The giant gorilla had been unaware of anyone else around him during his 'moment' with the beer can, so the sound of Aislinn's voice jarred him from a morose state of mind.

"Huh?" he lifted his head. "Oh...right...yeah, seems the girlier the better," he forced a soft laugh and smile.

"And there's nothing to apologise for. I didn't know I was going to about either. I mean, I was sleeping in a tree the other night, lost in the jungle somewhere," he recalled, his tone at least a little more jovial.

But during his little shat, he kept grimacing and pig-grunting lightly. His left leg twitched uncontrollably. He stretched it out until it was practially poker-straight, still un-nerved by the fact he now had a thumb on his foot instead of a big toe. With a heavy sigh, he began to rub his knee, hoping to relieve some of the old complaint.

Marshall continued to sip on his soda, watching the others. People (or, now, Animal People) Watching was some times much more entertaining than actually being social.

...This only applied in small doses for Marshall.

"Okay! Lets see...Gaius is getting the food, we got Karaoke, a large ammount of carbonated beverages, a topless horse woman and two walking can-openers!" he said, motioning to Oz and Himself for that last bit, "I think we got a party going on now!"

Speak of the devil, or black horse-man as it were, the sound of hooves clopping back up the path could be heard. A mound of stacked plates and to-go boxes with a couple black wings peaking over the top came waddling into view. Apparantly Gaius had practically cleaned out the cafeteria for the barbecue, judging by the selection of foods clutched in his arms.

He reached the grass just as some of the lower plates started to slide from his grip, the mass teatering dangerously. "A little help here!" he yelped. An attempt to shift some of the boxes back into place caused a bag of apples to spill out onto the grass, and a slice of raw fish slipped down from the pile to land across Gaius's muzzle. "Quick, before I lose it!"

Oz cocked an eyebrow and looked at Marshall, chuckling. He continued to massage his leg, his foot twitching occasionally.

"Yeah, all we need now is the lousy DJ and some glow-sticks," he chortled, emitting a strange chuckling sound that didn't sound human at all.

He had to be careful using sarcasm and irony, since these were concepts sometimes not understood by other cultures. Last thing Oz wanted were bad impressions and enemies.

Content that his leg had stopped twitching, at least for now, he left it outstretched and practiced flexing his his toes and 'foot-thumb'. He chewed his tongue in thought and picked up a stray twig. He held it in front of his foot and tried to grasp it. The level of concentration on Oz's face was somewhat earth-shattering in intensity, but side-splitting in hilarity.

But the clattering cocophony that was Gaius' approach broke his mantra, and he made a quick dash to the equine's aid. With large hands, he caught a box from Gaius' grip.

((Before anyone eats my face, Marshall invited me *points to the pengu man* I have no problem with leaving if I must, but I was invited.))

Daytime. Oy, that annoying time when everything was so bright, so hot. Sophie had come to prefer the evening hours to any form of daytime activity, and so as she had begun to transform over the past few months, she had seen her regular 'daytime' friends less and less, until she just lost track of them. Sure, there were other nocturnal animals around, but she tended to steer clear, as most of them had claws and fangs and other predatorial attributes she did not enjoy.

So, why was she awake? To put it simply, she had woken up. Groggy, yes, but there was no going back to sleep for at least an hour or two, and being in that sleepful state of mind, she decided to take a nice walk. Well, more like hop: she couldn't very well alternate feet anymore when moving, but it didn't bother her so much as realizing that, when she began her stroll, there were people. Lots of people. Normally these people weren't up at this time of night, and...oh, right. It was daytime. Shaking her head, she rubbed a paw through her hair, all form or curl gone from it. She doubted any old friends would recognize her now: had it been a week since the final change? Two? It didn't matter: there seemed to be a ruckus up ahead.

She hadn't talked to the others in quite a while: to her knowledge, both Gaius and Marshall were still at the halfway mark of 50 percent, and chances were, they hadn't heard much about her either. So, it came to her surprise when she found the group, in full feathery and furry glory, enjoying a day in the sun.

She was glad she had her shirt on, and a god pair of shorts: it seemed that a certain centaur didn't feel the same way about clothing. Wiping her eyes to make sure she wasn't dreaming, she quietly waved a paw. "Hey, guys. Long time, no see, eh?"

"Thanks, pal!" Gaius grinned around the pile of foods, the fish still clinging atop his muzzle. With some effort and a good deal of grunting, the food was finally piled on the grass by the grill. Gaius started unloading plates, naming off foods as he went.

"Let's see... I got some steaks just because you have to have a steak at a barbecue, got some pork, and some chicken - quiet Marshall, you don't have to eat it - some hotdogs I hope I might be able to stomach, some fish," Gaius picked the meat off his nose and waved it for show, "which I dunno how well will cook on a grill, but we can always hope! Also got some buns, apples - though most of them fell on the ground - and some other random fruits and veggies. People like carrot sticks and celery, right?"

Standing back up, Gaius grinned proudly. He'd managed to pick out a pretty good selection for the variety of diets present, or at least he thought so!

A thought struck Gaius, who looked over at the gorilla-man. "Oh! Oz, I thought you might like these!" Digging something out of one of the styrofoam boxes of fruits, Gaius tossed his prize over to Oz - ...a bunch of bananas. Gaius' grin widened, totally unaware of any faux pas he just committed.

Marshall slapped his feathered forehead. He refused to believe his adopted older brother was this stupid. It was impossible. But yet, he had just handed a box of Bananas to Oz, who was less than happy about transforming. Terrific.

