Sirena listened to the female's words in silence, mulling over them with careful wisdom. So the wolf was suffering from a memory loss? She exhaled noisily, the cool air of night misting before her muzzle. Then swivelling her ears forwards once more and focused her eyes on the stars above, their shiny jewels reflected in her dark orbs.

Tae wanted to hear something of comfort, something to assure her that in time things would get better. Perhaps this was true for some wolves, but as for herself. Never. There could never be a male such as hers, one with incredible pride, love and strength. For a male he had also been rather intelligent - this had annoyed her at first - but in time she had learned to outwit even him. A small, faint smile curved her maw, the gesture hidden from sight as it graced her features.

Then finally she found the words.

"Never." She replied slowly, the smile dissapearing as she dragged her eyes from the sky to glance into the cave. "My heart has been blackened from the experience." She paused and sighed, "however it may be different for you Tae." She spoke the name unsurely before continuing. "You cannot remember and so it will be easier to forget and move on."

What would it be like to forget one you loved? Sirena didn't dare even think about how empty the other wolf must feel at this moment in time.

Sirena angled her head towards the female for a brief moment, ears twitching in the direction of her voice as she spoke. There was something in her voice that sounded familiar in her own, a sense of loss and sadness that emanated within her own soul.

She was surprised to hear the name Dagda mentioned and her eyes glittered with interest. That male had confused her so, and yet he had gained her curiosity. He was so secretive and calm yet at the same time capable of erratic emotions. She curved her tail to rest against one hind leg and turned her attention to the outside once more. It seemed Tae was ready to sleeP and the words of trust seemed muffled to her. How could that female expect her to trust anyone, after all the backstabbing wolves she had met? Trust was a luxury she couldn't have.

She turned blurry eyes up to the stars once more and their faint twinkling brought a great comfort to her. No matter how much she felt alone, the stars above would protect her, especially her own mate's star.

"Kafara." She whispered quietly, the word barely audible and with a huff she lowered her forelegs until her chest was resting against the ground, muzzle craddled in her paws.

A fury burned through her as she stood her ground, body trembling as she met head to head with two wolves she had helped, two wolves she had taken into her home and brought them up in rank. How dare they do this! To her, their alpha! She wouldn't allow it! A rage that had long been tamed by the love of her mate returned in full force, flooding her senses and sending her whole being aflame. She would kill them all, tear them to pieces and watch as they bled upon the spiteful ground. And she would enjoy it!

She growled menacingly and leapt, forepaws outstretched as she soared towards her opponents. Then everything went black, a spray of red lashing up against the sudden darkness. A squeak of a whimper filled her ears, the taste of wolf blood drowning her senses.

Sirena woke with a jolt, almost instantly leaping to her feet, eyes darting from side to side to take in her surroundings, her breath ragged. Then finally her eyes settled on the female close beside her. Could it be...Floriene? No.

Her mind returned to reality and she backed up a little until she was pressed against the wall of the cave. It was just Tae. Memories flooded back to her and she tried to gain control of the emotions that had escaped in her panic.

Tae had turned her head sharply when then was a sudden movement in Ren beside her. She was taken by the sudden movement and tensed her muscles to react, though when Ren backed away onto the wall she relaxed.

‘They haunt you too then…’ Tae knew Ren had dreamt something, she would never of woken in such a manner otherwise. She choose not to question the wolf on her dreams, they were her own after all and if you wanted to express them she would in her own time. She remained calm, as always, like a still body of water on a summers day. She didn’t fix Ren with her gaze, she was intend on looking out of the cave’s month at the promise of a fair day. She spoke with a smoothing voice.

‘Will you walk with me today or do you have to be elsewhere Ren?’ She was going to make a fleeting joke on the issue of attacking her in her sleep but thought it wasn’t appropriate and so just left it at that.

She growled softly, the sound reverberating in the remnants of her chest as she remained fixed where she was, eyes upon Tae all the while. The trust that seemed to have been gained between them was hanging by a thread, a little too much tension and it would break as easily as dawn on a summer's morning.

"Nothing haunts me." She snapped, ears swivelling forwards as she stood and glanced outside of the cave. "Nothing haunts me..." She repeated as a whisper, more to herself than anyone. Then she took a step forward, hesiatating as the wolf spoke again before brushing past her and leaving the cave behind. She wouldn't miss it much that was for sure.

