"Hmm..." She folded her arms on the tabel and leand on them. "Is it anything like you saw in my book? If it is I could help you decifer it." Kathrin noticed that his voice seemed to lower as he spoke. She then thought more carefully, "Well...I can read other languages...a little....maybe I can be of some help at least..." She wanted to help Asriel in his studies. Sense she couldn't teach him magic herself, maybe she could help him learn from his books.

Asriel sighed before he spoke. "Thank you for the help, Kathrin. But it's something I have to do alone... it's a family tradition. All I really have to do it rewrite it, I can read it just fine... it's just hard to do it when the last person who wrote it had the most horrible handwritting in the planet and had like over two-hundred years to rewrite it neater." He cupped his mouth quickly and gave a sudden look of shock on his face of the last coment he said, revealing that his brother was over two-hundred years old. He was afriad she'd question his age now, even though he wasn't lying about it.

Wait a minute, I do know how to get these pictures printed...there was a small photo stand in the mall that I saw on my way to work...
"Sorry to leave you here, Danny, but I'll be right back!" Roxy grabbed the camera and dashed out of the restaurant. Then she slowed down so as not to look crazy. It wouldn't be good if someone thought that! Ok, the stand should be around here...I know it was by the candy store...because I wanted to take pictures of the candy...yum Her ear twitched as it caught the sound of a clicking camera, and then her eyes followed. Aha!
There was a bright yellow Kodak stand that had been partially blocked from view by a group of people, but now Roxy saw it. I can finally get these developed! She pulled her wallet out from her apron, took out a five-dollar bill, and walked up to the man running the stand. A sign next to him said that photos would be completed in 2 hours. "Hello, I'd like to get some pictures developed, in color. I'll be back to pick them up! Thank you..." She handed the man the camera and money, took the change, and smiled. Then she turned to walk back to the Sunset Bar and Grill.
I probably have time to finish one of the orders...two hours is plenty of time!

As Roxy approached the restaurant, she decided to enter through the side entrance. She didn't like bothering the customers, and they seemed to have been engaged in a pretty serious conversation when Roxy had left. Well, our good food wiill cheer them up!
Roxy slipped in, and wound up in the storage room. Her fox eyes adjusted quickly to the darkness, and she wove her way around the room cleverly to reach the kitchen. Danny seemed to be doing ok... "Well, um, I'll just take care of the sandwich...if that's ok with you." Roxy opened the package of chicken and split the chicken strips into two piles (on plates, of course, not just on the counter ^_^). Then she pulled out two pieces of bread from the food pantry, and toasted them on the oven. She also put the chicken strips next to them to cook...
When the toast was done, she put them side by side on the plate, and rummaged around in the refrigerator for some barbecue sauce. Mmm, one of the restaurant's specialties...I think Miss Ayla made this herself... She reverently placed it on the counter next to the plate of toast. Then Roxy scooped up the nicely done chicken strips with a spatula and placed them one by one on the bread, so that they fit just right...And now for the sauce! She popped the lid off the bottle and poured a liberal amount onto the chicken, then put the second piece of bread on top. Perfect! Now the customer will be rendered speechless by the tastiness of this beautiful sandwich...
Roxy adjusted her apron, took the plate, and walked outside with a non-fake smile. I think I'm getting used to strangers now... "Here is your sandwich, sir. Danny should be out soon with the salad. Thanks for waiting! If there's anything else you need, just raise your hand or something, and we'll be right over!" It was really easy to figure out what to say, because she heard waiters saying stuff like this all the time! Sometimes the world can be a very nice place. Roxy bowed and went back into the kitchen.

"Thank you..." Asriel said poiletly. He was rather confused that they finished his sandwich before her salad. He didn't touch his sandwich at first though, he figured he'd wait for Kathrin's salad to come before eating so he took a sip of water instead. The smell of the sandwich tortured him in a way, he was rather hungry and wanted to eat, but being polite was more important to him.

"Hey Danny, sorry, but I've gotta go again, to pick up the pictures...I'll be right back!" Roxy was feeling rather guilty to leave Danny alone yet again, but this would be quick...she left by going back into the storage room and exiting through the side door, so as not to disturb the customers again. As she walked along the mall, she couldn't help but notice how pretty each shop's display was...
Wow, a lot of people put quite a bit of work into their shops...I wonder how Fia's doing? Roxy snapped out of her reverie when some guys bumped into her. She stuck her tongue out at them when they weren't looking, and continued on her way. When she reached the stand, the man handed her a large white envelope with the pictures inside. "Thank you very much, sir!" She bowed out of habit, as her parents had taught her to, and spun around to get back to the restaurant.
I think the mall's becoming rather quiet...I don't see many people around...well, I guess it is rather late right now, *_* With the envelope tucked under her arm, she went back into the restaurant and maneuvered once again through the storage room. This time she turned on the light, so she could open up the envelope and see the pictures. "Wow...so pretty! Well, I can probably send these in the same envelope. Oh, some stamps are in this box right here! I'm so lucky...this storage room has everything in it...ok, two stamps should do it..." Roxy stuck on the stamps, wrote down the address that Miss Ayla had left on her note, and went back outside to slip it in the large blue mailbox (you know, those metal ones you see by the side of the road, only this one's in a mall!)

