Original RP Aubrey and Moreau have their first real "fight" November 4, 2005After the Halloween Party....Aubrey walked quickly towards the manor. She was exactly looking forward to Moreau's reaction, but she didn't want to make him wait. The point was she was his girlfriend and he needed her. She made sure to stop by the kitchen and get a cloth of ice before stopping by a bank of montiors, looking for Moreau.
She was hoping he would be in his bedroom. Or his his office. But no, of course, he was in his executive laboratory. The only only himself and Aubrey had access to at all. Taking a deep breath, she headed that way.
She knocked sheepishly on the door for courtesy. Moreau was working diligently on the final stages of his new research, his subjects even should be arriving by helicopter any day now. Moreau was not been in a good mood as now twice his attempts to "fratrinize" with the islanders had gone sour. They attributed every good thing done to Aubrey and though she was almost his concience lately he had done many things on his own trying to please the stupid rabble.
Only in the lab was he truely at peace with himself, when he was working on his reserach and everything was right.
Speaking of Aubrey there was a knock at the door.
"Come in Aubrey." Moreau said with a strong bitterness in his voice. Aubrey swallowed and stepped in. The doors slid open on their own, then slid behind her with a smooth whoosh. "Hey Nick," she said smally, slowly stepping over towards him. She came by him and gently tried to put the ice pack on his swollen jaw.Moreau snatched the ice pack away from Aubrey and held it to his own face. Continuing his work while atleast pretending to pay her absolutely no attention. His facial expression showed that he was very, very, mad.Aubrey flinched as he snatched the ice away, hurt by his rebuke of her care. "Nicky, I'm sorry. I just wanted to make sure he didn't have a concussion or something," she squeaked out. "Come on, let me see," she attempted to get a good look at the bruise forming on his face. "Don't touch me Aubrey," Moreau was still mad, he had expected her, as his second in command to activate the sleep command the moment he had first been hit. He hadn't done it himself after that almost as a pride issue. "It's good to know you showed that kind of concern for him but not me when he punched me." Moreau knew Sean Carroll would pay for what he'd done.
But right now, he was too furious to be near anyone. Especially not Aubrey who he very much felt had betrayed him.Aubrey just opened and closed her mouth a few times, shocked. "Nick... I... " she flustered. "By the time I realized what was happening it was too late. I didn't expect him to hit you, baby, I really didn't!" She had quickly moved herself between him and Sean the moment it happened, what else did he expect from her. "I figured you would want to say something to his face, not just put him to sleep immediately. To show them you aren't afraid of them!" "I'm not afraid of them, I'm afraid of how close you are to them." Moreau looked stern.
"I'm not happy Aubrey, not one bit." he looked up from his work into her eyes.Aubrey averted her eyes away from his cold stare. "I know," she admitted, feeling guilty. "I'm sorry I made you come," she whispered, trying to hide the tremble in her voice."As you should be, that was pointless." Moreau was not in a forgiving mood, perhaps if she had waited till the next day or something, but not right now.
"It won't matter soon enough anyway..." he mumbled to himself and a half smile crossed his lips."It wasn't pointless!" she pleaded. "I wanted them to try and see what I see in you, Nick!" Aubrey touched his arm. "That you're not some monster.. that you can poke fun at yourself.." she motioned to the costume, which now seemed like the most horrible idea ever. "I was hoping you would have fun..."
But her tone faded as she continued. She didn't like that smile. "What... so you mean?" she asked cautiously"It's not important Aubrey." he smiled. "Not at the moment anyway."
"I would however like you to sleep in one of the empty staff rooms tonight. I've already had one arranged for you." Moreau had gone into his cold and calculating side completely. "It may be for a few nights atleast. Perhaps when you've shown me that you are still... dedicated, we'll see about moving you back into the mansion."
Moreau pushed his glasses back up, these were his real glasses he was not wearing his contacts tonight. "Anyway, I need to return to my work Ms. Lockheart. Leave."Aubrey just stood there, blinking. "WHAT?" Okay, he had a right to be mad. But kicking her out? "You're kidding, Nick?!""Ms. Lockheart, I rarely kid. Don't be so dramatic, it's not like you don't have a place to sleep. I've had some of your essentials and a few sets of clothes moved as well." Moreau turned back to his work. As well as Aubrey knew him she should know that when Moreau switched into his cold calculating side there was little you could do to bring him out of it.
He was in fact, at this moment showing no signs of his anger, or any emotion at all. Moreau was able to absorb himself in his work, and with the new batch of subjects on the way. A new large batch that was no secret to Aubrey.Aubrey balled her hands up into fists, angry tears slipping down over her cheeks. "Well then I suppose I should be grateful then Doctor Moreau!" she spat out. She had half the nerve to toss the microscope he was looking into across the room, but settled for "accidentily" sweeping his folder of papers onto the floor as she stormed out. She tried to think of something poingant to snap at him, but nothing sounded right in her head. Moreau didn't even pay notice to the papers that had hit the floor. "Goodnight Aubrey, I have work to do."

Original RP Aubrey talked to Sabin about her fight with Moreau November 04, 2005 Finally falling to sleep after crying for what seemed like forever, Aubrey woke around eleven the next morning. Moreau hadn't called her and demanded she show up for 'work' and god knows she wasn't going voluntarily today. She managed to drag herself into the shower and cleaned off the layers of make-up that had caked onto her overnight.
