Meriko Meave: Well...shading is the same as drawing, except that I use an airbrush tool instead of a pencil tool so that it looks softer. And then I smudge it to make it even smoother. keetabirdy: That is an amazing first attempt~ *applause* ...err....allow Meave to be rude and say, : IS NOT THE SAME! sweatdrop Meave has reasons to back up! 3nodding Drawing is draw the line, but shading is shade the side darker and darker to make it a line! BIGGGGG difference! gonk

I think she meant she uses the same process/tools, Meave... not that shading and drawing are the same thing.

For having the avatar edits hold things how would you go about doing that? The tutorial is great, but the arms confuse me.

Padfoot_Freak: Well, I make new arms the same way that I make new clothing items, so...I'm not really sure I can think of anything to say. ^^;

Adobe Photoshop isn't one of the free programs you can download. It costs nearly $700, last I checked. If you want to buy it, you can go to adobe.com and purchase it online. ^^
If you're looking for something free, try doing an internet search for GIMP. I don't know anything about it except that people have called it the free alternative to PhotoShop.

PSP (Paint Sho Pro) definately works for making pixel art and is under $100 and you can find older versions that are a bit cheaper. I used to play with cartoon dolls and some of those tutorials can be applied to edits smile Xandorras is one of the best sites : http://www.xandorra.net/tutorials.htm (tutorial archive, highlights .. resources for using GIMP, PSP and and MS paint) Veriria's ... because she's the one I learned from first *heh* : http://ver.rubberhouse.net/howto.shtml

*nar* I'm a horrible teacher. I'm having trouble coming up with anything other than, "you just...do it."
Is it the "where to place shadows" part that you want to know about, or the "what colors to choose" part, or...?
