now the earth feien knew the feeling.

Satisfied that the upstairs hallway was vampire free, she slipped her body through the opening and then flapped her wings, taking to the air and drifting slowly towards the staircase. As she passed by Rhia's room, the door was partway open and she couldn't stifle the curiosity that sprang to life inside her. She quietly flew up to the door and gently grasped the edge, tilting her head and peering into the darkened room. She smiled and bit her lower lip to keep the soft giggle from escaping as she noted that both Azy and Rhia were asleep in Rhia's bed, arms around each other. She turned away and started down the staircase, kind of glad that she was the only one awake at the moment. She liked Azy, and Rhia had gotten better since Azy had come. Her bond was happier, which made her a little nicer and more tolerant about things. But Rhia also seemed apprehensive, she was happy, but there was tension lurking under the surface. She wasn't sure if Azy or Gwydion could sense it, but she could and it worried her...

As she reached the downstairs hallway, she veered towards the kitchen and landed on the table. She glanced outside, the sky heavily overcast with grey clouds, and hoped that it would rain again soon. She walked to the middle of the table where a large bowl of fruit sat, and grasped the lip; heaving herself up into the bowl. She picked up a cherry and peeled the skin away from a small portion before biting into it. She didn't like the skin, it had too bland of a taste and the texture was rather yucky. She had a few more bites before setting the cherry down, near the edge of the bowl where she could easily get it again in a little while, and hopped out. She wiped her hands off on the corner of a napkin that was sitting on the table and then flew over to the windowsill. The kitchen window that looked out onto the porch was open slightly, as it always was, to allow her to go outside if she wanted. She let Rhia think that she was doing her a favor, but the earth feien knew her bond had only done it - even if it was subconsciously - so she would stop bothering the demoness when she asked if a door or window could be opened for her.

She slipped out and immediately drew her arms around herself as the chilly, late morning air enveloped her tiny body. The spike of black hair on top of her head bent into the breeze that passed through the porch, and she purposely shivered; her footsteps light as she stepped up to the edge of the sill.

"Brr, it's cold today." She murmured to herself, her eyes scanning the woods. She expected to see some of the creatures that lived there at this time of day, and was a little disheartened when she found none. Even the large red and black one, unofficially named Black Cherry, was nowhere in sight. She folded her hands behind her back and laced her fingers together, just under her wings, and was about to head back inside when she spotted a blotch of color on the wooden boards of the porch floor. Frowning, she unclasped her hands and hopped off the small sill, gliding down to the porch floor near the front door of Rhia's home.

Via PM from karma_k
A tiny red box wrapped in green ribbons has been left on Rhia's front doorstep. On its side, it bears a logo from the pixapet shop and attached to the bow is a tiny piece of folded cardstock.

When unfolded, it reads as such:

Quote:
Dear Ava,

I'm sorry I've not kept in touch with you after our initial meeting. Aileron and Trio assured me that they could find your residence to deliver this to you as I don't know where you are and it seems Tahki can't quite remember the way to Ms. Everwind's, which is not of much help to me, sadly.

Please know that you are welcome to visit whenever you like. My bonded, Karma, has made many shop purchases and I'm sure she's in their records somewhere for item/bloom delivery. Otherwise, you can find us at 6405 Dublin Street, if your bondmate is good with maps.

Your sister, Kookaberra, sends along her regards and hopes to see you one day soon.

Hope you are well,

~Talonfaust

Ava swallowed and lowered the note, her eyes wandering to look out into the forest for a moment as she pursed her lips.

A gift. A gift to her, from Talon. He hadn't forgotten about her...

"Thank you." She whispered softly to the cold morning air, her smile even brighter than before. Absurdly, she felt as if she were about to cry as she gently ran her fingers over the green bow on top of the box. She carefully folded the note back up and slipped it under the ribbon to keep it safe, frowning a bit as she noted a logo of some sort on the side. She didn't recognize it, but it was pretty nonetheless. She picked up the box and carefully flew back up to the windowsill, slipping into the warm house with her new possession.

Ava set it onto the counter near the window and stared at it for a moment. She knelt down in front of it again and gently untied the ribbon, lifting the box top and peering into it. In the box, sitting at the bottom was a photograph. The feien frowned and extracted the picture, the first thought coming to mind was why did Talon give her a picture of an animal? She turned the picture over in her hand and found a small message stating that there was a friend waiting for her to go and pick him or her up at the Pixapet shelter.

She set the photo back into the box and put the lid back on, tying the ribbon again as best she could before reaching up and absently tugging on her spike of hair. Talon had picked out a pet for her? Now she would have something to take care of, and something that she could play and spend time with. She liked that idea very much. And maybe if he had the box dropped off that meant he was out and about already, and maybe he would stop by at the shop? She had no idea how many times he went there, or what times or days he went when he did go. If he even went! Her mouth twisted into a frown and she stood, looking at the pretty box and torn about what to do.

"Well... it wouldn't hurt to go and check, would it?" She queried no one, or perhaps she was talking to the gift itself. She extracted the note again, unfolding it and reading over it. Again she smiled, and she shrugged her shoulders slightly as she set the note on top of the box again. No, it wouldn't hurt. Better safe to go and know he's not there than sorry she didn't go and maybe later find out that she had missed him.

She stood up and flew over to the table, picking up the small, stub of a pencil that Rhia let her use and wrote a quick note to Rhia and Azy in the biggest writing she could, stating that she was out but would be back soon. She set the pencil down and flew back over to the gift, smiling to herself as she thought of a yo-yo. She carefully picked the box up and flew a second time over to the table, setting the box onto the piece of paper she had written on. She picked up the pencil again and added a quick sentence or two about the gift, just to make sure they didn't do anything to it.

