Thanks! whee
Yes, of course you can use crystal jewelery. I've seen loads of it about; and aren't diamond rings made from an original crystal? 3nodding
As for making it less pure; I've no idea.. sweatdrop I'll try and research that for you.

... My mom collects crystals too. The first one she ever got for me was an amethyst, a pendant, so I suppose there's nothing wrong with jewelery. At least nobody ever said anything about it. However, I think there should be a difference between the crystals you use for spellwork and the crystals you use for influences over your life.

not to be a pain, but cyrstal, gemstones and minerals are formed by differnt elemental, geological and chemical events, which is why they are called differnt things. so.. calling a gemstone a cyrstal is misleading, both because of physical, and magical properties. they hold energies differently, or even partain to differnt elements.

o_O Alright, thanks for that. Another mod must have edited this post - before, the title was "...to do with crystals".
I'll change it back.

I changed it after Istha posted that. Not all of the stones that are talked about in this thread are crystals. It's a mixture of both. Maybe include both in the title?

Um, hi, I'm new here, so, maybe I shouldn't be typing, but I think another important crystal is Black Tourmaline, also known as Schorl........

Does rainbow moonstone have any different qualities (magickally speaking) than regular moonstone? I have a large chunk of that in a ring that I LOVE. Come to think of it I have a LOT of stones... This is my rainbow moonstone: Sorry for the crappy quality =P I used my phone to take these pictures... Some of these stones I have had for so many years. What about the mineral Mica? I have that, and some Galena, I have googled for their magickal properties with no success =( Finally found an answer to my question =DMica is the second greatest conductor of magnetic energy next to the human brain. Since we are inundated with excess electrical energy in our environments, extra magnetic energy can help to balance the electromagnetic field of the body. Galena Harmony and holistic studies are both bolstered by the use of the stone. Galena is a primary source of lead, and as such is not recommended for internal use (such as making gem elixirs). It is a "stone of harmony" and brings healing, calmness, efficiency, receptivity, communication, and insight.

chilecavy~guineapig I'll have to find a good store to buy gemstones. I bought a lot online, though by doing that you dont get to feel the stone before buying it, but its cheaper for nicer stones and more variety, so if you find a crystal or stone that doesn't get along with you, you can always give it to a friend and it only cost you like twenty nine cents, or two bucks. I was able to find a website that sold raw gemstones, so I have some raw saphire and emeralds and watermelon ruby, azurite berries, etc.

Aurellion --Crystal Cleansing-- Crystal cleansing is incredibly important. If you don’t: they will soak up too much negative energy and potentially break. ninja Make sure you cleanse your crystal after you've bought it: it's come to you to start afresh, so give it that oppurtunity and get rid of it's history. ^_^ The most common method is to leave it outside on the earth for a day and a night. Make sure that the moon and sun get to it. Another way, is to run it under water. This could be water from a tap, in the ocean, or in a stream. ...what? That’s it? I’m afraid so. If you want another way to cleanse, check out JVCA’s thread here. Also, if i may add...it is not wise to leave some crystals out in the sun for long periods of times (such as amethyst) because they will fade and will change color. Just though that should be mentioned.
