I was in a GLBTQ parade in Burlington, VT in 2000 when all the Civil Unions stuff was going on. Showin' my support for Outright Vermont and stuff. 3nodding

Woo! Damn, girl. I miss Vermont so bad sometimes. I'm hoping to spend a week or so back up at home this summer/fall before or just after the move to NYC and just BEFORE I start (i hope) a job there...

If you do, we'd BETTER hook up this time! I miss youuu~

I know. I suck butt. I totally didn't end up with as much free time as I wanted to when I was home last... it doesn't help that my poor mother is so lonesome for her two kids that she wants to spend every waking moment with us when we're home (especially TOGETHER like last time). She's so cute... Hell, next time, we'll go out for DRINKS after she goes to sleep if we have to. I WILL get in touch. We WILL hang out. I haven't seen ANYONE from VT in the longest time!!!

I have been to:

Three Anti War Ralleys (chicago, one fifteen mile March)

Four Weekly vigils

To Pride Parades

One Day of Silence (yeah, we have a thread about those)

Two Walk Outs

And I spread Propaganda on a weekly basis.

Yeah, i'd say I've protested before. Chicago is a liberal town, unfortunately I live in the conservative suburbs. My fondest memory was on the peace march through the western suburbs. We walked through a town called wheaton where the cops just hurrassed us. Anyway, we walked passed a house with several Signs.

Support the Troops, Bush Cheney 04 (two signs), Alan Keyes,etc....

I looked in the window while over 100 people marched by it. The family just looked out with shock on there faces. The Alan Keyes Sign had falling down. I stepped on the lawn and picked up the sign and put it back up. I saluted the family who stared at us, and rejoined the march.

I went to my first rally on March 20, 2005, and it certainly won't be my last! ^_^
It was an anit-war rally on Boston Common, followed by an unpermitted march that was going to go to Harvard Square, but the cops ended up breaking out an unprovoked riot during the march. Sheesh, they're supposed to be keeping riots down, not starting them! stressed

I'm hoping to go to more anti-war, pro-choice, anti-gun, pro-homosexual rights, etc. rallies, virgils, marches and such as soon as I can track down some in my area.

If not I'll get some info on sweatshops, make up som flyers on the issue, and sit outside Wal-Mart and the Dollar Store handing them out.

Also, next time military recruiters are at my school I'll make some flyers on the dangers of the military and stalk the recruit while handing out the flyers.

Even ifI can just change a few peoples views, hopefully the cycle will spread, and it can make a true difference. 3nodding

I'm in the middle of doing some research about the war in Iraq, and honestly I'm afraid to do any kind of prostest; I don't want it to seem like I don't support the soldiers that are over there because they're always in my thoughts and prayers.

I've never heard of any kind of prostest being done over here, at least not at school. If anyone knows about anything going on in the NC Triad area, let me know?

There have been a couple of things that I've done at my school...Two years now there has been a day of silence for people who support gay/bi/lesbian/transexuals. I'm in the middle of redneckville so it doesn't get a lot of support outside the arts department.

Hehe.... I'm going to my second proteest this Sunday. It's a rally thing being held at the local military recruitment station. It's only small scale... yet a protest nonetheless. blaugh