She curved her head back, brilliant white fur almost glowing under the sun's delicate touch as she straightened her posture, head and tail held high. "I will walk where I please, if my path follows yours then I shall." In her twisted way this was her complicated answer for yes. She didn't feel particularly like being alone at that moment - even though she would never admit it. To make things even more difficult this female seemed to know exactly what she was going through - or parts of it anyway - and that had unmistakeably created a frail companionship between them whether she liked it or not.

Ren's lips curled in the beginnings of a snarl as the wolfess ignored her and slowly began to walk onwards. Who did she think she was?! Her ears curved back slightly but she kept her tail high, moving forwards at an easier gait, the ache in her side eased after the night's rest. It was a shame she always woke up in such a grumpy mood, especially when the nightmares had haunted her through most of it.

As Tae took in her surroundings Sirena did not, to her there was no reason to observe anything. In her eyes there was no beauty, no life and she never stayed anywhere long enough to bother with remembering where things were. She was like the wind, rushing through the forest on an erratic path that flowed this way and that, never stopping although sometimes fading away only to pick up somewhere else.

She managed to keep up however, trotting behind the other wolfess as they went, trying her best to ignore the pain in her side. It was slowly fading and she knew that in a couple of days she would be as right as rain once more.

Ren had indeed kept up, her feet moving swiftly across the ground despite the small pain that ruined her usually smooth flow. She had kept head rather low as she moved, slender muzzle pointed straight ahead, dark eyes glancing at the path before her.

They changed direction once more, heading north this time and the wolfess could not help but wonder where the wolf was going. Did she have a destination or was she simply walking without purpose, much like she herself did. She sighed, pausing for a brief moment to extend one leg and was rewarded with a sharp pain tingling along her ribs. That bloody deer, if it wasn't dead already she swore she would have been hunting it down until it was.

She growled and continued on, ears perking up as Tae quickened her pace. Was this some sort of challange? was she mocking her because of her injury? She snarled, and the fur along her neck bristled as she quickened her own pace, a frightful pain enveloping and burning against one side of her chest.

Pain was good, she told herself as she moved on, it meant she was still alive, it kept her feeling, kept her going even when everything looked so bleak.

During this time Sirena had fallen more and more behind and finally she gave up on running altogether. Instead she slowed her pace to a sluggish walk, tongue lolling from the side of her mouth as she panted heavily. Her brown eyes were half-lidded with fatigue, a frown wrinkling her brow as she tried to forget the pain, perhaps will it away. It didn't work.

She gave a low whine and paused again catching her breath and waiting for the pain to ebb. At this point she raised her slender muzzle and glanced about her, finally taking note of the surroundings. Just ahead - the direction that Tae was moving in - grew brilliant blue flowers and the scent of water touched at her sensitive nose. Was that their destination? She huffed noisily and finally continued, moving slowly after the blue female.

Why was she following her anyway? This went against all her characteristics of being a loner, of one who never backed down from a challenge. If she wasn't wounded they probably would have ended up fighting when they first met, so maybe it wasn't such a bad thing. After a moment of pondering on this she decided that it was probably the fact that she was thirsty and the blue wolf happened to be heading in the same direction.

A little voice in the back of her head tormented her and jeered causing her to snarl viciously. She shook her head fiercely and raised it as she tried to quicken her pace, the limp more visible now.

Tae slowed the pace; she had felt Ren’s presence slipping and wondered why. She turned to look back at the female, noticing the limp and how the female struggled to manage it. She could admire the fact she tried to deal with such an issue and didn’t complain about it but she also though it was stupid to have so much pride that she couldn’t call for Tae to slow down or simply stop following her, as she didn’t seem to enjoy her company anyway. She sighed and walked towards the female, her head not lowered though not raised, in level with her shoulders, her tail hanging freely, flicking slightly as she padded forwards.

‘Are you thirsty Ren? The lakeside isn’t far and I wouldn’t mind visiting it.’ To be honest Tae didn’t want to drink, but she wouldn’t mind being nearer to the calming influence of the water, maybe it would have some effect on Ren and actually make her more companionable.