Decided today was definately a day to visit Margaritaville, she pulled on a bathing suit and sarong and headed out into the hallway on her way down to the beachSabin, meanwhile, was emerging from his room, with a yawn and a stretch. He had changed since the night before, back in one of his garish shirts and scrub pants. Blinking sleepily towards Aubrey his brows furrowed. "Aubrey..?" He said, his sleep-sluggish mind trying to tell him that things weren't quite adding up. Finally it clicked. "What are you doing down here? And going to the beach?" He gestured to her sarong. "The morning just started." Aubrey pulled off her sunglasses to reveal her puffy eyes from lots of crying. "I've been kicked out of the mansion," she said bitterly. "So I'm taking a day off."Sabin stopped mid-stride and shook his head. Had his sleep-addled mind misheard? "I'm sorry... what was that again?" He turned to fully face her. "That... can't be what I just thought I heard." Aubrey held her head up high, trying not to start crying...again. "You heard me. The Doctor has demoted me down to staff dormitories. Guess we'll be seeing a lot of each other now."He had heard correctly. But that certainly didn't make any more sense than the first time he had heard it. "But... why?" "Because the doctor is a heartless, obsessed man who thinks I'm property more than a person. Not that I should have fooled myself that he thought any better of me! He thinks all people are merely tools to use for his personal processess." It was rather obvious Aubrey was bitter. Both of Sabin's eyebrows lifted at that. Those were words he had never expected to hear from Aubrey. "Are you feeling okay, Aubrey..?" Sabin queried. "You certainly are singing a different tune than you did last night..." Aubrey huffed and folded her arms over her chest. "The party did not go well. Sean surprised Nick with a hard right, and Moreau ended up putting the sleep on him and he came this close to cracking his ******** skull open. And sense I decided to make sure he wouldn't bleed to death on the damn dancefloor, Doctor Moreau decided that I was no longer suitable to be in his presence until he knows where my loyalties lie."
Aubrey batted at a tear as it slipped down on her cheek. "My loyalties, Mr. Duvert. My LOYALTIES. Do you know everything I've given up to be here, Sabin? My life. My family... my heart. All that, apparantly, null and void now."Sabin shrugged nonchalently. "I mean, we all know Moreau is a heartless, obsessed, and to pardon the cliche, "Mad" scientist.... but I figured you knew that. We all knew that - it's kind of part of the package deal." He was unprepared for the barrage of the night's events. "Wow.... Guess I stepped out too early then." He shook his head at himself. "Figures, the action always happens. But I'm this close to finalizing my latest project.... well, my team is at least." He waved his hand. "The Dude punched Moreau? Wow, I'd hate to be in his flippers right now, yes?" Sabin gave a hearty chuckle. "And yes, we know you're loyal. I'm sure he does too. But you obviously know Moreau." A wiiiide smile spread across his mouth. "Just a liiiiitle bit of a control freak. Especially with you - no offense, Aubrey. But if he says jump, he expects you to reply "how High" - regardless of how actually out of control he might be of the situation." he gave a tight-lipped smile with a shrug. Sabin's flippant attitude about the whole deal just angered her more. Moreau was her world, and not something to shrug off so lightly. "Well, I'm sorry to have wasted your time with my problems. Now if you would excuse me, I've had my share of uncaring assholes for the week." She shoved the glasses back on her face and headed towards the elevator.Sabin pursued his lips as she stormed towards the double doors of the elevator. Since the party last night, and eating up the reactions of the Islanders who thought he was one of them had left Sabin in a very special mood the next morning, and sympathy was something that at the moment was a little hard to reach. But something gave him a small kick in the gut at seeing the young woman's reactions to his words. "Well..." Sabin started with a sigh. "You do have to admit... or at least consider, I think a big part of Moreau's attraction to you, especially your invitation to this island, IS your loyalty. He's as much as said so. It puts him higher on his pedestal of power. He's upset because, well, he has to be in control and what he assumed to be a person who would always follow along with him, casting whatever nefarious deed he does in rose-colored light stops to question sets him off just a teensy bit, non?" Aubrey stopped and peered over her shoulder. "I would like to think I can be loyal to the man I love and be able to show some friendly emotion towards other human beings. I'm insulted he would question me."Sabin gave an over-exaggerated shrug. "Well. I didn't see what happened - I can go back and watch the tape if you'd like - but he's possessive. You saw what happened after you flirted with Mr. Carrol." Aubrey flushed a deep red. Oh yeah she remembered. "I know he's possessive. And thats okay. But its frightens me to think he's willing to cast me off so easily.""Who knows. Maybe this is some other test. If I know him as well as I would like to guess, he's waiting for you to come crawling back, begging him to take you... To prove your loyalty to him. I'm sure what you did wasn't that bad - at least most sane men wouldn't think so - I wouldn't either - but, again, Moreau doesnt' care about reasonings for doing things. If he sees you make a choice between him and someone else - regardless of what that choice might be based after, he gets... well... 'twitchy'. He needs to know that his Things are truly His." "Do you really think thats all I am to him? Some kind of.. human dog?" She winced as she remembered the first serum he gave her...Sabin also thought back to his first meeting of the freckled woman. "Well... I'm not Moreau." He said diplomatically. Aubrey gave a miserable sigh, knowing that was a nice way of avoiding the question. "How could I have been so ... stupid." Sabin shrugged. "I don't know, honestly." The voice sounded oddly sincere. "I mean.... I came here knowing what I was getting into. You've always seemed strangely in denial of what's really going on here." Aubrey puffed. "I'm not in denial!"Sabin shrugged. "Suit yourself" She shot him a look. "I'm not in the mood to argue symantics with you. I saw you leading those guys on, making you think you're a subject. You ought to be ashamed of yourself." Sabin laughed at this, a grin on his face. "Why? I know full well what I'm doing, and I can live with myself for doing it. Hell, I'm enjoying myself. I was studying them just as much as Moreau was. I'm an anthropologist, after all. What I was doing is what Moureau is doing. I took the ethics out of my science." He raised an eyebrow challengingly. Aubrey just narrowed her eyes at him. "I'm not in the mood to argue this with you," she said flatly "Who's arguing?" Sabin defended. If she really wanted an argument, he would gladly step to bat. "But to me, it looks like you are in the mood to drink. You tend to do that when you're dressed like that. But usually it's not till afternoon. Everyone has their own ways of dealing with that little niggling feeling of guilt. I used to drink too." Sabin commented. Aubrey looked him up and down, trying to decide if he was calling her a drunk. "There's not much else to do around here." "I'm sure the Islanders would agree." Sabin mused out loud. "But me, I just say that you don't know where to look." He tapped the side of his rather pronounced nose. Aubrey gave an