Unlike the majority belief, Kinami wasn't an idiot. She had seen Sarara limping in, and she had caught the nuances in her performance that said something was up. She was worried over the little squirt, but trusted her to not get too far in over her head before her body language began to give her troubles away.
Instead, she turned to her immediate problem. "Alright, Chiemi, I'm going to say this once. If you become a jounin, I'll tell you ever secret I know about getting around, alright?"
Kinami shot a look at Hideyo. "And if I find out that you've helped her, I will not be amused." When she was serious and getting annoyed, Kinami had heard she could be pretty scary.

Chiemi's crimson, blood-red eyes lit up as Kinami offered her the wisdom if she did well. "Really Kinami-sama? I'll be sure to..." She trailed off. Suddenly her fist pounded the table, "Hey!!" She shouted, "Does that mean you think I'll never become a jounin!?" She crossed her arms angrily. Chiemi was not toying this time, this time she was actually pissed.

Kinami blinked. "No, I believe that you won't stop at Jounin. I think you'll get the farthest you can, no matter what, and I've thought that ever since I met you. Did you think that you'd never make it to Jounin level?" she shot back with a raised eyebrow.

Chiemi's rage immediately subsided, now a confused and passive expression overcame her. "Well... Um... My Gramps said I never would and uh... He tends to be pretty accurate with his assumptions. In other words I'm pretty much doomed to remain either a genin or chuunin. That's what Gramps told me..." She then looked to the ground disappointedly.

A fire burned behind Kinami's eyes. "Oh really, did he? Well, I've got news for you. As soon as you become Gennin, I'm going to make sure you make it to at least jounin, if not higher." She raised a fist and glared at the ceiling. "Take that, you no good old geezer!"

Sararin stared at the Kage with amusement. "Wait, aren't the Genin tests coming up soon?" Her stomach growled loudly. "And where's our food?" She said with a pitiful look.

As if she spoke the magical words, chefs began to walk out laden with trays filled with all sorts of delicacies on them. The majority of the platters were set in front of Kinami, but the others got their meals as well.
Kinami rubbed her hands together in anticipation. "Methinks that the gennin exams are coming up, yes, but I'm unsure as to whether we'll have any participants this time 'round." She began to dig into her meal.

Chiemi seemed somewhat depressed now, her gramps had never been wrong about his rankings... She'd be lucky if she made it to chuunin-rank... Chiemi closed her crimson, blood-red eyes and deeply inhaled followed by a rather loud sigh. She then slunked back into her seat and began slumping down it until she was under the table.

"Oi! Chiemi!" Sararin said as Chiemi slid under. She wobbled over and tried to pull Chiemi up. "Are you alright?" She asked. "You know you can talk to any of us if you need to!"

Chiemi knew that she could talk to them, but she did not wish to. She was somewhat constricted, she could talk about this and yet she could not bring herself to speak of it. Chiemi simply gazed emotionlessly at the floor and nodded for her reply to Sararin.

Kinami looked up from her food. "Hey, if somethings got your shirt in a knot, talk about it. But I'm serious about that jounin thing. I once had a friend who said I wouldn't be a ninja. And now look at me."
When Chiemi just nodded, Kinami picked up a fork and tossed it with deadly accuracy at Chiemi's head.

Chiemi, with her eyes closed, took longer to detect the flying protectile being launched at her than she normally would. Her Gramps had trained her not to rely solely upon her sight, otherwise she would have been "forked" in the head. Instead, though, her swift reflexes and fairly keen hearing caught the sound of the thrown fork and she caught it just before it hit her. "That's you... Was your friend an expert in taijutsu and your sensei?"

Sararin looked at Chiemi with dismay. "Alright. Just... don't beat yourself up, okay?" she said with a sigh. "Kage-onee-sama! Don't throw forks at people!"
Do I really have any right to say 'don't worry?' I'm betraying these people as it stands. I shouldn't be helping them... she thought with a depressed air. She smiled and went back to her seat.

Kinami ignored Sararin for the moment and stared at Chiemi. "It doesn't matter if he's a taijutsu master, or a ninjutsu master, or anything. I think that of all the people here in this village, I have the most right to judge how far people could go."
She set her utensils down, half way through her food. She gave Chiemi a pointed look. "It took me five years to make it past the academy. It took my friend not even a year. I was a gennin for three years, she was one for two. She became a gennin before I did, and I struggled to make it past chunnin. Yet here I am, the leader of an entire village, and at a higher rank than she ever was."
"If you think that your grandpa will always be right, whatever credentials he has, he will always be right. If you believe that you will make your own destiny, you will, and you will be a great ninja for it. It's all up to you. Are you really going to give up before you know how far you can go? Are you really going to just lie down and prove everyone right without at least trying to change it?"
