Not even when I scream, "GREAT GREEN GOBS OF GREASY, GRIMY GOPHER GUTS!" for no apparent reason? o.o
No, that's when we scold you for forgetting a comma.

Nice alliteration, though.

Waaait a minute. Don't they sing that in England? It's part of a gross little song beloved of middle-schoolers everywhere.

Everywhere over here, at least. >_>

We don't have gophers.

Also, our schoolchildren are far too refined. They spend their days learning how to dunk biscuits into tea so that the biscuit is perfectly dunked: not too soggy, not too dry. It's an art-form.

Pfff. talk2hand
Our school children are more likely to be found dunking their cookies into styrofoam cups of lukewarm fruit punch.

♪♪ Great green gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts,
Mutilated monkey meat,
Chopped up little birdy feet
Great green gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts,
--And I forgot my spoon! ♪♪

I think you're supposed to sing it to the tune of "The Old Gray Mare"

The Old Grey Mare?

What's that, precious?

(Huzzah for random Gollum impersonations).

It's another little song that apparently hasn't made it across the pond yet. xD

We have better songs. My favourite is this one:

Ring a ring o' roses,
a pocket full of posies;
aTISHoo, aTISHoo,
we all fall down.

It is (possibly) about dying from the plague. mrgreen

Also this one, which is about blowing up the government:

Remember, remember, the fifth of November;
gunpowder treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder and treason
should ever be forgot.

And:

I had a little nut tree,
nothing it would bear
But a silver nutmeg
and a golden pear.
The King of Spain’s daughter
came to visit me,
and all for the sake
of my little nut tree.

And:

Solomon Grundy
born on a Monday,
christened on a Tuesday,
married on a Wednesday,
took ill on Thursday,
worse on Friday,
died on Saturday,
buried on Sunday.
This is the end
of Solomon Grundy.

AND ONE OF THE BEST, mainly because you get to chop someone else's head off at the end:

“Oranges and lemons,”
say the bells of St. Clement’s.
“You owe me five fathings,”
say the bells of St. Martin’s.

“When will you pay me?”
say the bells of Old Bailey.
“When I grow rich,”
say the bells of Shoreditch.

“Pray, when will that be?”
say the bells of Stepney.
“I’m sure I don’t know,”
says the great bell at Bow.

Here comes the candle
to light you to bed.
Here comes a chopper
to chop off your head.

I've always heard the first one as:

Ring around the rosies
pockets full of posies,
ashes, ashes,
we all fall down.

Same idea though.

I think I've heard the Solomon Grundy song before, and the chopping off someone else's head one, too.

How 'bout:

All around the cobbler's bench
The monkey chased the weasel
The moneky thought t'was all in fun --
POP goes the weasel.

And one that's definitely an American song:

Yankee Doodle went to town
A'ridin' on his pony,
Stuck a feather in his hat
and called it Macaroni,

Yankee Doodle keep it up,
Yankee Doodle Dandy,
Mind the music and the step
and with the girls be handy

I think it dates back to the revolutionary war, and if I recall correctly, it was intended to be an insult to the American troops, but they liked the song so much that they started singing it.

Ring around the rosie:
Refers to the Bubonic Plague; the bubos were rosy red with a ring of black, and the corpses were burned in mass graves to stop it from spreading.
