"... Aleysius said that one of Vanna's friends will betray her. On the water, he said... that must mean the Pythos.... or, more likely..." Lorelei gulped, closing her eyes for a moment. "Tempranillo."
She hugged Vanna tight for a moment, then seeing Amkia's distress, placed her daughter on the ground near the angel boy. Vanna squirmed closer and hugged him, watching the scary jaguar across the way.

"Secra said... what I could make out, 'Sister Sister, Shadow Sister, Don't let the rivalry spread beyond the wagon, Or as with Lucifer, so will Angel Be'. I think that means Kala is going to hurt Amkia in some way." She sighed looking down at the jaguar at her feet.
She raised her eyes to Lorelei though, "Oh, I hope Vanna will be alright." She looked at the youngster hugging Amkia. "She is such a sweet child!"
Amkia hugged Vanna back as if hugging her was the only way to keep from the stare of the green eyes of his sister.

Leshya'e nodded to Caroline, moving to sit down next to here. She then became down-hearted at hearing the words of the other banyas. Not knowing what to say, she just sat there with a frown on her face, wondering what might happen to Anezka. Nothing has been said of my dear girl... She glanced back at Varekai, then listened intently to the others.

Ro, who had just come out of her wagon and is sitting at the edge of the circle, unobtrusively, spots Kale with a smile. She'd always liked Kale. As he draws nearer, she lifts him into her lap, waiting for him to reveal what little treasure those tiny hands hold.
"Och," interjects Caroline after hearing Heather's Banya prediction. "Perhaps it means not to let a fight involve other people or Fortunettes." She pats Heather on the back. "I dinna think Kala means to hurt her brother, just her presence upsets wee Amkia. Lucifer was an angel once, and tried to rise above God. He cast him down out of the heavens. Perhaps the fortune only means that should others in the caravan start to take sides with either Amkia or Kala, that poor Amkia would lose, ye ken?" After a pause, she adds, "We do have more dark than light in this caravan--all the darkling bairns and there are more children of darkness than of light."

Quite and curious - and just a little bit lonely to tell the truth - Altaira wandered over towards the group. She'd still not really met most of the people she was travelling with. Far too shy. With a smile, she came over, pleased when no one objected.
"Maybe it means Amkia will change into a child of darkness under her influence, which might not be so bad? Can they switch like that?"
Oh that sounded foolish. Still, she wouldn't mind knowing and besides, Heather and her children...she didn't want it to be something bad. Didn't want any of the Banya bird's predictions to be.
Her flint was a comforting weight in her hands.

The prophecy about Amkia and Kala worried Lorelei. The whole talk of falling into darkness.... that didn't bode well. The children who were born to darkness were thriving, but she had a creeping suspicion that switching to the darker side would be... traumatic.
Vanna knew who she would side with. She clung to Amkia, burying her face in his curls for a moment. Kala was pretty - very pretty, and very soft, it seemed - but the sinister sensation she got from the jaguar reminded her of the evil she had sensed in her mother's wagon. Not outright evil, but a dark potential.

Heather shook her head, "No... Amkia won't become a child of darkness.. He just can't... he just... he is my angel..." She had tears coming to her eyes, this prediction had ruffled her up a bit too much.
She stopped the tears falling from her eyes and pulled herself together. "I fear Kala, she knows that. She has only been around five minutes and seems to own the place... oh I am so scared she will hurt someone. Val warned me to watch her, said she might attack the others." She gulped a little and looked at the jaguar who had got up.
Her rough tounge was licking at her paw and her tail flicked behind her. She held her head reasonably high giving the impression that she wasn't to be messed with.
"I just hope Kala and Amkia will get along. I don't want Amkia to lose his light." Heather turned her attention back to her son.
Amkia was smiling and his glow that he had when he was happy seemed brighter, especially now Kala wasn't looking at them. He liked his new friend. Vanna would be a great friend!

