The FACTS:
~Ursa must have found out about Ozai having to kill Zuko.
~She woke Zuko in the middle of the night/early morning to tell him good bye.
~ Azulon was dead the next morning, and Ursa is not seen in the royal line up at the funeral.
Ideas:
1.Taken at face value, one could say Ursa chose to take Zuko's place and was killed by Ozai, and Azulon just happen to die the same night. (Very ironic...)
Personally, I'm thinking closer to one or four, depending on how smart the creators think the fans are. If it was four... maybe Ozai killed Ursa, then was so upset he attacked Azulon? We don't have much information on the relationship between Ursa and Ozai, so there is no telling.
You, my dear woman, are sanity in an insane world... I personally think this is what happened, 'cept, Ursa took Zuko's place, when azula was like: 'You must learn the pain of losing a son,' and then the mother saying goodbye to Zuko, knowing she wouldn't see him again, later Zuko run to his father asking about his mom, the father says nothing, hinting towards, mournin? sadness? grief? or anger? soon after ursa's death, Ozai Attacks his father, possibly torturing him to the point where he must pass iroh over for ozai, after telling the priests/scholars his 'last dying wish' he dies. Why else would Azulon pass over his eldest son, not to mention, obviously more sane-son.