over-dramatized roll of her eyes. "I've leaving." Sabin was half tempted to follow after her. Who needed coffee when you had this? "Aww, and just when I was enjoying myself." She thought that she was lonely here. Sabin had even fewer people to talk to - he had had a blast the previous night, pretending to fit in.... or was he having fun playing the incognito manipulator...? He frowned. The past couple of months here surrounded by this environment were starting to get to him.... and he couldn't tell if he was enjoying it or not. He had kept a side of himself rather suppressed in the halls of Harvard... the life he had started to be with his family... since that was gone, and since coming here.... things were starting to shift to the other side. Maybe he should try to get some time off - away from this..... or maybe he liked it. Sabin stopped, the gears turning in his head with a rather confused look on his face as he mused those thoughts. "Well. I am here." Sabin left it simply. "Here for what? To belittle my concerns. I swear was I the only person who didn't check their humanity at the airport?""I'm not belittling them. I'm trying to draw your attention to what was going on that you chose not to see." "Look, I know Nick's no Casenova, okay? But I would like to know he feels something more for me than just a loyal little puppy who shares his bed with him at night, oh-kay?""Unfortunately what we'd like and what is isn't always the same thing. Sometimes it takes a rather startling viewpoint to make you question what you took for granted. I'm sure Moreau loves you.... or at least the closest thing he can to love. But that might not be the same thing you define as love." Aubrey chewed on her tongue and raised an eyebrow. "You don't think Nick's capable of love, eh?" "That's not what I said. I just don't think that Moreau can love another person as much as you can." Aubrey's expression softened alittle. That was.. almost sweet. She sighed. "I know. I know that. I do. But... I think he's capable of more. More than what he's showing right now." Sabin looked unconvinced. "Moreau IS in love. With you, yes, but he has another love. His work. And... well... I'm sorry, but I don't exactly see that going away." "You don't understand me at all," she said simply. "I'm not blind. I Know he has his work.""I think you're missing my point." Sabin sighed. "His work is always going to come first. And you're going to be the person who's there to help him with it, barring anything happening. He is going to take for granted that you're there helping him with it, and God forbid you want to do something else. Ever. Or ever make a decision to do something for someone instead of something he asks, then be prepared." "Maybe I'm the one who should be testing him. See what I'm really worth to him."Sabin chewed on his lip. "I... Maybe. I dont' know what would happen, to be honest. But be warned - you may not like the result. He views himself as the one in control, NOT the one who has to prove anything." "I think you might be underestimating him. At least alittle bit."Sabin gave her a tight-lipped smile. "Well, I would be happy to see you prove me wrong." Aubrey pulled a hand through her frizzy hair, looking distinctly upset. "I hope so." she said honestlySabin nodded. "Well. Let me know how things turn out." He sighed and glanced inside his empty coffee cup. "Well, I have a lot of work to finalize today. There should be some new subjects arriving soon. And I've been promised a full test of the project I've been working on." "Well, do a good job. Maybe Nick'll bed you next." It was a half-joke to Sabin, and a half-insult to Moreau. With that she finally stepped through the elevators.

Original RP Mending Ties with Moreau November 06, 2005Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey stood outside the front door of the labs for a few minutes, staring up at the glass exterior. Walking into work through the front door. How insulting. Actually, the staff dormatories could be accessed from the elevator...but Aubrey had been up for a while walking and thinking. She stopped and revelled in the symbolism and the drama of it for a minute before finally stepped in.
She made her way to her office and gathered from files. She wasted a few minutes filing, trying to gather the courage to do what she came here to do. She waisted more time by making herself a cup of coffee. Then she did more filing. Finally when she couldn't find anything else to waste time, she gathered up her clipboard and headed toward the lan she new Moreau would be at.
She took a deep breath and tapped on the door. "Doctor?" Doctor Moreau "Yes Aubrey, come in." Moreau said as she tapped on the door. Moreau was working dilligantly but was in an improved mood. The hardest part of his work was done and his subjects were on the way. To be truthful to himself though, he had been a little lonely. Not enough to compromise his pride. But he'd grown... used to having someone around. Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey came in, and she felt her heart lurch in chest just seeing him. Be strong.
"G..good morning, Doctor," she stuttered out, avioding eye contact. She brushed her hair over her shoulder and shuffled through the papers in her files. She was sporting a good tan, though her cheeks looked a bit on the red side and her freckles stood out more than normal. "I got through these lab reports, Doctor, I was wondering what you want me to do next, sir." She wasn't being sarcastic. Her voice was weak and she kept her eyes away from him. She was trying her hardest to keep things sounding...strictly professional. But her nervousness and waver in her meak voice made her sound like the shy nervous girl in high school tryingt to talk to the boy she had a crush on. Doctor Moreau "Thank you Aubrey." Moreau looked up and smiled. Then he reached over for a folder and sat it in front of her. "I need those serums developed and delivered to the lab for our next batch of subjects." He reached around for a particurally odd colored vial that he had apparently been working on. "I also need that delivered with them to the lab. Take extra care of that one it's very precious." Moreau wrote exactly where each serum was going on another paper just to keep mental track of it for himself. As he wrote he decided that perhaps he could spare one compliment. "You are looking... nice today Aubrey." Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey took the papers and the vials from Moreau.
"You are looking... nice today Aubrey."
She couldn't help but smile, her eyes lighting up. "I...do?" She took a deep breath and tried to bring herself down. He wasn't getting off that easily. It was going to take more than just a lone compliment to get her crawling back.
At least thats what she kept repeating herself in her head.
"What's this one?" she asked, experiementing with conversation. Doctor Moreau "Your really curious?" he did enjoy it when people took interest in his work. Aubrey was always good at that. Moreau had been working on this for weeks and could not contain his own excitement. Perhaps being dragged away from his work and then not being to concentrate on it afterwards was why he was so... irratiable. Perhaps. He attempted to be... playful. "How much do you want to know Aubrey?" he said with a geniune (or atleast one that appeared so) smile. Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey put the papers on her clipboard and let the vial slide around in her hands.
"Of course I'm curious. Not everyday you get handed a myterious liquid from the world's greatest scientist."
Damn it. Already slipping. What was with her. She sounded like she was in college again.
