Aya Brea in Parasite Eve 2.
If you haven't played this yet, I strongly suggest you do so.
You know how in Resident Evil, you can click on background objects and get dull descriptions like "Just a box. Nothing useful," or "Books on various chemicals. None of them seem useful."
Well, PE2 has that, but instead of being dull and uninteresting, Aya actually describes them to you in her own words. You go into a bathroom and see a mirror. Click on the mirror and she'll say "Here's lookin' at you, kid." and then talk about how her mitochondria has kept her young because a young and fit host is preferable, and how she fears that maybe she'll live forever as a result of this, and see all of the people she cares about grow old and die.
Or, maybe you walk by a window and click on it, and she'll say something like "Wait, was that a face out there just a second ago? It's gone now, but I still feel like I'm being watch" etc.
The amount of care and detail put into this aspect of the game is great, and it goes a long way toward defining her as a character.