That done, she flew out of the kitchen and up the staircase as fast as she could (which sadly wasn't very fast). Passing by Rhia's room again, she noted that both her bond and Azy were still asleep. By now she had put Gwydion completely out of her mind, since he normally slept during the day and it was late morning, he was probably asleep in the guest room. She landed just outside the door of the once empty room at the end of the hall and slipped in the opening once again. Though the room was still basically empty, a desk had been placed against the wall, near the window. Upon the desk sat her paper, her quill, the strange card Rhia had given her, and a few other trivial items. There also sat, open to an empty page, the diary that she (and sometimes her bond) recorded things in. She picked up her quill and wrote an extremely small message before dropping it again and heading out.

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
I received a gift from Talon (and Berra) today, I found it sitting on the porch. It's a photograph, but from what I got there's a pet waiting for me at somewhere called the Pixapet Shelter. I have to go and pick it up. I'm really happy, even though I didn't get anything for them. Hopefully I'll be able to thank them for it somehow.

I'm going to the shop for a little, and perhaps I'll see some of my family there or meet someone new.

RP took place November 15th
Ava slipped into the shop through the open window and flew over to the counter. She was silently pleased with her graceful landing, since it was something she had just perfected a short while ago. She scanned the shop with her emerald eyes, hoping to perhaps see the familiar face of Talon, or maybe Irisa, and was slightly disheartened when she saw neither.

Oh well, there was always next time. She decided to hang around for a little, just in case someone she knew did show up. Her eyes landed on two feien she didn't know and a small small crept onto her lips. She folded her arms over her chest and decided to wait a moment before going over, it seems they were just greeting each other and she didn't want to interrupt anything.

Pricking his ears up a bit, Shalafi turned towards Ava, his gaze flicking back and forth erratically. "Who's there?" Part of him was afraid it was the 'mockingbird' come back again...

"Um. B-books? Oh, hey! Someone new just came in!" Nero replied, swiftly changing the subject. He whirled and gave the newcomer an energetic wave, teeth gleaming white.

"Hi!" he called.

Ava blinked her bright eyes for a moment, taken aback by Shalafi's brusque tone. She hadn't done anything to him, had she?

"It's... umm, it's Ava?" She said softly, not exactly sure how to answer his question. She smiled hesitantly and returned the wave Nero gave her. Feeling a little better, she decided to venture over to them. She had met so few feien, she felt in a very good mood that she would get the chance to meet two more.

The white Feien seemed to relax a bit once he knew it wasn't Fifth come back. "I'm Shalafi, it's good to meet you, Ava." He smiled to her, extending one hand cordially.

Nero beamed broadly as she approached, swaying from side to side. New people! Gods, new Feien every day almost. It made life exciting!

"I'm Nero! Pleasure to meet you," he said, making a quick, somewhat clumsy bow.

Ava smiled and accepted the hand Shalafi had offered her, and, as was her usual, "I like your hair."

She then turned to Nero and gave him a smile also, her crisp eyes sparkling, "In case you didn't hear, I'm Ava, it's very nice to meet you both. You're the first feien I've seen in quite awhile! I was beginning to think I would never see one again besides my own reflection."

Reaching back, Shalafi tugged at the ponytail that trailed down his back, then smiled. "I'll take your word for it... I have no idea what it really looks like."

Ava's smile faltered for a moment and she blinked, a small frown appearing on her lips as she looked at Shalafi. "You have never looked at yourself in a mirror before?"

"Your hair is gorgeous, Shalafi," Nero scolded. Then, smiling, he turned back to Ava. "I heard. Got sharp ears from my 'father.' And is that so? You should come around more often! Or - um, try getting the addresses of Feien you meet and going to visit them? that's always fun," he chatted, idly playing with his hair.

Shaking his head softly in reply, Shalafi didn't elaborate for the moment, he instead let Nero continue speaking as he stood near the two other feien

Nero, too, hesitated, feeling slightly awkward because of the question and Shalafi's lack of response. After a moment, he cleared his throat and smiled winningly at Ava. "Lots of the Feien here are friendly! It's not difficult to meet people to socialize with, really. There are three others at my house - you're free to stop by and meet them all, if you want."

Ava studied Shalafi a moment longer, but felt he didn't want to talk about it. Putting the topic out of her mind for now, she turned her eyes to Nero and smiled. She liked these two already, and that was good, she needed more friends.

"I'd like to stop by sometime, it's always nice to meet new feien. It does get lonely at times at my home, and I only have directions to Neruo's and Talon's homes. You have quite a lot of hair," She commented to Nero, and then smiled softly, realizing that sounded a bit rude. "But it's very pretty, the colors go well with you."

Only when there was finally a break in the conversation did Shalafi reply. "I'm unable to see," he said simply, wings ruffling slightly as he shivered. He remembered the conversation he'd had with Julius that day, and a faint smile crossed his face, He had to tell Yeande and Youko that it wasn't their fault... they'd be thrilled!

Nero's cheeks flushed bright red, and he giggled nervously. "It's nothing special. Just... messy, really, and impossible to deal with," he muttered, smiling sheepishly.

"But you've got very nice hair too, Ava! It's so neat. I wish I could say the same about my hair." Nero sighed, running his fingers through it. The immediately caught on a tangle and he drew them out.

Ava blinked and for a moment couldn't think of anything to say. She didn't want to sound rude, but she didn't want to upset Shalafi either. Finally, unable to think of anything else, "I'm sorry, I didn't know."

She looked over to Nero and pursed her lips slightly, giving him a tight smile. She didn't really care for her hair, but she was comfortable enough to accept any comments people made on it. Except perhaps if they were bad ones. "Thank you, but your hair is much better than mine, trust me."

Another round of uncomfortable, schoolgirl-esque giggles, and Nero nervously twirled a piece around his finger. For all its faults, at least his hair kept his hands busy, and Nero felt almost compelled to keep his hands in constant motion.

"Well, I happen to like your hair. Trust me, I've seen much worse."

Div's wild hair had always struck Nero as... odd. Stuck straight out and up.

"So! Are you a new Feien?" he asked, swaying slightly.