While Marshall would've found the humor in the gift, he had learned the hard-way that most Islanders were not so keen on the whole transforming process, and reminders only managed to piss them off. This was a hard lesson to learn for the Penguin, as he had indeed been beaten to a bloody pulp by Jamal on several occasions because of this.

Luckily, just in the nick of time before any insults (or fist) could be thrown, Sophie showed up.

"Heya Sophie!" Marshall said enthusiastically.

Oz carried the box, trying his best to keep his balance and walk upright like the human he used to be. Thank god he didn't have to walk far. He placed the box down and watched as Gaius unpacked things randomly. Oz had become blissfully unaware of his 'nakedness' - well, did you really think an 800lb gorilla bum was gonna stay inside men's jeans? - but he needn't worry too much. All of his abdomen and backside was quite furry, it was just the concpet of being naked and in front of female company that bothered him.

His slowly lightening mood hit rock bottom as he was handed the bananas though. He wasn't violent by nature, and usually very gentle when he's sober. But he felt bitter about Gaius' gift. Was it a joke? Or was Gaius just dense?

Oz pig-grunted, a way of showing annoyance for wild gorillas, but accepted the bananas gracefully.

"Errr....thanks. I'm not that...hungry...right now...but maybe later," he tried to smile honestly. He took the small bunch of banana's back with him to his seated spot.

Pondering a more immediate use for them instead being eaten, he tested himself. Grasping a banana firmly in one foot, he tried to coordinate the other to peel it.

Not happening.

Aislinn waved at Sophie as she joined the rest of the group, finishing her fuzzy navel and waving at the assorted mixed drink ingredients,
"No takers? Wait, was that a yes or a no for a girly drink, Oz m'love?" she asked, sipping at her own. Needed more...well, something. She mixed in a little more of everything and sipped again. Ah....well, good enough.

"No drinks for me, thanks," Sophie replied, her muzzle wrinkling at the thought before trying her best to sit down and not doing a very good job of it. So, with a sigh, she relented to leaning back on her tail, which was much more comfortable than any of the previous attempts at human sitting.

"So, um..." Sophie tried to start a conversation, but found that her social skills were even more awkward than before. So much had likely happened since she'd last spoken with any of them: she wondered in her slight social paranoia if they'd even noticed her gradual disappearance.

"What's up? Other than the sky, of course."

Gaius gave Oz an honest smile, unable to read the gorrilla's annoyance, and went over to the grill to throw on a couple sausages onto the barbecue. Maybe he'd have one of Aislinn's drinks later, but cooking came first!

An ear twitched, hearing Sophie. He hadn't seen her in ages! Not since a couple changes ago, wasn't it? A smile brightening his muzzle, he turned around to greet her and paused, surprised by her suddenly animal-like appearance. Last he recalled, her tail hadn't been nearly that long, and her face... well, at least the hair was still mostly the same, if a bit longer. He waved a hoof, suddenly feeling rather shy. "Hey Soph, been a while! Uh, see anything you like? We got plenty!"

Sophie waved the idea of food away with a casual pass of paw: "No thanks, I ate a few hours ago." She paused to look at the food selection: how this much meat could be among a group of herbivores, a bird, and a monkey was beyond her, but she supposed it was one of those 'to each their own' situations.

With a lazy hop, she positioned herself beside Gaius, shyly smiling. Perhaps it was their current similarity in face (Sophie thought of herself more as a bunny-horse than a kangaroo), or perhaps it was just mere familiarity, but Sophie felt at ease with him, more than the others.

"The wings look good, Gaius," she said, once again feebly attempting to start a conversation. Transforming had been a humbling experience, and where she saw Gaius as a rather majestic creature, she felt deformed, defiled, and disabled. Of course, her paws worked fine as hands, but her mind didn't really grasp that aspect of it all.

Oz was lost in a world of his own, just getting more and more frustrated with himself. His fleshy brow furrowed and he evern bared his teeth in irritation. After three squashed bananas and all the patience he could muster, he entered the real world again.

"Huh? Oh yeah...I'm absolutely parched," he said, addressing Aislinn. "Nothing but friggin stagnant water in the jungle."

Thats when he noticed the petite kangaroo-girl. Without a second thought, he waved to her - with his foot.

If Gaius had still had human skin, they would've been able to see the blush that flamed his cheeks. As it was, the way his ears twitched back and his neck arched were more than enough to display his sheepish nature. Despite all his time on the island and in the presence of who knows how many women of varying degrees of modesty, he was still the shy man he'd always been.

He managed a smile, looking at her out of the side of one of his eyes, and flexed a wing self-consciously. "Y-you really think so? I thought they were kinda bulky, myself..." He turned to look her over more closely, noting how the changes had touched her. It seemed she had her own difficulties, just like the rest of them. "You look good!" he said honestly. "I think the fur suits you... and, well... your ears are really cute..." He raised a hoof and absently stroked one of them before realizing what he was doing and jerked the hand back, looking ashamed. "I-I'm sorry! I d-didn't mean to..."

"'I think the fur suits you?' Well, that's certainly a compliment I've never heard before." She grinned, shyness pushed aside. It didn't bother her, in all actuality: fur meant you didn't have to worry about extra clothing. Her ears twitched sharply, though, as he gently (or as best as he could with hooves) touched them. Weakly, she laughed, turning away. "It's okay. I-well, you know, they kinda looked a tad plushie to me..."

She looked for a diversion of sight, and found it in Oz. Smiling at his deftness of foot, she too attempted to lift her over-sized foot in a wave. However, it threw her off balance, and forward she went, her weak arms barely enough to hold her face from getting to ground. Awkwardly, she managed to stand again, and then decided to wave with a hand. "Note to self: buny-horses can not wave with their two-foot-long feet."
