Well, I craved the raw sushi when I was pregnant. I knew the difference in what not to eat or no. Basically, they say not to because of food poisoning. Food poisoning is NOT fun at all when you just have to ride it out.

Of course, I still love a lot of raw food now. Mainly rare steaks. Drool!

For me, it's been all about corned beef on rye bread.
And cheese. Any kind of cheese, on anything.

Also, I get random cravings for pumpkin. Like, cooked pumpkin, or maybe yams, or pumpkin bread - but it has to be sweetened.

The sad thing is, since I've gotten pregnant I cannot STAND artichokes - but I usually love them! Also, I've gotten an aversion to chicken.

And sometimes I really crave pork, even though I'm allergic to it. So that feels kind of weird.

Yum! I love my steaks very rare. Y'know what else is good if you don't mind being stinky (so it is a good idea to get the hubby to eat it too), garlic! What you want to do is peel up a whole garlic so you have just the cloves, then set the pieces in a square of tinfoil, pour some oil (olive is best) over is and sprinkle on some seasoning salt and bake it for an hour around 350 to 400 degrees. Then spread a few cloves over your steak. It is the tastiest thing ever.

Oo yum, roasted garlic steaks!! Heh, I'd get so mad if I was preggo and I saw someone order a well done steak! I told this one guy he should have just ordered a piece of cardboard. He just looked at me funny.

Gentle, I used to eat the icicles things with the flavoring when I was preggo so I wouldn't eat a tub of ice cream! Heh ice cubes!

I love garlic on my steaks! or should I say in them. We have garlic in the garden, so I just go out get some cloves and shove em right into the steaks, pffftt, cooking them first, just cook em in the steak! LOL

YAY! *hugs Luna while sucking on an icecube* mmmmm

I craved then during all 5 of my pregnancy's. I've always loved very rare meat, especially steak. When I go out to eat I tell them to just show my steak the grill. I remember one time we went out to eat and my dad ordered his steak rare, the waiter argured with him that rare was unfit for human consumption, My dad told him that rare was the best that it didn't get turned into cardboard. The guy actually served my dad the steak raw. (Remember this was 30 years ago) My dad ate the whole thing, but we never went back to that resteraunt, a short time later they got closed.

LOL! I love my steaks (and all meats) to be (very) rare as well. I too have gotten into arguments with waiters before over my 'health.' I usually tell them to make it as rare as their health regulations allow it. Sometimes they even look over to my husband, like they're checking for his approval about my order. He just grins and nods at them. It's hilarious. I am also known to tell particularly stupid waiters to just hold a match under my steak for a second or two, then bring it to me. 3nodding

I remember once I wanted my steak rare and (I think it was my grandmother) said "you can get e-coli from that!!!"... Actually, any e-coli present on the meat is on the surface. With steak, it would be cooked off. With something like hamburger, the meat is ground up so the meat that was on the surface is all throughout the meat. That is why you have to cook burgers all the way through.

Same thing with the kids that say that eating "uncooked" meat flavored mr. noodles would give you tapeworms. The only meat that I learned in Biology that could give you tapeworms was undercooked pork. The flavoring packet in mr. noodles is the same wether you boil the noodles or not XD;;

I normally prefur my steak med-rare

but yea, one other think that i have noticed about cravings is that you tend to have cravings for stuff that you may hate but the baby's father loves

my mom, while pregnant with my brother
(background infor, she loves pepsi and toltaly hates root beer, like with a passion, and my dad loves root beer)
well all though that pregnancy that she was carring my brother, she had major cravings for root beer and could not stand the taiste of pepsi, she would sit there drinking a can of root beer saying "I hate this stuff" and my dad would look at her and say "well then why are you drinking it?" and my mom would just say "Shut up and get me another one" it was extremly funny and my brother does love root beer and my mom dose dring her pepsi and to this day hates the taiste of root beer, it really is funny though..................... have you guys had any of thoes cravings that you toltaly hate but cant stop eating?????? they are very odd
right now I acasonally get cravings for garlic bread *someting my boyfriend likes, and I dont*

biigg difference Kristi between craving ice, and just eating it is, craving means, you have to have it, if there is no ice cubes in the freezer I will go down and get them or demand someone goes and gets me ice THEN
It is a solid craving, LOL Go figure Im once again sucking on icecubes as I respond to this. I bought more icecube trays to try and keep up with demand. smile

I like my steak medium well. never craved it rare, its too raw for my tastes, Bleh would of gotten sick if it was served raw to me. speaking of steak thats what were supposed to be having for dinner tonight mmm.

LOL *changes menu having come back from dinner* Sorry apparently people didnt cook tonight... as they were supposed to because Ive been cooking for the past couple weeks stressed scream So I took the steak, cut it into cubes, made some rice and made a steak stirfry.. okay.. I keep typing streak... LOL *corrects them*

I craved ice...err..rather everything i drank had to be EXTREMELY cold....with both pregnancies. I mainly drank ice water though because juices gave me heartburn and tea/pop made me jittery so I gave them up for the whole 9 months (though that was the first thing I had after each of them was born...a huge icy pepsi!).
With Alexis, I craved coconut cream pie...for like a month! Larry went to every store around (throughout the month) looking for one but it was out of season so no one had it. Then we went to Shari's for lunch one day and lo & behold, they had homemade coconut cream! I got a huge slice...ate the entire thing - practically drooling the entire time cause it tasted so good and I never craved it again! *LOL* The only other thing I craved with her was pickles....just dill pickles, I once ate like 6 of then in one sitting, then promptly threw up! *LOL*
With Brendan, I CRAVED grape Mr Misty's from Dairy Queen. For those who don't have them...they are like a snowcone in a cup with that horribley sweet grape sugar flavoring poured over it. *YUCK* (Now anyway) but I craved them like a mad woman! From about 6 to 8 months..then they sickened me! That was it with him.

I'm one of the members who hasn't been preggers, yet, but I constantly get teased about the cravings I caused in my mother.

She doesn't like meat and eats very little of it, but she had these crazy cravings for bacon when pregnant with me. To this day, bacon is one of my favourite meats. Pregnant or not, I've craved it regularly since puberty hit... that's when they started teasing me about it.

On a side note, I'm scared senseless of getting pregnant because I get cravings now! My folks will make jokes of "Are you suuure you're not pregnant?" I'll be pacing the kitchen nibbling on whatever I can until I can get what I want. Nothing else will make me feel full, and if anyone stands between me and the craved item...
God help them. sweatdrop
