Soarin' x Kealdra Arrikanez x Tamiko-chan Diego x Xan/Kiros x Whisper Diego had been pacing threw the freelands of Telk looking around carfully as he could. Normally he didn't but his children seamed to be more trouble with wandering off then he thought they'd be. Lifting his maw he looked about, he hadn't been threw these parts since he was a slave to Reicher. Shuttering his mind wandered back onto those awful memories. Never again. It was then he started to blank it all out and turn more into his 'squirrelish' form. With a chitter here and there he kept walking as if he was trying to drown out his pain with his own self-inflicted insanity. ---------- Whisper sighed, aimlessly wandering here and there. An aching throb continued to persist at the back of her skull, and she found it difficult to concentrate on anything or to even think. So she let her mind fall blank as she watched her paws, tail tucked as it always was. But suddenly a new scent reached her nose, or she thought it was new. Something rang in her head. An alarm?
Frightened now that she couldn't figure out what it was that was bothering her, the female simply pressed herself against the ground, hoping that the grasses around her would be the right shade to hide her away.
And so it was like that that she watched Diego with golden eyes. Brilliant colors. But he looked a little... disturbed? Was that the right word?
Fearful he might be dangerous, she continued to lay there. Movement attracts the eye, she thought, and so with that kept herself in place. ---------- Xan was ranting again. Explaining some philosophy of some kind. Never letting Kiros think, as always, but it was nice to have the company, even if Xan was horribly evil. Something caught his attention, his mind switched from Xan, it was a scent, two scents. They were distinguished, but similar. Quiet. I need to listen. There was no further talking. Xan had actually listened to him. Letting out a sigh Kiros strained all senses towards these new objects of interest. They lay just over the hill. There wouldn't be harm in going in for a nice hello, would there?
So Kiros struck forward, his tail wagging slightly, body displaying prowess, though he was a loner. This aspect came from Xan, the overly dominant crazy bloodthirsty maniac that was Kiros. Kiros himself was far to weak and softhearted in Xan's opinion.
Your not goig to talk are you? I'm telling you the only way to deal with them is to spill blood. You give some people an inch and they'll think they're a ruler. As was the normal scheme of things, Kiros ignored Xan, simply kept up his quick walk and quickly went up and over the hill, spotting a rather colorful figure not so far away. ---------- The squirrel in him smelled the others even before Diego had much of a chance to register it in his own mind. One was a threat. The other? He knew this one; he'd spent much time with this one as a pup, before Reicher- before the insanity took over his mind. Whisper? His mind flicked back into his wolfish form. Every moment he'd spent with her had been wonderful, aquward when he got older...but still wonderful. Maybe she was near? Prehaps she'd be able to anwser some of his more biting questions...or even better...maybe she'd have her own pups for his children to play with.
He was about to race towards her sent when the wolf he registered as a threat came into view. He blinked for a few seconds- his split mind obviously arguing over who was going to control Diego's body. His body then began to twitch almost violently as they seamed to fight even harder. Diego attempted to form words but nothing more came out then chittering. Apparently his insanity had won out over him. ---------- Whisper watched, fear-stricken, as the colorful wolf not far in front of her seemed to fight with himself, though silently. Something was definitely wrong with him. It made her upset, made something inside of her stir, made her want to bolt for her life.
But then another scent drifted by on the air, alerting her to yet another stranger. There was something about him that she didn't like, and it only made her want to run off even more. Yet she couldn't run. Movement attracts the eye.
Still laying there, hopefully unnoticed, Whisp took in a deep and silent breath. Was there to be a conflict? She sure hoped not, for she wouldn't know what she would do if she was caught in the middle... ---------- My goodness! That wolf has gone nutty. Quickly, tackle him before he twitches his way over here.
Kiros rolled his eyes at Xan. Such strange things he suggested. Kiros couldn't quite fathom what to do, he could go try and talk to this strange wolf who appeared to be a bit insane, or he could go in search of this other scent, a scent which seemed to fade in and out. He certainly couldn't place where exactly it was comming from.
Shaking his head he resumed his walk and made his way towards the other wolf. A few yards away he stopped and cocked his head to the side, trying to make sense of this other wolf. ---------- Chitter....No! Where was the other wolf going?...Chitter...Towards the sent of Whisper?...CHITTER...I must pro-Chi...must protect her...
Diego shook his head fighting with himself for a few seconds more until he won out over his other side. Pacing forwards towards the female he spend forwards to put himself between the two. Prehaps they were friends but it seamed the other wolf with the strange blue markings had about the same amount of issues that he himself had. Turning back a quick glance his questions were confirmed.
"Whisper? Is that really you?"
Then his head grew more rigid and back towards his alpha state. Blinking he took a second to form a question. He wanted to sound as least threating as possible, but he wanted to protect his friend just incase the other had ill thoughts.
"Hello, tell me are your intentions friendly?" ---------- Whisper's eyes widened a fraction of a centimeter when the strangely colored wolf seemed to call out if it was really her. She hadn't met this one... had she? Nono, there was nothing in her memory of this one. So why did he know her name? Was he one of those seers she had heard a little bit about? They always seemed to know things that was either never told to them or that seemed totally out of the blue.
Then, without thinking, she poked her head out above the grasses to peer at Diego and the other wolf she had smelled. He had strange blue markings, but then he looked semi-normal in pelt when compared with this other one who knew her name.
The female's eyes only widened more when it seemed that the one who knew her name was trying to protect her. He seemed to recognize her. Why couldn't she remember him?
Still confused, she simply sat there, watching. What else was there for her to do? ---------- A thick chuckle bounded about Kiros' mind. It turned into a barking laugh, causing his head to ache. Are my intentions friendly? My intentions are to slowly settle you and then feel the taste of your blood on my maw. You look like a tasty specimen, little Alpha, but you friend there seems to be stressed. I would like to rip her flesh open first. She reminds me of the trees, perhaps I should shape her to my will, first? Kiros' mind whirled, unable to quite fathom what Xan was speaking. It made his stomach churn and he wanted to leave. He hung his head low and his tail drooped, his ears went back to his skull.
Of course he wouldn't submit fully and whimper, for of course, that's what Xan wanted him to do, but he certainly didn't want to have to listen to Xan any longer.
"Yes," was all he managed to reply. Xan forced him to look towards the green one, though Kiros didn't want to. So he closed his eyes and pretended to go somewhere else. Somewhere without Xan. ---------- Diego blinked once or twice as he watched the others strange behaviors. It was almost as if he was a mirrior image of himself as he suffered threw his own delisional fits. But what was this other wolf's side? His was no more then a harmless squirrel....this other one gave him a slightly different impression. He'd have to keep a close eye on him. As for Whisper he was quite glad he found her. He smiled widely taking another long glance at her.
"You probally don't remeber me- but you raised me as a pup....I guess you could say it's been awhile..."
Then with haste his eyes went back to the male. He just couldn't let his gaurd down with this one. Flicking one ear forwards he questioned again.
"So where do you hail from?"
Not that it was much of a question, but he wanted to keep some semblence of conversation going. It wasn't that he didn't trust the other wolf, he was just suspisious. ---------- Whisper frowned slightly and tilted her head. Why couldn't she remember this colorful male? He had said she'd raised him as a pup. One of her own? No... there was nothing in him that was like her. And his colors... too different. Maybe an abandoned pup she had picked up somewhere? Definitely seemed logical with her liking of pups.
Choosing not to comment, she simply remained sitting, watching the two. This new wolf that Diego seemed defensive towards was strange, though perhaps not so much as the one who claimed to have been raised by her.
Confusion filled her brain as she blinked, unable to process it all so quickly. ---------- Kiros had never been confronted like this before. He didn't look like a bad wolf, did he? Sure, he had large canines, but why judge a person by their first look? He felt like he was being watched, and that he couldn't do anything without being scrutinized. He wasn't liking this male's actions towards him and the femme just stared, said nothing.
What did hail from mean? Kiros poked one eye open, finding he could easily redirect his gaze wherever he wanted. Xan appeared to have vanished, if only momentarily.
"I don't believe I understand."
He's not very hospitable, is he? Staring at you like the scum you are! ---------- "Hail?" He paused realizing the other couldn't decipher his vocabulary. "It means where you come from, so my question is ‘Where do you come from?’" He took a longer pause and waited for an answer from either one of them. Maybe he was wrong about the other being dangerous. Perhaps he was just nervous because he himself had put on quite a show of dominance.
"I’m sorry bout eailer." He lowered his stance. "It’s just I’ll do anything to protect my friends." He blinked again but continued to stand rooted to his location. ---------- Whisper looked away, finding that her gaze very well might have been rude or nerve-racking in a way to the other. She knew she had never really liked being stared at, so she looked away to avoid being a hypocrite. Her gaze fell away from the other wolf and simply landed on a random blade of grass.
Yet still the female said nothing. ---------- Now Kiros understood. It was simple, why didn't he guess. Perhaps he was too afraid of messing up and being snapped at by Xan, so he simply asked. He lifted his head, rotated an ear forwards and attempted to wag his tail weakly at the other.
"No harm done. I come from near here, been here much of my life. What about you?" ---------- "My pack is close to these parts..." His tailed flicked in the general direction where he and River seamed to drift. "Though I'm surprized if you live by hear you havn't heard of them." He shrugged. "No bother though if you havn't- I'm sure my mate be more then happy to show you around if you like." His mouth spread into a large toothy smile. Pausing he turned back towards his friend that seamed to be cowering at his feet. Something was wrong with her as well. "Whisper- are you okie?" Prehaps something bad happened between her and Fute. That'd be awful being he knew how much she loved him. ---------- "Fine," she murmured, still slightly confused. Why did this male know her name and talk to her like they had known each other since the beginning of time? It simply didn't make sense.
Her headache came back again, and she winced, ears falling back against her skull slightly. Whining to herself, she staggered to her paws and stumbled a few feet away from the two males. The feeling here was tense, and it made her too uncomfortable for her own good. She decided she needed to get away from them.
Shaking her head to attempt to clear it, she blinked and looked at the two. "Please.. uhm.. forgive me." Her voice wavered and she lowered her head in shame. Why was she so shakey? ---------- Kiros nodded his head gratefully. It was always good to be on high relations with the pack alpha of the land you lived in. Though he wasn't sure he'd stay for much longer. Lately there had been a constant nagging for him to travel.
When the female wolf suddenly stumbled away Kiros' natural instinct to help kicked in. His body went from being regid, tense, and frightful, to alert and astute. He rushed over the the femme's side, his two seperate colored eyes scanning her for the source of the problem.
She seemed to be having trouble seeing.
"No, no. Its quite alright. What seems to be the problem?"
You sly dog, going after the weak. Shame shame, I've had to much influence on you. Sush. I'm only helping. Well that's even worse. You must always take advantage of such situations. ---------- Diego felt ashamed that he wasn't the first one to Whisper's side but moved as quickly as he could to get there. His own split eyes seamed to dance over her body with careful procesion. "I think-" After quite a few seconds. "That we are crouding her..." He squinted stepping back a few feet. He'd almost forgotten that Whisper never really liked crouds.
"Though I still wonder-" He blinked turning towards Kiros. "Why she has no memories..." ---------- Whisper shook her head again, but it didn't help the pain any. In fact, it actually hurt more than anything, which wasn't what she had intended. Suddenly her eyes clouded, her vision blurred. She saw two figured rushing towards her, and immediately she panicked.
"Get back!" she yelped, stumbling back, away from them. But then she realized who they were, and she coughed. "I'm sorry.. my head.. it just.."
Another pain surged through her skull and she seemed to keel over, though she managed to remain on her paws. Her nose, however, almost touched the ground as she shut her eyes tight in a wince. The motion revealed a rather ugly bruise on the back of her head from where she was hit by the rocks.
Suddenly she plopped down onto her belly, the pain too much to handle. ---------- Kiros nearly toppled over as he tried to skid to a stop when Whisper yelled. Xan laughed at his folly, making his head hurt. But there was no time for dealing with pain, the wolf wasn't getting any better and she seemed to be taking a turn for the worst. His eyes darted from left to right, looking for any other wolves before he sprung into action.
He lifted off with his forefeet only and pawed at the string that was around his neck, shaking his head vigourously. It slid a little ways and then stuck behind his ears. Growling at it Kiros made another attempt at its removal, this time successful.
What do you do with that bag anyway?
