arghh that deff happened to me a couple of times. my dad grounded me and took my cotrollers for my games and my gba. he even uninstalled WoW and took the discs so i couldn't reinstall it. xDDD meh.. he eventually gave them back but he ALWAYS says i'm getting too old for video games. -_-

Well for punishment I guess its ok, but just cause your to old, or cause your a girl, thats wrong, and sending the wrong message to kids

I know what you're going through. My mom just HATES video games. I used to be obsessed with them in my preteen years, but now, I just play them about 2 hours a day.
But she still thinks it's right to take my video games away from me on school days, and most weekends, because she thinks I won't study and continuously play them like I used to. However, I've always thought that if I don't play them for a couple of hours a day, I'd be too bored and depressed to even look at my homework.

ThreeDeadRats Video games are a form of entertainment. Ask her how she would feel if someone came into your house and took away the television set because "She's too old to watch it, she'll grow out of it, not to mention she's a woman and should be in the kitchen anyways." (that's if your mom watches tv). Or some other form of entertainment of her's is taken away just because she shouldn't do it and she should be doing the social standards, since she's so hung up on them. ive done that be4

My parents used to take them away for punishment, but since I'm a good girl, (ie- don't get caught biggrin ) it hasn't happened for years.
But to take them away because you're a girl? Seriously wrong. That's like not letting your brother do dancing lessons because he's got reproductive organs outside his body.

My parents could care less about my gaming because my 19 year old brother is still a gamer too. : D
The only way they'd take away any of my systems is if I fail something in school... or get pregnant I guess. D:

UPDATE: I have my systems back, but now my mom takes all of them away from me at 7 pm D;
This is really starting to piss me off. I get them before she goes to work, and my dad or her takes them away at 7 pm. She barely lets me on my computer too. I feel punished for somethign I did not do crying

how are your grades? if u get bad grades, then i would understand the cerfew, but if u have good grades, then you should be entitled to enjoy your free time however u want. after all, if ur homework & chores are done on time, than what's the point of taking away your video games?
SERIOUSLY, ask your mom the hard questions and drag answers out of her. your mom will most likely give some stupid half-a** answer, but we need to know her reasoning before we can point out the flaws.
btw, what does she do in HER spare time? perphaps we can attack her hobbies.

outlaw trinidy Well for punishment I guess its ok, but just cause your to old, or cause your a girl, thats wrong, and sending the wrong message to kids I agree. If you screw up and do somthing dumb, I can see them taking it away for a while as a pnishment. They take it away at 7??? The evening is my prime-gaming time!!! You should tell her that if she keeps taking it all away, you might just have an anxiety attack.

Oh, I pity you so much luna. I myself have had my precious Vgames taken from me (although It never usually stops me from gaming wink ) but only for punishment. My mom knows I'm not the frilly-dress type anymore. I'm a tomboy, Nearly all my freinds are guys, And my favorite thing to do all day is be Immature and goof Off with my freinds.
oh my. Did I branch off subject? sorry.
but, anyway, Before it happens again, I suggest either hiding a gaming system (for example, a hand-held, like a psp or ds, or find a good spot for a smaller system, like a nintendo 64, or sega dreamcast) or, go to the mall and play the games there, or play freinds games. I do all of these. It helps when I'm grounded. apart from the 'go to a freinds house' one. I'm not allowed outside when I'm grounded.

Oh, that's horrible. Thank God my dad would never do such a thing. Everyone knows how much I like games, so if my dad ever took them away I don't know what I would do!
But... if he did take them away it wouldn't be because I'm "too old" or because I'm a girl. He bought my sisters and me our PS2, and he still likes the old X-Men cartoon. So being female and being too old would have nothing to do with it. I would probably have to do something wrong to get my games taken away, so if I deserved it then I really can't complain. sweatdrop

My parents would never do that....It's stupid! You should tell your parents that's there's actually studies that say playing video games make your brain function better (I read it in a article). You can never be to old to play video games....some people are 30 and they still play video games and they are perfectly normal people. Oh and I hate when people say "Your a girl you shouldn't be playing video games". That's stupidest thing i've ever heard....Why should boys get all the fun and girls only get to sit around and look pretty or go shopping?
Your parents are the weird and screwed up ones for taking away one of your main pleasures. They have no right to do that and they should feel bad for doing it.
