"D'aww, 'm sorry. I hadta scout out a good room, or i'd get stuck with Billi and Gayfo... And they snore." Mauli wrinkled her nose, squeezing him tightly in the hug. She suddenly pulled away and blushed, avoiding his eyes. Then, clearing her throat, she motioned to the sword attatched at her waist. "I met one of those spirits... They're pretty cute." She laughed. "Jack saved my butt, then gave me one of the weapons he says'll hurt 'em... Everything clear on the fourth floor?" The change of subject was quick, almost as if she were trying to have a normal conversation. Odd. o_o

Isto suddenly became very interested in the wall... In any case, he was avoiding Mauli's eyes, absently scratching the back of his head..with his normal hand. He laughed hesitantly at the mention of the spirit, hand falling back to his side. "Cute, huh? Was it one of those little snake-ish ones? They're the only things remotely resembling cute... Fourth floor's clear," he added, glancing back up the stairs. "I was just about to lock up. Don't want any of the smaller sibs wandering up there and getting eaten by something..."

"I'm wondering... If we can't hit them, how can they hit us? They're like ghosts." Mauli laughed again, braving a look back up at him. Phew, he wasn't staring at her... "It was a snake, yeah. With back legs, fangs, and a temper. Tried biting me, and I managed to climb onto the canopy... S'when Jack came in. I thought for sure he'd say something smart about the situation, but I guess he understood."

"Certain parts of 'em are almost solid," Isto explained, as if he'd already done it a few times before. "Not quite, but much moreso than the rest of 'em. Teeth, claws..a few kinda have tail barbs. Those sorta things can hurt you, the rest'll just go right through." He chuckled softly, risking a glance back at her. "Then can't go through the walls or doors, I've noticed. Must be spelled or summat... Ehh..." He shrugged, "That kinda thing happened to Jack when we first moved in. 'Cept he had to run from it until he was lucky enough to find the weapons." Isto chuckled softly with the memory. Ah, he'd give almost anything to see Jack run in terror from a little snake creature again...

"Well, I just 'ope nothing else escaped... I'd hate for one of the others to be stuck in their rooms without any help." Mauli suddenly felt tired; The move had taken a lot out of her, and the initial excitement of arriving had worn off. Her legs shook as she fought to stay standing, a weak smile plastered on her face. "I think... I'll check up on everyone, help Lenta move the luggage to each room, then make sure everyone's fed and grab a bite to eat myself. Then... maybe a long nap..." She rested up against the railing, a silent sigh of relief escaping her as it eased the feeling of faintness.

Isto's grin quickly faded, replaced by a worried frown. After a moment he shook his head, then nodded down the stairs. "No...you get some rest. C'mon, I'll help you to your room. Don't worry about the luggage. Jack an' I can get that done easily enough. And I'll even bring you somethin' to eat, if you want." Not borthering to wait for a reply, he flashed a faint smile and looped an arm around her shoulders, steering her back down the stairs. "Bloody huge house... It's the staircases, y'know. More trouble than they're worth."

Mauli mumbled a soft indignant reply, but it was lost in the air as she was helped down the staircase. Most likely something about being able to do it herself... But eh, that's Mauli for you. "I'll get summat to eat after a nap, and then take care of the luggage..." She grumbled, leaning into him a bit. "And... Maybe they'll be okay until then, hmm? I suppose Jack's looking into it already, since he got into my room." Silencing herself, she quietly studied each bit of the hallway, making a mental note to come back and look the whole house over later. Wow... She was already falling in love with the place.
(COUGH, and that's not the ONLY thing, COUGH. o.o)

((Yes, Lenta and I were both rather pissed about it e.< Still are, in fact. *Stomps off cursing about how the entire species is going to die out*

"They'll be fine. And I'm sure he is. Either that, or dinner's ready...But it seems a bit too early for that." Isto yawned, stumbling down the final stair and turning down the hallway towards the next flight. "Might take a short nap m'self... Moo woke us up early today to finish getting everything ready." His eyes absently wandered the hallway, noting how...dull and overly fancy the walls were. He made a mental note to get Banda up here with a few cans of spray paint, then, upon reaching the next flight of stairs, started down to the second floor.

"This house is awesome..." Mauli whispered softly, her hand suddenly flying up to her mouth as a large yawn escaped her. Her eyelids were drooping now, and the SM girl felt as if all the blood had leaked down into her feet. "B-but it needs an elevator." She commented dryly, the first word tinted by the sound of the end of her yawn.

Nodding his agreement, Isto chuckled softly, stealing a glance down to her. Almost immediately he repositioned his arm, looping it beneath hers to help her remain standing. Dang, she really was tired... Within a minute or so they were down the stairs, and Isto had turned down the hall, only to pause and once again glance to Mauli. "Err...which room did you pick?"

"Fifth... room to the right." Mauli nodded, then straightened herself up, mustering the energy to reach her room. Dyang, not being able to walk sucked! "Thanks, Isto. I promise I won't be so sucky tomorrow." Ending with a dry laugh, she stepped slowly towards her room.

Laughing, Isto helped her the rest of the way to her room. He paused just outside the door, and, when he was sure she could stand, slid his arm free. And now..he wasn't sure what to do. "Well...I'll see you later, then. I'm gonna head back upstairs, take a nap of my own. The West Wing's mine, so... if you need me, that's where I'll be. Somewhere in there.."

Leaning against the door, Mauli nodded at Isto's words, then shoved the door open and stumbled in. Then, as if forgetting something, she turned and wobbled back, kissed him on the cheek, then grinned. "Thanks." With that, she turned and went back in, closing the door behind her and immedietly colapsing on her bed.
And no stupid spirit had better wake her up. stare
