Leshya'e nodded and considered what purchases to make. After a few moments, she decided that Anezka deserved to have a the lovely jeweled sandals, and that she would gift herself with the silver bond ring. She was interested also in the earrings, but the mention of anything dark made her slightly worried. The dark river fae might be able to help in finding the other parts of Anezka's Tri-Rune, but she wasn't going to risk it. "Thank you, sir..." Leshya'e handed her couplets over to Lofbross with no bother with haggling, returning back to Varekai with the sandals and ring.

Voltaire seeing the earrings left to someone else to purchase he did what any other headstrong doting father did. He started negotiating with the trader, "How much are those earrings then?"
The prospect of what the earrings could do didn't seem to bother either of them. Whatever happen will happen and hopefully their father and daughter bond would overcome it.
Annjette fell silent and just smiled as if amused by her father's actions.

[Remember, Pales, the prices are already on the items so all you have to do is haggle]

Lof took the money for the sandals and the ring rather unceremoniously, then pointed to the 75 couplet price of the bloodstones for the man.
Then, while the gypsies dug among his remaining wares, he dipped to pick up his flask of ale... only to have a silver pendant fall from his pocket. He looked at it, surprised, then rolled his eyes. He wasn't supposed to have brought this piece.
Lof set it on the edge of the table, ignoring it. http://i5.tinypic.com/1411elh.png

Heather had got out her caravan with Amkia to take a walk to the trader, after all Amkia might like all the pretty stuff.
He had been glowing happily untill Heather saw the man drop something. The necklace was beautiful but Amkia seemed weary of it and his light lessened a little.
She picked up the necklace in the hand that wasn't holding her angel and then turned to the trader, "How much for this one?" She didn't have much, hardly anything but something made her feel drawn to it.

"That worthless thing? Costume jewelry, no more." Lof waved his hand with the dismissive air of a true Lowland-Gelm. None of the fiercely proud jewelry makers that lived beneath the mountains would ever venture to say that any piece of finery that had been produced other than at their mountain was anything but scrap. "You can take it, for all I care. My sister got it from some wandering trader. I think she came from the south. Stupid girl, getting something so worthless- I took it off her, meant to throw it out weeks ago. Do me a favor." He waved his hand at it gruffly.

Heather smiled, "It looks like more then just costume stuff but thank you." She smiled and looked at the other gypsys. He had said it was worthless so it was fine her not having to pay for it.
She hung around for a little while more before she turned to go back, Amkia had started crying, something really strange for this youngster.

((I know the prices, but sometimes Voltaire isn't all to observant sometimes -- especially recently. n_n))
Voltaire nodded at the man. He could just pay the full price or haggle it down a bit ... It had been a while since he had haggled himself a deal, but it seemed like he should make it worth the man's time...
"Willing to let it go for 65 couplets?" It wasn't a huge price drop, but it was enough of a one to start with.

Emelyn and her son stood behind Marissa- and although Pierre was busy following the path of a beetle across the dirt road, Emelyn had been more topically observant... and couldn't help but overhear what her friend- and the trader- had been discussing. She also knew that Marissa didn't have much need to trade for toys- not when Kale was so keen to play with everyday objects. But Marissa seemed to want the piece of jewelry- so Emelyn called her son forward with a slight whistle.
"What?" Pierre frowned, but his mother put a calming hand up as if to say 'quit it'. He eased his face, and she knelt down to his level.
"Pierre, I think it's time that I teach you how to do a little trading. ...Would you like to trade with me?"
His hedgehog ears perked up. "Okay."
"Alright Pierre... this is what you call a future deal. For your extra toy sword- the one that we got at that trader a long time ago- I will get you TWO extra toys next trader."
Pierre was excited to be able to trade like a big gypsy, and was glad that his mother had made such a good deal for him. He didn't answer- just ran full tilt back to the wagon to retreive it.
When he returned, Emelyn thanked him and gave him ten couplets as a 'hold'- both to show that she was proud of him and to seal their trading deal. Then she came up behind her flower-loving friend once more, putting a hand on her shoulder, but speaking to Lof.
"Here... will this do as a child's toy? I know it's a toy sword- not quite as innocent as something else.... but it's just a soft-edged wooden thing. ...Will you give her the ring now?"

[My goodness, my friends=ILOVETHEM mrgreen ]
Marissa was startled out of her contemplation by the feel of a warm hand at her neck. She had hardly paid attention to the quick bargain made by Loftbross and the man who now busied himself with fastening a beautiful piece of jewlery behind her head, but she started. "Wha..?" she began, and spun to meet her benefactor. Met with the dark eyes of a man she had seen once, maybe twice, about the caravan, and never spoken to, she was taken aback. "Sir...you can't be serious...I can't possibly..." but she was powerless to the gaze in which he held her. Only her dear firend's sacrifice jolted her out of her dumb astonishment.
Emelyn was absolutely right. Kale amused himself with the things he found lying around, say, keys or her mother's dusty heirlooms, never toys. His favorite of all was the warm stone Ro had given him so long ago, but she would never think of giving that up. Still, Marissa was overwhelmed by the kindness Em and the unruly Pierre were exhibiting to her. "Em, no, I couldn't!" she exclaimed, but the yearning to protect her son was winning the battle of her concience.

Veshengo smiled, "It's no problem, Miss...You deserve it...and it looks lovely on you..." He bowed his head to her and then took her hand, giving it a polite kiss. With the interjection of another gypsy that took Marissa's attention, Veshengo dropped her hand and quickly made his exit, almost disappearing in a split second like an apparition.
Finding himself alone, he leaned against a tree and sighed, closing his eyes and replaying the previous moments with Marissa in his head. "She's so beautiful...so lovely..." He sighed heavily, then headed back to his horse.

"A sword will do," Lof said, taking the toy from the woman, and handing over the ring. "Just... don't sell it. Give it away, at best, if you don't keep it. ...It will turn darker based on the more dark magic it comes into contact with. When it's all black, it's only good for a little while longer."

Pales Voltaire glanced at Lof and nodded slightly with a small smile, "My daughter needs but to chose which she likes best, and we shall pay and be out of your way." The half-elf seemed open enough, but now would not be a time for talking since they were looking to leave the area soon.
Annjette frowned a bit before softly speaking to her father, "I like the earrings best, but someone seems interested as well..It wouldn't be right of me to take something they desire for my own selfish wants..."
Voltaire glanced toward Lesh and then back to Annjette and then addressed Lof, "Kind sir, I'd like to buy those earrings for my daughter if the other young lady doesn't desire them." It was the closest solution he could think of at the moment. "They're yours, then." He handed over the earrings, and took the couplets from the man's hands.
