Freedom! It was actually rather nice to be out of the house with her mother being all kissy and cuddly with her boyfriend, Eight was still excited over being with him for an entire year. It gave her a little exercise as well! Walking was good for you! Shauna was even humming as she walked, occasionally spinning just because...well...hey! It was almost summer! Have to have a little fun in your life!
Her ears perked when she suddenly spotted a familiar black wing through the trees, gasping softly and grinning. It was Lonan! And...who was beside him...? Elle? No, that couldn't be Elle, she had brown hair not blonde...and her skin was paler. She'd find out for sure in a minute, but for now she wanted to surprise them. Looking around, Shauna quietly snuck behind a tree with a childishly devious look on her face. If anyone were to spot her they'd know for sure she was only playing, the way she occasionally covered her mouth to hide nearly silent giggles. This was going to be fun.
She crept from tree to tree, suddenly thankful for the silence her padded footpaws provided. Hopefully she could get to the couple without her presence being made known, blinking when she spotted a familiar boy. Where had she met him...as a little girl, she knew...hm. Her memory was failing her at the moment.

Elle turned as someone called through the trees and rose, pulling Lonan gracefully up along with her. A sweet sense of mischief rose up from the woods, but Elle didn't think it was from the elf and the babe. Holding one hand up in greeting to the new arrivals, Elle kept one eye out for the nearby soul.
"Hello, welcome! It seems your stroll has steered you well, then! Won't you join us?" Spreading her hands to the decorations that Drac, Devi, and Lonan worked so hard on, Elle smiled warmly at the pair. Her hand tightened in Lonan's as she waited to see if they would stay, and her eyes moved for a bit to the edge of the forest.
Even if some things had changed, Elle's smile was still Elle's smile. Who was out there?!

Perched on a nearby tree branch was a smiling, ageless, odd-looking child and her masked charge. How long had they been there? It would be nigh impossible to discern- the child's life force was much like that of a tree, not to mention it was as if they had simply appeared there.
Chuu swung her currently bare feet contentedly, chuckling when a sudden breeze loosed a shower of blossoms onto her and Mirorim's heads. She would introduce herself to the presences below soon enough, but for now she was content to show the mirrorchild the joyful, encompassing presence of
"Spring," the younger child murmured, looking in muted wonderment at a small pile of blooms he had collected in his cupped hands.
The plum-furred treeborn smiled widely. "That's right! It's thought of as a season of new beginnings, but I think there's new beginnings in every season, every day."
"Beginnings..." Mirorim repeated. He looked pointedly at the contrasting couple nearby, before his gaze snaps over to a fox-footed familiarity just below them. Lifting up his cat's cradle, he briefly touched the rusty-red bead on it before looking back down and saying, "Shauna?"
This remark caused Chuu to look down in the direction that her adopted brother had cast his eyes. Gasping in joy, she replied, "Oh, it is Shauna! And she's grown up!" She wraps an arm around Mirorim's waist, saying, "Hold on tight, okay? We're going to say hi to her!" With that, the two jumped down, landing on the ground without so much as a sound.
Her smile is wide and cheerful as ever as she waves to Shauna with a muted chuckle. Hopefully she didn't surprise the fox girl too much!

She only had to sneak up behind one more tree...and then there was nothing but open space that could ruin her fun. Shauna frowned and sat down behind the tree out of sight of everyone in the orchard, stroking her chin with look of deep thought. How was she going to do this? She could do like in the cartoons and sneak up in a fake bush...but that was dumb, and where would she get a fake bush to hide in? Perhaps she should have thought this out more.
What was she going to do? Just run out there and glomp Lonan? Shauna peeked around the tree for a moment to get a good look at the situation, normally she'd recognize Elle's smile right off the bat but she couldn't see the woman's face! Boy would she be surprised. When the mystery woman looked around as if looking for something, Shauna quickly hid herself once more, catching a glimpse of a purple mouse and a little boy. Oh! It was...what was his name again...Ror! And the mousey girl! She grinned and waved a few fingers in greeting, putting one to her lips to signal for them to stay quiet.

Keen ears picked up on the sound of another figure moving through the orchard, but whatever it may be was exuding emotions of happiness so the elf decided to make no mention of it. Brim, too, though having no advanced hearing, seemed to pick up on it too, staring through the trees at the creature. "Shaaaunaaa..." he sounded out the vowels as if they were foreign to him in soft morphemes and phonemes.
Akina turned to ask him what he had said, but at that same moment, Elle called back to her. Rolling the words over, the elf glanced from Brim to the gathered folks and decided it would be healthy for him to meet new people. "Surely we would. Thank you so much!" Crossing the orchard in a few strides, she kept Brim close to her side and smiled at the assorted creatures. "Oh, and I'm Akina. This is my adopted son, Brimstone." She smiled in a cheesy nice-to-meet-you way.

