LordCetra
well this is an interesting conversation and I don't know who to side with at least we all agree it never is the true Seph since he's in the center
no i say it is. and since when did the black materia give the capability to reach trough solid objects, it summons meteor. not flaming you lord centra, just the other guy.

Why does it matter how it happened? The main argument here is that its Sephiroth inside of the damned materia chunk for all but the end of the game. Asking how Cloud was able to reach through the materia is like asking why Sephiroth had no legs during that scene. Theres no real answer unless you worked on the project directly.

For any and all questions pertaining to this, refer to this page. Wikipedia is one of the most well informed and up to date places, with official information, that exists on the net today.

Copy and paste that link into your adress bar and have some fun reading. Thats the link to Sephiroth, which gives the answer as to what the Manifestations are.

It wasn't the Black Materia that let him reach through, but the fact that the lifestream was in a state of matter between solid and liquid in that it was liquid lifestream, but it was solidified to the point where is was free-standing. Either that or there is an external power holding it together.

OR

Remember in reactor 5, Cloud walks on mako, the mako is poured down a chute like a liquid. Maybe the lifestream was in a mako-esque state.

Well, I've been playing the game since I was about 6, and I didn't understand crap. I replayed it more recently and I've been researching for a good 1.5 years.

I'm saying that sepiroth didn't have to get crystalized in the chunk of materia, which is what everyone else claims.

Well sure he didnt have to, but he kinda chose to after hurling himself into the Lifestream with Jenova's head....(using Last Order events, more accurate)

actually, it did. there's an alternate path where cloud goes down a big chute and walks across mako. I'll get a photo at some point.
