Jayde looked on at Elysia, who looked almost ready to fall over in the snow.
"That's a long trip," she said sympathetically. "Would you like to come inside and get some cocoa? I just made some and a batch of ginger cookies." Well, Damen made the cookies, but she didn't have to say that.
Corli's head perked up a little at the name of his favorite drink, but he was quite cozy being held by Aiko.
"Tay," he started, his brow furrowing. "Taiyou...Taiyoukai?"

Lyra's heart did a strange lurch in his chest when he saw Aiko holding Corli. He wondered what she'd look like holding...he shook his head. Probably better not to think about that.
But he couldn't help but walk up to her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and kissing her cheek.
"Merry Christmas," he whispered in her ear.

"Taiyoukai. It's a word for someone who is full demon. I'm a hanyou. That means I'm half."
She leaned up against Lyra and closed her eyes, trying so hard not to burst into happy tears. Fortunately for both parties, she won that battle, and took to sniffling once as she held Corli close and rubbed her cheek against his chest.
"Merry Christmas."
"Hot cocoa would be wonderful, Lady Jayde, but I couldn't stay for much longer than a cup. Lord Nigel is at home with the children." Elysia forced herself to stand up and start following Jayde.
"And thrilled to be there." Ivory trotted after her.

"If you're half, and I'm full, why are you so much taller?" Corli asked, almost pouting up at her. The pout was forgotten as he snuggled in with Aiko and Lyra.
"Well, instead of making a trip back there, why don't we send Lyra and Dav to bring them here?" Jayde suggested cheerfully as she made her way up the stairs.

Lyra was warm, starting from the inside out as he held the two of them.
Wait...
"Now what are you having me do?" he asked, sending Jayde a funny look, tightening his grip slightly around Aiko as if declaring that he wasn't going to let her go.
Much less to go and pick up more kids.

Aiko chuckled and messed with Corli's hair again -- she enjoyed doing that.
"That's the way the world works, Yuki." She heard Lyra fuss, then felt a little more pressure as he held her closer. "Well... we could both go...?" she suggested, then looked up at him. "I'm sure the kids'll love to play in the snow and have another Christmas." One with their mother.
"That sounds like an excelent idea, Lady Jayde," Elysia said as she stepped up the stairs, holding up her red skirts so as not to step on them, and to brush some of the snow off of them.
Ivory trotted behind.
"Right now, hot cocoa sounds even better."

"Yes, I definitely think we should all have Christmas over here! I mean, there's plenty of room!" The white-haired girl chattered somewhat aimlessly as she entered the house and made her way into the kitchen. There she got out a large, shallow cup for Ivory and a mug for Elysia and filled them with the steaming cocoa.
The shallow mug on the floor for the Kath and the regular mug on the table, Jayde shortly followed them with a few cookies.
"Eat up," she said with a smile. "Sounds like you need the energy."
Corli, meanwhile, was beaming up at Lyra.
"Oh, does this mean I get to go to the city? Really, really, really?" Excited, he bounced up and down in Aiko's arms.

Lyra stifled a sigh and tried to remind himself that he was happy because Aiko was there as they celebrated this holiday. In the middle of the summer. But since when was anyone counting, well, anything?
"I suppose we can all go," he finally conceded.
"Eh, Dav?" he called out, looking up to the roof of the house where the great dragon was keeping the building well heated.

"Thank you, Lady." She inclined her head as she sipped at the hot cocoa.
Ivory wrinkled her nose for a moment, then dipped her head down to lap up the hot cocoa, herself.
What she wouldn't give for opposible thumbs...
Aiko smiled and kissed Lyra's jawbone.
"Domo," she whispered to him. "Thanks."

Dav opened his eyes when he heard his name. Stretching and shaking the snow off, he peeked over the side of the house.
"Hrere arre hwee ghoing?" he said groggily. As a creature of fire, the snow was slowing him down, as much as he was enjoying it. Again he stretched, trying to wake up his dozing body, and get the blood flowing again in his cold limbs.

With not quite as much grace as usual, Dav stepped off the edge of the roof and clambered down the side of the tree, making it down to the ground with an earth shaking thump.
"Hlaady Aikho," he said with some difficulty, inclining his head down to her. "It hisss a plheassure to see hyou aghain."

Aiko didn't move as the ground shook, and she reached up to pat his nose as Dav inclined his head.
"Good to see you, too. Think you have a round trip to go get my kids in ya?"
Elysia tried not to make a face as some of the hot cocoa sloshed onto her red dress.
Ivory tried the same as some got up her nose.

Dav smiled a very large, toothy smile at her and nodded.
"Hyess, I belieff I am fheeling betther by thhe mhoment. Iff hyou'd lhike, lhadyy?" He bent his neck down even further, that it might be...relatively easy for her to clim on his surprisingly flat back and settle somewhere between his wings.
Inside the house, Jayde was horrified.
"I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed at Elysia's dress. The hostess in her was crying out in near agony, but at least it was only a small spill. Oh, she was going to have to talk to Dav about leaping off the house while there was company around!
"Is there anything I can get you?"

Elysia smiled kindheartedly up at Jayde.
"No fretting, Lady. It's just a small spill. Something I can get over. I'm just tired, I suppose. Between you and me, M'lady weighs a little more than she looks..."
Ivory sneezed.
"It's muscle, though."
"Thanks, Dav."
Outside, Aiko set Corli down and contimplated how she was going to climb up on the dragon's back. She could hop, she supposed...
