Ebony had noticed the girl- kathy? cat? it didn't matter- glancing over Ebony's shoulder. Ebony looked back as well, but noticed nothing odd.
"I haven't been to this place in years," Glass finished his perusal of the other deamons, and returned to Ebony's side, "but I do not believe that much has changed. It seems as if this place continues to force time to stand still, as we rush past it."
Ebony shook her head, and coloured prettily.
"i am sorry; I'm usually not this candid."
Glass stamped his hooved on the rotten porch, causing the sound to emit far lower than it had on the dirt road.
((AKA i am running out of ideas LOL))

Third smiled as if he perfectly understood. Whether he did or not, the important thing was how it appeared. "Certainly," he said. "Are you here to help Pippin? We've both come because of the letter." He stood ready to produce the note if Ebony required.

Ebony reached down in to her corset and produced the small paper that had been delivered to her doorstep the day before.
"I was intrigued by the items on this list. Besides, how often do we get a chance to explore the library?"
Ebony smiled unsteadily, the smile not matching the darkness in her eyes.
Glass said acidly.
Ebony just looked down at Glass, and shook her head slightly.
"What are we waiting around here for, anyway? I don't know where to look for anything on this list, but standing around her waiting for us to get to know each other is silly. We don't have to like each other to get this done, now do we?"

Third immediately stepped between the girls, concern on his face. "We should try to stay together. It's not a very good idea to go wandering around the Library alone." In truth, he was somewhat worried that Pippin had summoned younger Forgottens to the House for this search. The letter seemed to emphasize strange library behavior. Maybe it was perfectly safe, but Third was not about to take chances with children. "We'll finish sooner if we work together, too."
At his feet, Constant closed her mouth and stood heroically erect, as if her posture and decorum might encourage the girls to better behavior.

Ebony sighed, and straightened. The boy seemed to know what he was talking about, and she wasn't about to argue.
"Forgive me. I only wished to start on this 'quest' or whatever you would call this odd venture. I am quite worried about what will happen to us once we enter, so it may be best if we do stick together."
As Ebony said these truth-filled words, Glass glowed with a slight golden light, and seemed to smile, if rams could smile.
Ebony glared down at him, but he shuffled away before she could grab him.
"I told you not to do that!" Ebony hissed.
Ebony continued to glower, mindless of the other two.
Ebony shook her head, clearing it of these fragmented thoughts of despair and loneliness.
The wind picked up slightly, and ruffled her skirts.
"Alright; what do you suggest we do?"

The wind had started to pick up, and was taking leaves off the flowering trees that lined the path.
Glass moved closer to Ebony nervously, but she pushed him away.
Looking at the other ill-tempered girl- Glass interrupted- Ebony stuck her nose in the air, and snapped the black umbrella that she had been using to keep off the sun shut.
"With pleasure," Ebony said acidly, and walked across the wet planks to get to the screen door.
As she moved, the house seemed to yawn, and the door creaked ominously.
Ebony reached her hand out for the door handle, and gave a sharp tug.
The door opened with a loud squeal, and dust flew around, but other than that, nothing happened.
"See? There was really nothing to be afraid of."
Ebony turned back to the door.
And screamed bloody murder, tearing off down the porch in a blind panic and croaching behind Third.
(ok, nighty now! I tag rik!))

Constant immediately sprang to action, jumping towards the door, arcing her back and baring her teeth. Sprays of red energy erupted from her shoulders. Her claws extended out, clicking on the aged wooden boards of the front porch.
"Hrtmlgstlmhrnlsmln," said Third, instantly dropping into the private patois he shared with Constant. One of his hands raised protectively towards Kate and Ebony.
((Natsube! What's your surprise? wink ))

Ebony shuddered as a large, brown hairy spider scuttled across the porch.
She whimpered as it ran towards her feet, but Glass stomped on it with his golden hooves, making a sort of a squishy chiming sound. Ebony looked positively green around the edges as she peered down at the squishy mess.
"Um.... i don't like spiders?"
((at school right now, so this may be my last post until 8, when i get home from work

Kate, doubting that was all there was to be concerned about, risked a quick look through the door. Inside it looked as if she was staring into another dimension, one that didn't look fun.
Despite the fact that she didn't believe in other dimensions, let alone was getting scared of Third for acting like a faerie, she thought it was best to hide her skepticism for now. "One Spider is the least of your worries." She spoke monotone.
From the depths of the red mixing in black air which she saw beyond the door came horrors, most of which Kate refused to believe existed. It wasn't just one spider, but many more followed out of the house. Behind all the spiders glowed red eyes that warned of passage.
Kate really hated things she didn't understand, for she knew that they couldn't be real and thus shouldn't be bothering her in the first place. She twisted the cap of her jar off and let her fireflies enter before her; sure they would not be harmed. Upon entrance they glowed to reveal horrors Kate felt obligated to ignore, but couldn't for the fear they created in her.
Her fireflies flew back to the jar which she twisted tight.
"How are we going to pass?" She asked the air, indirectly sending the question out to anyone who could hear.

Ebony shuddered as more and more of the horrible things ran around her. I HATE spiders!!! Glass still stood beside her, and turned his head to look up in her face.
Ebony looked down at Glass, who usually didn't seem too eager to help anyone, especially not her.
"What prompted that?" Ebony asked worriedly, hoping that he wasn't going to ask something of her.
Of course he would.
Ebony looked back over to the door, which was now pulsating with an eerie red light.
"Now would be a good time to try," Ebony said, worriedly watching the other two denizens who stood in front of her.
Kate had asked the question, whether or not it was rhetorical was moot; they had to pass, and if it fell to Glass, so be it.
Ebony was not looking forward to whatever it was he'd ask her to do though.
"Um-" Ebony called over to the other two, raising her voice as the wind continued to pick up, destroying the remnants of a flowerbed at her feet, "Glass might have something that could help."
((ACK!! Ebony is action girl!!! sorry!!!
BTW, ebony made a deal with glass when she was younger that in return for not using his powers on her without permission, if she ever gave that permission, she would have to do something for him. Glass hated the rule, because he couldn't usually be within 3 feet of Ebony, and so whenever he had the chance he made her do something she hated to do, hoping she'd call off the rule Be back at 8:15 or so heart ))

"It's all right, that type of spider isn't dangerous," Third said to Ebony offhandedly. He sounded as if he had some knowledge of the species. Yet as he looked through the front door leading into the House, he could only bite his lip and frown, gaze calculating. The House shouldn't look like that. "Frlmhlrml," he said to Constant, staring at the red eyes.
Constant immediately began to sniff around the edges of the door, totally ignoring the spiders. She rumbled back some sort of responses that only Third could understand. As she made her examination, Third turned back to Ebony. "What are you thinking?"

"Its not me, its Glass; he thinks he might be able to let us see what is real and what is not, but neither of us is any good at fighting. Plus, you have to be holding on to him for his truth power to work at all."
Ebony grabbed Glass' horn, and peered at the door. Holding Glass, everything seemed normal, but she wasn't about to take any chances.
Glass asked, a bit miffed that Ebony had just grabbed him. Ebony shook her head.
"I don't see a thing. Well, I guess it works. Grab on to some part of Glass but don't let go! As soon as you do, we'll see the creepy stuff again, and I for one can't differentiate between what is real and what is not by myself."
Ebony's voice sounded younger and almost kinder, and Ebony sighed. One side effect of Glass was definately not so easy to get used to.
You started telling whatever was on your mind, and mostly to the wrong person, to boot.
((ok, last post until i get home from work!!!))