At the introduction, Elle took a step forward, leaving Lonan's side to offer both hands to Akina. "I'm Elle, it's wonderful to have you." She would let Lonan introduce himself, but she shook her hair back and offered the dark winged young man an enouraging smile over one shoulder. Her eyes settled back to the child as she took the woman's hand with her own in greeting. He seemed somehow familiar...
"It's good to meet you both. I feel like we've met before, but..." Shrugging, letting Akina have her hand back, Elle tucked a bit of hair behind her ear and turned to reach behind her. Slipping one of the many garlands they'd woven from the tree branch, Elle held up the crown before the little boy.
Blue, purple, and white flowers knit together loosely, rustling as she lifted it. "Would you like a garland, to celebrate, Brimstone?" Elle was wearing one as well, bright and vibrant against the dark branches in her hair. As she offered, a noise nearby caught her attention, and she glanced toward Chuu and Mirorim...still not seeing Shauna.
"Welcome!" They definately looked familiar. Had she met them at the Halloween party?

Lonan smiled tollerantly and let himself be led to meet others like himself and Elle. It was odd. He got a few faint whisps of..... something from them. Familiarity without knowledge. That was odd.
He made no notice of Shauna behind him, trying to concentrate on one or two people at a time. "Brimstone? I don't think I've met him yet." His voice was soft near Elle's ear. They truely were a polar pair, Elle bright and warm and Lonan cool and a touch distant. Still they seemed to fit eachother.
"Then meet with them! This is part for you too!" Giving Lonan a small nudge with her tail she walked over to the others. "Welcome to Windchaser Hollow! The dashing, darkhaired lad is Lonan and the big one with the blue behind is Devmani."
Hearing his name mentioned the centaur rose into a small bow. "Pleasure."

Trying to keep her visage as friendly as possibly, Akina accepted the warm greeting from Elle happily, smiling so widely that her white teeth poked out a little bit. She couldn't help it; the girl was just so darn cheery! "If we have met before, I do not recall it, but if so, it's nice to meet you again," Akina mused, knowing that if she did not remember it than it probably never happened. Still, the empath in her could feel a kind of unity between a handful of the creatures here, connecting even to her little Brimstone but surpassing her.
Was it possible that they were all like the fire girl Ilistala that Brim and Akina had met a short while ago? It would certainly explain why the foxgirl Shauna was here as well. Odd. Definitely something to think about, though Akina decided not to waste her time doing it right that moment.
Meanwhile, Brimstone was eying the garland with wide eyes, likely contemplating whether to smash it and then eat it or crumble it up over Akina's head. In any case, the elf hoped to prevent disaster by answering for her son. "I'm sure he'd like one. Brim's just a little bit shy--"
"Give it!" the green-eyed ball of nuclear power suddenly decreed from Akina's arms. Apparently, he didn't like having someone else speak on behalf of him. Rudely, he jutted out greedy hands toward the garland, though he was still unsure of what it was exactly while Akina continued to smile apologetically at Elle.
The stirring of another creature behind this warm, bright-eyed girl grabbed both Brimstone and Akina's attention before another word could be said. Akina heard what he had whispered, but out of courtesy, she said nothing, pretending not to hear anything at all. Grateful that the foreign tailed-woman had intervened on the whispering creature's behalf, Akina's amiable smile returned as she greeted once more, "Nice to meet you, Lonan and Devmani. I am Akina, and this is Brimstone."
Blue eyes recognized the energy of the centaur boy as similiar to that of the angelic Shina and of all the Fa'e, though she had never laid eyes on him in particular before. It was always so strange to her how some many creatures were related and interrelated here in Gaia.

At the young one's outburst Lonan's 'gaze turned his direction. "Brimstone, if you yell you'll get nothing. If you ask you will get your fair share." Gently taking the garland from Elle stood infront of the smaller being, letting him look but staying out of reach. "All you have to ask is "May I?" and I will give this to you. Yell or demand and I will keep this. And asking is not such a hard thing. Agreed?"
He spoke no malice or ill intent in a voice nearly too soft to hear yet demanding to be listened to.
Behind them Devi moved closer, Kudzu safely tucked away in the playpen. "He's right. Just a rule around here. And Mumm is strong enough to trounce me 'round the yard still. Makes you want to pay attention."
He was rewarded by a swat to the head. "Hush you and play nice or I'm not baking!"
Looking scandalized he put up his hands in mock affront and stepped back.
"Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Draconayzia, or jsut Drac. And welcome."