Watching Nero play with his own hair, Ava felt a small urge to reach up and play with her own, but she refrained from giving in. There was no way she was going to draw anymore attention to that stupid cowlick on her head.

"I guess that depends on what you think of new, my summonday is September 20th." The small earth feien fell silent for a moment as she remember that the 20th had passed by like any other day. Her bond hadn't even mentioned it to her, and whether she admitted it or not, it hurt.

"It's alright," Shalafi said softly, nodding to her. "If you couldn't tell off the bat, that means I'm learning to deal with it a lot better."

Nero laughed. "September? Wow, I feel old," he said, scratching the back of his neck. How old was he now? Six months? Seven months?

Whoo boy.

Shalafi spoke up, and Nero glanced back at him, biting his lip. After a moment, he laid a steadying hand on the Feien's shoulder - gently, and Nero didn't really know why. It just seemed like the right thing to do.

He didn't pull away from the touch, simply accepted it and let his wings rustle slightly in response.

Ava's wings shifted slightly and she cocked her head to one side, causing her spike of hair to bob up and down lightly. She didn't really know what to say now, and she didn't want to say the wrong thing to Shalafi and cause him to become upset.

Desperate to break the ice, Nero pulled his hand away from Shalafi and smiled brightly. "You've got such lovely colors by the way! Arturo - my father, sort of - has red prellan too. I think it's a very nice color. Puchi, my bond, certainly wears a lot of it."

Okay, so it wasn't great conversation. But ANYTHING was better than uncomfortable silence.

Shalafi noted the silence and shifted on one foot slightly, not quite sure what to say. "I haven't met you before Ava, and for that I'm sorry. I've been rather occupied lately, I believe. Do you come here often?"

Aria flew into the shop. rather bored. Ianios had left on his journey, and the house was rather lonely with Naaro and Rynn gone during the day. Lily didn't like talking much, she preferred reading.

Aria settled down on the counter top, waving to the other feien within the shop. "Hi," she said. She didn't know these, did she?

Shalafi glanced towards the new voice, tilting his head to the side. Who was that... he knew the voice. His mind did calculations quickly, remembering wh en he'd come to the shop before the rain once, with Yeande. Ianios was there, and his sister....

"Aria!" he called, smiling softly. "Hello."

Ava smiled a little self consciously as Nero complimented her coloring. Neruo had done the same thing when they had spoken, was it really that pretty?

"I honestly don't find anything pretty about it... but thank you," She turned to Shalafi and gave him a slightly sad smile. "Unfortunately, no, I don't come here often. I've only been here two or three I think."

Ava blinked and turned her head to look up at Aria as she called to them. The earth feien smiled and gave the other a small wave.

Aria smiled. Ah, she knew the white one! "Hey Shalafi!" She flew over so not to shout. Landing nearby, she folded her wings. "How are you doing?"

She glanced to Nero, taking a moment to register him. "Nero...? Oh my, you grew up! You look nice!"

Then she looked to the female. "Hi, I'm Aria!"

Well, things seemed to be going a bit more smoothly, and Nero had to get home - it was almost dinner time, and today, it was Chinese Taco Tandori night!

Well, okay. It was Leftover Takeout night. But it sounded much more exciting the other way.

"Hate to say it, but I gotta go," Nero sighed, then reached out to pull Ava into a hug. No one could say the memory Feien was unaffectionate. "It was a pleasure to meet you, and I hope to see you again soon," he giggled, releasing her. The he turned to Shalafi and gave him another hug, squeezing him tightly.

"Maybe I'll stop by later," he contemplated aloud, smiling. Then, after one last good-bye, Nero was gone.

Ava smiled to Aria as she introduced herself, "Hello, I'm Ava. It's nice to-"

She was cut off as Nero yanked her into an almost unbearably tight hug and then released her just as abruptly. She blinked a few times, and then watched as he flew away.

"Bye, Nero!" She called out after him and then turned back to the others, smiling. "He certainly is nice, and maybe a little hyper."

Shalafi chuckled, waiting until Nero had gone before turning back to Ava. "He's a nice guy to know," he said simply, his gaze flicking slightly from side to side as he tried to determine exactly where she was.

Ava smiled and looked downwards for a moment, again at a momentary loss as what to say. She looked up again after a moment and folded her hands behind her back, "Is your bond nice? I mean, do they care about you and let you know it?"

Her wings twitched for a moment as she cringed a little, not really sure if he would know what she was trying to say.

"Oh yes," he said, smiling as he nodded. "Youko isn't around as much as some owners are, but he cares about us and helps where needed. There's three of us where I live, and it sometimes gets hectic. What about your bonded?"

Ava hesitated a moment before saying anything, her lower lip being bitten as she thought it over. She didn't want to make Rhia sound worse than she really was, but she hated lying.

"My bonded is..." Ava shrugged a little, trying to find the right words to describe the demon, "She's not ignorant, but she seems not to care very much. She does care, I know she does, but she can be a little heartless at times."

"It's sometimes just the way people are," Shalafi tried to explain, understanding a bit. "Youko doesn't always say he cares, and sometimes is a bit brusque with us, but it doesn't mean that he doesn't care about us."

"Yes, I know that, and she does keep Gwydion from tearing my wings off..." A small shudder passed through the feien as she thought about the vampire boy, but she didn't dwell on it. "What's it like to live with other feien? I've often wondered, it must be nice to have someone to talk to every day."

Aria nodded. "Nice to meet you Ava."

She sat down nearby, happy to have someone to talk too. "Rynn's pretty nice with us, except when we don't listen. Generally she'd pretty fun to be around."

Sighing, Shalafi shrugged in a noncomittal manner. "It's okay, I guess. Yeande's nice, and acts like a mom to us. Ankou's a bit of a pain in the a**, but I keep getting told that I just need to get to know him." Truth be told, he didn't WANT to get to know the Death Feien. He just wanted the little psychopath to leave him alone.

Ava smiled to the two. Though Shalafi seemed not too thrilled with the others in his household, Aria appeared to be happy.