Not pausing to answer Xan he set his teeth to work on the sinew. Wiggling it back and forth as rapidly as he could without damaging it. Two paws were firmly planted on the outer strings to keep the bag from shifting. At last he was rewarded as the leater pouch folded open, herbs and various oddities spilling out.
XAN! Which kills the pain!? I don't remember!!
Hah! I'm not telling you, silly wolf. You'd be lucky if the one I did tell you wasn't poison.----------

Kealdra Arrikanez x Tamiko-chan Kara x Whisper Extremely bad headaches.
The things seemed to plague the green female for months now. What had brought on this random surge of pain? Having hit her head, she didn't remember much beyond her puppyhood back with her parents. But why? There was a vague memory in the back of her mind that told her something had happened, but she simply couldn't figure out what.
Thinking that it was simply too much of a hassle, Whisper shook her head and tried to make the headache go away. Perhaps it was the heat that brought on these things? Thinking it might be so, she changed directions and headed towards the nearest river. And, like always, she wasn't exactly paying attention to her surroundings.
Coming upon the river, she glanced down at her reflection. She tilted her head slightly to the left. A moment later she shrugged, and simply lowered her head to take a refreshing drink.
Feeling refreshed, Whisp sighed then sank down to her belly. Life was so dull...---------- Kara, it seemed, was always in or around some kind of river. Even her packlands ran amuck with the things, being completely surrounded by the rushing waters. So, of course, it would have been no suprise to find that she was wading in the very river in which Whisper had come to take her drink.
She, of course, had been paying attention to her surroundings, and therefore would have seen the female approaching. Or would have anyway, if she hadn't stuck her head underneath the surface in persuit of a fish no bigger than a guppy. Don't ask why she felt the need to humilate herself in river's, but apparently it was the think to do.
So losing her footing she fell on her side in the river with a loud. Sploosh!
Needless to say the fish flopped it merry way down the river and out of sight, with a wet Kara peering longingly after it.
It was about this time she thought to notice others that just might have encroached upon her little stream of humiliation. That which she spotted was green female.
Kara was no little wolf, by any means. She rivaled easily even the tallest of male wolves, but she was far less heavily built. Her complexion was thin, but strong, not that it much pertains to her ecounter with Whisper. Or perhaps her size would be in effect?---------- Despite all the splashing and whatnot, Whisper still didn't seem to notice that there was another wolf in the area. She was actually going deaf and there were certain times she couldn't hear herself breath, and of course that never went down well. So it probably wasn't so surprising that she missed the fact that there was another wolf so close. And there was no scent given to her, for the wind was blowing the wrong way.
And so she lay there, oblivious to all but her own thoughts--which, by the way, weren't all that pleasant. And it all didn't matter anyways, for she soon grew thirsty again and so turned to take another drink from the river.
That was when she spotted Kara, a rather large wolf when compared with Whisp, who was actually the runt of her litter, therefore small, and she was thin because of her bad eating habits. So when she spotted the other female looking straight at her, she couldn't help but cower back in fear. It was her way of doing things
She only hoped it would work and she'd get out of this unharmed.---------- Kara was absolutely astounded by the other wolf's reaction. Oh sure, she might be scary, but she didn't look scary? Was her height really that much of a problem? Of course it wasn't! Well. . . . maybe it was. Best not be large to not scare the other.
So Kara did her absolute best to cower down low and slink her way along. She looked rather commical doing so. Any looking at her might break out in laughter and go rolling about the floor. It was just to strange of a sight to see a wolf try and shrink itself.
Especially while walking in water. She took one, no two steps before falling flat on her face.---------- Whisper was used to others being at least a bit threatening to her, so when the other actually cowered as well... it was really something new to her and she wasn't quite sure what to think of it. A large wolf like that didn't seem like it was supposed to shrink down the way Kara did.
But she didn't think about it much longer, as right after that the other fell flat onto her face. Perking her ears slightly in surprise, Whisp forgot her fear and let her kindness towards all wolves come out. Without a second thought, she rushed towards the other's side.
"Are you alright?" she mumbled, crawling closer but still staying away at a respectful distance.---------- Kara came up sputtering and coughing, and laughing all at the same time. Her laugh was probably one of the strangest things another person would ever hear. Mostly because of the mere fact that wolves just weren't supposed to laugh.
"I'm fine," she said through breaths of air, crawling her way out of the river and onto shore.
She couldn't say she fell into water often, she normally just waded in it, but she seemed to be more and more clumsy as of late. Then again, what wolf wouldn't be clumsy while trying to walk on water?
She seemed completely oblivious as to any fact that she might be frightening the other.
"What brings a wolf such as yourself all the way out here?" she questioned.---------- Whisper was calmed a little when the other didn't seem aggressive or anything, and so gave a small smile. It made her feel better when Kara seemed to be fine.
"Good.. that's good," she murmured, mostly to herself. For some reason she was simply insecure and not at all confident, so when things happened, especially bad things, she always thought that they were all her fault. So it was relieving to see that this time nothing bad had come out of it. Or at least not yet.
"What's that?" she asked, perking her ears forward a little bit. Yep, she was definitely going deaf. "Oh.. I'm just wandering." A pause. "Aaaah... wolf like me?" she asked, blinking slightly and tilting her head as she moved out of the water and onto the bank next to Kara. What did she mean by that?
Settling down on her haunches, Whisp perked her ears and tried to pay attention. She didn't want to seem rude simply because she had trouble hearing.---------- Kara wagged her tail and set about to clean her now matted fur which insisted on going about fourty different directions. It was out to get her, she was sure of this.
"Wandering eh?" she said, not bothering to look up. "What have you got to wander from?" Most wolves settled down, even she had her own place as a loner, even if she was an Alpha now.
"Wolf like you. .. " she had trouble decdiding exactly what she had meant by that statement. "I don't know. Figure of speech I guess," she ultimately decided, looking towards the sky. She then promptly went back to organizing her hellious fur.
"You have a pack?"---------- Wandering from? Did all wanderers have to be wandering away from someone? Thinking for a moment, Whisper looked down at her paws. Was she wandering away from something? Perhaps she was, but she couldn't remember anything. Nothing beyond that day...
Shaking her head, she cleared away all of her bad thoughts. "Nothing, I don't think. I'm just wandering, is all. Aah... no, I don't think I've had a pack since my birth one.."
Had she had a pack since then? Why couldn't she remember anything? Another headache suddenly came on and she shut her eyes in a wince, allowing herself to sink down to her belly. She curled her paws up against her chest as she watched the ground.
That horrible day...---------- "You think?" Kara asked furrowing a brow. She was quite confused as to this. How could one not remember? This was very strange indeed.
Then she saw the wolf curl up and cringe and worry crossed her forhead. "Are you okay?"
Her tail thumped nervously on the ground, eyes watching this other wolf, not wanting to get to close in case she was temperamental.---------- "Y-yeah, I think," she responded, though it was rather rough in the tone due to the immense pain from her headache. "I..." she began, but cut herself off as another surge of pain attacked her skull.
"I'm fine," she lied, opening her eyes reluctantly to peer at Kara. "I just have a bad headache, is all." Why were they happening so frequently? Whisp was beginning to think that perhaps it wasn't the heat that was making these things happen. If they were so much like this, then it had to be something else. And there wasn't as much heat in the night time, and yet her headaches still came then. It had to be something else.
"I don't know why they happen. I have this faint memory, but I can't really think about it or place it."---------- Kara never got headaches, so the word did not make any sense to her in any way whatsoever. She knew the word ache and she knew the word head, so she stuck the two together and managed some semblence of what it might be.
"How do you get an ache in your head?" she wonderded outloud. This was very strange.
"Faint Memory? You can't remember something, then?" This was all very intriguing. Something the female had never heard of before. Brain loss as one would call it, but she wouldn't know to call it that.---------- "I'm not sure how or why it happens, but that's what it is," she replied, glancing down a the ground and wincing again slightly due to another wave of pain.
"Aah.. yeah, more like I can't remember most of my life," she admitted, folding her ears back against her skull in embarassment, like it was some sort of crime to have forgotten something. Sighing, she rested her head on the ground and simply lay there. It didn't feel good, these headaches and the knowledge that she couldn't remember half of her life.---------- Se cocked her head to the side and furrowed her brows again. Still not quite getting this 'head ache' thing.
Then the next statement came from the other wolf. This intrigued Kara even more. "Most of your life?" came the baffled response.
"How did it happen?" she questioned again. Something caught her attention and she realized that soon she must take her leave. The pack members would be waiting.---------- Whisper sighed again, glancing up at the other. "I don't know how it happened. That's the memory that I can't really seem to figure out. It's there, but I just can't see it. If that even makes any sense." It didn't really in her mind, but that didn't matter. It was pained anyways, so it wasn't like she could think straight.
Unaware to the fact that this female might have other things, more important things, to worry about, she shook her head and flicked her tail slightly.
"Anyways, it doesn't matter. I'm Whisper."---------- It made absolutely no sense to Kara at all, but most things never did make any sense to her. Wolves confused her time and time again with their rantings. She was smart, but not that smart and so she could not cimprehend what this female had told her.
"No, not really," she admitted, shaking her head. To much of this and it might give her a headache.
She didn't see how it couldn't matter, losing half your life like that. "Kara," she said. Then added, "My pack mates are waiting for me. I must be going."
She rose to go, but before she did. "Did you ever run anyone that said they knew you, but you couldn't remember them? Perhaps you should ask them of your past."---------- Whisper shook her head then looked off to the side. Of course, nothing she said ever made sense. She didn't even think that her life made sense anymore. Then, when Kara introduced herself and said that her packmates would be waiting, she merely nodded.
"Nice to meet you Kara," she said, then simply lay there. Her ears perked slightly, though when she talked about running into someone who remembered her but she didn't remember them. Perhaps that would work, but who was to say that whoever knew her before would be anywhere around here?
"Yes, of course. Thank you," she murmured, resting her head on her paws and simply staring ahead. "Sorry to have bothered you."

Avariella x Hallie A lone puppy wandered through the forest, not really seeming like she knew where she was going. And the truth was, she didn't actually know where she was going. She knew she had to find her sister, Cassidy, but her mother hadn't been too specific with the details on where Cass might be, which then left a confused Hallie wandering some strange forests. Hopefully, she didn't trepsass anywhere and get eaten. That would be a waste.
Lost but not discouraged, she continued on, her paws lifting and falling in a sort of rhythm. As she went along, she began to wonder if maybe this place didn't have any wolves at all. The only scents were stale and most faded. It seemed deserted almost, and that sent a short chill up her small spine.
"Mama said to go south.. a little over some mountains... I did that, didn't I?" she said aloud, glancing to and fro. Okay, this wasn't good. She was talking to herself. How odd.
"Hello?" she called, stopping suddenly to glance all around her. This place really did look deserted...
Nonetheless, she didn't give up. She was given a task by her mother and there was no way she was going to fail. She would find Cassidy eventually, even if she had to trek all over the world! She would succeed. Hallie continued to tell herself this as she started walking again, ears flicking this way and that to catch all the sounds.
Out of no where, she heard the sound of lapping water. Tail wagging, she yipped then nearly bounced in the direction the sound came from. Water! Boy was she thirsty!
Moving quickly, she soon came upon a rather small river. But that didn't matter, it was water! Thrilled, she jumped over towards the water and bent her head down to lap at the water. The cool liquid felt good in her throat and filled her with new energy. Now, to look for Cassidy...---------- Ava stretched, yawned, and smiled to herself. Finally, she was rested. It had taken long enough, after one brief scuffle had interrupted her and kept her up with her irritation, she had finally found some time to sleep. She sat up and rubbed her side against a tree, scratching an itch. Satisfied, she stood and found herself feeling totally revitalized.
Well, not totally. She could use a drink.
In an unusually happy mood, she trotted through the woods, seeking out the river she had passed some time ago. It wasn't very big but it was plenty big enough to get a good drink from. She soon found herself on its banks and plunged her muzzle into it without another thought. She lapped eagerly, satisfying her need for hydration. Lips dripping, she lapped up the last few drops from her face and picked her head up high, restoring her dignity over the desperation previously seen.
