Doubt it. The UK release came at least a year or two before the Mega collection, maybe longer.
Which is why Yami wonders whether it's a bootleg. I agree, after that description, it does sound more likely. Like the Sonic X bootlegs, which certainly do have artwork from Mega Collection on them.