Kale was positively delighted at the invitation to Ro's lap. He laughed outright, and showed her his shiny discovery with pride.
Marissa listened curiously to the talk. It seems everyone's Banya's were spilling fortunes today, but not, hers. Unless... "Oh!" she cried, "Do you think that dream of mine...wasn't a dream at all?" She suddenly felt sick. Those words were not at all good.
"Woodland Choice..." she muttered to herself; whatever could that mean? She turned to Caroline. "I havn't heard your fortune yet. Did your banya reveal anything to you?"

Ro smiles approvingly at Kale's trinket. She smiles and bounces him a bit, knowing that the memory will seem foolish once he's grown to her size. She listens to the adults talk with an increasing amount of worry. Especially concerning Kale. She likes Kale. 'Woodland choice' sounded like something to do with an earth element. Could it have something to do with her?
"Aye, the wee terror did spout off a prophecy while Voltaire and Annjette were visitin'. Let's see if I canna remember it, hm?" She pauses a moment, recalling the cryptic words of her beautiful, yet irritatingly mysterious bird. "Weigh the choice...this wood attaches strings to one fiery marionette...little squirrel bairn given a great gift." She nods. "Aye, that was it."

She reached over to place, hesitantly, a hand on Heather's shoulder. The other had been a good friend since Al had arrived and this new one Kala had caused such an upset already to what had seemed like a perfect family unit. Poor girl.
"I'm sure your angel will be alright." This said she took her hand back, shy again, hoping it'd been seen as a friendly gesture. Then she turned her attention to the others.
"Well, that's certaintly cryptic...'this wood attatches strings to one'...and "woodland choice"...hmm" Altaira tried to mull this new fortune over in her mind, but to her it made very little sense at all. Oh, she wasn't good at such things. Meaning was harder to catch hold of than smoke when it came to these bird-riddles for her.
"A great gift cannot be bad though, right?"

"Gift could mean ability... and great abilities are not always good. But perhaps it refers more to the ability to save and protect?" Lor tilted her head.
"The only thing that comes to me when I hear 'Woodland Choice' is the fact we're going into Twiggle Forest. I passed through it on our way to Seinheph - that's where I found Ivy-Twined. I was barely on the outskirts, and it was a magical place... and something in it froze the wagon in time and turned Caelebre - the horse - to stone at some point. I worry about passing into it, now..."
Vanna waved to Ro when she saw her, peeking up from where she clung to Amkia. The the little fox boy - she'd seen him in passing, and would love to get to know him better. He seemed to be the only other child her age, aside from Amkia.

Caroline nods at the words of both Altaira and Lor. She wishes to decipher the clues of the Banyas, but can't help but think that they're....taking this in the wrong direction. Brow furrowing, she ponders. "Mayhap we should take all the predictions down on parchment. It'd be a mite easier to remember common patterns and the like."
Ro waves back at Vanna, remembering their game of tag with a smile.

Marissa's blood chilled when she heard Caroline's prophecy. Fiery marionette. She gulped before saying, "Caroline...do you know what happened that night in March when I went to visit Oqaia?" she glanced at her boy and added softly, "Do you know what happens when someone wears the Firos pendant?"
Kale giggled as he was bounced, beaming at the compliment paid his bauble. The last time he had seen Rojiza, she had been smaller, like him. What happened? He wondered what it would be like to be her size, oblivious to the "grown-up talk."

Caroline's eyes darken a bit with Marissa's words. "No, I've no idea," she says. "I dinna even know what the Firos pendant is."
Rojiza tries not to be bothered by the adult talk, but is. She knows who a 'fiery marionette' refers to. Unconsciously she holds Kale a little closer to herself. She kisses the top of his head, hiding behind large brown eyes any thoughts she might have on this discussion. Better to let the adults puzzle it out for themselves. In her mind, though, she goes over what prophecies she's heard that evening. Looks for patterns, and remembers that Banyas don't ever exclude their owners completely from their predictions.

Heather smiled at Al and then turned back to the other discussion. She listened not saying anything as she wasn't sure about most of the things that she was talking about.
Amkia looked at the others but continued to cling to Vanna, he hadn't met any others and he was weary of them. After Kala, he didn't know what to expect.
