Neither could my class. At least, not at first. I only got it (with a really bad accent) because of watching anime in Japanese. That was during my big "watching anime" phase so I highly doubt I could pull it off now.

I mostly know stuff that I've run through bad translators to turn into names for characters ("niijira", or some similar spelling, has something to do with rainbows, I know), or are food-related, that I know from trying to order sushi I want at restaurants where the waiter doesn't speak english very well. (Yum, ebi.)

That was during my big "watching anime" phase so I highly doubt I could pull it off now. I learned my Japanese by wathcing so much anime sweatdrop ...And me being half Korean and Chinese helped too. So wait...Wouldnt that make me Japanese if Im half Korean and Japanese...The first settelers in Japan where Chinese and Korea... eek ...The Chinese I believe gave the country literacy and the Koreans gave religion. So Im thinking that maby Im biologicaly Japanese Lol

I learn my Japanese a lot through anime as well, like "mazoku". I would have never learned that word if I hadn't watched Slayers.

I can pronounce any Japanese word you put before me, it will take me a second but I've studied sites on how to pronounce it WAY more than I should. The problem is, I can barely form sentences on my own. I can say a few basic things but if someone were to speak fluently to me, I could only pick out a few words. sweatdrop
Anime helps a lot.
Also, about Lord Beastmaster and what would happen if she was killed, my friend and I had this to say....
Deshi: If Zelas-sama died, would Xelloss? Tarahime: good question o.o Deshi: I mean, Valgarv didn't... but... Deshi: Xel was created through her power. Tarahime: i don't think so though b/c Valgarv didn't die when Garv did Deshi: He was reborn a monster, ne? Tarahime: well, Valgarv inherited Garv's power Deshi: But Xel is MADE of her power. Tarahime: i guess we'll never know for sure lol Deshi: ^^ GOOOOOD
For those who have never seen her, Tara-sama owns many really good Slayers sites. ^^

As I meantioned before, he could very well be destroyed by it, but not through the trauma or shock or anything. The power Juu-ou-sama gave him is his. He is connected to her and I'm sure her destruction would affect him. I think that in order to destroy Juu-ou-sama, you'd have to go through Xellos first.

Yeah, he would most likely die protecting her. That's his purpose.

I learned all of the Japanese I know through watching anime. Not that that's saying much... I only know about 50 words/phrases. redface However, if I'm given the phoenetical spelling, I can usually pronounce the words.

I know a few random words, mostly related to anime, and some other things that you hear often and are easy to figure out, like "-sama" and "baka".