That's when she noticed the pup, and she froze up a little at the sight of her. Avariella was not at all accustomed to dealing with children, and she couldn't help but feel a little awkward. In fact, she couldn't even recall the last time she'd see one. She stared at her for a while, then finally, after an awkward silence, she cleared her throat and inquired, "Um... where are your parents, kid?" The pup's parents really ought to be around; it wasn't safe to let a young child wander the woods by herself. Ava hoped she could unload the kid on her parents fast, because though Ava may be antisocial and loathe the company of others, she couldn't stand the thought of leaving the girl alone and she didn't want to have to be responsible for looking after her. She wasn't hers to babysit, Ava thought begrudgingly.---------- The sight of another wolf so soon rather startled the young female. She had thought this place to be deserted, for there to be no other wolves around. She had thought she'd have to venture further into these lands to find any signs of life. Yet here was this fully grown wolf right in front of her, asking her where her parents were.
Narrowing her eyes with a silly look on her face, Hallie plopped down onto her bottom and merely shrugged. "They're back home. I'm here to find my sister," she said simply, glancing up at the older female. "Where are you parents?" she asked jokingly, feeling like today was a good day and that it should be lived moment by moment. Yet this wolf in front of her didn't exactly look like she was having fun.
First off, she had randomly stared at Hallie as if she were some sort of alien creature. Had she never seen a pup before? Secondly, she seemed almost edgy, as if she didn't really want to deal with a pup right now.
"I'm sorry, did I bother you?" she asked after thinking over all of those things.---------- Judging how surprised this pup seemed to be at seeing someone else, Ava knew for certain that this pup shouldn't be out on her own. She wasn't ready for anything. Ava shook her head at this. "Couldn't your parents have helped you find your sister?" she inquired impatiently.
Then the child asked about Ava's parents. It was an innocent question, but Ava didn't care. She hated being asked about her parents. She hated it. She scowled at the pup and snapped, quite bluntly, "My parents are dead." She grunted now and hunched her shoulders, almost defensively. She didn't even like to think of her parents.
But then the pup asked if she'd bothered her, and she felt guilty for being short with her. She sighed, heavy, and muttered, "No, not really, just... your parents really shouldn't have sent you off all alone. It's foolish. It's dangerous for a young pup to be alone." She gave little Hallie a sideways glance. "You're lucky, you know," she announced. "If you had run into some other wolf, they could've killed you."---------- She frowned slightly when the other said that her parents were dead. Immediately, she regretted making that little joke. But it wasn't like she would have known anyways, so she figured it wasn't entirely her fault.
"Oh.. well, I'm sorry about that," she murmured sincerely.
But now it was Hallie's turn to be short. More than anything, she hated to be looked down upon simply because she was a pup. What did it mean anyways? Sure, she was smaller and not as strong as some others, but she was still capable! Her mother wouldn't have sent her out if she wasn't. It wasn't like Jenna, her mother, was stupid or anything. Jenna ruled a pack! She had good judgement for sure.
"Just because I'm a pup doesn't mean that I can't take care of myself," she snapped back, moving to stand on her paws while her fur bristled. "My mother wouldn't have sent me out if she hadn't thought that I could handle it."---------- Avariella flicked a paw, waving off the subject of her parents. "No no no," she said quickly. "No appologies. It's okay. I just... try to forget about my parents, usually." She shrugged, trying to pretend like she'd never been upset at all. "No big deal." She knew the kid didn't mean it, anyway. She faltered a little now, ears flicking back. She'd been right--she really didn't know how to deal with pups.
And then the pup snapped at her, and Ava leaned back from her, startled. Almost at once, though, she leaned back in even closer, narrowed her eyes, and said, "You watch your tone with me, young lady. You ought to respect your elders." Then she sat back up, straight, and suddenly... grinned. She was amused. That tenacity... it reminded Avariella of herself when she was a kid. She had never taken crap from anybody... so why should she expect this kid to take her own crap? "Alright, alright," Ava ammended, "So you can take care of yourself. I believe you." She moved in a little closer to the pup, trying to keep friendly. This kid wasn't like most of the adults Ava had had to deal with... Ava found herself actually liking this kid. "You got a name, kiddo?" she asked.---------- Hallie's anger stayed for about a few seconds, but then it faded when the older female sort of apologized. Well, that was definitely different. Normally adults didn't see their mistakes that easily. Mostly, they just believed that they were right simply because they were older and bigger. But this one... she was different and she found that she could probably like her.
Smiling, the pup shifted around slightly then sat back down as the adult seemed to move closer. She didn't know what was really on the other's mind, but for now she simply ignored it. What could possibly be wrong with an adult that realized her mistakes and saw that a pup could take care of herself?
"My name's Hallie," she replied, wagging her tail and letting her tongue loll out of her mouth in a pant. "What about you?" she then asked, glancing up at Avariella. "And don't call me kiddo... it makes you sound old," she laughed, flopping onto her side and flailing her paws a little bit. "Call me Hal if you want, or Hallie. It doesn't really matter." No one had really called her Hal, but she thought it would be nice to have some sort of change. Besides, she had always wanted to have a nickname of some sort.
Yep, today was a good day.----------

Werewolf x Tamiko-chan Amélie x Ophelia x Echo It had been about two days since they, her sister and she, had ventured into these lands and found a den. Their den wasn't much, pretty much just a shabby hole at this point, but Echo knew that at some point they'd make it better. If they were to stay here, they would most definitely work on the den. But for now...
She came out of the den slowly, her tail cricking with uncertainty. But after a few moments she was all fine and dandy, stretching out her tired limbs and attempting to clear her head of its morning drowsiness.
Once she was done stretching and everything, the runt craned her neck around to peer back into the den she had just come out of. Laying in there, somewhere in the darkness, was her twin sister, Ophelia. Smiling, Echo turned her head back around to simply look around the forest. Things had been going rather well these past few days, and she was glad with the outcome.
Sighing with contentment, she merely sat there listening to the forest around her. Things seemed good at the moment.---------- Nothing had happened to possibly suggest to Ophelia that something wrong was happening. In fact, other then the strange encounter with the alpha, Phib, she had otherwise learned to deal with the odd lands. They smelt too much of salt, but they were a lovely mixture of wind and warmth, and even Ophelia had to admit the food was plentiful. But it was not enough to stop her from pulling her fur out.
It was a strange, nervous habit she’d started to acquire. For now, she took it mostly from her hips in small faint tugs as she vented her nerves. What would they expect from this place?
Outside the den she heard Echo shift, and not wanting to appear as nervous as she was, Ophelia slowly strolled out into the sunlight, the faint shadowed pattern of wolves stroking her ears and shoulders. "Good morning Echo." Ophelia murmured pleasantly, but there was an oddly nervous squint to her eyes.
Elsewhere, a small female was returning from her walk on the beach. It had been a somewhat lonely walk- most of the pack seemed busy elsewhere at the time, and Phib, exhausted from some event or another had been asleep for half the day. She had not spoken to him yet, but from the faint inklings she had received from him, she would not like the news he brought.
Troubled as to what it might have been, Amélie slowly moved through the brush. Perhaps she’d visit Ryukkii. An odd thing to think about- but, she liked talking with her sister, even if it usually ended with bickering. Phib certainly would not like it, that was for sure. But before she made up her mind one way or another, the seer became faintly aware of a different kind of mind pull- somewhere to the left of her. Blindly she moved across the leaves and dew-wet atmosphere of the early morning, until she came upon a rather new den.
A female stood out in front of them- and from the faint pattern of her mind, Amélie couldn’t help but feel she had met the other before. "Good morning loves." She called pleasantly, and swayed the end of her tail.
Somewhat irritably, Ophelia hmphed from behind Echo.---------- Echo had noticed a little that her sister had began to do something with her fur, but for the most part she remained silent about it all. She thought that if she tried to ask, things might just get worse. She knew already that Ophelia wasn't exactly happy with the way things had been going lately, and she didn't want to make things worse by prodding into something that probably didn't mean much at all.
So when her twin came out of the den and murmured a greeting, the smaller wolf simply smiled.
"Good morning, sister," she whispered, tail flicking back and forth slightly to show her delight in having her sister by her side again. Things were always better when they were side-by-side, together with one another. Echo couldn't think to have things any other way.
But when Amélie approached the pair, all concentration was lost to her. Something fizzed in her mind and she whined slightly, ears folding back. She recognized this female. This was that one wolf that couldn't see and yet knew exactly where she was standing somehow. This was that wolf she had randomly run into in the freelands whe she had first run away from her parents.
"Sister.." she mumbled, unable to take her eyes off of the seer. "I've seen this wolf before."---------- Ophelia turned her head towards the other wolf, and narrowed her expression. A wolf from this pack? She was however, somewhat relieved to know that Echo knew of this one...if, however, that was a good thing. "Is that a good thing?" Ophelia thought to Echo, blinking slowly. Well? Would it be?
But luckily enough, this female didn’t seem too intimidating at all. She was Echo’s size, if not smaller, and had a strange frail look about her. Was she...blind?
As the two sisters spoke to themselves, a small smile across about Amélie’s muzzle. Yes! She had met this one before. The little one who spoke only in her mind. Her sister, too, could speak to her! Amélie’s occasions of meeting wolves with telepathy were few and...well, never. So, she took the occasion up immediately, and began to stroll a bit closer.
"Yes, I remember you." Amélie smiled, her tail wagging. "I am Amélie-"
Ophelia arched her brow, and eyed the other female. Odd...but, she chalked it up to coincidence. It wasn’t like the other could hear Echo. ---------- Echo froze when the other small female grew closer and seemed to speak words that went well with what she and her twin had been murmuring about in their brains. For a moment she had a momentary remembrance. This female... she could...
But then it was gone. Frowning, she tilted her head slightly at the seer. "Amélie..." she repeated, glancing at her paws for a moment. It didn't sound at all familiar, yet she remembered seeing this wolf somewhere. Had they not formally introduced themselves to one another? They had met somewhat around the time that Echo had run from her parents...
Thinking back again, she remembered something vaguely about her being scared and possibly running away. Was that what had happened? It would explain about her lack of knowledge concerning Ame. And it would make sense, being as she was terrified about her parents and all.
"Ophelia... you don't think..?" she whispered in her brain, glancing off to the side and at her sister. How else would this new female's words fit in with their whisperings?---------- Ophelia jerked somewhat to even consider that sort of possibility. What kind of wolf could read another’s mind? She eyed the female standing in front of them, and slightly leaned against Echo. "No, I’m sure she can’t. That doesn’t make any sense." Well- neither did they, but they’d had a lot of practice.
With a slightly awkward chuckle, Amélie turned her head. Oh, it hurt sometimes. As it was, Amélie tried hard to never reveal herself as a seer. Too many things happened when she did. But at this particular moment, she felt strangely tempted. Shyly, she strolled forward, the end of her tail gently bobbing.
"Um..." The seer mouthed, cocking her head to the left. She blushed somewhat, as much as a wolf could, and glanced away. "...well...I can- I spoke to you before, yes?"---------- Echo, however, wasn't so convinced. There were a lot of things in the world that didn't make sense. Their parents' motive towards their offspring, the way Logan randomly appeared and was kind to them like this, that alpha and the way he acted the way he did even when Ophelia opposed him. So many things that didn't make sense in their life, what was one more thing going to do?
"I don't know, sister. I have a feeling..."
Glancing back at the other small female, she became quite confused. So Ame remembered her also, but then, they didn't exactly speak to one another. She didn't, after all, know the seer's name. And she was pretty confident it was the same way for the other.
"Before..." she tried to say, but it simply didn't come out right.
To her sister, she sighed and whispered again. "I've seen her before, but I didn't know her name until she said it just now."---------- A shiver curled up her spine, and Ophelia locked eyes with the blinded female. Something which was a bit difficult, as Amélie’s eyes shifted from place to place with about as much purpose as a snowflake. Ophelia had to admit- she didn’t get it. Did Echo meet her or not? And yet they had said nothing to her, and still the other was speaking as though they had.
"Do you know my sister?" Ophelia spoke sharply to the grey creature, who seemed to tremble at the sound of Ophelia’s sharp voice. A tremble...she’d never seen her voice inflict that kind of reaction, and in her surprise she took a few steps back behind Echo. Amélie smiled meekly, and wriggled her tail. "Yes, I do- we met before." She remembered it well. It was the day that she had heard China Blue’s calling. "Echo." Amélie replied. "You are the little girl who picks her words carefully." Now- that might have been an overstatement, but, perhaps accurate.---------- Echo tilted her head slightly when the other said that she knew her and even knew her name. It was strange... she didn't remember telling this female her name, and yet she knew it. There was something very strange going on here, and it was beginning to frighten her.
