All right people, there's 80 days until HP- HBP comes out, and I'm sure we've all heard the rumor that COS was originally going to to be called HBP. I'm sure we've also all heard that the HBP isn't Harry or Voldemort... so who do you all think it is?
I'm currently rereading HP COS when I came across something interesting... this interesting fact made me wonder if Dumbledore himself could be the HBP.
Now for why I think this...
In the chapter "The Writing on the Wall," Hermione asks Professor Binns about the COS, close to the end where all the students start to ask questions, and say things about who can control the 'monster within' they bring up Dumbledore's name, and Dean says this: "
But maybe you've got to be related to Slytherin, so Dumbledore couldn't - " His sentence is then cut off by Binns.
I'm sure by now that most of us have picked up Dumbledore's Slytherin like qualities, either through the books or through fan fics. We also know that it was
rumored that Dumbledore was in Gryffindor, it has never said that it was fact. We also know that he knew who, and what, Tom Riddle was, and going to become. But how he knew we never found out, and we don't know if we will in later books.
So what do you think? Maybe Dumbledore's somehow related to Voldemort, after all, you never learn about Voldemort's mother's family, only that she lived long enough to name him before she died, and that she was a witch. And if Dumbledore is somehow related to Voldemort, then he'd also be related to Slytherin would he not?
It may also be one of the reasons why Voldemort fears Dumbledore... there are many things that can point to Dumbledore being the HBP in the second book, and those are just a few of the reasons above.
Of course with that all said and done, Hagrid is a half giant, which could mean he's a Half blood...
And there's still that name, "Mark Evans," which appears in the fifth book, and as Wicked pointed out to me, "Evans," is Lily's Maiden name. We also know that J.K never drops a name into her books unless they have some importance later on... like Sirius's name appearing in the first book, and then he appears in the third. Could he be the HBP?
And then there's Firenze, the Centaur, he appeared once in the first book, and then again in the fifth, in away, he's a half blood also, Half Human, half horse... maybe he's a prince of the centaurs, who knows.
With all this said or all we know J.K could bring in some completely new Character, or it could even be someone like Severus, or even Draco, who could be the HBP, though there's really no evidence that I can see in the books that would support these two characters as the HBP.
But what do you guys think? Who could be the HBP, and why do you think it could be that person?
And On a side note, Happy late B'day to Fred and Gorge, who's B'day was on April 1st.