"Everything of course," trying to manage sounding playful but not so.... desperate. Doctor Moreau World's Greatest Scientist...God Moreau loved hearing that. No one else said things like that. Moreau reached for his clipboard and slid the details of the serum over to her. "I may take you up on the anything offer..." Moreau grinned. "It was, your offer after all." Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey flipped open the file, not accidently or unintentioally flipping the hair over her shoulder and exposing her neck. Oops, how did that happen?
She twirled a curl around her finger and began to read. But her coy flirtations soon faded as she eyes widened to dinner plates and her jaw hung open. She couldn't be reading this right... could she?
"You're joking..." she finally said, looking up at him.
He was a genious.
He was sci-fi movie mad.
And she loved him for it.
"Nick... you... how.. you're for real abut this?"
The two days at the beach were wonderful. But she, at heart, was a complete nerd. She was bored, and dying to go back to work. ANd this... wow.
Her eyes sparkled with excitement. Doctor Moreau "Completely serious. I was inspired by that silly movie we watched together." If Aubrey were to think back, the time would reference perfectly. He became distant and started making a lot of calls then. Moreau hadn't watched a lot of movies growing up. He'd never seen it till Aubrey had forced him to watch it in the theater room. He grinned, "You inspired me..." Aubrey Lockheart "I inspired you?" Okay, so that was kind of flattering and kind of...scarey. "Well, I'll let you take all the credit for this, okay?" She smiled and gave him a quick wink.
"You know you're completely insane, right, Doctor? Amazingly brilliant, but utterly mad." Only Aubrey could say that and make it sound affectionate. Doctor Moreau "Perhaps I am." Moreau grinned. "Please get to work on all of that Aubrey." Moreau turned and began scribbling something else. He waited till Aubrey looked like she was picking it up and about to leave. "Oh and Aubrey... dinner at 9?" he did so with his back turned so that he could make sure that he appeared to be nonchalant about it. He wanted to make sure she returned to him, but he wasn't above setting the situation. Aubrey Lockheart "Right away, Doctor." She was heading out the door when she heard his invitation.
She stopped and chewed on her bottom lip. She should say no. She should say no.
Or should she? I mean.. that was kind of like him making the first move.
But on the other hand he was NOT going to get away like nothing had happened.
"Was that a request or a direction?" She stood up alittle straighter, trying not to sound too demanding. Doctor Moreau "What do you think it is Aubrey?" Moreau said with a light-hearted tone. Aubrey Lockheart She shrugged. "I don't know, Doctor, thats why I'm asking.."
Damn him
Damn him to hell.
She's angry. Angry. She tried to remain focused on her cold-hearte exile from the mansion. He was't going to get off that easy. At least she was going to try. Doctor Moreau "Come if you want Aubrey." Moreau shrugged a bit upset that his date was almost being... questioned. "It was an invitation Aubrey, nothing more." he continued to pretend that he was really working. He was done working, he had nothing left but clean-up in his lab. It was all an act. Aubrey Lockheart A frown tugged at her mouth. "Okay, well... I'll see you there, Doctor," she said to his back, trying to sound a bit more optimistic. Sadly, the annoyance in his voice made her feel a bit better. He didn't tell her to shove off at least.

Original RP Moreau and Aubrey Make Up November 07, 2005Doctor Moreau That evening at 9 p.m. The table is laid out, Moreau has had an entire meal prepared with it's main course roast duck prepared with an orange sauce. A bottle of Chateau Lafite Bordeaux Wine from 1929 worth about $800 is sat on the table in an ice bucket to keep it cool. He sits across the table, a wine glass next to him and the space next to him where Aubrey normally sits. He has had a desert prepared as well though that is kept in the back. Moreau smiles to himself as he thinks about how he has laid all of this out. He wants to make sure it is completely clear what he has to offer. Moreau prides himself on his class... and his wealth. He sits and waits for Aubrey. Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey was there at precisely nine. She dressed nicely, but not as fancy as she apparantly should have. Aubrey walked in and suddenly felt very under dressed. The food and get up looked staight out of a movie.
Moreau gave a whole new meaning for wine and dine.
She smiled and blushed, looked over to Moreau, who of course, looked just as handsome as the rest of the decor.
She wondered what he had planned. If he planned to actually talk about what had happened, or just try and distract her with this... absolutely amazing display.
She smiled a welcome and came over. Doctor Moreau "Good evening Aubrey. You look beautiful." Moreau stood up when she approached and pulled the seat out for her. Moreau grinned, "I hope dinner is aduaqute to your tastes." He said as he sat down. "Salad?" Moreau said as he motioned to the bowl of salad. Aubrey Lockheart " Thank you, Doctor," she said as she blushed and really wished she wasn't so easily swayed by his antics.
"Saland sounds wonderful," she said, sitting down. "This looks really nice." She took a sip from her water glass and watched him carefully.Doctor Moreau Moreau stood up and served the salad. Then he reached for the wine and poured the glass of the particurally potent and old stuff. It was one of the best wines in his collection he had here on the Island. Moreau hoped he was making his point to Aubrey. Atleast that was how he saw it. He really did care about her, and he wanted her to come back. He wasn't going to ask though, it would be benieth him. She needed to be the one to come back to him. Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey sipped on her wine now, and had to admit to herself that that wine was by far the best she ever had.
She picked at her salad and smiled, sitting in awkward silence for several minutes. She was going to make him come to her.
That train of thought lasted abuot four and a half minutes before she finally set her fork down and looked over to him. "So..are we going to talk about what happened the other day?" Doctor Moreau "Don't worry, I've forgiven your transgression. Things can return to normal." Moreau drank quite a bit of his wine. It was amazing he could treat such expensive wine like this. "Besides, the upcomming research is too important to worry about situations like that. I don't think I'll be fratrenizing with the subjects anytime soon though." Moreau sneered a bit at that thought. Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey set down her glass and smoothed her napkin over her lap as she took a deep, calming breath. "My... transgression?"
Oh no he didn't.
"I'm sorry, Doctor. What... exactly was my alleged 'transgression?'" Doctor Moreau "You embarrased me in front of everyone and abandoned me when I needed you the most." Moreau steamed a bit and finished the rest of his glass. He sighed, "In addition, you sided with the very person who had attempted bodily harm on me." "Me even being at that pointless party was your idea. Especially when I was in the middle of important research." he poured himself another glass. Aubrey Lockheart "Nicky," she started, putting her hand on his knee. "I didn't mean to embarass you.. I don't see how I did. I wasn't siding with Sean, Nick. I just wanted to see if he was okay. Okay, I was worried about him, it looked like he might have, you know, landed on his head or something."