Trembling slightly, she pressed herself firmly against her twin for comfort. Her brain fizzed again as she searched the female, her eyes flicking back and forth in uncertainty.
"Echo," she repeated, nodding her head slightly even though the seer wouldn't be able to see it. "Words..." she whispered, lowering her head slightly. Her curse always made her feel so... what was the word? It made her feel insignifigant almost, like she wasn't normal and never would be.
"Sister.. I feel something, in my mind," she said softly, glancing over towards her twin again. "It's like a sort of fizz. Do you feel it too?"
Looking back towards the gray female, Echo let her ears flick this way and that. She really didn't know what to do about this female. She was simply strange, but then not so strange where she was scary and where she'd be something to run away from. It was all just complicated.---------- Amélie frowned, feeling a prickling at her spine. Oh dear- it wouldn’t do to scare the poor girls away. But now she had been too enthusiastic- she had to say something. But what could she say without causing the girls more trouble? Just by being near them she was having faint flashes- overbearing parents, a strange male-... "I-" Amélie spoke, her eyes lowering.
To Echo, Ophelia turned whispered quietly. "No...Echo, I can’t feel it." She didn’t understand what Echo felt, but if this other wolf was indeed psychic, perhaps it was because of Echo’s mental ability. She had long believed it was Echo that was the source of their connection. Ophelia could never speak to her on her own accord- Echo first had to open the door. And now, this wolf was interfering.
"I’m sorry." Amélie spoke, and shook her head. "Please, do not be bothered, yes? The noise will go away, I’ll not prod further. But I’ll not lie loves- I can hear you fine."---------- The runt stiffened slightly when she was told by her sister that she was the only one who could feel the fizz in her brain. It didn't help when the seer mentioned something about prodding and somehow seeming to know when it would stop and go away. Then she said that she could hear them just fine. Did that mean with her ears or...?
Her eyes widened slightly as she gaped at the other female. It couldn't be! She had thought she felt something in her brain, but she had thought that perhaps it was merely a feeling, caused maybe by some emotion that went bad in her or something. She wasn't sure of it. But this new wolf's words sort of chased away any uncertainty she had about it all.
"So.." she began, taking a hesitant step forward. "Can you hear me right now?" she asked, tilting her head slightly in a questioning manner.
She didn't care about anything else at this point, like the prodding and such. It was just amazing to hear that someone else could possibly hear her.---------- Encouragingly, Amélie’s tail wagged slowly. "Yes, I can hear you Echo." Her voice was ginger in its smoothness, hoping that the revelation would not be too horrifying for Echo. She could feel a kind of attachment to the other female. She was a gentle creature, despite the scars that were riddled across her body. She shared quite a few of her own scars as well.
All of this was a bit too much for Ophelia. She stumbled a bit to side, and curled around Echo from the back, peering at Amélie from where she now stood. What was this girl? Was everyone in this pack so damn mysterious?
"I’m sorry if I’ve startled you." Amélie spoke again gently, and for some reason, Ophelia knew she was being spoken to. Opehlia furrowed her brow and took a step forward, slowly considering. "What are you?"---------- Some wolves might have been horrified to hear that some stranger could hear their thoughts. But not Echo, not this wolf. She was actually delighted that someone else could hear her thoughts. Having no way to really talk on her own for all of her life, it was a relief to know that she wasn't as confined as she once thought. Not only could she speak freely to her sister, but to this kind female as well.
Smiling, she sat there with her tail wagging back and forth slightly. She now held no fear for this female, and actually felt a sort of connection, simply due to the fact that they could speak with their minds.
Though, she thought, this Amélie's mental connection must be stronger. That was probably the fizz that she had heard and felt. Echo had only been used to her sister's sort of weak connection, but this seer's connection was so great that it caused a slight disturbance in her mind. It all made sense, and she was glad to finally get these things sorted out.
The smile still upon her face, she glanced back at her sister as she asked the other what on earth she was. For some reason, the runt knew the answer.
"She's a seer." She had to be. How else would she be able to listen in on the twins' silent words?---------- Being a seer was something she rarely owned up to, but with Echo, she felt an excited fluttering in her chest- perhaps a leftover from the other female’s own excitement. How often was it that her gift was so readily accepted? A grin stretched across her face, and with a soft and affectionate whine, the small female trotteted closer to the other females. "I am." She spoke softly, her deadened eyes brightened with the feelings.
A seer? Ophelia had never heard of such a thing, except in faint pup-tales. She had never thought something like that might have existed. Although with some afterthought, she admitted she probably wouldn’t have believed the bond between the twins either. And yet it was. Perhaps this female existed like that.
"Amélie..." Ophelia repeated, remembering the name. "...Do you live here?" She questioned slowly, her yellow eyes sharp.
Amélie smiled, and gently nodded her head. "I do. My mate runs this area. But I am just Amélie."
Her mate...Phib? She had to admit, she was not what she expected in the black male’s choice of women. Surely he would have been able to get someone else? Maybe he was attracted to the fact she was a seer...? ---------- Echo felt a sort of puppy excitement run through her mind and body. It was just that pleasing to her that finally, after all of her life of only being able to really talk to one wolf and one wolf alone, there was someone else who could hear her. It just made her overjoyed. She couldn't have been happier at that moment when she learned that this new female could hear her thoughts.
Her tail now wagging back and forth uncontrollably, the runt moved closer to Ame, almost touching noses with the other. Whining like a little puppy, she smiled then slowly began to sniff her face. After a moment or two of this, she first tugged on the seer's ear then giggled and nudged her playfully with a wet nose.
"Ophelia... she can hear me!" she said excitedly, stopping in her puppy antics for a moment to glance over at her sister.
"Your mate?" she then asked, turning her gaze back on Amélie. "Is he big, with some scars on him, black too?" she asked. Though, she wondered, had this wolf ever seen her mate? She was blind, but had she always been that way? Hopefully not, otherwise Echo would feel simply terrible.---------- Delight flooded across Amélie as the other female greeted, her, and she returned the favor with equal childish enthusiasm. She couldn’t decide what was more thrilling- the fact that Echo could speak to another person now, or that she had finally done some good in being a seer. She had begun to wonder, if perhaps her abilities chaos-theoried things into being worse then they needed to be. But now, at least, the bad thoughts fell away.
Even Ophelia seemed happy. Although she didn’t return the puppy excitement either of them gave, she smiled wearily from the mouth of the den. A more clingy sister might have been jealous- but Ophelia knew how hard it had been for Echo, communicating to others only through repeated phrases. It was too bad this Logan fellow of hers did not share the same connection to her...
Once Echo pulled away and started to ‘speak’ again, she noted that her comment was somewhat withdrawn after the omega took into consideration the other female’s blindness. Amélie grinned, and was quick to attempt to dismiss. "So I remember him being." Amélie gleamed. "Although- I assume he’s a bit greyer now," she added with a touch of mischief.
Ophelia shook her head. "I can’t say you look much like an alpha."
To that Amélie simply giggled and shook her head. "I don’t think I can be saying that much either, love. I’m not. Just Amélie."---------- Echo simply couldn't help herself. It was just too good, finally finding someone else who could hear her thoughts and actually speak to her. So with her tail still wagging, she giggled again then promptly sat down, raising her right forpaw to sort of touch the other female's nose for a moment. Grinning, she let her paw fall back to the ground as she nuzzled Ame one more time before getting up and bouncing back towards her twin.
"Isn't it great, sister?" she asked, sort of 'bowing' down and letting her rump go up into the air while her tail wagging repeatedly back and forth.
Standing back up properly, the small female perked her ears and glanced towards the seer again. "Yes, he was a bit gray," she laughed, sitting down again and calming down a little bit from her puppy excitement. She didn't, however, mention anything to this wolf about how her mate had scared the living daylights out of her. She figured that be best left as a secret.
"So you are his mate, but not the alpha female?" she asked, tilting her head slightly. That was strange. Weren't the leaders normall mates? "Is there a female ruling with him?"---------- "Hehe. He’s very self conscious about that."
Amélie thought that question over carefully. Was there another female to contend with Phib’s rule? Anya looked like a likely candidate, but there were times when she seemed too silent. Mozelle would have made an excellent choice, but she had a feeling Mozelle had tired of the leadership role. Audi certainly ran Phib through circles, but her desires were aimed at leaving as soon as Ran and Tahara cleared out rather then doing anything with the group.
"At the moment, no, I am thinking." Amélie admitted. "There are some candidates, but no one has stepped forward yet to try at such a role. It’ll come though, I do not doubt."---------- Echo giggled, rather child-like, when Ame admitted that Phib was rather self-conscious about having gray on his otherwise jet fur. She understood it somewhat. Her parents weren't happy with the fact that their own fur was graying. She supposed adults didn't like getting older when it involved new colors like gray in their fur.
When the seer answered the question about a female leader, she was rather stumped. Was it possible for there to be only one alpha leading a pack? How big was this pack anyways? She had only met this Ame, Logan, Phib, and Malik. But Phib had mentioned another wolf, and there were probably loads of others too. And there was only one wolf leading it all?
Shrugging, she merely decided that it must just work with this pack. "Well that's interesting. I've never known a pack could be run with only one leader," she admitted.
"So... you think someone will take it eventually? What will happen then?" She pondered over this. Would Ame be cast aside for some female that was willing to take the lead with Phib? She hoped that wouldn't be so. It'd be terrible for the seer.
Yet then she got distracted thinking about the members of the pack again. "Do you know Logan?" she asked, mostly out of the blue.---------- Amelie nodded her head. "I think it’s the manner of all things for life to be rearranging itself. Someday a female will take charge- but, she won’t be me." She smiled respectfully. She was not a jealous girl, although she was somewhat shy to the idea of another female rivaling Phib’s rule. Phib let her get away with a lot, despite the general consensus that he controlled everything she did. An alpha female might not be so forgiving. And her worse fear- she might see Amelie as an obstacle in taming Phib down.
But, that was some mystery woman. She could not see Anya, or any of the other females in the pack behaving in such a way. "I know him, but not formally." The small female noted. She knew most wolves in the pack- whether they knew it or not. "It’s a large pack, and I do sometimes get lost in it. We’re numbering thirty, I hear. Phib is a good man, despite what he might want people to be thinking. He can manage people well."---------- Echo merely nodded to it all about a female possibly taking over one day. It was probably natural for someone to come forward at some point in time or another, but she wondered just how Ame would feel about it. She couldn't say from wisdom or experience, but she figured that it might be a bit depressing for one to simply stand by and watch one's mate work so closely with another.
But, that was for later, she supposed. There was no use worrying or whatever else about it all now.
Then, when she got to talking about Logan, she couldn't help but notice that her heart skipped a beat at the mention of his name. What was that? Her stomach tightened a little and she flicked her ears back nervously. What was this feeling?
Attempting to get around it and make herself forget, the omega merely shook her head and forced a smile. Her expression, however, faded into one of surprise when the number count of the pack was revealed. "That many?" she asked, barely able to hide her shock. That was quite a lot of wolves. Perhaps they were all more in the heart of the packlands and that was why she hadn't seen any lately.
"He must have great control for him to be above that many wovles," she agreed, glancing at the ground for a moment. So many wolves...---------- "Phib is a charismatic wolf." She said simply, almost somewhat disheartened. "He can’t help but not attract others to him." She knew that half of him. It was an unstoppable side of him. He wasn’t happy until he had that power. It wasn’t that she felt a sinking feeling towards. She loved the pack, and everyone in it. But...there had been a time when it had just been them. She felt disappointed in herself that she had been unable to satisfy him enough to keep him from the need of politics and the world.
A smile crossed about her face as her own mind picked up the sudden jolt in Echo’s heart. "He-" She paused for a moment, and changed her mind. "You came with Logan?" She amended, a small smile crossing her face. Ophelia meanwhile sat back and listened, absorbing the information. She still didn’t know if she liked Phib. Or Logan, for that matter. ---------- Echo considered this for a moment. What she got from Ame's words was that Phib was simply a natural leader and, as she would guess, wolves instinctively flocked to the best leader in hopes that their lives would be improved with a bit of order. Seemed easy enough to understand.
