i_heart_mychemicalroman it depends on your definition of "emo". i find them very emo, they write from their hearts and express themselves very strongly. that is emo to me. EMOtional. i read through all of the posts and i finally found somsone i agree with so yeah, i agree with you, and either waythey will still be my favorite band...

My Chemical Romance is one of my favorite bands. And Good Charlotte is good too, I don't like how everyone bashes them! Still, MCR is ten times better. mrgreen

By the way, I don't consider MCR emo at all. I see them more "gothic" or "punk".

HellMistress_Frizzy Their sound is quite different from everything else out there, I find it hard to categorize. I'd say it's alternative/pop/punk-ish with an "emo" flair ("emo" meaning what people call emo these days, not at all like the original genre) yah lets go with that......[-hey its me-] sounds good to.....so its horror punk/alternative/"emo"flair/kinda goth/WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THESE GUYS ARE MY FAVE BAND AND I heart THEM BECAUSE THEY ROCK....NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE HOTT 3nodding

I personally find MCR as a throwback to the old old emo bands when emo first became popular. That ghoulish tone and their lyrics are similar to the early emo bands like The Used and Thursday......Now emo has gone off in other directions, but MCR still remains to the old hardcore emo.

This is my veiwpoint on it, who cares what genre it is, genre's these days have been so divided and sub-divided that is hard to tell whats what anymore, face it theres always somone who will disagree, so it truely doesn't matter whats what, as long as you love the band, if you dilike it because its not emo, but you secretly love them, there's something wrong there, sport your love for a band,if someone bashes, bash back...

Yeah, I fight with my friends about this alot.
MCR isn't emo, in my opinion of the word.
But everybody has their own sense of emo I suppose.

I don't think they're emo. Sure they scream a lot and he talks about death in almost all of his songs, but Gerard does not sing about emo things. And as people, they're some of the most cheerful drug addictics that I've ever seen!

No. Their OLD Album "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" was emo. I love all My Chemical Romance songs Because I'm the #1 Fan. =] (TRUST ME) I like the old CD better.
And you're right. good charlotte Does NOT deserve to have the g and c capitilized. They suck like a cheap 2 dollar whore.

No. They are "violent pop". They even said so in an interview.