She frowned, not really wanted to ask why he insisted on giving commands to 'come' or 'follow' like she was some kind of a dog. But she didn't, because she was afraid was the answer.
"Baby, I wish you trusted me more. I would never intentionally hurt you." Doctor Moreau "You don't think Mr. Carroll would have just been abandoned there by everyone else. Did you consider that perhaps I needed you at that moment than he needed you with all those other people there." Moreau took another sip and patted Aubrey on the arm. He looked down at his salad that was as of yet uneaten. "Your the only person I can depend on Aubrey." he shrugged. "I need to know that's true." Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey frowned. "I'm sorry, Nick. You're right... he probably would have been fine."
Aubrey sighed. "Of course you can depend on me. I.. I don't know what else I can possibly do to proove that to you. I've given everything I have to give to you. My career, my body, my heart... I give you everything and I can't just go around thinking that I could loose you over something so... minor."
She took a deep breath, she'd been wanting to say this for a day now.
"You have to understand, Nick, that this doesn't come as easily to me. You have a level of detatchment thats superior to mine, or any other scientist in the worldm which means there's nothing inhibiting you from your dreams - and for that I envy you in a way.
Its not that easy for me. I'm simply a different creature- I'm having to find my own answers. I'm having to look harder and find ways to deal with what's going on here.
Having communication with them - knowing what they're thinking and feeling helps find these answers. Its my way of handling it.
Its not my loyalty to you or dedication to the project that's wavering, Nick. If anything - I'm willingly working so hard for it.
For you, Nick.
I'm working extra hard at his to proove m y dedication. If I was anything but completely loyal to you I wouldn't have the drive or desire to move forward with you."
There. She got it out. Doctor Moreau "It did feel like you betrayed me that night. But Aubrey, you weren't going to loose me over that. I just needed space and I was angry." Moreau shrugged. "I don't doubt your dedication. But I need to know that I can depend on you as the one person on this island who will support me." he sippped again. "That's why your here, that's why I love you. Because your there for me, and you don't question me or call me insane." Moreau wasn't stupid, far from it. "Situations like that make me feel like your not really on my side, even if that is irrational. They make me angry and when I get past the anger I get cold." he turned his face away. Aubrey Lockheart There was almost almost an apology at the end of that. Aubrey could help by smile a little, and she scooted her chair alittle closer. "I'm really sorry I made you feel that way," she said, leaning againt him alittle.
"I love you, too. But next time if you just need some space can we try the couch instead of kicking me out of the house. You really scared me, Nick. I... I don't want to lose you. I... just they way you spoke to me. I thought... I mean, I need to know I'm more than just your strikingly beautiful lab assistant," she poked him lightly. Doctor Moreau "Your more than that? I had no idea." Moreau grinned. "Now drink some more of that wine, it was expensive I want you tipsy before I take you back to the bedroom." he took another sip himself. "Have as much food and wine as you like." he turned his back for a moment and pulled out the flip-up cellphone like radio. "Please have Ms. Lockheart's items moved back into the mansion." he said into the device. Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey gave a soft smile and took a few more sips of her wine. "But I'm serious, Nick. I was really scared. I love you. Am I going to be able to talk to some one else on occasion without feeling afraid that you're going to get angry at me?" Doctor Moreau "If you'll promise to be there when I need you from now on." he looked serious about this atleast. Aubrey Lockheart "I promise," she said, taking his hands.
Fine, it had to be done.
"I think, next time, if you can try not to order me around like a dog. At least in public. Let me show them I follow you because I want to, not because you make me. Because its the truth, you know." Doctor Moreau Moreau looked insulted, "Your not a dog to me, but I do enjoy my feeling of control. Especially when I get angry I turn to my coldness and control. But I'll try." he shrugged. He attempted to grin this one off, "I know you'd do anything for me and I guess I took advantage of that. It is not intentional but it's hard to be anything but comfortable with it with you." It was true, Moreau enjoyed being in control in every possible situation that they'd been in. Especially the bedroom, and previous he had always felt Aubrey was comfortable with it. Aubrey Lockheart Damn him, she felt so much like a flitty little teenager around him. "I'm glad you're comfortable around me," she said with a smile.
She finished off her glass of wine and held it out and as if to ask for more.
"And is it really that obvious that I would do anything for you. Yeah its true, but I would like to think that I come off as more than a mindless Moreau-bot." She cracked a grin. Doctor Moreau "Hmmm, I'm having an idea for a costume for next year." Moreau grinned at the bot comment. He attempted to be more serious, "I will attempt, but it's hard for me to think strait when I'm angry." "Anyway, why don't we finish dinner then head back to the room. Your killing my evil scientist angle with all this cuteness." Aubrey Lockheart "Baby, I don't think fuzzy pink bunnies could kill your evil scientist angle," Aubrey downed another glass of the wine. And secretly wished next time he wanted to spend $500 or more to impress her he would use on jewelry insted of wine. If he wanted to get her into bed a nice diamond tennis bracelet would probably work just as well.
She snickered at her own wit (wow, that was pretty damn good wine). Doctor Moreau "Mmmmm perhaps evil green bunnies, with red eyes would be more approiate. Or perhaps not that was sort of dumb." Moreau shuddered a little bit at his silly idea. Moreau smiled, it was going to be an interesting night atleast.

Original RP Aubrey asks to go home for Christmas December 05, 2005Moreau looked at his watch as the elevator dinged open in the ground floor of his mansion. It was late and he headed for his bedroom. He knew Aubrey would probably be waiting for him, he had worked late, again. He climbed the stairs and turned the corner to enter the plush bedroom with the California King four poster bed at the back wall. "Good evening." he said as he entered. Aubrey was indeed waiting for him, sitting up in the bed in her nightgown, cuddled up with a body pillow and book. She smiled warmly as Moreau came in, marking her place and setting it down on the bedside table. "Good evening."