When the subject of Logan continued, the butterflies didn't seem to go away. They fluttered 'round and 'round her stomach, making her become quite twitchy and nervous.
"Yes," she replied first, looking down only at her paws. She didn't understand this feeling!
"My sister and I first lived on the outskirts of these lands. We didn't know there was a pack so close, though. But then I met Logan and he wanted to bring us back here..." Her heart flipped when she mentioned his name, and she glanced about nervously, as if someone could see her heart racing out of control whenever he came up in the conversation.
"And.. I agreed to come with him and my sister naturally followed. I think it's bad for us to be apart. At least for me," she murmured, not quite sure where she was going with this anymore. She seemed so flustered now. "I need her."---------- Amélie nodded her head sympathetically. “Yes...I think sisters are very important...” In a way, they were alternate versions of yourself. People you might have been. And in that, Amélie found both love and a crushing fear. She loved Ryukkii. She had so many good qualities, other then being predominantly...well, evil. She was smart, and clever. She had a great wit, and she was reliable. Why did she have to be so selfish? They could be-
She shoved the idea away, for it made her sick to her stomach to think of things that never would be. How wonderful it would have been, in her mind, if they had all lived together and been a happy family. Phib, Ryukkii, Czenthros- had they really been so terribly different?
Ophelia smiled at Echo, although somewhat embarrassed. She only wished she could be a better leader for the both of them. Hopefully she had made the right decision by coming to this place. This was however, the first time she was beginning to feel a slight warmth towards the land. The female seemed nice enough.
“It must have been hard for you, living on your own.” Amélie spoke reflectively, although she already knew the answer. “It won’t be like that anymore, not here.”----------

shia-san x Tamiko-chan Jenna x Hallie Hello.
Hi.
Whats your name?
I don’t have one.
Oh! But everyone has a name. Come on, what is it?
...I--
Oh... Well, I’m...
‘What?’ Awakened, startled, heated. The night air wasn’t enough to cool down this Halfling as silence regained, and established. A silvery moon flit a morphed reflection into a shallow pond, the bay a temporary bed to such a weary hound. It wasn’t pitch black, though dark and this amount of opaque shadowing began to frighten the female mix, rattling her chain and touching her weakest points. She rustled, head bobbing low to the shore line, eyes darting. Under watchful eyes was a lifted muzzle and a peeled lip, a feeble snarl only half the threat of her sharpened talons.
A moment passed, then another, and after the third she was tired of keeping her weary conscious in a threatening state, dissolving into the fatigue driven nomad she’d been for months. Jenna was a traveler, though she wasn’t accustomed to it and so direly wanted to find home. In her mind, she had no family, and to what family was exactly, wasn’t in her memory bank. A lot was missing from her thoughts, good memories, bad ones, her childhood and her friendships. Past relationships weren’t even blurs, she didn’t know how to mate, and didn’t know if she’d had kids in the past. Her age wasn’t signified, not to her at least and as to where she truly belonged would forever be lost. There could have been a tragic accident that erased all this from her thoughts, the last months were she was born, raise, lived, but she couldn’t tell, nor remember. This was how she had been living for quite some time, and would continue living from this point on--there were new scents wafted into black nostrils belonging to such female, and as her head spun, the dream just wearing off, the conscious Jenna finally clicked, and a memorable word clicked in her head; ‘others’.
At a slow, sloppy walk, she passed through the pond, a minor block in her path to seeking friendships and connections, and proceeded on into the depth of trees, entering willingly into the land of Telk.---------- The heat was stifling. Why was it so hot in these lands? Back home, the temperatures were always comfortable and one could sleep soundly at night without any disturbances from the weather. But this place was a whole other story. She had gone almost three days straight without so much as a good rest, and so she was feeling rather irritated and restless.
Determined to cool herself off, Hallie figured that she would find a nice river or something to cool off in. Rivers always had cold water, so perhaps if she drenched herself in the liquid from them, she'd be able to get at least a good nap in before her fur dried and the heat got to her again.
Growling to herself, the puppy stretched and promptly trotted out of the little abandoned fox hole she had taken refuge in when she could no longer move on. She had traveled quite a ways, and her paws were aching endlessly. And without any rest, she felt like it was only getting worse, which was why she was so determined to find a river and take a cooling bath before flopping down onto the ground and taking a nice nap. Even if it was short, it'd be rest nontheless.
Padding along, she looked this way and that. This place was still relatively new to the young female, and her drowsiness only made it worse and her attitude less pleasant.
"Gotta find a stupid river," she mumbled to herself, her ears back in frustration. And as she went along, that frustration blinded her to her surroundings, so she passed right by this older female, still grumbling.---------- Jenna wasn't fully off the intoxicating feeling of slumber and was partially asleep, making her equally blinded though half aware of what she was doing and where she was going--even if exactly where she wanted to go was unknown, so once the young pup passed her walk way, she was half startled, half unaware. A rush of confusing and weary thoughts bounced into her head, and automatically she flinched, yelped and snarled, a combination that mashed together all at once. 'What?' Came afterwards, her heart racing. 'Hello? Um--puppy? Hello?' It was another automatic thing, the sight of such a small creature adorable as well as exciting. This pup was the first she's seen, the first she'll remember when thinking back to this forest.
Now, she could say she was fully awake and in feeling another rush surpassed her, directions turned and she was then padding along a different route, following the young pup happily.---------- The sudden noise of a yelp and a snarl combined was enough for the unaware puppy to snarl and yelp in return. And the sudden appearance of an adult wolf didn't exactly help her nerves either. Where on earth had this one come from?!
Whirling around, she stared straight at the older female. Her ears were still back and the heat didn't seem to be fading away any time soon, and so she wasn't exactly in the best of moods. But, she noticed, this wolf didn't exactly seem threatening or anything of the sort. A second later, however, she remembered what her mother had told her. There were good actors in the world, and so she instantly put up her guard.
"I have a name," she snapped, sitting down a few feet away from the other. But then she continued on, apparently having no interest in actually saying what her name was. "What do you want? Were you following me?" That last question of hers made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. Had her parents sent wolves to shadow her, to keep tabs and make sure she didn't do anything stupid? The very thought infuriated her, making her mood worse.
"And I'm really not in the mood to waste any time, so you better say something before I just leave."---------- The abrupt stop jerked Jenna to a stand still, and a smile crossed her ebony chapped lips. The young pup was a snappy one, but it didn't phase her much. She wasn't exactly used to unkindly nature, however wouldn't let herself slump into such a character...well she wouldn't allow herself deep into the cruel strike she held. 'Oh...Well I'm sorry but I didn't know your name. If I did, I'd call you by it...And I'm new around these parts, thought meeting someone would help me get to know the area better.' the she-wolf paused, glancing away and towards the scene, clouded by darkness and humid air, the sky scattered with misty grey clouds. This wolf was obviously not the welcome wagon she'd hope for, however she'd get to know her the best she could--and the most this pup would allow. 'Oh, well where are ya headed, hm? By the way, even if you probably don’t care much, the names Jenna.'---------- Hallie wasn't an angry wolf, really. She was just tired and lack of sleep often made her snappy. So when Jenna replied calmly and almost kindly, she instantly came out of her state. Sighing, she shook her head and averted her eyes.
"I'm sorry. I'm terribly tired and I didn't mean to snap at you like that. It's nice to meet you Jenna, I'm Hallie." She stopped and considered her situation for a moment. That Ava person a few days before had got her thinking. Maybe it hadn't been so good to send a pup out all on her own to track down some lost relative through these vast lands. Maybe it'd be helpful if she had some allies or friends or whatever.
Coming out of her thoughts, she shook her head again and forced herself to pay attention. Losing herself in her thoughts wasn't the best way to go about in these lands. She never knew when some crazy wolf would come along and devour her.
"And.. I'm new here too, so I probably wouldn't be much use, sorry. But maybe we could help each other out? I'm looking for my sister, Cassidy." She dropped a name with some hopes that perhaps this wolf had met her sister along the way. If not, then that was fine, at least she had tried.---------- 'It's fine, no worries. Hallie, that's a very nice name, suits you well.' Jenna nodded. So Hallie wasn't the wicked witch incarnated, this was good to know, and with a gentle sway of her tail she marked both Hallie's smell and name in the record books, first memory coming here aught to be something worth remembering. Falling slightly on her haunches, Jenna perked with interest to Hallie's following words. 'oh...well, sure we can help each other out!' her nose twitched, she would love to help Hallie, but alas she'd only come to the lands and didn't know a soul besides the youngster before her. 'I'd love the help you Hallie but your the first one I've met...But Cassidy, I could help you search for her sometime, or at least keep her in mind. If I see her around I'll try and let you know as soon as I can.' There was an assertive nod, followed by a jostled bark. Cassidy. Another new soul to meet.---------- Hallie wagged her tail as she felt herself growing more comfortable with this new female. Her bad mood was forgotten as she busied herself with other things like holding a conversation. She perked her ears and was a good listener, as her mother had taught her to be. Besides, if she wasn't listening all the time, she might miss something important. It might have been a bit of a stretch, being as she had only seen two wolves thus far, but she had learned to be prepared and ready.
"I like your name, too, Jenna," she said sincerely, nodding as if it needed to be confirmed. But then she realized something. This wolf's name was the same as--"My mom's name is Jenna," she said matter-of-factly, tilting her head a little to the side. This wolf definitely wasn't her mother, there was no mistake about that. Besides, her mother wouldn't have left the packlands just to follow her youngest daughter around, that was for sure.
"But you look different than her, and act a little different too." Yes, her mother was more... strict, in a way. Much more of a keep-rebels-in-line sort of wolf than this Jenna here.
Then, when Jenna mentioned about keeping an eye out for Cassidy, the pup couldn't help but smile and wag her tail. "Why thank you. It's nice to know there are still helpful wolves in the world." The last was more of a mumble to herself, and she didn't really intend for Jenna to hear, though it didn't exactly matter. It was more of a personal issue that she had that caused her to say it.
"So anyways... what brings you out here?" she asked, tilting her head with pure curiousity.---------- There was a momentary lapse while Jenna thought over a few things Hallie had said. Jenna was Jenna, it was her name, but then there was Jenna, Hallies mom. Attempting to put two and two together, the hound passed over everything else Hallie had said and shouted 'Oh my stars, Hallie I'm your--mom?' Mom. Now there was a deep concept.
A slow tassel wave began at the end of her rump, Jenna's expression excited and confused, a mixture of both. Brown eyes scanned the young pup, her own form lowering to level the eye contact. 'But you look nothing like me...you must be mistaken. You must, no?' Her ears shot back quickly, a quiet yelp echoing into the still air. ---------- Hallie widened her eyes and couldn't say anything for a good moment as Jenna seemed to think that she was being seen as Hallie's mom Jenna. It seemed to scare the older wolf a little, and she tried quickly to make her realize that this wasn't the case.
"Oh, no! No, no, no!" she laughed nervously, shaking her head. "You aren't my mom. My mom's back home, running our pack. You don't look like her, remember? I said that earlier." Maybe this Jenna hadn't been listening. Then again, maybe she had but the shock of sharing the name with some pup's mother didn't help her to hold onto the information real easily.
"I'm sorry if I confused you. No, you aren't my mother, I'm sure of it." Hopefully, the other female would calm down. She looked a bit flusted now that she thought she had a daughter.
But what was wrong with Jenna? Did she not remember if she'd had puppies or not? She seemed to be acting strangely. And since Hallie wasn't that old, she figured that Jenna must have hit her head or something to not remember back a few months.
"Are... are you okay?"---------- It was a heart wrenching moment, though the relief of not being a mother to a pup she'd just met was lifted off her shoulders. Pulling slowly back to her haunches, she smirked, chortling softly. 'Ha, oh yes, yes. I'm sorry, I guess I just spaced--missed a few things. You didn't--exactly confusing, though...I guess. Just didn't know others could have the same name. It's pretty cool.' A slow nod came, followed by a gentle wag of her tail.
It wasn't till Hallie asked it, that she began to wonder herself, though she didn't think to in depth on it before replying. 'Ah, yeah sure of course I'm alright.' Her features wrinkled for a moment, the idea still dwelling, before taking a step past Hallie and peering off towards the pups original route. 'Um--so where were you headed?'---------- Hallie gave a small, nervous laugh when the other female seemed to recover from her false shock. She supposed it must have been a little strange, meeting some pup and magically you have the same name as that pup's mother. But then she considered it again. There were plenty of wolves in the world for there to be more than one with the same name. So it was either this wolf was sheltered or she seriously didn't remember anything.