"How many feien do you live with, Aria?" She asked, before turning to study Shalafi quizzically. "Is Ankou another feien?"

Aria grinned. "I only have my brother, Ianios. Ian for short. He's a plant feien." She bit her lip, thinking. "Well, not really brother and sister, just bonded to the same person. He's off on a journey. See that gemstone?" She asked, pointing out the red gemstone with the black lines running through it. "That was Celaien, Ian's intented mate. So he left to "Find Himself" whatever that means," she explained.

Nodding, Shalafi frowned. "He's another feien. Not the brightest one, and nearly impossible to deal with. Yeande tries to keep him in line, but it doesn't always work."

Ava listened to both the feien and then nodded. She wanted to know more about them both, but she realized she had been gone for awhile and Rhia might be angry with her if she stayed gone for too much longer.

"I'm sorry, but I think I better hurry home before Rhia gets mad." She reached forward to take Shalafi's hand and give it a gentle squeeze, doing likewise to Aria. "It was very nice meeting you both, and I hope to see you again soon. Take care of yourselves."

With that, the earth feien reluctantly turned and headed out the window.

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
Talon wasn't at the shop today, and I really wanted to see him. Irisa wasn't there either, but I did meet three new feien today; Nero, Shalafi and Aria. They were all really nice, though I didn't get to talk with Aria for very long. She was blue, and she was really pretty. Nero was blue and red, and he had really long hair. It was two colors, and it was really neat looking. He kept playing with it, which makes me think he's proud of it. And he should be, I mean, he doesn't have a toothpick on his head. He also seemed a littler hyper, or giddy perhaps, I wonder if that's what Tahki is like?

Shalafi was quiet, but he's really neat looking. He's all white, and he's blind. At first I didn't realize it, but he and Nero told me later on. I don't really feel sorry for him, because he's doing quite well without his eyesight; I couldn't even tell he was blind in the beginning. But I do feel a little bad for him, because he can't see all the beautiful things that everyone else can. But I guess if he was born that way he doesn't know what he's missing? If I ever see him again I hope I don't say something stupid and make him upset or angry.

I like the shop a lot, so hopefully I'll be able to go there more often. I'm not too sure though, the way things are around here at the moment are kind of bad. Gwydion is... well, I'd rather not talk about him. I'm glad Azy is here, Rhia really likes him and it's good to see her happy.

Oh! I almost forgot, the mask Rhia got the other day turned into a boy! He's a samurai, at least that's what Rhia said. His name is Kenshi, and I really like him. He's polite and soft spoken and really nice. Rhia brought home two new pets the other day, she calls them Faemice. One has wings, because she's older, and she can talk, her name is Pyra. The other one is a little smaller and different colors, his name is Paddy and he doesn't have wings yet, and he can't speak. At least now all my roommates aren't mean to me.

Ava flitted down the hallway towards the living room, her bright eyes looking here and there as she flew, though her face was rather depressed looking. Rhia and Azy were currently out, shopping or something, and she was left alone with the Faemice, Kenshi and... Gwydion. It was about four forty-five in the afternoon, still light outside, but the sun had already started to set.

Pyra and Paddy were out on the porch, curled up together and sleeping (Ava had already noted that they seemed to be either sleeping or getting into trouble). Gwydion was upstairs in the guest bedroom, still sleeping, and should stay that way for another half hour or so. As she lazily floated from one side of the hallway to the other and back again, her mind wandered to the mask Rhia had gotten not so long ago. Though it was actually a boy now. The earth feien still didn't understand how the black and white mask had turned into a small boy, but then again, a mushroom had turned into her, right? At first Rhia had been rude and skeptical, but it didn't take long for her to like Kenshi. Though Rhia's lover didn't seem too fond of another addition to the household at first, he too came around when he saw how much Rhia liked the samurai. At the moment Kenshi was upstairs in the master bedroom, asleep on Rhia's bed.

The small creature flew into the living room and sighed softly, again noting the darkness of the house. She understood why Rhia had the drapes pulled closed all day everyday, but that didn't mean she had to like it. She headed towards one of the bay windows and slipped through the curtains to land on the small seat. Stepping up to the window, she placed her hands flat against the cool glass. She couldn't see the sun anymore, but she knew from the time that it was about halfway behind the horizon. The sky was an almost purple-blue color, and just above the tops of the trees it faded into a deep crimson. She loved the sunset, but she couldn't help feeling slightly disappointed about the clouds clearing up. No matter how much she loved sunsets, she loved the rain that much more.

Ava's emerald eyes scanned the forest, half for Rhia and Azy and half just because it was something to look at, before she lowered her hands from the glass. She wished Rhia and Azy would hurry back. Her bond had promised she would be home before dark, and the earth feien had every right to believe her bond would not leave her here alone after the sun went down.

When Gwydion awoke.

She turned away from the window and took to the air again, but a soon as her upper body went through the curtains and back into the living room, something slammed into her shoulder blades and sent her spiraling towards the floor. She flailed her arms for a moment and spread her wings out, slowing her fall considerably before her back hit the carpet, followed by her head. She lay there for a minute, dazed and hurting.

"I'm so sorry," Cooed a soft, slightly accented voice. "I thought you were a big, ugly bug."

Ava's heartbeat doubled and she shot into a sitting position, her eyes wide as she looked up. The vampire stood next to her, his hands folded behind his back and his features dark and foreboding.

"Gwydion... I... wh-what are you doing awake?"

No, no, no! This was awful, terrible! She was in the house, with Gwydion... alone! He must have woken up sooner today than normal, and Rhia was still gone.

"Dear, sweet Ava, I do not sleep for the same length everynight." He smiled then, a cruel smile that made the feien tremble visibly. "Now that I am awake, would you like to keep me company?"

