PhilosophyMind So, what kind of music does everyone listen to? I know several people have already covered this, briefly, in their introductions, but why not share more bands? Artists? Some of the artists I enjoy are as follows: AFI Adam Ant All American Rejects Bombay Vikings Beck Carbon Leaf Dropkick Murphys Distorted Penguins Everclear Flogging Molly Fever Gaelic StormJah Roots Mindless Self Indulgence Mae Mad Caddies The Faint The Killers The Cure Young Dubliners There's quite a few more, but I'm pressed for time and I need to get ready to get to my friend's house. BEFORE I GO! Anything Music related can go here. Links. Essays. Pictures. Etc. Music. Yay. -does a little dance- I love Gaelic Storm! your the first person I've met who does too!

Really? How funny! I found them at the library in the Cultural section. My friend happened to know who they were too, though, so I wasn't completely without someone to discuss their awesome-ness. Hehe.

i like the dropkick murphys! gaelic storm looks like something i'll have to try out now. i just yesterday bought a cd from a group called 'the deviations project'. from what i've listened to, they take many songs that you've heard in movies, or commercials or shows and sort of re-do them with a nice string orchestra. i hearts violins smile

Ooh, I'll have to look them up.
I love the Kronos Quartet and I'm going out to find their album Pieces of Africa later this week.
Last night I got to see Of Montreal live and it was AMAZING. I wanted to kidnap the lead singer, Kevin, because he was just so tiny and cute. whee And the guitarist Bryan was adorable too, what with these pink wings he was wearing. -bounces about- But the band that opened for them was called Loney, Dear and they were this cute little band from Sweden. There was this one guy that we ended up nicknaming Mr. Antagonist who was this hold, drunk man wearing a red felt cap with horns on it that leaned over the balcony and shouted "YOU SUCK!" repeatedly at Loney, Dear several times and then came down to the pit and proceeded to yell it again. We just kind of stared at him and contemplated jumping on him and beating him. It was uber ridiculous.
Yay for concerts! Anyone been to a concert lately? I went to The Faint concert last week too. I've been in a concert going state recently. Hehe. 3nodding

I do wonder...how many people on here (or rather, people that will read this thread) use MP3 players, portable CD players, or are the ultimate old school (in relation to my generation) and use portable Cassette players?
I'm out of MP3 players (I had a small 152 Meg player that I got for free from a contest and a 5 Gig Dell DJ and they both died. The sodering on the head phone jack just died -.0 ) so I'm downgrading to my old portable CD players (well, my sister's actually, because mine doesn't even hold the batteries properly and has to be fixed with tape to use).
But anyway...I feel old school... biggrin

That's because listening to vinyl is teh awesome. 3nodding
I usually listen to my parents' vinyls when I'm in my father's art studio working on stuff because he took his CD player to his school and all that's down there now is the turn table/radio.
Does anybody here listen to any Hindi music?

Mmmmm, I enjoy Indian themed music on occasion.
When I have lots of energy I go for the gypsy music, especially Gogol Bordello recently. 3nodding

OMIGOSH I heart Gogol Bordello hardcore!!!! I first heard them in my 3-D Design class last semester, because it was in the sculpture lab, and it was the day that they'd decided to pour bronze molds. So in the background is this Russian/Gypsy/Punk music and in front of us is this molten lava like substance that looked as if humans had finally harnessed the power of the gods! And everyone was running around doing their job and, and, AND IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
eek
It was one of those moments where the music fits in perfectly with everything. I think the only ever times I've had that happen were:
A.) I was reading Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce and in the background, as I was reading a crucial scene, the song "The One" by the Backstreet Boys came on and the lyrics and the song fit in PERFECTLY (as pathetic as that is), and
B.) When I was listening to The Postal Service, walking home from the store last summer, and happiness just hit me like a brick and I skipped home.
I love moments like those.