"Aha, yeah. Lots of wolves have the same name. It's a big world, ya know," she mumbled, rambling on now for the sake of having something to do other than think of how strangely Jenna was acting.
Yet her thoughts were disrupted when she was asked where she was going. Following the other's gaze, the small female stood upon her paws and turned around slightly. "Well, I was going to find a river to cool off in. I can't sleep with this heat!" she groaned, falling over onto her side for a dramatic effect.
"But now I'm not so sleepy, so I might just wander around a little and get used to the surroundings. I can't go back home, not without finding Cassidy first so.... the only way I can go is forward."---------- Jenna smirked passively, ears flicking back against her skull. She knew that. Yeah--of course she did. Jenna knew that she felt very embarrassed at the moment, but wasn’t sure if it was because she didn’t know these things, or because a pup had to tell her. Either way, she decided to let it pass. ‘Well then me, and you--we can go explore the wood, search for a cooling river and look for your sister!’ The female nodded, bouncing once into the air. She realized that Hallie couldn’t return home without bringing her sister back, so Jenna would in the end help Hallie out--in the best ways she could. Flicking her tail to and fro, she took one placid step forwards, then another, passing by Hallie in the process before glancing back. ‘So, what do you say?’---------- Hallie didn't particularly care. She figured that maybe something had happened to Jenna to make her forget whether or not she had actually had any puppies before. So she merely shrugged it off and moved on to another topic. The other female, after all, didn't look like she wanted to talk much about her having children, so she respected that and kept her maw shut about it.
Moving on to another subject, the small pup wagged her tail back and forth excitedly. Thus far on her journey there hadn't been any others who were willing to help and had actually volunteered. So Jenna's offer was one she wouldn't pass up easily.
"I say it's a great idea!" she yipped, bounding off after her new friend. "Where do you think we should go, Jenna?" she asked in her high little voice, tilting her head slightly as she peered all around her. "I think we should go to a lake, that way we can swim! I've always wanted to swim," Hal blabbered on, flicking her ears around and catching any sound that managed to be made.
"Have you ever swam before?" she asked, stopping for a moment to glance up at the larger wolf.---------- Jenna propped herself on her haunches for a moment, listening to Hallie as she spoke while scanning the terrain. It was fairly difficult to scope out such forest in the dark, however she figured she'd manage it. 'I agree Hallie, a river sounds splendid.' She nodded, turning about to peer at Hallie. 'And of course I've swam before! It's so much fun.' Her nose wrinkled, body twitching with anticipation as she began to take backwards steps, before spinning about to face the right way.
'Alright, so water. We should go--erm--' Jenna's gaze flicked wildly, left and right, behind them and in front of them, till she managed to make up her mind. 'Well--I think we should head, that way.' her gestures were motioned towards the upper left side of their position, a smile passing over her lips. ‘What do you think?’ ---------- The little female smiled and bounced about Jenna for a moment before she settled down on her haunches straight in front of her. "Really? I've never swam before. Momma never really let me. I don't know why though. But I think I'd like to try.... will you teach me?" she asked, her small tail wagging back and forth across the ground.
She calmed down a little, however, when her friend motioned which direction they should head off in. Raising to her paws, she glanced off towards where Jenna had pointed to. "That way? Yeah, I guess that's fine. I mean, I don't know my way around here, so any way is fine with me." She smiled and bounced forward a foot or so.
"Say... Jenna?" she began, glancing at the ground for a moment. "Will you always be my friend?"---------- Jenna was surprised for a brief moment. Hallie didn't know how to swim? Yet it was the greatest past time there was! Yipping lightly, the female smirked. 'Of course I'll teach you how to swim. Everyone deserves to know how.' Her head bounced in a nod, tail lashing constantly. This was even better, to know that she would teach someone else something, especially Hallie. Taking a light step forwards, she sniffed the air before responding to the pup. 'Yeah, I also don't really know if that's a good way, but I think we should head towards it just because. We can map out the woods this way.'
Jenna wasn't sure if what she was saying was accurate, however it seemed to work, and so she shrugged it off and glanced towards the skies. A flock of dismal black crows swooped by, evening brining them the pleasures of free hunting grounds, without the threat of wolves, foxes, bears...the like. Their flight sparked Jenna's attention, and she watched them fly off into the night, ears perked and body pointed forwards. 'Birds are also fun to play with; I'll teach you how to use 'em sometime.' She nodded; glad to know there was someone who would listen to her.
As Hallie asked the last question, Jenna couldn't help but smile. There was someone in this world that was willing to stay with her forever--or at least keep friendly contact with, and for some odd reason, this brought a bubbly, almost floating sensation. Just the knowledge of Hallie wanting to stay friends was enough to send her happy meter out the roof. Lowering her small, soft head, she bumped her muzzle into Hallie's and smiled. 'Always.' After that, she lifted to her full height, took a few steps forwards, before giggling and calling back to Hallie to follow.
Indeed, she would stay Hallie's friend for as long as the pup would allow it.---------- Hallie wagged her tail and smiled uncontrollably. It was simply amazing, the feeling one got when one found someone who would simply be one's friend and just do anything. "Thanks!" she yipped, bouncing about again with random energy. Where had all of this come from anyways? Just twenty minutes ago she was groaning and cursing everything that came to mind. Now she was bubbly and care-free!
Figuring that it simply didn't matter anymore and the only thing that did matter was having a great time with Jenna, Hal barked and jumped forward after her friend.
"Yeah, I think that's good. Momma never really taughtme much about navigating, just how to survive. I think you are right. We should just wander around until we know where we are going," she said, nodding firmly as if to back up her statement.
Then, when the birds flew overhead, the pup blinked and glanced up as Jenna did, watching the crows retreat into the night sky. She'd seen them fly before, but never knew that anyone interacted with them. "Use them?" she repeated, tilting her head a little in confusion. Use them how?
Moving on, Hal giggled slightly and pawed at Jenna's face slightly. "I'm glad!" she yipped, rolling over then jumping up to her paws and racing after her friend.---------- Jenna smirked, barking softly towards Hallie as she became one small puff of energy. 'Well now that you've managed to get here, I can try and help you the best I can.' Hallie wasn't like most pups; she had come to the conclusion. It seemed that Hal's mother also didn't tend to her pups the way she should, however Jenna wasn't in any position to bad-talk, so she kept to herself on that part.
Seeking water, Jenna began a short sniff and lift technique, lowering her muzzle to the earth, sniffing, then perking her head back up, all the while moving at a steady, comfortable pace. She watched Hallie as well, making sure that the pup was capable of keeping at her speed, and always watching her surroundings. She may be a bit new to some things, yet keeping safe was one instinct that even the dumbest of animals couldn't rid of. As Hallie spoke, she nodded and smiled, yet kept to her rhythm of scenting, watching, and lurking.
The walk wasn't long; rather Jenna felt that they'd only taken a few long strides to get to their destination, which made Jenna as proud as a new mother. She could hear the river through the silence, its gentle trickles passing over smooth rocks a thrill to her ears. Padding into the open, she sniffed the ground--fresh bear scent lingered, the strongest of the smells, but was dimming out into nothing. She took a few more steps out, looked towards her left, then her right, before settling on her rump near the water to sip. 'Hallie, look! We've found water!' Pulling her head over the edge, she was disappointed to see that this water wasn't nearly as deep as she hoped for, making the swimming lesson a bit complicated, if not canceled all together, however just the sight and touch of liquid rolling down her throat seemed soothing enough.---------- Hallie simply let her tail wag back and forth delightedly as she followed her new friend. She was happy that she had found a friend so quickly. She was lucky to not have found a wolf who was ready to attack now and ask questions later. Yes, lucky, that's what she was. She was lucky to have made it this far and lucky to have such a great friend like Jenna.
Continuing along beside the older female, she merely looked around. She hadn't really thought to sniff out the water, and so all she did really was glance around and think.
Why had mother sent her to find her sister and not some bigger, more capable wolf? It had been a question that had been lurking at the back of her mind and had only surfaced at this moment. Why her of all wolves? Hal had seen some other stronger, swifter, smarter wolves than she. So why hadn't her mother sent those?
She didn't, however, get a chance to pursue this matter further in her head, for they soon reached a river.
"Wow, already?" she asked, glancing up slightly in surprise. "Wow, you're really good at this Jenna!" she yipped, bouncing up and down before darting straight into the water. Giggling, she splashed around a little before stopping, fur drenched, to look at her friend.
"It's not that deep, but we could still have fun, yeah?"---------- Jenna watched Hallie as she dove into the water and began to moisten herself up. It was cute, rather humorous, and almost drove Jenna to do the same, however she was stopped with a question. 'Oh sure we can still have fun. We can even wade down the river, or up it, just to see what he can find. And look!' The femme jumped to her feet and pushed her maw into the water, nearly hitting the bottom, towards a passing trout. 'Fish!' Jenna watched as the snoozing school of salmon and trout wriggle about with the commotion, before then settling once again. Their nearly lifeless bodies clicked on shut down, while their eyes stayed wide open. Jenna froze for a moment, watching the fish drift down stream, before darting her muzzle back in and snatching one up. 'Hal--look!' she mumbled, ears drooping slightly. 'I'm fishing' Spitting out the caught trout, Jenna fumbled to place a paw on it for it flapped about in the air, not willing to give up without a fight. 'All you have to do is catch one, then wrap your jaw's around it and--' Jenna proceeded in doing so, lowering her head, clamping her canines about the head, and with one twitch of her jaw muscles, she just down on the fishes torso, the movement stopping all together. 'It's a risk we have to take, even if a bit morbid.' The female frowned, yet nosed the dead fish towards Hal in an attempt to offer her food.
'I wouldn't suppose a young pup like yourself, taking a long journey as you did, has eaten, am I right?'---------- Hallie nodded quickly, still standing in the water. Being as small and young as she was, the surface of the water was at her belly, and the cold sensation made her shiver slightly. She was about to get out of the water when Jenna suddenly stuck her nose in the water then drew it back out, a fish in her jaws. She watched in amazement as the other female killed the fish and kept it from going back into the water, where it would have a better chance of surviving.
"Wow, that was amazing, Jenna!" she barked, bounding through the water and back onto the bank. Without even bothering to shake her fur dry, she sniffed at the fish and wagged her tail.
Yet when Jenna seemed to be offering her the fish, she couldn't help but shake her head. "Oh no, I can't take that. It's your fish, you caught it! I can catch one for myself," she said firmly, nodding slightly. "You go ahead and eat that one." Then, before her friend could object or say anything, she turned and crouched down near the water's edge.
"I just do this... right?" she asked, nearly throwing herself into the water as an unsuspecting fish swam by. Yet she wasn't exactly experienced, so Hal simply fell into the river, her prey swimming away easily.
Groaning, she merely lay there. "I think I need to practice."---------- Jenna smiled, ears flicking back against her head as Hal leapt into the water. 'Hallie, I--' Before she could even protest to what Hallie was doing, a splash of water rose into the air and splattered outward, onto Jenna as well as Hal herself. Watching the salmon wiggle on, the female burst into laughter, rolling onto her side, then her back, limbs kicking softly. 'H-Hallie! Let me teach you how to catch!' The laughter continued, even after Jenna was on her feet and trotting towards the pup. 'Ok, ok watch. All you have to do is wait till the fish fall back asleep. They keep their eyes open, but they just stop moving their tail and drift. Then--once you spot one, you wait till it's just in your reach and you jump at it!' Jenna watched as more fish drifted down the river, occasionally tossing their tail as they bumped into one another. Glancing towards Hal, she smirked and whispered. 'Go ahead, try. But be gentle till the final blow.' Her tail swaggered in the air, hind lifting as her upper portion stayed low to the ground.---------- Hallie folded her ears back in embarassment as her friend began to laugh at her. She knew that Jenna didn't mean any harm by her laughter, but it wasn't really that that had bothered her. It was the fact that, after all that training her mother had given her, she felt as if she could do anything. But now she could tell that she was far from being able to do anything. She couldn't even catch a stupid fish.
"No," she sighed, looking down at her reflection and frowning at what she saw. "I'm not that hungry anymore anyways."
