But sadly...he wasn't here. The room was mostly empty...lit by a single bare bulb hanging from the ceiling.
Next to the area where Terra was lying was a series of bottles and syringes - they appeared as if they had been left in a hurry.
The door also had a long slash across it....
A scythe?
Or....
A sword?

Her eyes lifted to both the syringes and the slash. A shudder crawled up her spine and buried itself into her neck. Crawling to the edge of the straw, she tentatively tried to stand up, but found herself falling back down. Emotionally and mentally drained, her physical self couldn't react as it should. She was simply much to worn out.
She wanted to scream, she wanted to bawl, she wanted to break something... all at once. But she couldn't. The tears had ceased and her throat wouldn't allow any flowing of words. She felt utterly, and hopelessly alone and scared.
Nothing is more terrifying than the unknown.

Somewhere outside the door, there was a faint creaking. Someone walking by. The footsteps were deliberate...and by the sounds of things, whoever it was had a long gait.
Then there was a long scrrrrrrrrriiiiitttchhhh at the door.

She felt her eyes on the door. She knew she was looking at it, but her vision was blurred and the details were vague. She drew her knees up and wrapped her arms tightly around them. Burying her head into her arms she did the only thing she could do.
Pretend she wasn't hearing anything.

Another long scratching sound....
Then silence.
...Until a blade thrust straight through the door, protruding into the room.

As though she'd been struck herself, Terra simply screamed. Her voice, it seemed, had found it's way back and she was taking full advantage of it. Her entire body quaked and she found herself in the corner of the room, dragging her knees up and almost in some sort of awkward fetal position.
As though, somehow, that would help.

The blade wiggled, pulled out, then sunk in again, knocking off one of the decrepit hinges.
On the other side, someone spoke.
"That's right...scream, child...scream...."

The mentioning of her screaming abruptly cut off the incessant noise. The sound of the hing coming off reminded her of the doorknob from... earlier? Had it been earlier? She still didn't quite know.
She pushed herself as far into the corner as possible, wanting nothing more than to disappear then... what she wouldn't give to be home right now...

The door was knocked down....
Revealing a tall, lanky man in a business suit...with a patchwork burlap face and wild blue eyes.
Holding a rusty scythe.
"...No more screaming? How boring...."

Terra turned her head towards the sound, her eyes looked hazy, and unclear.. almost foggy. She opened her mouth, to scream, to talk? No sound came out however and her small jaw closed once more.
"S...sc..." she finally managed out. Scarecrow.. yes... from before...

Only not AS tall...nor was his scythe bleeding. But his voice was the same.
"...S-S-SC...OUT WITH IT, GIRL!" He screamed this, pointing the scythe at her.

Physical discrepancies aside, it didn't matter. Her mind was bleeding them together as one and the same. A perfect overshadowing and mental melding.
She tried to back herself further into the corner as he screamed at her but felt her head crack against the wall causing her to yelp out in pain. She turned her eyes, deer caught in headlights, to him. Her voice gone but her lips simply formed perfectly the word.
"Scarecrow."

"Good girl...." He lowered the scythe, staring down at her.
"Tell me your name."
His eyes narrowed, glimmering with glee at this situation.

"T..Terra." her voice cracked as she spoke. Her knuckles were now white from clenching into her knees. Her nails had dug into her knees breaking the skin. A tiny trickle of blood moving down her calve.

"Terra," he echoed, slowly lowering himself to her eyelevel. His voice dropped to a whisper.
"You're bleeding...."
Not sounding concerned in the least. Almost...singsongy.
