Um... Did you all know that your schools can buy it and put it on as a real high school musical ::shivers:: I am so afriad.

Thank goodness my drama teacher would NEVER DO THAT! I know him well enough to know he wouldn't do a piece of crap like that.

...I like Grease. crying

My ex-best friend mad eme watch HSM OVER and OVER and OVER. @@ She's obsessed. I'll admit, it does have one or two good songs, but the rest is just happy, sappy, go bubble gum.

And I KNOW happy-sappy...>.> Did not like it.

Disney is awesome. Disney Channel, however, is starting to give Disney a bad name, with their stupid movies.

Well, apparently I don't hate HSM as much as you do, but I think it's pretty stupid. And now it's coming to the stage (with two additional songs). Lucky me- I get to play Skater#6 in it, this December. If I didn't plain-out love my theatre so much, I wouldn't have shown up to those auditions. It was thirty girls, a few theatre guys, and a few gay guys. Just about everyone got cast. Ugh.

I'll have fun laughing at it, that's for sure, but HERE'S the good side: us theatre kids'll do our best to make it better, and do it as right as it can be done.

I didn't think it was the worst movie ever, but it wasn't great either

Yeah, my director really wants to do High School Musical next year. And it'll be my last chance to do a musical at my school, so it's gonna be torture...

But I like to think about it this way:
A bunch of crazy thespian kids being asked to "please do a musical none of you want to do, in which all you have to do is be CHEESY". Yeah, it'll be fun, if we try to make it fun.

Hey, we did that at my school a couple years ago.
It was called 'the Boyfirend' and it was terrible.
But we made it great. I helped a great deal.

This might sound a little harsh, but watching the brief segments of HSM and having to listen to it **my fiance's 14 year old brother watches it constantly** my soul kinda died a little bit. It was worse than any musical episode of any tv show. And as for the person who asked what happened to old school Disney? I have no idea but I wish they would bring it back. talk2hand i miss the good old days....

[ Amputated Freckle ]
It's better than a lot of Disney TV movies, but that's not saying a lot : P

I might have liked the movie better if they hadn't dared to call it a musical

And the "theater people" had the worst voices in the whole thing

I think they shoudl go see a real musical before trying to make one
lol and notice, that it's not really about a musical. The movie ends after callbacks!!! stressed

One of our rival schools is doing it. It is a complete joke. I mean, its cool for little girl and boys...when they're in 3rd grade. I do believe that disney could have done a better job...and not computerized the voices. theres nothing i hate more than "singers" in movies that don't actual sing while filming. jerks.
well, it made a laughing stock out of the rival school, so i'm happy. and we totally out did them with our production of 42nd street. so xp to you rival highschool and HSM.

Ooh, I hate that movie with a passion.

Have you seen all the flicking merchandise out there? There's a board game. There's jewellery. There's a book.

I mean, WTH? The singing is horrible, the plot is worse, and it's so cliche.

I mean, how did it get to be so popular?

But is it better than Fame or Grease?

Exactly! As much as we may be sitting around hating and dispising it, High School Musical is just like those movies. At least, unlike Grease, it's set in the time period it was written for. Admittadly only "children" under the age range of the students portrayed will actually admire them... at least age range mentally. Unfortunately, it will be rated among chilren/youth movies as one of the best of it's time... and this is partially due to everyone that saw it even if they hated it (curiousity does kill sometimes... at least as far as the box office is concerned.) The country has matured at a different rate, and I applaud Disney for trying to recapture some of that lost youth, but it's really passe'.

well I have nothing against the movie. (Some of the music is actually pretty catchy.) But you know, things like that can only last for so long....and no offense to them, but I think they're pushing there luck on the sequel. I mean, sure the 1st one was a crowd pleaser. But one success like that won't gaurantee a breakthrough in a second one.

I think the only people who will enjoy the sequel will be preteens and little kids. At that point I'm pretty sure everyone has moved on from it.

Oh yes, I have heard of it...hasn't everyone?! Well anyway, the singing is pitafull, and I really don't understand why girls swoon over Zack Effron or how ever you spell it, his voice makes my ears bleed, and the plot is terrible! I just need to get that off my chest...