Moreau walked over to a seperate changing room. He put his clothes away to be cleaned by the help and came out in nothing but his boxers. As he normally wore to bed. Aubrey pulled down the comforter welcoming him, immediately snuggling up to his side. "Its late," she started, "You must be tired..."
"Just a bit, yes..." Moreau detected a hint of something else in Aubrey's voice. Something that was bothering her, he worried about this since when something bothered her it bothered him. "Is everything okay love?" he looked over at her. "Well now that you mention it...." she said kissing his cheek. "I was just wonder what the exactly plans for the, you know.. .holidays were. I can't believe its been, what? Five months already?"
"Well I assumed you'd be organizing something for the islanders of course. You seem to enjoy that." Moreau shrugged and turned back a bit. "It's been a productive five months. I'm glad your here." he said. Aubrey smiled. "Yes, very productive. And I know that I don't have a real, you know, official work type benefit plan or anything, but I was wondering when I might be getting some, you know, vacation time? I haven't seen my mother since the airport and I always spend Christmas with her." Moreau blinked. He had assumed when he had moved Aubrey here that he had made it completely clear that she would not be leaving this island. "Absolutely not." She blinked back at him. "Excuse me?"
"Aubrey, I'm afraid love that I can't authorizing anyone leaving this island." he pulled back away a bit. "I thought you understood that the first time we spoke." Aubrey scratched her neck. "Like...ever? Nick, I know this was a permanent relocation operation but I'm not a prisoner here."
"Of course not Aubrey, but unfortunetly the work we do here is too classified. I don't even leave the island, you know that." Moreau stayed calm hoping it would encourage Aubrey to do the same. "Yeah, but... I didn't think you and your family were really... you know.. close. And I know this is classified, but... do you not trust me?"
"I trust you Aubrey, I truely do. But I can't allow anyone to leave unsupervised..." Moreau stopped for a moment at this mention. He began to roll over an idea in his mind as he waited for a response from Aubrey. Aubrey closed her eyes and squeezed the bridge of her nose, trying to stay calm. "I'm not just anyone."
"And what about James? He comes and goes all the time!"
"James is, a different situation. He knows betraying me could be... dangerous." Moreau looked away, he had never really brought this up with Aubrey. He had always let her assume as everyone else did that James did what he did completely willingly. Moreau continued to mull the idea around in his head. He wasn't going to say anything until he had fully thought it out. Aubrey blinked. She really didn't want to admit it, but she knew betraying Moreau could be... dangerous. "You... you don't think I would betray you...do you?"
"I... don't Aubrey." Moreau sighed and attempted to snuggle closer. "Listen, I may have a way to make this work..." Aubrey didn't feel quite out of the woods yet, so she raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
"I... we... have a lot to do over the holidays. But if your willing to work with me. We can both visit your family just after Christmas." Moreau looked into her eyes for a reaction. "How does that sound? A few weeks atleast away from the island. Maybe go some other places as well? Whereever you want in the world, as long as I stay with you." Moreau grinned hoping this offer would satisfy her. Aubrey's eyes widened. Meeting the parents, for more females, was code for things were getting serious. "You're serious?! Really, Nick? You'd do that?"
"Yes... and we'll go wherever else you want. You can plan the entire trip. Anywhere... you desire." Moreau smiled. Getting her away from the island would prevent any moral issues with his... plans. Aubrey smiled and began to relax. "Can you at least let me get a letter off to them to tell them I'll be coming?"
"Of course, we'll have James deliver it." Moreau of course would look at it as well but he wasn't going to tell Aubrey that. He trusted her... mostly. But he couldn't let anything jeperdize his operation. Not even her. Aubrey pulled Moreau into a deep kiss, her mind already trying to wrap around what her parents would think. They didn't really.. approve of her obsession with Moreau, and definately didn't approve of her taking his job offer.
Moreau finished the kiss "Aubrey, I just want to see you happy." Moreau stroked his hand through her hair. "I look forward to meeting your parents." "Now, lets sleep love." he snuggled close to her. "I'm sure they'll love you once they actually get to know you," she said, not realizing that probably just gave away that, currently, they couldn't stand him. But she wasn't thinking about that now, she happily snuggled up close and tossed her glasses into the bedside table.
"I'm sure your right." Moreau quickly picked up what that met. He'd always had impressions that they didn't like him. "Don't worry love, nothing will stand between us. Nothing." He'd make sure of it, then he closed his eyes.

Original RP Merry Christman, Colche. And goodbye for alittle while... January 02, 2006 Aubrey rushed down towards Colche's duplex, a big basket of homemade cookies all wrapped up in green and red ribbons for her. She was beaming, basically skipping around that day, excited about her upcoming trip.