"I..." Her voice trailed off for a moment as she looked up at him. She had never been actually afraid before, but she was now and she realized she didn't like the feeling one bit. Her chest was tight and it was almost painful to breathe, and her stomach felt weird... she couldn't stop the small tremors that ran through her body. Slowly rising from the ground to stand, the earth feien's eyes wandered to the closest archway that led out into the hall. Gwydion seemed to know where she was looking without taking his gaze off her, and when he spoke his voice was filled with mock disappointment.

"Oh my, you aren't thinking on leaving me, are you?" His slender brows drew together and he leaned forward slightly. "I would hate to be left alone."

"I... I told Rhia I would wait for her out on the porch," Ava explained, trying to keep her voice steady. "She and Azy will be back any minute and I think she'd be angry if I wasn't out there."

"Oh, come now, I'm sure she would understand your reasoning for not being out to greet her." He smiled again, his fangs glinting. "We've spent no time alone together, and I think it's about time we bonded."

With a speed Ava had only seen Rhia use, Gwydion reached out with one hand and snatched her off the ground by one of her wings. She let out a gasp and instinctively kicked her legs as she dangled in the air.

"Let me go!" She flapped her left wing, her free one, futilely as he held tightly to her other.

"Dear Ava, I simply wish to play." He reached up with his other hand and pinched her left ankle in between his thumb and index finger, ceasing most of her struggling. Her eyes widened and she tried to reach the fingers that held her wing, but he had it stretched up above her head and her fingers couldn't even touch his.

"I wonder what kind of a sound you'll make when I tear your wing off." He mused softly, his voice full of laughter.

"No!" Tears welled up in the feien's emerald eyes and she started struggling in his grip again. "Please, let me go!"

"Perhaps you'll get taller before I part you with your appendage." Gwydion chuckled softly and started to gently pull her wing and leg in opposite directions. Her wing stretched out a little further and then stopped, but he kept pulling.

"Stop! Please!" Ava screeched, a small trickle of blood sliding along her back as Gwydion's actions caused the bottom of her wing to tear away from her back. She let out a wordless shriek, having never before experienced this level of pain.

"Dear me, does that hurt?" Gwydion's continued smirk and the snide tone in his voice proved that he didn't care that he was hurting her, and in fact, liked that he was making her suffer. He pulled for a second longer, causing the wound to grow, before letting go of her ankle and lifting her small body up close to his face. The feien let out a soft sob as tears streaked down her unusually face.

"You are pathetic." Gwydion remarked as he licked his lips and his grin widened.

Ava's small body shuddered and she squeezed her eyes shut for a moment, eliciting another chuckle from the vampire. She tried to block out the pain from her wing and back, but found it was useless. She had to get away, now... before he actually did rip her wing off...

Taking a deep breath, she opened her eyes and flapped her good wing; causing her body to swing upwards and towards his hand. Though it pulled on her wounded wing and caused a bright flash of pain, she was able to reach out and grasp his thumb. Before he could figure out what she was doing, she opened her mouth wide and then bit into his thumb as hard as she could. He inhaled sharply as her teeth sank into his skin and he jerked his hand away; letting go of Ava and sending her tumbling through the air. She spread her wings out to stop her fall and immediately cried out, her bleeding wing stinging sharply. Her flight path wobbled and dipped low before rising again and heading in a relatively straight path. She couldn't open her wounded wing very far, but at least it was enough to keep her in the air.

As she headed for the kitchen she bit her lip and whimpered softly. It hurt... it hurt so bad! She had never felt pain like this before, but all she knew was she had to leave, get away from Gwydion; and flying was the only option right now. She dove out the open window in the kitchen, clipping her wing on the frame and crying out again. Tears still leaked from her wide eyes, and blood dripped to the ground, but she kept herself in the air; heading as fast as she could towards the forest.

Gwydion watched the small creature fly out of the living room in a state of near hysteria. He was cradling the hand she had bitten and sneering, that little b***h's bite stung! No matter, he would exact his revenge some other time, he was in the moor to let her go.

"You can run, but I'll be waiting for you."

RP took place November 21st (compilation taken with permission from Karma's diary)
Ava really didn't know where she was going until she realized there were houses around her, none she had ever seen before, but somehow she knew where she was going. At least in theory. 6405 Dublin Street.

Her wing still hurt, but nowhere near as much as it had when Gwydion had first injured it. During her flight here, which had seemed unimaginably long, the injured appendage had given out on her a few times and had sent her spiraling down into bushes, mud and once on solid concrete. The front of her body was smeared and streaked with dirt, and though she hadn't been seriously hurt, there were a few scratches on about every part of her body. Just when she thought her wing might give out on her again, perhaps for good, she spotted the address she was looking for and felt a huge wave of relief.

She veered towards the house, wobbling for a moment and almost falling again before she regained control. She looked over the windows until she found one that had a ledge on the outside she could land on. Trying to come in slowly, she failed and stumbled to her hands and knees when her feet touched the windowsill. Her wing had stopped bleeding sometime during the flight, but her back had a considerable amount half-dried blood on her skin; her left wing hanging limply at her side.

Ava sat there for a moment, chest heaving and eyes once again brimming with tears before she hauled herself to her feet and walked over to the glass. She pressed her hands against it and tried to peer in, looking for someone - anyone - that might be home. At first seeing no one, she walked the length of the window until she came to the small opening on one side. She wearily rubbed at the dirt on her face, streaking it with the fresh tears that stained her cheeks and she slipped in; stopping just inside the window as her body shook with sobs. Her voice, when she spoke, was soft and cracked, almost sounding like she had never spoken before in her life.

"Daddy..?"

Talon had been nearly asleep just behind the pillows of the guest bed, trying to quiet the turmoil in his head from recent developments. At hearing the young feien speak, he jolted immediately upward. He knew already it wasn't Berra...the voice was too different. Seeing Ava, and likewise her current state over the edge of one of the pillows, he immediately got to his feet and glided to the windowsill in a frantic flurry of white wings.

