I personally think that thew fourth strain is pan-were.

pan-were is what chimera was. he could shape-shift into multiple forms...and my, what an effect.

sweatdrop I had to go back and figure out where she got lion as well. It says somewhere in danse macabre that she got it when she was attacked in NiC. When Gregory nearly made her into a leopard and also impaled her. xd

I agree (with the bold bit) that I had noticed that too. I was about half way done with the book and said to myself, "Self....think....wait...this is how many days and how many pages??? Wow....2 days for 200+ pages. Something seems wrong about that." blaugh

I got the book.
I read the book (roughly a 12hr read over two days).

And here are my opinions;
Firstly, I think the fact that the majority of the books is over a short span of time is mirrored in Stroke of Midnight which I don't think even touched a full day.. but that was the sithens fault but if Anita had a sithen it would have been the same dealy.
I think it worked, in both cases. And if there'd been a criminal case running alongside it, well, it wouldn't have worked.
At least at the end she gave a brief wrapup, though I would have enjoyed reading about the party instead.

Secondly, about the crime stuff, I woulda liked to have seen something even though that wouldn't have worked within the time frame. An Anita Blake book without a crime scene, without Zerbrowski or Dolph, just doesn't seem right.
I guess she thought covering it with more sex seemed to work for her just aswell.. well, I disagree.

Thirdly, lets touch on that sex subject.
Even though I ain't big on the whole male/male action thing (even though I do watch Queer As Folk), to see Asher and Jean Claude apart for so long did seem kind of wrong and at least now Anita has finally opened her eyes to that.. I just wish I hadn't of seen the Auggie scene before that.

But hey, this does bring up my fourth point.. the more mature Anita, and without the calming Damion influence. (And I apologise if I spelt Damion's name wrong but I still have Daemon in my head for other reasons lol.)
A mature Anita was definetly needed in this book and I'm glad she pulled it off so dang well.. It was even almost believeable.

Which brings to point five... god damn Richard is looking extremly thumpable at this point. Any points he gained during the last book have now been taken away. Hot damn that guy is so god damn.. well.. kinda depressing. I hope they find a way to get rid of him soon, however I don't see that as likely.

Now for some randomness, I think.

Baby: woot for it's nonexistance.
A baby would have screwed the whole series up. I think, if it had really come to be, it would have made me put down the series as much as it would having seen Edward and Anita doing the nasty.
The reactions of the blokes was as I would have expected though, right down to white picket fence Richard.

Lupa: I think she should step down as that. I know this point is random but I'm hoping to raise a valid point.. as long as Anita keeps this position, Richard is going to keep going among the humans and not choose another wolf.

Male on male action: I wish it were avoidable but, sadly yet gladly, it's not. I too thought Jean Claude and Asher were having it on behind Anita's back and now she's finally opening her eyes to it and maybe letting 'em have a little of the old spark back.

Haven: Good character, but I'm glad she sent him packing. And you can't compare Haven to Micah, it ain't fair to either character.
Haven didn't rape her, for starts. If anything? She raped him by having him explode into the lion.
And, by sending him packing, she won't have the lions to look after as she does the leopards. Too many lycanthropes spoil the broth.

Speaking of, woot for Asher and the Hyenas.

Anyway, back to random..

London: I liked him. I like him better than I liked Requiem when he first appeared.
However, giving the addict some more drugs is not a very good idea no matter how well it sounds right now.

More assertive Nathaniel, I approve. I especially approve of the Ronnie getting put back in her box scene.

Marme Noir: She made her impressions felt in as dramatic a way as possible, approving nod here.

One more thing before I go...
I'm glad Anita isn't superwoman yet.. even though she is damn close.
Afterall, Asher can still roll her. The day he can't... well, bring on Marme Noir. lol

Anita almost escaped the triumverates and I totally applaud her effort.
I mean, imagine that. lol
Of course, she'd have prolly died straight after.. and Damian very nearly did.. so did Nathaniel come to that.. but hot damn. lol