She knocked on the door to Colche's apartment, "Colche, its Aubrey!"Colche licked her lips as she awoke, blinking a few times she wondered why it was dark, until she realised she was inside ehr tent. With a yawn and a stretch she got to her knees and peered out from between the flaps blinking in the bright light of the duplex, it was a sunny day and the light hurt her eyes after napping in the tent most of the day "Aubrey?" she mumbled a bit groggy with sleep.Hearing her voice, Aubrey used the key pad to let herself in. She smiled at the face peering at her from inside the tent. "Hello there, Colche!" she said happily, taking a seat on the bed. "Can you come here? I want to talk to you for a moment."Colche blinked once again, the light in the room was making her a little blind but she sat, rubbing ehr eyes and giving a big groggy yawn before she crawled from her tent and sat at Aubreys feet. She was still a little sleepy but she rubbed her cheek against Aubrey's knees and puurred quietly, her fluffy ears perking to listen.Aubrey opened the basket and handed a cookie towards her. They were chewy chocolate chip. "I made these for you," she said. "I hope you like sweets." She reached down and rubbed at the girl's head at the base of her ears, then smoothed dowm her long hair. "I'm going on a trip for a while. I just wanted to tell you so you didn't worry."Colche took the cookie and nobbled at it. She hadn't seen Aubrey for such a long time. She didn't know how long, she had been in the jungle for a while and before that? She couldn't remember. "trip?" she questioned though a soft puurr resonated from deep in her chest as Aubrey ruffled her round fluffy ears."Yes, uhm, a vacation? I'll be leaving the island for a little while with the doctor. I'll be away for a while."Colche listened to the words, she was trying to understand them, her brow creased "away?" she blinked a few times "School?" she tilted her head softly remembering one of her stories, Christopher robbin had gone away to school and pooh bear ahd tried to find him but he came back at the end of the day. Biting her tonguge for a moment going in to one of those deep thinks she spoke again "come back? Cristopher..robin..back..." she paused her brow creasing again "After..uhmm...school" she smiled, feeling proud of herself "Aubrey, back, after school?"It took Aubrey to catch the reference, then she remembered Christopher Robin was the boy from the Pooh series. "It might be longer than that," she said honestly. "School is only for a day, I will be gone a lot longer than one day. But I will be coming back."Colche's brow creased again "long day" she stated with a slight pout. She nibbled her cookie for a long moment and was silent except for her gentle kitty puurr "Colche go school too?" she tilted ehr head looking up at the older woman her big blue eyes filled with maybe a touch of hope.Aubrey bit her lip. "I'm sorry, but this trip if just for me and Doctor Moreau"Colche pouted but went back to nibbling her cookie. She sighs softly "Colche Lone lots now Aubrey" it was one of those longer more sence making questions. She didn't make them very often and having spent a good two weeks int he jungle she hadn't sdpoken an awful lot. She thought maybe, maybe this christmas thing she heard so much about from others, well she thought maybe it was making people come back again. She missed the family she had made when she joined this island they just weren't around any more, she didn't really understand why."Thats because Colche went and ran away where no one could find you," she said with a frown. She absentmindedly started to play with some of the long strands of her black hair. "You shouldn't run away like that, you should go knock on people's doors and ask to play."Colche frowned. Was Aubrey mad at her? Her ears twitched flat and her puuring came to an abrupt stop with a pout and a slight cringe. Her tiny stub of a tail twitched a little angrily. She didn't understand at all, Aubrey had come back and now she was going again? "fun school Aubrey" she whispered dropping the remnants of the chewy cookie on the floor and crawling off back towards her tent. She could hide in there with her bunny, noone could find her in there. The cheetah liked it in the tent.Aubrey was surprised at her sudden change of attitude. She sighed and crawled over towards the tend, sitting outside the door. "Don't be mad at me, Colche. I'm sorry I can't take you with me. You'll understand one day when you fall in love."Colche's brow creased and she sniffled softly peeping out of the tent. She didn't understand love, she only knew what she read in her story books "Snow white love prince charming" she pouted a bit her brow creasing "what love Aubrey?" she pouted big crocodile tears rolling down her cheeks "noone love Colche, not princess, christopher robin love pooh bear, colche not pooh bear" her ears flattened and she wiped the tears with the back of her hand.Aubrey had to blink back her own tears seeing Colche cry like that. "Moreau loves Aubrey" she said, reaching up to touch her cheek. "There are different types of love. I love Moreau like the Princess loves Prince. I love Colche like Christopher Robin loves Pooh."Colche's brow furrowed, deep lines appearing on her forehead. Lifting her big blue eyes to Aubrey she shuffled forwards and hugged the woman tightly. Her puurr echoed for a moment and she wiped her tears on Aubreys shirt "Aubrey princess. Colche want be princess" she sniffled a little, perhaps she had been bottling this up for a while waiting to see her mother figure to try and make sence of her own emotions "no prince charming, Colche not princess"Aubrey retreived the cookie and handed it back to Colche after brushing off any fuzz. "Every girl will be a princess one day. Sometimes it justs them a very very long time to find the right prince," she explained. "Aubrey was an old lady before I found mine."Colche looked at Aubrey, the woman didn't look old to her, but then she was probably a very bad judge of age she didn't even know how old she was herself. She wished she had the words to tell Aubrey about chubbs. She had a crush, she just didn't entirely understand what a crush was. Of course finding Joliette there had upset her. Colche took a deep breath and curled tightly in to Aubreys lap, she was becoming a very large kitty as she changed. her big blue eyes closed gently "Colche no princess Aubrey, lone ever after" Aubrey held her in her arms. "You are a very beautiful princess, Colche. Do you know the story of Cinderella?" Colche shook her head a little, she knew sleeping beauty and snow white, they were princess stories and she wasn't like either of them. "Well," she started, "Cinderella was born a dirty little girl that her stepmother and stepsisters treated very badly. They made her do lots and lots of horrible work, all the time... they never let her do anything she watned to do."Colche frowned a little, "bad work" she stated a shiver rolling down her spine as she trued to bury herself deeper in to aubreys lap while listening to the story, she was starting to feel sleepy. it was like a bed time story."Yes, very bad work," Aubrey hoped she would maube relate better to this story then. "But then one day a fairy godmother took Cinderella away from all the bad work. She gave her a pretty dress and sent her off to a ball, which is like a big party. At the party she found the prince and they fell in love."fairy god mother?" her brow creased, there were fairy godmothers in sleeping beauty, she smiled and nodded "colche like sin..duh..rella?" she questioned ehr voice sounding sort of distant now she was starting to doze off, but she wanetd to know how the story ended.Aubrey stroked her hair and continued with the story. "You see, eventually Cinderlla and the prince fell in love and got married, which means Cinderella became a real princess. Even though she was just a little ash-girl growing up." She looked Colche with motherly adoration. "Someday someone will come here that will think you are a princess."Colche's ears flattened as the story ended and her quiet, whisper of a voice echoed throught he silent duplex "promise?" her eyes, those perfect, deep blue orbs peered from between her dark lashes up at her mother figure, the only mother she had eveer known."I promise," she said, scritching her ears again. "I can't promise when, but you're a very beautiful girl. And smart, you're learning very fast with your books. You make me proud, Colche."Colche smiled softly. "Proud" she whispered, her eyes closing for a long moment she was becoming tired. her ears flattened tightly against her head as her breathing became slower "Aubrey come back soon?" she puurred now as she asked hte question her mind slowly drifting to the land of fancy her books sent her to.Aubrey found herself blinking back tears, for the first time since Moreau told her that they would be going away did she fund herself actually hesitant to leave. "Soon," she said, pulling her into a big hug. "I'll miss you, okay! I'll bring you back presents!"Colche smiled softly sighing lightly in her dreams "Colche lots of presents, santa" she puurred her voice fading away as she yawned "words, want words" she finally cuddled deeply in to Aubreys lap, fitting alot of her slender frame comfortably in the older womans lap as she dozed off. Happy in the reassurances of her 'mother'.Aubrey held her for several minutes before trying to get her onto the bed without waking her. She lifted her gently and placed her on the unmade bed and pulled the covered up over her, leaning down and kissing her in the forehead. Colche made her biological clock tick in overtime, and found her tummy tickle at her upcoming departure. Moreau was actually coming to meet the parents, and then offer to take her anywhere in the world. Rome, Paris... where to start?
