MoT's hand slid up to Beth's hand and he gently slid Beth's arm off of him and then, almost unexpectedly, he pulled Beth swiftly down the dark path, "Come on! We might be late!" The trees overhead blocked out the starry sky. MoT ran even faster. The lights were swishing by with such speed that it seemed like a never ending dizzying dream.

The two came to the beach along the lake. MoT stopped and took in a shaky breath. A light veil of fog was beginning to cover the surface of the crystal lake. It was turning dark and murky. MoT looked up, fog was there too. He gasped as he looked all around. He was muttering something to himself and seemed impatient. One might have noticed how his jaw tightened or how his foot began tapping the sand angrily. He glanced around again. A leaf cracked in the back and MoT spun around.

Robert ducked into the bushes silently.

MoT stared into the darkness and then at the path from which the two came. He turned back around with a sigh.

MoT took a breath in. It was jerky, like his shuddering body. He looked at the lake but his eyes were lost in the fog. He looked down at the ground. He then looked at Beth. He was frowning but then he smiled, "A divine show."


Robert, in the bushes about ten yards away, strained to hear what MoT was saying. Divine what? He shifted. He was crouching down and his leg muscles were beginning to ache from the still position. Hurry up already!

MoT sighed and shook his head. "I don't know if we can see it though..."

MoT thought for a moment. He fought to overcome the sudden whirling in his mind. He took in a deep breath of the foggy air, "Come with me." His voice was quiet but hopeful; a new sparkle filled his eyes.

Robert gave a silent sigh one he saw the two moving away. He emerged from the bushes.


"Wait!" MoT turned to Beth, "wait...take off your shoes..." MoT looked down and slipped off his leather shoes and black socks. The sand was cold but soft in between his toes.

MoT laughed quietly, "Nothing else." His toes grabbed at the soft sand below his feet. They sank in submissively. "Feel the sand under your toes. Feels good doesn't it? Come on!" MoT tugged at Beth's arm and pointed towards one end of the beach.

Robert suddenly wished he had brought his camcorder. Taking off their shoes, eh? Hmmm interesting...Ack! Perverted thoughts...out! out! Darn you MoT!

MoT began running down the beach, sand kicking up behind him. If one didn't follow closely, it would seem like he would vanish into the fog. He turned and stopped every now and then so that Beth could catch up. His breathing was getting faster from the running. The sound of gentle waves breaking along the shoreline was the only sound. MoT could see his breath turn into a cloud and then fade into the fog.
