Whew, where should I begin?
Birds: Crows, ravens, pigeons, seagulls, red-tailed hawks, sharp-shinned hawks, black vultures, turkey vultures, peregrine falcons, bald eagles, golden eagles, great horned owls, ospreys, northern harriers, robins, sparrows, starlings, catbirds, mockingbirds, bluebirds, indigo buntings, American Goldfinches, mourning birds, hummingbirds, trumpeter swans, mallards, Canadian geese, white geese, cormorants, kingfishers, great blue herons, egrets, cranes, cardinals, bluejays, chickadees, anis, parrots, parakeets, grackles, wild turkeys, and probably various more I couldnt identify.
Mammals: whitetailled deer, some other deer I couldnt identify, horses, foxes, mice, rats, shrews, voles, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, foxes, raccoons, opossums, groundhogs, once I saw a roadkill porcupine o.O, little brown bats, big brown bats heart .
Reptiles: Snapping turtles, box turtles, eastern painted turtles, copperhead snakes, garter snakes, garden snakes, black racer snakes, brown hognose snakes, water moccasin snakes (needless to say, i stayed far away o.O) skinks, and other lizards I couldn't identify
Amphibians: American toads, black salamanders, various frogs I'm incapable of identifying.
Fish/Aquatic life: Rockfish, bluegill, eels, mummichugs, salmon, trout, and more fish I don't know.
Whew. That's probably just a fraction of what I've seen. I see a heckuva lot more in a year's time than most people from Baltimore (where I'm from) see in their whole lives. It's really sad, actually. But fortunately, I grew up with a family that loves the outdoors and took me hiking all the time, and we eventually moved to the 'burbs. ^.^ I heart wildlife 4laugh .

I just got back from California, where I went on a whale watching tour. The first whale I saw was a humpback that came up to our boat and spent about 20 min checking us out. The rest of the whales were distant. Aside from whales, I saw many sea lions and a few jelly fish. That was such a cool experience (especially for a landlocked midwesterner)!

I worked for a summer at Patuxent Wildlife Research Refuge in the Youth Conservation Corps. One of the things we did was tear down beaver dams. We'd be there for a good 3-4 hours in the roasting heat, hot even in the shade, prying huge, heavy logs out of mud and untangling them from mile-a-minute weed (OUCH.), until we finally could jump back as the water came rushing out. We'd drive by the next morning, and the whole damn thing'd be right back up scream

I've seen bears, turkeys, pheasants, pigeons, seagulls, foxes, beavers, various woodpeckers, black-capped chickadees, white-breasted nuthatches, purple chimneysweeps, I used to know the names of all of these birds... Now I need to recall them from memory. Anywhoo, I've seen possums, weasels, groundhogs, deer, coyotes, robins, geese, and I've even seen a duck sitting in a tree. There are more, but those are the only ones I remember...
