"Reading is fun, but I like being read to more. And I haven't been to many places either, mostly here or at the HQ. I would like to go to different places though." Paestri states.

When the familiar tinkling of bells reaches her ears, the pink Legend grins brightly. "He's heeeeere~" she cheers. "C'mon, Demare."

Without so much as batting an eye, she takes Demare's hand into her own and tugs at him to join her.

Demare blinked a few times, blushing slightly as she began to drag him by the hand to where the ice cream vendor was approaching. Was this the same way Mayu would have taken him to get ice cream had he been able to walk at the time?

"What kind of ice cream do you like, Paestri?" he asked curiously.

"Anything really, chocolate, vanila, strawberry, cookie dough, double dutch." Paestri listed, "Especially with candy sprinkles or marshmallows or syrup." Holding hands with someone she had just met didn't seem strange or uncomfortable for her. She would have easily done the same with Mayu, Loki, heck even Kevin.

"How about you?" she asked as they arrived at the vendor.

He smiled at them and upon noticing how the two children were holding hands he winked at Demare. "So, what flavor will it be today?"

Demare blinked up at the vendor, staring at him with his blank eyes for a moment, not really understanding what the wink was about. He noticed that was something adults often did regarding certain things, some sort of secret language he felt was probably unnecessary. I mean, how would everyone know just what exactly the wink was referring to?

"Um... Strawberry for me, please," he told the vendor after a moment of thought. Why he thought about it, he didn't know, as that was the flavor he ALWAYS got.

He couldn't help but smile a little bit, recalling the dog incident when he was with Mayu. Idly, he wondered if he'd get to actually eat his ice cream this time.

"Cookies and cream for me, please." Paestri nodded, "With sprinkles!" she giggles. The wink of course had gone unnoticed, she seemed to have been to mesmerized by the selection of flavors. "No cotton candy today?"

It was quite evident Paestri had a sweet tooth. Fact of the matter is, everyone in her family (those who ate human food at least) had one heckuva sweet tooth.

Malady moaned and shivered at the thought of ice cream. It didn't like the cold, not one bit. It hated it, almost as much as it hated the rest of the world.

"Why does anyone eat that junk?" it gags.

Demare couldn't help but smirk a bit at Malady's comment. Demian would probably get along with her, but he feared what he could possibly do to the poor girl the grey spirit was attached to.

"What is... cotton candy?" he asked curiously. Neko tried to keep most sweets from him, only allowing him ice cream sometimes, and maybe a little bit of chocolate. Something about him still being a kid and subject to possible sugar rushes, whatever that was.

The man gave the children their orders and continued to ring the bells to draw more children to him.

Paestri tilted her head to the side in amazement that Demare had never heard of cotton candy.

"They're like little clouds on a stick and depending on the flavor can taste minty, or like grapes or strawberries." She explained as she began to lick at her cone. "Oh, want to see something pretty?" she asked, "You're not the sort who doesn't like waiting, are you?"

Demare thanked the man as he was handed his ice cream, taking a lick before looking back to Paestri. Why would someone want to eat clouds? Or... maybe they weren't clouds, but cotton like its name suggested. Nevertheless, it sounded interested. He'd have to try to track some down another time.

"I don't mind waiting," he said with a smile, adjusting the book in his arm a little bit. "And I like pretty things."

"Yay! It's over by that hill, we just have to sit down and wait before I can show you the pretty!" She giggled, she knew very well it was called a Sunset but she still liked referring to it as a "pretty." Once again, she takes Demare by the hand.

Over the hill? They had to wait for something to show up over the hill? In the back of his mind, the halfling knew what it was, but he shoved the thought aside, idly hoping it was something else. Granted, he had no idea what time it was now, having gone out to do his reading so late in the day.

He blinked as she took his hand, his wings drawing in close to his back as he followed her where ever she was intending to take him.

Eagerly, she led Demare to her favorite spot of sunset-watching. Every sunset was different, but no matter what time it began, Paestri knew it would always be beautiful.

"Do you go to the park often?" She asks in between licks of her ice cream.

Malady was grumbling in boredome and distaste, what was so special about a sunset? It's just the sun going down. Big whoop.

Demare licked at his ice cream a little bit, looking at the surroundings for a moment. He'd never really been to this part of the park before, nothing really looking that familiar to him.

"Yeah, I try to come here a couple of times a week," he said a bit absently, taking a small bite of his cone. "I come here to study when it gets too noisy in the house. What about you?"

Paestri

PostPosted: Sun Jun 25, 2006 12:27 am

"It gets noisy at your house? How many of you are there?" Paestri could consider herself lucky that the ones living in her house were anything but energetic. What with the antisocial Avitus always locking himself in his room, the neat-freak Ning more interested in tidying things than talking, it was her niece and Linneas who were the noisiest in the house. Her mama was usually busy with managing the inventories and paying bills, she hardly had time to be with her.

Which didn't really bother Paestri, now that she thought about it. Being alone was fine. Being with someone was fine. She didn't really see much of a difference.

"Too many," he mumbled under his breath, then caught himself as he frowned slightly. "Well, there's me, Manior, Layla, Johanna, Tai-Bo, Xiao, For'mir when he's not hiding, Juubei, Sora, David, Cocoa, Tea, Mocha... The list could go on for quite a while. Sometimes I wonder if I've actually met everyone I live with, as there's always a new face somewhere."

That bothered him a little bit, but he never said anything because he knew Neko loved giving a home to orphans. He just worried sometimes that she was digging herself into some sort of hole that she'd never be able to get out of.

"What about you? Do you have a lot of brothers and sisters?"

"Wow, that's a lot of people, or are some of them pets?" Paestri blinks, trying to remember how many Demare mentioned was difficult enough, let alone figure out who were human and who weren't. "I have just one older brother, and he has a daughter, a Feien, and a Fandangle. There's also a Dream that mama owns, and that's pretty much it. I know mama says Uncle Syrie shares the house with his son, but I haven't seen them ever." She shrugs.

"There aren't many of us at home." She states in realization. "But I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. What do you think?"