Moving slowly, she lifted herself from the water and onto the bank. Once there, she shook out her fur, beginning with her nose and head then gradually working her way down to her tail. Once her fur was relatively free of water, she plopped down on her side and just lay there, her eyes staring ahead and at nothing at all.
"Thanks anyways, Jenna."---------- Jenna's head tilted, eyes lowering and tail tucking. Why was Hallie getting so defensive all of a sudden? Turning her head to eye Hal, she whimpered. 'Hallie? What's wrong...?' She was confused and equally saddened by Hal's sudden change in mood. She so desperately wanted to teach Hal everything, yet now she only seemed to want to plop on her side and stare out. Jenna crept towards her pup friend and nosed one of her paws, bringing her form to her belly silently.---------- Hallie merely shook her head and continued to stare ahead. She couldn't possibly tell her friend that she was ashamed of not being able to catch a fish. She thought that Jenna would only laugh at her more. Who would get so upset as she was over something so silly and small as fishing?
"Nothing," she lied, curling her touched paw up towards her belly. "I'm just suddenly tired."---------- Jenna lowered her gaze and backed away from the female, eyeing the earth shyly. 'Then let's find a den, you can sleep there if you'd like...please.' Her ears sagged, and her tongue rounded her nose before she lifted and glanced around. 'Do you own a den around here?' Eyes looking to Hallie cautiously, she waited, tail slumped and nearly tucked. What had she done?---------- Hallie sighed then glanced over at her friend. Her eyes widened slightly as she saw that Jenna wasn't any happier than she felt herself. It made her stomach turn and twist to look at the other like that. Folding her ears back, she lifted herself up slightly so that she was now laying on her belly.
"No, Jenna.. I'm sorry," she said softly, glancing down at her paws. Why was this so hard? She couldn't fish, so what? Darn her and her unusual ego.
"I'm not really tired," she began, glancing over towards the stream that held all of the fish she simply knew she couldn't catch. "I was just... ashamed... that I couldn't catch a fish. It's just that my mom taught me to do all these things, and now I can't even fish. I literally fell flat on my face." She whimpered to herself and placed her head on the ground next to her paws. Why was she so ashamed? It was just fishing.
"It's stupid... just forget it."---------- Jenna whined. 'Oh Hallie, but it doesn't matter if you can't swim! I mean, there's a lot of things people can't do right off the bat, you just have to grow and learn. You're still so young Hal, you have time to become an expert fisherman. I mean, one day you'll be better and faster then even I am!' The femme smirked, wagging her tail and falling to her belly before Hallie. 'I'm sorry for laughing at you, I really didn't mean anything by it. You just need practice. Your mom can't teach you everything--you learn as you go!' Her eyes began to glow with excitement. 'Like, I can teach you how to swim! And fish too, maybe hunt one day. We can learn things together. When I get hurt, I'll learn not to do what I did that day, just like when you miss a fish, you'll know to try harder next time.' Jenna's tail began to lash across the earth as she rolled onto her back and attempted to look up to Hallie, though was forced to look a bit downwards. 'I'll help you with what your mother didn't? Is that ok?'---------- Hallie listened to her friends words, perking her ears up a little and looking Jenna straight in the eyes so that she didn't miss a single word. Once it was all done and said, she merely lay there, blinking. Everything that Jenna had said had made perfect sense. Things had to be worked at and practiced, not merely mastered right off the bat. So why had she not realized this before?
Suddenly feeling ashamed again--though this time because she had thought she could master fishing so quickly--she rose to her paws and moved over towards Jenna.
"That's definitely okay," she replied, a small smile overcoming her features. "You know... you're the best friend I've ever had."
Still smiling, the little female moved over to her friend and nuzzled her under her chin, afterwards sinking down to her belly and wagging her tail happily. "I'm glad I met you," she said softly, resting her head on Jenna's foreleg. Then she yawned and stretched out her back legs.
"Man.. I think I really am tired."---------- Just hearing Hallie say such things made her quiver with glee, and as she moved over towards the older female, Jenna couldn't help but smile. 'You're my best friend too Hallie...I'm really glad I met you.' Coiling her tail and pressing her hind limbs towards her stomach, she made an attempt to secure the pup in a half arch, lowering her head just to the side of Hallie’s.
She was tired, and it was adorable seeing the pup stretch with fatigue. Driven by an internal instinct, the female gently coaxed Hallie into slumber, licking at the pup's skull and nudging her gently. 'I'm--kind of tired myself...we can rest...here...if you want' The last part being send in a murmur, Jenna's body loosened as she gradually lost the battle against slumber.

RonsoStryder x Tamiko-chan Reno x Whisper The forlorn wolf ambled down a well-worn trail that weaved and snaked through the open valley. His pink tongue lolled out of the side of his mouth, hanging with no care or even awareness. White, tattered ears flickered side to side while his ocher orbs kept steady upon the ground as there was no need to look up nor even a desire to meet or look into the eyes of another. He always remembered that it was best to only talk to those he knew but, for years, that had been no one; Reno had always found pleasure speaking with himself softly or musing up at the sky and speaking to either the clouds or, in his logic, his deceased family.
"Reno find Cellen," he mumbled to himself with a low, loose british accent as his checker banded tail swayed behind him in a lowly manner. "Reno needs Cellen."
Cautiously glancing upwards as the young adult was stumbling within the boundaries of the woods, Reno tucked his tail underneath him and flattened his ears against his skull.
Where was he going? Was this even the right direction?
The crimson faced wolf had been following what seemed to be a familiar scent of his lost brother but, sadly, he had followed the "scent" many a time and had gotten himself into trouble. The last time he followed the trail only directed him into foreign territory and face to face with a wolf who wasn't so remorseful in forgiving those who trespassed. As a result, Reno was delt several deep gashes upon the muzzle as a reminder to stray away from other wolves and packs.
He winced slightly as the scars seemed to recollect and revive their pain. The sting of claws and teeth were too painful and, thus, gave birth to his fear of other wolves and creatures. Reno was shy, yes, but he's capacity to fathome and understand others was limited and short.
But that wouldn't stop him from finding Cellen.
Wrinkling his muzzle as he lifted his head upwards, Reno shook his head while his small, unusal growt of hair underneath, a small beard or a goatee, wibbled. He was tired and exhausted from walking so far from the East. As a small clearing, secluded with trees and a small river came into view, the brown wolf stumbled into the small safe haven and flopped onto his stomach.
"Reno rest here," he sighed as he curled his checkered tail about his body. Drawing his head onto his forepaws, the crimson faced wolf flickere his eyes and drew them closed seeking what rest he could take hold of.---------- Life had been one big blur. It was all just a surreal blur in her mind. And the headaches! They simply wouldn't leave her alone and they appeared to be the only company she received. It wasn't exactly a beneficial relationship, but she handled it; she had to handle it or else she'd simply rot. And, though there wasn't much purpose for her anymore, she felt that rotting was not the way to go.
So she wandered on, aimlessly and with no real destination. She rested when she needed and ate whenever she had the chance to. Since those chances were few and far in between, she had grown rather thin.
It was now that she was a true loner, a wolf without a purpose. She belonged no where, had no friends and no family. Or at least she thought she did. Being as she had hit her head and forgotten nearly her whole life, she didn't know of the dramas she had gone through nor the friendly faces she had met. Instead, she only knew the loneliness that plagued her now.
Sighing to herself as she thought over her current situation, the green female merely padded slowly through the brush. Where was she going? Not even she knew. All that she did know was that she needed a drink or she might just collapse from dehydration.
Continuing along with that thought in mind, Whisper eventually came to a river after following the fresh scent of water. And she wasn't the most observant of wolves, so she completely missed the male that rested not far from her. All she noticed was the lapping waters and her parched throat.
Without even a single glance around her, she rushed to the river and drank noisely. When she had finally replenished her body's water supply, she sighed and plopped down onto the ground, still not noticing Reno.---------- Drifting in and out and in between sleep, Reno's tattered, whit ears perked upwards as bushes rustled and withered leaves scattered with a hallow sound as footfall brushed them aside. His drowsy eyes flickered open as he peered towards the banks of the river. A sharp, unfamiliar scent wafted heavily within the air; a scent that brought the alarm of danger and uncertainty. Ocher orbs widened as the wolfess drew out from the brush and stumbled towards the river, plunging her maw into its frigid depths and soothing her thirst.
Another wolf?
His bitten and torn ears flattened against his skull as a soft whine escaped from his maw. Reno never did like to be in the company of those he didn't know and, with a painful reminder of what could happen if he was in another unfamiliar territory, feared that he would be maliciously attacked again.
Shifting his shoulders as his blood tarnished wing design shifted, appearing as if he was seeking to retreat into the skies and away from this place, Reno ducked his head low and threw his paws over his eyes. The last thing he wanted was to be hurt agian; to bleed and howl for help but only to find that his call for his family and Cellen went unnoticed and unanswered.
If only he had wings! Perhaps like a bird or some sort of winged creature, Reno could hide away from the world and find Cellen more easily. But only his wing markings, like that of his brother, kept the imagination alive that maybe, someday he would be able to fly.
Such a hopeful and abstract imagination he has.
Trembling with the fear tha coarsed through his veins and curent mindset, Reno braced himself as he could only fear for the worst.
"Reno no want fight. Reno leave, just don't hurt Reno," he called out, the loose british tongue rolling out of his mouth with ease as his paws still kept cover over his eyes.
"Reno tired of being hurt."---------- Whisper mumbled random sayings to herself as she lay there, still unaware to the other wolf so close to her. But things weren't all fine and dandy with her. Ribs were in plain sight as she took in a deep breath then slowly let it back out. The dirt so close to her nose bothered her senses and made her sneeze and wheeze uncontrollably. Finding herself uncomfortable once more, she shook her head then rolled onto her stomach, ears folding back slightly.
Now, being not as young as she used to be, she had a bit of a hearing problem. She was going deaf, but slowly it seemed. So at first she didn't hear Reno's words. But the last bit she did catch. Tired of being hurt? At first she thought that maybe she was only hearing things. She had, after all, been alone for quite some time. Maybe that loneliness was finally driving her mad. But then the wind shifted and she smelled an unfamiliar scent, male too. This alarmed the female greatly, being as she didn't know who was agressive and who wasn't, and she was in no shape to defend herself.
Slowly, she turned her head towards Reno. He was in a defensive position and looked rather beaten, but that didn't matter to her. He had scars, and that means that he had gotten into fights and was strong enough to live through them. That alone was enough to make her jump and take the most pathetic stance.
Whisp whined to herself, her ears folding completely back against her skull. Her tail not only tucked between her legs but also pressed firmly against her underbelly. She was crouching so low that her stomach almost touched the ground, and her head was just about level with her belly.
"Please... I-I don't want any t-trouble."---------- The crimson faced male blinked several times, looking upon the green female whose conditions were poor and disheartening. White ears seemed to fall back as his tongue slid back into his mouth, brows furrowed in a perplexed and confused expression.
Trouble? Wasn't it he who had asked not to be beaten up or hurt again?
Slowly, Reno withdrew his paws from his face and wrinkled his gashed muzzle. Hesitant ocher eyes drew towards the wolfess across the banks of the river as his tail slid from under him and curled aside him. He whined, as he crawled towards the river, carefully and cautiously approaching as he slunk towards her at a safe distance upon his stomach.
Within a foot of the river, Reno shifted his forepaws and let his shoulders slump down as he was trying to find the courage to speak or at least comfort the wolfess. Why was she scared of him? Did she experience pains too?
"Reno not want trouble either," he spoke softly, a slight studder as he rested his head upon his paws once again and sighed softly. "Reno is just...looking for Cellen. That's all." Smiling with a grin as his checkered tail thumped beside him, his overall composure changing and becoming more relaxed, the crimson faced wolf blinked several times and glanced upwards once again.
"Reno no meant to scare you. Reno never hurt anyone."---------- Despite all the reassurances of the male, she still felt uneasy. Ever since she had lost her memory and she had been plagued with these deathly headaches, she hadn't been quite right. It was now hard for her to trust anyone. Not knowing her past gave her a sense of lost knowledge and time, and, naturally, ignorance led to fear. So when Reno tried to come closer, she shook her head and pressed herself firmly against the bushes, her side now towards him as she glanced nervously at him.
"W-well, I know no Cellen so.. y-you can just l-leave me alone. I don't want to g-get hurt," she murmured, her hear racing enough so that she could hear it in her ears.