Somehow remembering that she had been a bit adverse to him when he'd met her in the shop, he landed a short distance from her rather than following his first instinct of wanting to offer immediate comfort and protection in case that wasn't what she wanted at all. He'd let her come to him.

"Ava..." he said in a soft voice, blinking as clear worry shone in his eyes. Lowering himself to one knee to be moreso at her level, he knit his brow. "Ava, what happened...??"

Ava tried to put on a brave face for Talon, but she figured in calling him Daddy that had pretty much ruined any chance she had of trying to seem like she was okay in his eyes. Then again, she wasn't okay, and she didn't want to pretend like she was. She raised one of her arms, her hand shaking as she pointed out the window.

"Rhia left. A-and I was alone... and Gwydion w-woke up..." She bit her lower lip to stop it from trembling, realizing that the worry she saw in her father's eyes was making it even harder for her to not break down and start weeping like a baby. She stopped pointing out the window and bought her hand to her face, curling it into a fist and pressing it against her cheek as the tears kept falling from her emerald eyes.

"He hurt me... my wing..." She voiced a sob then, giving up on trying to explain it any better at the moment. She took a hesitant step towards him, the hand at her side coming forward slightly, almost in a beseeching manner, before she unevenly hurried over to him; throwing herself against him and ignoring the pain that flared in her wing. She clung to him as if letting go would be the end of her and tried her best to keep from sobbing aloud. "I'm scared, daddy..."

Talon immediately reciprocated the hug, careful of the indicated hurt wing and wrapping his own larger wings around the both of them in a protective shroud. He didn't know who this Gwydion was, or why he would hurt Ava, but he did his best to keep the immediate and impulsive rage at a minimum. Gwydion wasn't here, Ava was...and Ava needed him.

"You're safe here..." he whispered, resting his head on top of hers reassuringly. "I'll be damned before anybody hurts you on my watch, Ava." he put a bit more emphasis in the second statement, wincing a bit as he felt the tackiness of drying blood beneath his fingers as he held her. What had he done to her...?

Ava felt slightly better now that she was here with her father, and she realized that maybe she knew as soon as she had flown out the kitchen window this is where she would end up. Though they didn't really know each other that well, and she had only seen him two or three times before, Talon was her father, and she really did love him.

She lifted her head slightly and produced a small, quavering smile for him, trying to show him it wasn't so bad, though she still clung to him tightly and her words were as weak as her smile. "I'll be okay... I don't think he broke it or anything."

He lifted his head off of hers and looked down at her with concern. Seeing her smile a bit made him feel a fraction better, but her blood and dirt-smeared skin didn't help the illusion much. "He shouldn't be hurting you at -all-, let alone breaking things..." he said, trying to sound serious, however his own voice wavered, betraying the stress the past few days had brought him. At length, he sighed and briefly squeezed her tighter before releasing her again.

He smoothed her hair a bit, looking to her wing next, and the way it laid against her back with no life to it. Tentatively, he reached out to it, trying to see where the damage began and whether it was something he might be able to fix for her.

Ava looked at him curiously for a moment before he started to study her wing. Something seemed to be wrong, and for a moment she wasn't sure if she should have come here and worried him the way she had. She felt the urge to apologize for just bursting in on him like this, but she winced and her body jerked as her wing stung sharply again; she had tried to move it without realizing what she was doing. She swiveled her head to the side and tried to peer down to see what was wrong, but the wound was on the bottom of her wing and therefore out of her line of sight.

"What's wrong with it, is it broken?" She queried, having no idea what Gwydion had done to it. In all actuality, it wasn't technically broken, but the bottom part of her wing - about an eighth or so - was torn clean off her back. The wound was very obvious in how it had been done and what he had been intending; he had started to tear her wing off.

Ava turned her head back around and lowered it, her ears drooping ever so slightly and her voice extremely soft, almost shameful, "I'm sorry I came here without warning and bothered you, but I didn't know where else to go..."

"Shhh...you're never a bother. I'd much rather you came here without warning than didn't come at all." he assured her, leaning forward a little more to have a better look and feeling his stomach give a sour lurch at the damage. He wondered vaguely if this was worse than it being broken or not and furthermore if this was an intentional wound. But...on the bright side, he was fairly sure he could, if not fix it, at least help it along.

"It isn't broken." he added, answering her earlier question and deciding to leave the gorey details out. She'd clearly been through enough as it was. "Its torn, though. I think I can mend it for you, but it will be very uncomfortable for a bit."

He drew back to meet her green eyes with his own. "Would that be all right...?" he asked, not wanting to act without asking.

Ava seemed to perk up slightly at his question and she smiled again, having not known of his healing ability.

"You can heal things?" She asked, her voice stronger now that they were off the topic of Gwydion and what he had done. She nodded her head in consent, knowing any improvement would be better than leaving it the way it was.

"I wanted to come here before," She confided, her voice once again lowering slightly, "But obviously not hurt... I wanted to thank you for giving me the gift. It's the first gift anyone has ever given me. It had been so long since I last saw anyone I thought that maybe you had forgotten about me."

Ava pursed her lips together after that sentence, realizing how childish that sounded, even if she had half believed it.

At her consent, Talon immediately went to work, laying his hand gently but firmly against the wounded area of her wing, using his palm as a bridge between her back and where the wing was no longer attached. Narrowing his eyes to slits, his hand sprang to life with swarming white light that began immediately to pull skin-to-skin and flesh-to-flesh. The process, Ava would find, was maddeningly itchy and stung a bit.

One long ear twitched as she talked, signifying that he was still listening amid his concentration. "You're very welcome." he told her, not seeming bothered by the childishness of the implication in the least. "Like I said in my letter, I have no idea where you live and for that matter, I have no idea where Irisa lives either. I'm glad Aileron was able to find you."

Despite the fact he'd set his jaw in determination as the magic continued to work, he managed a half-smile. "I don't turn my back on anyone who hasn't turned their back on me first, Ava..."

