Well, my magazine comfirmed that FF7 was going to be remade, but I don't trust it.

I'm not going to get my hopes up, because if these rumours of FF7 being remade are false, I will be soo.. crying

Anyway, if it is remade, I would buy the PS3 and buy that game in a heartbeat biggrin

The E3 never comfirmed anything, they always avoid the question by saying if we remake the game it's gonna be on ps3 but they never actually said they would do it. Tho I have to admit it would be really sweet if they actually did

I hope its true...

There is no official confirmation on it yet. I dont doubt that they will remake it, but even if they did, why would they announce it well over a few years before itd even be released? They may be working on it right now, but since it would require several years to complete the basics of the game since its a remake from scratch and through a scratch-made processor, they wouldnt announce it so early.

despite what i have heard hayate22 say, i think square enix should go towards x-box, who gets all the other awesome rpgs. and a ffVII remake would be the perfect game to do that with.

(ps hayate22 they have released games for nintendo more recently then you claim. like crystal chronicles for game cube. or tactics advanced for the gba.)

I personally think they will remake it. It's too much of a money-maker not to. But I wouldn't think it would be in the pipeline for a good while, considering they're making Final Fantasy XII for PS3 next, and Tetsuya Nomura is heading up that (Thus, I doubt he'd be working on such a big game as Final Fantasy VII at the same time, but who knows.) This, along with Jinnari Kisaragi's theory that it would be announced on the Tenth Anniversary of Final Fantasy VII, makes me think it has a very good chance.

I've heard also that when/if they remake it, nothing will be changed except for the graphics. I also read that there is a reason why Vincent and Yuffie will not be in the ending sequence of the game, because they were helping people evac. in Midgar. I DO NOT claim to know this for a fact, its second-hand info from a place I don't recall, but it sounded reliable and good to me, enough so for me to remember. ^ ^;;

Also, it was said that they were looking for a good way to wrap up the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, and what would be a better way than with a remake, ne? ^ - ^;

As of this exact moment A PS3 remake of Final Fantasy VII is not possible. All the original producers and programers are currently working on the Final Fantasy XIII list of games, Kingdom Hearts III and a list of other compilations for Squares most famous series.

They estimate that it would take roughly 5 years to make and the devkits for the PS3 [the programs allowing for graphic programing for PS3 games] were only released in 2005.

I realize that EGM released a comment on the tail end of page 76 but sadly it is not true and a physical impossiblity. They said that it will be released in 2007, but they have not released a single source tas to were they got the information.

Like many people I am sad when faced with these realities. Square has however not left us die hards high and dry.

They have hinted at the idea that when the Final Fantasy XIII compilation of games is close to finished they may begin production on the Final Fantasy VII remake [this means that it may be released almost 15 years after the original] but hey, mario just keeps coming back so what's not to say that FFVII won't still be loved 5 years from now.
