Hye jvca you could borrow a book i have by S Ravenwolf, she talks a little about magic through music, the general idea is that by putting your intentions and thought into music it has greater meaning and stronger intention. It's also a stronger prayer for the goddess, and is better to use in group magic.

It does, if you ask me. If the music is good and the people around me are good I unplugg just the same by dancing.

I've found both music and dance excellent for working magick. They raise vast amounts of energy you just have to make sure, as with any magickal working, that you direct the energy correctly through intent if you are working towards a particular 'goal'.

something that ive noticed is when ever i listen to a particular piece of music i get huge chills up my spine and i feel really energised. my theory is that we each have a particular vibration and when the sound waves match it we get the huge pulse of energy or is that just this old fool?

That makes a lot of sense, certain songs do the same thing to me. On the flip side if the sound waves don't match it would certainly explain why other songs have the opposite effect on me. It's not that I don't like these songs either, they just make me feel low.

It depends on the individual. Dancing, at least for me, is the best way for me to work magick, perform rituals, etc. Music helps me achieve the state of being I need for dancing. For me, it is all connected.

@Holly: Is it 'To Ride a Silver Broomstick'? I've read a section on music and magick out of Jen's copy of the book...

Music is definately energy raising- and like Helmorana said- the more people, the more enery is raised. Dance is a form of movement, and if you take a look at energy raising spells, almost all, if not all, involve some form of movement.

---> Off-topic: As a coven, we did an energy raising spell earlier this year- it was a tree power spell- what it entailed was walking desoil around a tree, connected to each other by bright coloured scarves, and chanting an incantation. It was an amazing experience (as my first... and admittedly only energy raising spell), but the really neat thing is- the tree (a grapefruit tree) that we did it around stopped producing fruit about three years ago. This year, it's got more fruit on it than it ever has had.

Whoa... That might be a good idea for my mom/grans's garden... I think she energises the water she uses for the garden already, but... I'm not even sure what I'm thinking right now, but it's a good sketch razz

Darkrock64, kendo is a fighting discipline that uses a katana... I remember asking you if you train it once. I don't use my sword when I do spellwork. I feel no love for katanas, although they are beautiful and it takes A LOT more skill to appear elegant with a b*****d's sword. I've only known one person who managed it and he just quit swordfighting, his job and decided to become a priest. confused

As for energy raising connected to music, I don't have much experience, all I can really say is that about the concerts. I always say I'm addicted to them, maybe it's just the energy raised that draws me so much.

music for me is interesting, as it energises me when i listen to it, but when i listened to Live it occured to me, that music could be used quite effectivley for spells and prayers