Ava blinked a few times and laced her fingers together in front of her to keep from reaching around to fiddle with her wing as Talon healed it. It stung a little, and yet at the same time it itched like crazy. She had never wanted to scratch an itch more than she wanted to scratch this one, but she kept her hands tightly clasped in front of her, knowing that if she tried she may damage her wing further.

"I would tell you where I live," She said, her voice slightly strained with her effort to not scratch. But talking was good; it helped take her mind of the itching. "But it's kind of out in the middle of nowhere. Rhia doesn't really like other people, so she lives in a forest, it takes me a long time to get to the shop... and even longer to get here. I'm not exactly sure what the address is, if her house even has one."

Ava suddenly realized she had never told anyone where Rhia's house was before, and that struck her funny. She wasn't exactly sure why it bothered her, but it did. Her brows drew together slightly and she twiddled her thumbs for a moment, "I can try drawing you a map, but I'm not sure how good I can draw maps."

"If Rhia wouldn't mind me there, I'd appreciate that. If she doesn't want strangers visiting, you're welcome here whenever you like, whether I'm here or not." he replied, feeling the magic start to lessen as there was less work to do. The skin had been mended, at least, rejoining her wing with her back, but before he stopped, he tried to delve a little deeper, concentrating on broken blood vessels and torn muscles.

For the mostpart, it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack as it was near-impossible for him to heal what he couldn't see. Still, he felt he had to at least try for her. And to his credit, by the time he DID finally draw away, the wound had mostly been healed, save for extreme discoloration at the base where it would be badly bruised for awhile.

"Better...?" he asked tentatively as he drew his hand away from her wing, feeling drained and a bit lightheaded from the process. He still wanted to know who the hell this Gwydion was and why he'd seen fit to attack Ava, of all people...however, he likewise wasn't going to ask her to talk about it in her current state.

Ava flexed her wing a little and, though it still hurt, it did seem better. She opened it a little further and winced, folding it in against her body. She craned her neck again, trying to see the spot that had been hurt and got the same results as before. She didn't mind though, it was probably better that she hadn't seen it. She reached up and gently wiped at some of the dirt streaks on her face, nodding her head and causing her spike of hair to bounce up and down with the motion.

"Yes, it's a lot better, thank you." She hugged Talon again, just as tight as before, but she pulled back after only a moment this time. "I don't think Rhia would mind you coming to visit me sometime, or probably even your bond coming with you if she wanted."

Ava's nose crinkled slightly and she smiled, her emerald eyes sparkling within her dirtied face, "She would put up with you for my sake."

A visible stress seemed to pass out of him, seeing her in better spirits. At least he'd been able to help...at the rate things were going lately, he was wondering for a bit if all he was good at doing was making them worse.

"In that case, directions would be great." he told her, trying to smile back, somehow managing. It faded after a moment as his serious expression returned. "If--if whoever hurt you is still out there..." he spoke as evenly as he could, trying not to betray his anger at her current state. "....then maybe it would be best if you stayed here for the night? There's a sink just down the hallway you could get cleaned up in...and there's plenty of room."

His expression suggested he hoped she would accept this offer. He might not have been in much of a physical state to go head-to-head with her attacker, but that didn't mean he couldn't shelter her on his own turf. And if Karma minded, she was perfectly welcome to eat a bag of hell as far as he was concerned. It would be a cold day in hell before he'd send one of his family back off into the jaws of danger after just having escaped them.

Ava's smile faltered at his words, but she recovered it before it was lost completely. Of course he was worried about her, he had every right to be. Though the smile was still across her lips, it no longer reached her eyes.

"Gwydion is a vampire, and he's... kind of staying at Rhia's house for the time being." She said softly, the smile fading even as she tried to keep it on her face. She blinked and then looked up at Talon. "But don't misunderstand me, Rhia really is a good bond! She's stronger than he is, and she keeps him away from me. It's just she went out with Azy, and Kenshi was asleep upstairs when Gwydion woke up, so no one was there to protect me from him. She promised she would be back in time, but she wasn't. Azy doesn't like Gwydion at all, and he wants Rhia to kick him out, but she says there's something about him that she wants to learn, something that could keep him from being so mean."

She reached up and gently tugged on her cowlick, not so self conscious about it when in her father's presence. She wasn't sure if she'd be able to explain it to him, but even though Gwydion was cruel to her and scared her, she still didn't wish anything bad on him. "I'd like to stay very much, but I don't want Rhia getting too upset with Gwydion. If she comes home and finds me missing, she'll think that he really had done something to me and I don't want that. I don't want someone else getting in trouble when I could have prevented it."

"But--" he stopped the protest before it could escape and forced himself to nod. Right....she had her own life which she understood much better than he did. All he could do was make his decisions based on what he saw from where he was posted on the outside.

.....and while he thought that Gwydion fully DESERVED Rhia getting upset with him for what he'd done, short of trying to force Ava to stay, there wasn't much he could do about it. Gods he hated it sometimes...! Why did they all have to live so far away from him and keep him in a position where he so badly wanted to be there for all of them yet had to resign himself to not being there at all most of the time?

"All right." he said with a little difficulty. "Then--Then will you at least let me fly you home? In case your wing gives you more trouble, I mean. And that way you wouldn't need to bother yourself with a map...I remember directions well." His alterior motive to this, of course, was that if further trouble presented itself, he could be there to interfere with it before more damage occurred.

Ava was silent for a moment, her brow drawing together and her mouth set in a grim line. She wanted to stay, but she also wanted to go, and she wanted Talon to fly her home, but she also didn't want to put him at risk for a confrontation with Gwydion... she had never before been so confused. Of course, if she did refuse to let him come, he might just insist and follow her anyways. And if she stayed the night, she would eventually have to go back, and staying here would mean facing Rhia tomorrow, who would probably be upset that she had been gone all night long.

