Joselle`Stark I can't say I feel guilty. I feel ANGRY. Angry that someone wants to put their religious beliefs before my reproductive rights. Angry that someone wants to force another life into poverty or abuse. Angry that someone would want me, a woman, to go through nine months of HELL just because they don't want me to remove something brainless from my body. Exactly. The man is just as guilty, but you don't see him sticking around or getting punished. God forbid you're a woman who got pregnant while having premarital sex. Oh yeah we must be using abortion for birth control. DANNL:GHSDOILDNHIH!O!H~~!!!! IT IS MY BODY! If you don't like it then stay the hell away from it.

I sometimes get that.
But you have to realize that that's exactly what they want. ಠ_ಠ

Nethilia I just mentally remind myself that if I wasn't allowed an abortion, I would in fact kill innocent children--my own, seconds after birth. Because I'm a dark souled b***h. Wouldn't it be easier to starve yourself until you miscarried? Seeing as how that way you don't have to actually give birth to it, although it probably wouldn't be pleasant.

It's a general thing to feel emotion towards the words "kill" or "murder" or "harm" about something that is a human or has characteristics similar to humans or in the shape of a human (I forget where it was but I think it was with the development of the actroids that people got relatively angry if another person hit one of the robots).
Appeal to emotion as someone else had stated is a logical fallacy (hence why any one who did the pro-life speech in the speech class I was in failed). I can understand from their view point on the protect something that is human yet not a human being but I do not understand how they abandon that potential being once it is born (whether it be theirs or someone's kid millions of miles away). My usual response to the whole "It's baby genocide/murder and is selfish" is "and how many hungry orphans have you fed today?". I met tons of prolifers who call baby murder but are really big on child abuse and wife beating..... scary huh?
About dreams: I constantly have pregnancy dreams or that my fiance is pregnant.

I have never responded to my emotions during a debate. On the other hand, I am pretty hardcore. smile
But yeah, after being called a murderer, and a sinner, and anything that gets beneath your skin, it can irritate you, even break you. But you also must realize those people yelling at you are screaming at you in hate. a feeling of distrust and hate and malice toward a person who is going between the choice of killing what could be a person someday, and giving up what could be their life, their mentality, their stability, their rights to pursue happiness. Then you just think, "I'm fighting for someone's right to choose, someone's natural right to not have a child." You must realise both sides have intelligent, outspoken and convincing people, and that both sides are also persuasive in general...why else would you get a pang of guilt and sadness while defending innocent people?
Both sides of this argument are innocent. But both sides also have emotion, and know how to find that emotion in eachother.

Of course I feel guilty or ashamed sometimes, anyone would feel that way after being called names or insulted or screamed at. It's a natural response. Plus, I feel guilty and ashamed if I kill a bug. But I remember that if abortion were made legal, actual thinking, feeling, living women would die in horrible ways. And I know that most of these people want to make women feel ashamed and afraid of their sexuality, so letting them shame me means they're winning. So really, I'm not ashamed, because I know that I'm standing up for the right thing. Maybe it's more fear than guilt or shame, too, because lifers are some scary people. Tingilyae That makes me feel guilty as well, and when a mildly intelligent pro-lifer comes by, I at times get ashamed of myself. But then when I think about being forced to carry something I never wanted to be there inside of me for nine months, I remember what I'm really fighting for. QFT. Also: Well said, Wren Isabella.

I won't deny it. I do feel guilt when something like that happens.
However, this is also coming from someone who feels guilty about chewing the last piece of gum. I also regret every time I decide to talk. Hell, I'm ashamed of everything.
And to think, I represent the liberal side of things at my school. gonk

Lupine Pyrefly I dreamed my dad was pregnant once. eek My dad actually has a gut on him that makes him look like he's pregnant. My step mother just had my youngest baby sister on april 23rd, and since she's pretty much always looked pregnant to my other baby sister who is 16 months old and had been referring to her pregnant stomach as "baby" for so long, that once she lost the baby bump giving birth, my 16 month old baby sister started saying "baby" to my dad's stomach. razz

Can't say that I do. I get a little annoyed if it's repeated, but that's about it. Somehow, I've learned to ignore ignorant pro-life outbursts. Not really sure how I managed that one...