Brimstone only listened to Akina and the television, and it had taken Akina lot of love and her own stubbornness to get this far as it was. So having Lonan chide him was not exactly something that the toddler was going to respond fondly too. Narrowing his eyes, he seethed at the strange man, contemplating ways to strike back. Brim was still too naive to realize that he would lose in a fight against Lonan, and instead, he resolved himself to plot.
Already a bit too curt for his age, the green-eyed Shattered scrunched up his nose at the sight of the garland as if it suddenly repulsed him, issuing a flat, "Ugh. Ugh-ly." How eloquent. Akina was mortified at the behavior of her son, shooting him one of her silent don't-make-me-embarrass-you-little-man glares. The toddler dropped his gaze once more, refusing to make eye contact with either adult.
In his early youth, Brimstone was not yet totally resistant to authority, and with a toddler-sized sigh, he lifted his wispy little voice to offer a grudging, "...I...am...sorry." One green eye raised to his mother for approval, but Akina was not yet satisfied. As if realizing what she was waiting for, the toddler added, "May I?"
After the terrible manners that Brim had showed with Ioyla and Ilistala a bit ago, Akina had really started to crack down on Brimstone's social graces. He wasn't around many people hardly at all, but when he was, he never left a good impression. Brim was just someone that a person had to warm up too... if they bothered to stay around long enough to find out.
Feeling better, the elf again smiled apologetically to Lonan before turning to greet Drac. "It's a pleasure to meet you," she echoed with a smile and nod, waiting to see how Lonan handled the seemingly reformed attitude of the little firecracker in her arms.

"It seems Draconayzia is not the only one with sway over her son." When he was asked politely he gave the child the garland without hesitation.
"All you need to do is ask politely and you'll get what you need. It's just the way things work around here. Being rude usually ends up with something being thrown at you." Devmani gave a bit of a conspirator's wink before he was wacked over the head with the bouquet Drac was holding.
"And you're proving it!" Drac gave him another good natured swat before turning her attention back to the guests.
"You're welcome to find seating and have snacks and drinks. THat's the whole point of this. There's room to play and Devi can probably supervise smaller children if they want to splash in the stream. It's nice and cool, coming down from the mountain."

Chuu heeds Shauna's silent request, and heads towards the group herself. There's a faint connection easily traced between Ror and many of the people here... it's calming, really. Not as if this one needs something to keep her in a good mood!
"Oh, hello!" she pipes to Elle. "I think I've seen you before. You feel familiar!" She is, of course, talking about the woman's life force. "My name is Chuu, and this is Mirorim. It's nice to meet you. And those are such wonderful flower crowns... you haven't hurt the flowers at all!" Her hands clasp at her chest- how awful it would be if those poor flowers had been harmed!
"Hello," the mirrorchild says shyly, with a ghost of a smile. This woman seems nice!

Akina smiled and chuckled lightly at both Lonan and Devmani's quips toward Brimstone. It did the little Shattered good to get smacked down every now and then. Extending a hand, the elf held the lovely little garland gingerly, presenting it to Brimstone with a be-careful-not-to-destroy-it look.
Radioactive green eyes surveyed the garland for a moment as a small hand tentatively reached out for it. Brimstone brought it to his nose, took a whiff, and curled his face away in surprise. Yes, this was the way he liked to identify new objects so Akina did not bat an eye as he next extended his tongue to get a quick taste of it too. Apparently, the taste of flowers was not something that Brim was fond of, judging by the way he scrunched up his nose.
"No, B, it goes on your head. Like this," Gently nabbing the garland from Brimstone's curious hands, Akina plopped it atop his mound of neon blue hair, smushing it down a bit so that it fit snugly. Brim shook his head once or twice, but ultimately decided to leave it.
Happy to let the attention fall off of her, Akina made her way over to the snack table, nabbing a piece of fruit. Brimstone wouldn't eat any of it, and she knew that. Thankfully, she had some disgusting capers to please her little guy's taste buds. Straight teeth chomped down on the cantalope, but a keen nose picked up on another far more stuble smell. Glancing over to Brim, Akina found the source.
Atop his head, the little garland had begun to turn grey, losing its color, and judging by Brim's expression, he had no clue that he had accidentally sucked the life out of it. The little toddler was a vat of energy, and apparently, the garland had not escaped his uncontrolled abilities. Akina put on a kind smile though, hoping not to upset Brimstone. For whatever reason, he absolutely hated it when he was surprised. So, grabbing another fruit, the elf led her little Shattered away from the mass of people to sit on a grassy spot off to the side.

Elle listened to Lonan's patient explanation, smiling to herself even as she nodded to Chuu in their seperate conversation. They had different ways of teaching, but his was no less effective. Elle simply didn't have the commanding presence to encourage such cooperation!
"Well, Chuu, it's a pleasure! And Mirorim." Offering the boy a nod, Elle settled down more comfortably upon the grass. "Elle." Though she had already introduced herself, Elle repeated her name as she offered the boy a hand. Over the crook of her other arm, spare garlands hung...warm colors and cool. "I have one for you as well, if you'd like!"
As she offered, Elle glanced back again to Akina and Brimstone. She wasn't worried for the drained flowers...she'd only picked those that had seeded, or were ready to. The blossoms were already celebrating their end. But the guardian offered a strange echo...another empath? Her eyes shifted back to the boy with a smile as she put the matter aside for now. What an interesting day already!
