Well, this isn't exactly karaoke, but whatever. It's karaoke of the fingers.
This is me playing Rent on my keyboard:

I'd like to note that, yes, I know parts of it are choppy and different volunmes than the rest of it, because I recorded it in sections. Actually, the majority of it is two different recordings that I had to like... splice together... using Sound Recorder. sweatdrop
And because I recorded it using a microphone, you can hear my fingers tapping the keys pretty clearly too. gonk
It's pretty low-quality in just about every aspect, but it's the first time I've ever done anything like this, and with that, I'm kinda fond of it, even with all it's blemishes. sweatdrop
And yes, I make mistakes. But some of them sound kinda cool, I think, so I guess it works out.
Anyway, yeah, so now you all know it's very unprofessional... (let's just call it bohemian. wink ) so, erm... enjoy! Or don't enjoy! Whichever it turns out to be. And I can handle critiquing, so go right on ahead, if you'd like. 3nodding

This is my friend, Ally singing Out Tonight. She wasn't really taking it seriously, and she made some comments between singing. She also refused to make some of the noises Mimi's supposed to make between the verses. Even though its weird at a few parts, I still think she's an amazing singer.

And I really loved all the laughing inbetween singing. And the noises she made when she wouldn't do them how Mimi does them. It was great even with that! 3nodding Fun to listen to. I think the laughter actually kinda adds to it, 'cause it's just a fun song, I guess.

the next thing i recorded is total crappiness. it's "another day" with me singing both roger and mimi's parts. i recorded them separate and mixed the files, which makes the timing a little off, plus i'm like coughing at the end but it took so long to put together i figured i would post it anyways.

That was pretty good. I like how you did the two parts and mixed them. True, they were SLIGHTLY off at times, but only slightly, and getting things to mix and sound good is something very time-consuming (though I've only tried it once. See my submission towards the top of the page, if you dare. sweatdrop ) but regaurdless, you made it sound very nice!! I enjoyed it, good job. 3nodding

OMG. I so want to record myself and post here... but I'm lazy and a coward. >< Besides, I doubt my parents would let me, and I don't know anyone with a video camera other than my relatives. ._.;;; *lives under a rock*
Ahem. I only got the OBC today, so I don't know the songs from that. But I can sing Out Tonight, Take Me or Leave Me, Without You, I'll Cover You and La Vie Boheme from the movie pretty well. My Seasons of Love is pretty good, but I have real trouble on high notes. Particularly in the verse 'Seasons of-- lo-o-o-ove'. I have to change the pitch of my voice to sing that and not sound like a music box or Julie Andrews with a head cold.

Well if you get a chance to, I say GO FOR IT! ^_^ And you don't really need a video camera. Every computer (windows, at least) comes with a program called "Sound Recorder" that you can do it in, and then just upload it to... putfile.com or something. If you feel comfortable enough about it, I'd say go for it. Besides, everyone here seems to be pretty encouraging. 3nodding I haven't seen one person yet who I thought had a rude comment about someone else's singing.
