Demare blinked a few times, having followed her to the door, before taking hold of the door himself and gesturing for her to step outside.

"Actually, ladies first," he said, bowing slightly.

"Last time someone said that, I got smacked with a flowerpot upside my head ..." She murmured to herself, but thanked Demare anyway. The setting sun was a sight she hadn't really gone out and appreciated in a while, and she loved watching the skies fade to purple.

"The fireflies are out tonight," she noted, watching the little insects flickering to life as the sun slowly moved beneath the horizon.

Demare blinked, raising a brow at the comment. She was smacked by a flower pot...?

"Well, I promise you that there isn't any flying flower pots around here," he said, stepping outside once she'd left. "And if there are, I'll be sure to not let them hit you."

Letting the door close quietly behind them, he turned his eyes toward the sky, a smile on his face that never seemed to fade. That was one of the big differences between Clare and Demian, really; Clare loved to smile. A tiny light passed by over him, and he grew curious.

"Fireflies...?" he asked after hearing her. "What are those?"

Mayu had to laugh at the boy's words, and managed to gasp out a thanks between her giggles. "Flowerpots do hurt a lot when thrown at a good speed, you know." She said after she had calmed down a little, remembering the cut she had gotten on her forehead just from that.

Her eyes grew wide, however, at Demare's question. "You've never seen a firefly before?"

With a quick hand movement, Mayu snatched one of the flickering lights straight out of the air, although making sure not to hurt the little creature. Cupping the insect in her palms, she held her hands out for the boy to see.

"Now, THIS is a firefly."

Demare stepped a little closer to Mayu, reaching his hands up to hover over hers, but for some reason was careful not to touch them. Peering into her cupped hands, he watched the tiny flickering light that she'd called a firefly, his eyes growing wide with amazment.

"It's so... beautiful," he breathed out, wondering why he'd never seen them before now. He knew Demian wouldn't have appreciated them at all, and was suddenly glad he'd taken the body back for a little bit.

"I've never seen anything like these before. I mean... not any creatures. I've only made my own little lights."

Mayu
"They're always out on a clear night," Mayu said, watching the specks of light dart about in a mad frenzy. "But they disappear when daylight comes, just like the stars."

Letting her hands drop, Mayu watched the firefly which was cupped in her hands flitter away into the darkness, beneath the dim horizon. "Your own lights?" She asked, curious.

Demare watched as the little insect flittered off, almost sad to see it go. They faded out like the stars? Perhaps that just added to their beauty. Looking back to Mayu, he nodded a little bit.

"Yes," he said softly. "I have the ability to create light."

The halfling got a curious idea. "Would you like to see?"

Mayu
Tilting her head slightly, Mayu nodded, she had never met anyone who could produce light before. In fact, she hadn't seen any of the other Legends' powers, save for the haunted house incident with Loki a week ago.

"I'd love to!" She exclaimed, wondering if she was sounding too eager. She wanted to see just what kind of power this Legend had.

Demare's smile grew a little. Wonderful! He'd been wanting to show someone the new trick he'd learned, but didn't know just who to show it to. Who better to show than a new friend?

Taking a step back, he closed his eyes as he held up his left hand a little bit, concentrating for a moment as a small ball of light began to form in his hand. Once the ball was about the size of his palm, he opened his eyes a little bit, tossing the orb into the air. He then snapped his fingers, and the orb seemed to explode into hundreds of little tiny lights, floating about, not too much bigger than the fireflies.

"Ah! How pretty!" Mayu exclaimed, clapping with admiration. It reminded her of the fireworks she had seen at the festivals and parties the past year, but without the loud pop that usually made her flinch.

Standing back, she awaited to see what would happen next.

Demare blushed slightly at the comment, continuing with what he was doing. He began to move his left hand from left to right, up and then down, and continued with this motion. It looked as if he were conducting music. While he did this, the lights began to move around, floating lightly and swaying to the "music", dancing around and with the fireflies as if they were the same.

Mayu's eyes followed the lights intently, watching them dance along with the fireflies as if the night sky was an elaborate stage, and they themselves were the dancers. They seemed to waltz -- no, ballet, across the sky magically, and she found herself humming a piano song which her guardian loved to play very often. The tempo of the song matched the ballet very well, and she decided she would nickname it after the fireflies; after all, it was only fitting.

Demare chuckled silently as he watched Mayu, listening to the song she was humming. While continuing to conduct, he made a couple of the lights begin to circle around the girl in a graceful twirl.

"What are you humming?" he asked curiously, wondering what the song was.

"Oh, this song? It's nothing special, my mum likes to play it on the piano a lot so I just picked it up from listening to her. I'm not really sure what its name is, actually." Mayu said, watching the lights twirl about her in spirals.

The sky had darkened and the stars were out, illuminating the night sky with the aide of the crescent moon and the dancing fireflies. Even with all of the light pollution in the city, the myriad of stars were clearly visible in the night sky.

Wait, night sky? What time was it?

"Maybe I can find it somewhere... It sounds very pretty," he said with a smile, looking up toward the sky. Spotting the moon, he figured it would be best to head home soon.

A sharp pain in his head caused the lights he created to fizzle a little, the halfling losing his concentration for a moment. Demare's expression changed for a moment, a bit concerned over what just happened. There came a loud ring in his ears soon after, however, and he quickly grabbed at his head, wincing from the pain. The lights he made blinked out as his body shuddered.

Crap... CRAP! Why now? He needed to warn her... He needed to tell her to get away...

"I can get the sheet music copied or something?" Mayu pondered, knowing very well that her mother would kill her if she even took the sheets of notes outside of the house. She would have to hald-copy it or something, she supposed.

Looking over at the other Legend, Mayu frowned -- something was wrong! Was it the same thing that had happened before on the couch? "You-- you okay?" She asked, voice shaky with worry. It was getting late, and the crowds of pedestrians on the sidewalks had dissipated, leaving the walkways empty except for the occasional car that passed by. Where would she get help if they needed it?

Demare couldn't speak. His eyes were wide from the pain, and his mouth would open, but no words would come out.

Get away... he screamed in his mind. You have to get away before it's too late!

Unfortunately, it was too late before he even knew it. Demian had learned a new trick, as well; in the darkness, he could manipulate Clare's soul, and make the boy act not of his own.

This is what you get, angel came the snide voice as the two red eyes above the black eye slowly opened up. You think you can force me out without any warning and get away with it? You're DEAD wrong.

D-Demian, please! Clare begged, feeling the body relax as be felt control slip away.

Demare slowly let go of his head, dropping his hands by his sides as he straightened himself out, looking right at Mayu with a smile. Tears began to swell in his eyes, the angel frightened of what his other side might do.

I see you've made a new friend... the demon hissed.

N-no...

"I'm sorry... It seems it's getting late, and our guardians might be wondering where we are," the boy said, Demian mimicing Clare's style of speech.

"Yeah. You sure you're okay?" Mayu asked, frowning. He looked like he was in so much pain before, and now he was smiling? "Do you need to go to the clinic or anything?"

Maybe she was too much of a worrywart. Demare looked fine now, didn't he?

Demare shook his head a little bit.

"No, I'll be fine," he assured her. "I just need to rest, I think. But, before I go..."

Those flowers are... awful pretty.

Y-you... you wouldn't DARE!

Oh, wouldn't I?

"C-could I touch one of the branches? I've been wondering if they feel like normal ones..."