Roxy noticed that the male customer was not eating, and mentally whacked herself on the head. Of course he'd be polite and wait until the girl's order came...well, she'd better get the salad ready quickly! She grabbed some lettuce, cucumber, croutons, and two tomatoes from the fridge, and dumped them into the bowl. She took out the tomatoes, placed them on the chopping board, and cut them up into thin slices. Then she seperated the lettuce, dumped it back in with the tomatoes, and mixed in the chicken. After that, she cut the cucumber, and added that...Ok, now for the dressing...
Roxy dove back into the fridge and found a bottle of Caesar dressing. She popped it open, and squirted a rather large amount into the salad. Mixing it up with a large spoon, she grated on some cheese and sprinkled some pepper on top. Another perfect dish! She put the cooking book away, as she had forgotten to do before, and also put away all of the other utensils. Washing her hands with soap in the sink, she made sure that they were germ-free. Then she picked up the bowl, stuck in a fork, and walked over to the couple's table.
"I'm terribly sorry for the wait, but here is your chicken caesar salad. I hope you enjoy it! And like I said before; if you need anything, just ask or signal! Oh, and I almost forgot to ask, but would either of you like some dessert?"

She looked at him, shocked at first, but then started to giggle. Her giggle died down and she said, "There's no need to worry Asriel...I myself am 87 if you can belive that...."
She looked at the girl who brought her thier food. "Thank you very much.... Dessert? Oh no thank you. I'm fine." She picked up her fork and began to eat her salad. "Hmm...this is great...My complimants to the cheff." She smiled at the girl, then went back to eating her salad.

Asriel looked at her in shock. He wasn't expecting that, at all. Eighty-seven years old?! "O-oh, eighty-seven you say?" His voice had cracked a bit as he said it. He quickly took a bite of his sandwich, he felt rather embarrased at this point. Here he was, thinking she was about his age when she was actually much older than him, of course he'd probably outlive her with his bloodline's lifespan, but still. He didn't know weither to accept the fact and live with it, or act differently towards her. He had really liked her in a way, but now he wasn't sure... perhaps eighty-seven was young for her species?
He eyed the waitress and shook his head "N-no deserts, I'm fine...." He took another bite of his sandwich.
How young he felt...

"No desserts? Okay, well then, if you need something, don't forget to ask!" Roxy bowed, and noticed that her back was becoming just a little stiff from all the bowing...maybe she needed practice...anyways, the kitchen still needed to be cleaned up...snapping back to reality, Roxy smiled and left the two alone, and went back into the kitchen. I think it just needs a mop and a rag...that'll be easy... Roxy picked up a damp rag beside the sink, rinsed it well, and started cleaning the counters.
After the counters had dried, Roxy walked over to the storage room, picked up a mop and bucket, and set up. She filled the bucket halfway with water and a small amount of soap, and dipped the mop in. Then she started to mop...La la la...I love mopping! Roxy's sister, Fia, definitely did not like mopping as much as she did. Fia didn't like anything sloppy or wet, so mops were definitely not an option with her...well, that just left more mopping for Roxy!

Kathrin looked at Asriel. "Uh..did...did I say smething wrong? I'm sorry...it's just...that is considered young in my family...my brother is nearly 18....and he looks 10 in human terms...." Her eyes lowered to her food and she began to eat silently. After a few bites she added, "I will understand if you look at me differenty now....it's always the same where ever I go so....I'm used to it..." She wasn't hungry for some reasson anymore. Instead she started to play with her food. Moving it around with her fork as she stared at it.

Finally, Roxy finished mopping, and sighed with sadness. The mopping, the customer service, the job...it was all over too soon...now what would she do all summer? Everyone else seemed to have lots of friends that they met up with from time to time...but she didn't have anyone to hang out with...well, she could play with Fia in the courtyard, but would people think they were weird?
Roxy put away the mop and bucket, and squeezed out the rag in the sink, and then she washed her hands thoroughly, and pondered the questions in her head. I'll just have to take everything as it comes! I can get through the summer just fine...

Ayla came out of her office behind the kitchen just as Roxy and Danny were finishing up with the customers, smiling cheerfully as she clapped her hands together.
"Well, it looks like the two of you have had quite a busy time!" she said, nodding in approval at the work they had done. "You handled things quite well - I am very impressed with how you managed to juggle so many responsibilities and still serve the customers with a smile. Please, stop back anytime to say hello or to have some food."
Shaking each girl's hand, she placed a coupon for one free dinner at the Sunset Bar & Grill into their hands as she shook them. "Consider it a bonus for a job well done," she said, smiling warmly and nodding.

"No, it's okay. It was wrong of me to react the way I did... the way my race ages is much differerent. Once we turn eighteen we keep our youth in a sort of way until the age of like... five-hundred or something. But seeing one live that long doesn't happen very often. So most of my family, or friends of the same race, all look the same age. Err, please forgive me for judging so quickly, It just startled me a bit...I won't see you as a different person, I could never do that." He had felt very bad now that he had upset her, he reached out and touched her hand in a bit without any fear and gave her a reasurring smile. He hoped his explaination of his family would caml her down (he had hoped it freaked her out a bit so things wouldn't be so akward.)