The small feien gently rubbed her left temple with her fingertips and shook her head a little. "I... honestly don't know what to do. I want to stay, I don't get to see you very often and I miss you, but I think staying might not be a good idea. And I don't want you coming back with me, because Gwydion might still be there... I don't want you to get hurt. He'll probably be mad that I bit him and made him bleed, and he might just squish us with a book or something..."

At that thought her crisp eyes widened slightly and a shudder passed through her body. Getting squished with a book, or anything for that matter, was not something she wanted to have happen to herself. Or more importantly to Talon. She gave him a slightly helpless look and her shoulders rose and fell in a shrug, "I guess whatever I do will end up being the wrong thing."

Talon sighed and drew her into a hug...not quite as tight as the panicky ones they'd been caught up in when she'd first arrived. "Its your decision, Ava." he told her. "I'd much rather chance getting hurt than see you get hurt even worse, but if you'd rather I stay here, I will..." Getting the words out was like trying to swallow broken glass.

Staying here and letting her go off on her own was the last thing he wanted to do right now...but....if she wanted it that way....

"....Rhia is a friend of Neko's, right...?" he asked out of the blue, the question seeming to have nothing to do with anything before he quickly continued.

"Karma is a friend of Neko's too...maybe she could place a call to Neko, Neko could place a call to Rhia, and she could come get you? We don't have to tell her why you came...we could just say that you bruised your wing on the way over and can't fly well with it..."

It was merely a suggestion...his tone wasn't eager, nor was it lackluster, he simply was laying this hand of cards out on the table for her, seeing what she'd think of it. Compared to the other two options, it seemed like middleground.

Ava brightened slightly at that proposal; it sounded much better than any of the ones she had been brooding over. But the smile that had come to her face soon faded once again and she frowned.

"But Rhia might not be home. She said she would, but that doesn't mean she's there. I guess Neko can leave a message on her answering machine, she'll probably check that before really searching the house for everyone." Ava fell silent for a moment, the wheels in her head almost visibly turning. Her face broke into a sudden smile a second later, and she reached over to grasp one of Talon's hands in both of her smaller ones.

"If we leave a message on Rhia's machine, or if Neko can talk to her, to tell her to come pick me up, can't we just ask her if I can stay over here with you?"

Talon smiled, this one more genuine than the others he'd tried to give her before. "We can do that, certainly." he nodded, looking down at their joined hands and then moving to get up. "Why don't we go do that now, in fact, before she can decide she's going to bed for the night?"

Ava silently beamed, feeling slightly happy with herself for coming up with that. But of course, she knew Talon would have thought of it if she hadn't. She stretched her wing a little, testing to see how it felt, and was glad that it didn't hurt too badly anymore.

"I'm sure Rhia will say yes, she knows how much I miss you and wish we could be together more often." She let go of his hand with one of her own, but kept a firm grip on it with the other.

"We'll have to fix that." he told his daughter as he stood, arching his back to pop it. His arm felt a little numb from the mending job it had done, but he was more or less feeling better than he had earlier. "As soon as I get back from helping Irisa on her quest, I'd like very much to visit you and make up for lost time, if you'll let me."

He felt like he'd missed out on so much already. He likewise knew he was under no obligation to involve himself in his childrens' lives as it was supposedly unnatural of feien to want anything to do with their children period....but this had nothing to do with what was natural, it had to do with what he felt was right.

Wandering to the edge of the sill to take off in search of his bonded, he fanned his wings and looked over his shoulder expectantly at Ava, waiting for her to join him.

Ava smiled and looked at Talon before joining him. She had missed him so much, along with Irisa, perhaps because she had yet to meet the other members of her family. On that note, she wondered briefly where Kookaberra was and if they would meet or not. She hoped so, but she didn't get her hopes up; past experiences told her that was a bad idea.

She walked over to stand beside Talon, tilting her head back to look up and him and she smiled curiously; her wings opening. "Irisa is going on a quest with you? You'll have to tell me more about that sometime. Or perhaps we can all get together, then Irisa will be able to tell me about it as well."

Relieved she wasn't upset with the fact that he was going as others had been, Talon let out an inward sigh of relief. "Well, its her quest, really." he told Ava gently. "I'm going along for support and protection, as far as I know. And it should only be for a month if all goes well."

Lifting off of the sill with a flutter of white wings. "And I'd be happy to tell you all about it, just as I'm sure she will be when we get back." She'd probably have a more positive outlook than I would, anyway he thought privately to himself, knowing his tendancy to focus on the bad things that happened on excursions rather than the good.

Gliding toward the open guest room door, he ventured into the hallway, Ava behind him, in search of Karma.

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
I got back from Karma's house a little while ago, and Gwydion doesn't seem to be anywhere in the house. He must have already left to go do what vampires do at night, which is good. I really, really don't want to see him again anytime soon.

Rhia commented on the bruise on my wing, and I really hate to lie, so I kind of avoided the question entirely. I felt a little bad about keeping it from her, but I just don't want her getting mad and going off and hurting Gwydion. I don't think Dad understood why I didn't want anyone knowing Gwydion did it, and I know Rhia wouldn't just shrug it off and let it slide. She really would do something, and I'm afraid she might do something really drastic. When she gets to a certain point of anger... it's kind of hard to calm her down, or even get near her without her trying to hurt you. It's like she can't really tell who's who or what's what. It scares me, but Azy just says not to worry about it. Well, it's hard not to worry about it when I'm living with her.

Kookaberra wasn't there when I stayed over at Dad's house for the night, she was off a on quest he said. I was disappointed, I really want to meet her, but it seems every time I get the chance something happens that messes it up. I should be thankful though, and I am, at least I know my father and Irisa well.

The day before yesterday was my second summonday, and I was tempted to mention it to Rhia, but I didn't. I didn't even think to ask Talon if your summonday matters any, but then again, I had other things on my mind. I'm hoping I'll be able to go visit him again soon, under better circumstances, but I'll have to wait until he gets back from his trip in helping Irisa with her quest. It shouldn't be so bad though, I'm very patient and as long as I avoid Gwydion I'll be fine.