She secretely indulged in the fantasy of Moreau proposing under the Efil tower as she headed towards the door, turning back to give one last look to Colche.
"I'll bring you back lots of words," she whispered as she turned on the lights, heading back her packed up Jeep and wait for Moreau at the helipad.

Original RP Moreau and Aubrey return from Vacation March 04, 2006The helicopter piloted by James sped towards the Island. The excitement on Moreau's face was obvious. He'd spent the last two months touring Europe with Aubrey after the uncomfortable dinner with her parents. Paris, Rome, England... based on the amount of things she had brought back she seemed to enjoy being with one of the wealthiest men in the world.
As the Island came into sight Moreau's face spread into a large almost maniacal smile. He'd missed it so much, his island, his research, his life.
On the other hand, Aubrey was surprised at the emotion that washed over her as the island came into view. Though she missed some of her island "friends," Colche in particular, a dark feeling came over as the jungle emerged. She tried to suppress a frown, and shake the feeling that she was returning somewhere...bad. This was her home now, after all. Aubrey had been quiet most of the trip home. Moreau had not proposed to her like she had been secretly hoping - no matter how foolish. A fact her mother had NOT neglected to remind her about when they had swung by to collect Ein. She snuggled the puppy in an attempt to comfort herself.
The Helicopter touched down on the now clean helipad. A driver was waiting there for Moreau and Aubrey with the jeep, just as requested. From this distance everything appeared to be in order. The lateness of their arrival and the just recent lifting of the storm had made their intro more inconspicuous than it would have been normally. It had been easy enough to meet with James after setting down the private plane in an airstrip that Moreau had leased. The excitement in Moreau's eyes only grew as he took hold of Aubrey's hand, half in sheer joy and half so when they did completely touch down, she'd be that much easier to get back to the facilities.
Aubrey couldn't help but smile as she watched Moreau. There were very few times he looked truly -happy- and even fewer times when he looked so happy when he was doing something, well, diabolical that kind of ruined the moment anyway.
Ein yipped and twirled once the chopper stabilized, happy to be on solid ground again and really itched to get on the ground. He scratched impatiently at the hatch.
"Home sweet home," Aubrey said to Moreau, touching his face. She tried to shake the sadness out of her voice and be happy. If anything, for the doc.
"Yes, a lot to look forward to." Moreau rubbed his hands together. "Back to our research my love." he kissed her cheek and opened the jeep door for her.
Ein sprang out of Aubrey's lap and landed on the helipad with an adorable lack of grace. He sniffed and licked the pavement, relieving himself in excitement before he managed to get to the grass.
Aubrey sighed and shook her head. "Your insufferable, Nick. Can't even relax for a nice vacation. You did enjoy yourself, right honey? I loved Paris...and Rome. And London for that matter.." She started to pile the bags and bags of new clothes, perfume, jewelry, and gifts into the Jeep. She didn't get a diamond solitaire the wanted, she made sure she supplemented her disappointment with other goodies. Not that Moreau cared. Or couldn't afford it.
"The vacation was wonderful love, but only because you were there." Moreau put his arm around Aubrey as they were being driven back to the facilities. "But this is important to me as well." he looked into her eyes. Completely oblivious to what exactly Aubrey had wanted from all of this.
"I know, baby. But look - its still all here. And in tact, yes?" She ran her fingers through her thick red hair and let herself be comforted a bit. "All work and no play makes Nicky a dull boy remember. We should do this again next year." An idea struck her and she smiled more. "We should go skiing somewhere. Somewhere really nice. And but Einstein would love the snow!"
"We shall see love." he kissed Moreau's cheek and considered this, he was bound to have many new subjects by then. Doing this again might not be a bad idea, of course he needed to see Sabin as soon as he could slip away. The jeep was starting to pull into the facility.
Aubrey went back to snuggling Einy and steeled herself. This was her life now. Back to work. That's what it must be, yes? Just...not wanting to go back to work. I mean... who wouldn't be a disappointed from having to go back to long hours of microscopes and formulas after a six week tour of Europe? That was it. That's all. Of course. Of course the visit home didn't help relieve her homesickness, just made it seem ever worse. Not to mention, though she hated to admit it... the closest thing to a child she had seen in MONTHS of Amaya. Children, families... all. you know.. normal. And happy. Aubrey figured she could be more happy on the island if everyone wasn't so damn morose.
Moreau walked through the lab, noticing the slight layer of dust that hadn't been completely cleaned up as they headed for the elevator. "You should head up to the mansion, be sure everything is in order. I can check with the staff and be sure everything is okay, then meet you there Aubrey." he rubbed her hand that he was holding.
"Okay! Oh, and I want to go visit Colche. I have presents for her!!"
"Oh... yes of course. Best to make sure things are in order first love." Moreau needed to make sure that his... scapegoat was in order. He had quite the offer to make as well. "Goodbye love, see you soon."
Aubrey shrugged and started to load the bags into the elevator that would lead to the mansion. Maybe she should surprise Moreau with one the lingerie get ups she bought in a little boutique in Paris. If that didn't jolt her out of her slump, she didn't know what would. Deciding on this course of action, she gave Moreau an impish and smile. "Okay, hurry back, love!"
I will." Moreau smiled and walked off to meet with Sabin. Of course he'd end up pouring over the notes, Aubrey wasn't likely to see him for a little while. Long enough for her to get bored or fall asleep by far.