Yet then his tail began to wag and Reno said that he didn't mean to scare her and that he had never hurt anyone. He sounded sincere enough, but she still wasn't completely convinced. He looked and sounded innocent and harmless, but could she trust him.
"I-I'm sorry... I just have to be care-careful, you know?" she said softly, calming herself down a bit, even though she still held the nervous omega position.---------- Did she not like him? He didn't know. But watching her as she scooted back and far from him as he proceeded towards the river in search to soothe his own thirst, Reno kept his gaze upon the ground as he drifted his muzzle outwards and dipped it into the cool waters. He drank slow, letting the welcomed refreshment quench and soothe him as the journey from the east had been long and tumlutious. But he was not welcomed here and nor did the female even want him here.
That was one thing that was easy to understand even for a slow thinker like himself.
Lifting his muzzle upwards from the river as his maw and small tuft of red goatee dripped sopping wet with water, Reno scooted away from the river and also gave the wolfess distance.
"Reno knows," he replied with a soft sigh, thoughts and recollections of the past seemed to flood his current train of thought. Those thoughts never did cease; they were always haunting him, always lurking at the back of his mind. Why were some wolves so vicous and bloodthirsty?
"Reno wasn't careful and Reno got attacked by wolves. Reno doesn't understand why some wolves are nice and some are mean."
Each wolf was an individual; each wolf was unique. Reno knew that but why some wolves would kill and attack one another just...didn't make sense. His maw settled with a small frown as his white ears flickered and swiveled.
"Did wolves hurt you too?"---------- Whisper let her ears lift up a little as she listened to the male's words, or at least tried to. She was a bit hard of hearing, so she had to strain constantly just to make sure she didn't have to ask him to repeat himself. So, managing to catch everything that Reno said, she was surprised to hear him say that he was attacked by wolves. Probably some agressive ones that simply had nothing else to do. It was such a shame.
Whining, she loosened her posture and crawled towards him a little bit. "S-some wolves feel the need to... kill or-or hurt because.. I th-think it's because they feel weak and they f-feel like they need to.. prove themselves or s-something l-like that."
When he asked if she had been hurt by other wolves, she perked her ears slightly and looked off to the side. Should she tell him that she didn't know because she for some reason couldn't remember her past?
Taking in a deep breath, she settled down on her stomach and watched the ground with dull eyes.
"I don't know. I... I can't re-remember."---------- Yellow ocher orbs glimpsed upwards, watching as the female slinked towards him a little upon her stomach. Listening as his white, bitten ears perked upwards, the crimson faced male nodded as his tongue slid out from the side of his mouth.
"Reno don't like wolves who kill and hurt other wolves," he growled as the fur upon his back bristled slightly ears folding as he snorted a sharp breath through his nostrils and thumped his tail behind him.
Wolves that felt as if their dominance was best asserted by attacking an individual or even killing him were no better than the scavengers that roamed the forest grounds. Once any predator or creature acquired a taste for blood, it was more than evident and pure truth that a fueling for bloodlust and power were soon to follow. Reno had seen it; The young adult had seen the darkness that clouded those wolves eyes and took wroth upon their souls. That ever present feeling of darkness always seemd to surround the individual and Reno couldn't help but shiver whenever he came in contact with such a foul and twisted wolf.
Blinking several times as he shook his head, Reno settled his gaze back upon the green female.
Can't remember?
"It's okay," he smiled with a warm grin, "Reno can't always remember either."
Furrowing his brows slightly, the crimson faced wolf tilted his head slightly.
"What your name?"---------- Whisper slunk back and away from Reno again as he growled, her ears pressing down against her skull once more. She knew that it wasn't towards her, but that didn't stop her from being frightened by it anyhow. Growling meant anger and threats, and she didn't like either of those.
But when he said that it was okay that she couldn't remember, she felt as if the growling moment had passed. Nodding slightly, she unfolded her ears and crawled back towards him. She just hoped that she wouldn't talk about anything that would make him upset again. She definitely didn't like him growling like that. The scars littering his face and such only made the nightmare worse for her, so she tried to not think about it too much.
"But.. I can't remember a-anything," she stammered, looking up at him for a few moments. She knew that something had to have happened to her to make her not remember, but she didn't know what it was. She wondered if maybe it happened to others also.
"O-oh? My name? It's Whisper," she said softly, glancing down at her paws. She wanted to ask him his name, but she wondered if she should. Finally, she just decided she should.
"What's y-yours?"---------- His maw frowned, angry at himself that he had scared and made the wolfess uncomfortable. Wincing as if an invisble invalid inflicted pain upon him, Reno blinked several times and intook a deep breath. Wrinkling his muzzle as his black and pink spattered nose released the air from his nostrils, Reno relased and rested his head between his forepaws.
The crimson faced male listened and, after a few moments, rose his head upwards and centered it upon his two paws. "Reno thinks sometimes we must not remember things...best not to remember things we have forgotten. If you can't remember then do new things to remember." Clenching the ground with his right paw as he could feel the texture of the soil and grits underneath his paw, he chuckled.
"Why waste time to remeber when you can have fun?"
Merrily thumping his tail aside him as he nodded his head from side to side, the young adult looked towards the wolfess and smiled.
"Reno," he replied with an upbeat yip. "Reno likes Whisper."---------- Whisper tilted her head in confusion at the other. Despite the scars on his face and the fact that he had been visciously attacked at some point in his life, Reno seemed relatively carefree and happy. She wondered why she couldn't be like that. She didn't even know if anything had happened to her in her past, and yet she still was the most untrusting wolf. She almost felt ashamed.
Sighing to herself, she rested her head on her paws and merely stared blankly ahead. "Yes.. I supposed your r-right," she murmured, her tail curling around her hind legs.
Yet when he said his name and said that he liked her, she couldn't help but raise her head and blink at him. She had never met a wolf that lost its nervousness so fast. How could Reno have so much trust in others when so much had happened to him? The female simply couldn't understand. But she was just glad that he liked her and wasn't mean or agressive.
"I like you too, Reno," she said, a small smile beginning to take over her features. Even her tail began to uncurl and wag slowly, brushing the dirt from side to side.---------- Though he had wandered alone all his life, forlorn and distant from his family and Cellen, Reno had always tried, no matter in what situation, to continually look upon his life as half full and never half empty. It was truth that the crimosn faced wolf was a rather strange sort and wasn't the brightest of them all but, still, Reno tried to keep happy and tried to be brave when he could. All he could do was to make others happy and, in his simple logic, he'd be happy too.
The brown wolf smiled as his white ears swiveled and rested at ease. "Reno thinks it's best to live life rather than think it. If you think, you'll never live."
His ocher eyes glimpsed towards her as the posture and composure of the wolfess seemed to change. She was smiling and her tail seemd to be more casual as it swayed behind her.
"Is Whisper with a pack? Or is Whisper alone like Reno?"
From what he could tell, there seemed to be no other wolves present within the area or at least from what he could tell from no other scents present. Though he was alone as well, Reno never did like seeing other wolves alone and dismantled from a pack. He had a big heart and the young adult always tried to help as best he could but, sometimes, he never could solve everything.
Maybe he could help her?---------- "That's a good way to look at it, I think," she mumbled, glancing off to the side for a moment as she thought it over. That was actually a pretty good way to try and go about life. It made sense in her mind, and she felt that maybe she should start thinking a little more like Reno. It seemed to keep him happy and such.
Nodding to herself, she let her posture ease up more and more. The more they talked, the more she felt comfortable. To her, someone who wanted to attack wouldn't go through the trouble of talking and such. If they wanted to attack, they'd simply attack. At least that was her logic.
When he asked if she was in a pack or not, however, she felt a little nervous again.
"Oh, no.. I don't have a pack. I don't know if I ever have," she murmured, glancing down at the ground again. She then glanced to her side, where her ribs were clearly visable. "I'm... alone." All alone in the big, dark world.
Looking back at Reno, she folded her ears back again. "What about you?"---------- A rather goofy grin slid across his maw as he nodded his head. Simple concepts were always better understood since they didn't require so much thought but, many times, they seem to be overthought or pondered upon too studiously. "Reno likes simple thinking," he chuckled softly as he tilted his head upon his paws and blinked his ocher eyes several times.
It was pleasing to finally speak to another wolf rather than the clouds, sky and the hidden stars. How long had it been since he'd been able to talk to another wolf? Too long to be truthful. But nevertheless, Reno was still thumping his tail and bobbing his head to the side.
He always did enjoy the company of others but, before he could feel relaxed, he'd have to feel secure and feel as if he could freely speak with another and not worry if there was a wolf with awaiting jaws that sought to wrap around his neck.
White, tattered ears drew upwards as his maw opened slightly, pink tongue lolling out of his mouth. Whisper was alone as well? His ears swiveled back as he whined softly.
"Reno has no pack. No family. Reno is looking for Cellen, Reno's brother." Furrowing his brows as the long forgotten and pent up pains bubbled to the surface, the crimson faced wolf intervened and let his optimisim take control.
"But Reno is searching for him. Reno think's he's alive and came to look for him."---------- Whisper listened as Reno spoke. His voice was soothing to her in a way, and she found herself growing more and more relaxed. It was a nice change for her, being as before she was always jumpy and nervous where ever she went, fearing that someone would randomly jump out and attack her. But with Reno here and talking to her, she didn't feel that way. It was nice.
"I like simple thinking too," she mused aloud. "It's.... simple, for lack of a better word," she said, folding her ears back in slight embarassment. Yeah, she sounded really smart there.
Luckily, the subject was changed when the male started talking about his brother Cellen and how he was looking for him. Having never heard of such a wolf, she was sad that she couldn't help Reno out in any way. She sure seemed helpless at this point. She couldn't hunt, couldn't even help a good wolf find his brother. It was bad enough that she was losing her hearing and couldn't smell so well, and now this!
"I don't have any brothers or sisters. Oh, well, I did, at one point. But they all... died... a long time ago, I think," she said quietly, her gaze lingering on the ground. "But I hope you find yours really soon. It's good to have family."---------- With his tongue slightly hanging from the side of his mouth and softened, ocher orbs settled upon her, Reno nodded his head and let his checker banded tail sway, thumping and sweeping behind him. Whenever he was given the chance, Reno liked to be in the company of others who weren't so threatening and, now, the young adult felt comfortable.
"Reno only have Cellen," he commented as his brows furrowed, thoughts drifting within his train of thought, "and Reno won't lose Cellen again."
How long had it been since the two brothers had last seen each other?
Too long.
Reno had been apart for almost a year now and, in some cases, many wolves would lose hope and their kindling dreams and unceasing yearning to be reunited dwindle; withering and fading like that of a forgotten memory. But, as for Reno, he wouldn't give up.
He couldn't.
The memories of the past still lingered fresh within his mind, coaxing him, urging him onwards. He couldn't stop, he couldn't give up: Reno needed to be reassured, he needed someone to help him carry his burdens and to stand beside him. Reno missed the support his brother offered to him and, lately, he'd been a wandering vagabond.
Flickering his white, tattered ears to the side, the slow wolf blinked as he peered up into the eyes of the green wolfess.
"Whisper should come with Reno," he softly spoke as his orcher orbs glistened with both trust and an undying outlook of hope." Whisper should leave this place behind and come with Reno."---------- Whisper looked at the other wolf with a strong admiration. He had such a strong sense of hope that it almost made her feel bad that she lived the way she did. Why couldn't she be more like him? If he could do it, she could too, right? How hard could it be to be hopeful?
"That's a good thing to say," she replied, glancing down at the ground again. "They say that if you want something bad enough you'll get it. Maybe you will find Cellen very soon." At least she hoped so. This Reno wolf definitely seemed like he deserved to be reunited with his brother. After all, he had come all this way and faced dangerous wolves just to search for his brother. That was strong determination, and Whisp admired it.
But when he said that she should go with him, her heart nearly froze mid-beat and all of her good feelings melted away. Go with him?
"Oh, I really couldn't. It's very kind of you, b-but I'd just be a burden. I c-can't hardly hunt a-and.." she fumbled for words. She liked him and thought that he was a nice wolf and all, but she just couldn't see herself going anywhere with anyone. Besides, he'd probably just get tired of her after a few days and tell her to go away. Rejection was her worst fear.
"Really... I'll just slow you down."----------
