He snapped his jaws once, just to hear the noise it made, before answering that look she gave him. And when he did, for once it wasn't in his usual round-about manner. "I like you," he said simply, head tilting to mirror hers.

Echo stayed still for a moment longer. He liked her? Okay... she could deal with that. Nodding slightly, though she might not have understood him correctly, she sank down to her belly next to the finished-off rabbit. Then she began to lick away the blood from her meal, seemingly clueless to all the world.

And with no real reply from her, he wasn't entirely sure what to do with himself after that admission. So he turned back to his veneer of strange behavior, springing up to chase imaginary things around the tree for a few moments. Then his chase led him a bit farther off into the trees, though he always circled back around near her.

Echo blinked, distracting herself from her cleaning to peer at him and his strange behavior. She didn't think it was so strange... just different. Like her. And her twin. And for once she smiled. Different was good. Much better than everyone else, she thought. Everyone else didn't understand the different, and so the different had to band together and be strong. Ophy would have to meet this one.

Eventually, he stopped again, flopping down beside her, but just far enough away not to touch. Unless she wanted to move closer, that is. His tongue hung out of his mouth as he panted, but his ears were up and one was turned toward her, as if listening to her unspoken thoughts.

Echo blinked at him, not exactly sure on what to think. He was strange, she liked him. She wanted him to meet her sister. But then.. what had he meant exactly by that 'confession' of sorts? Never had she thought someone could like her that way, and so it was practically out of the question and unreasonable in her mind.
Yet she couldn't help but wonder...
The female grinned and sat up, glancing momentarily at him. In the next instant she pushed her shoulder against his, then quickly tore away, looking off elsewhere as if it couldn't have possibly been her.
Obviously, she was feeling better.

He jumped slightly at that, and his head whipped around just in time to see her disappear off into the brush. Tail wagging just a bit, he jumped up to his feet, crouching there for a moment before springing after her.
He made no noise at first, but whenever he caught sight of her, he would howl and run faster ... only to slow down and let her pull away again, obviously playing.

Echo laughed inside, not having the capabilities to quite laugh out loud at this fun. But that didn't slow her down any. She grinned a little bit more as she ran around with him, blood rushing through her veins like never before. This was more like it! No more moping around for her.
And his howls only lifted her spirits every time she heard one of them. To him it might have been just playing, but to her it was sort of a reassurance. It told the female that he was still there, still with her. Her tail wagged furiously with excitement.
Eventually she slowed, her undernourished body not quite up to the challenge of so much exercise. So, coming to a stop, she looked around slightly, trying to find him.

Raz had stopped when she did, just far enough off into the trees that she couldn't see him right away. But moments later, he started creeping closer, stalking. He did his best not to let her hear him until he was very close ... and then he ran toward her at full-speed, howling again as he came upon her.
He skidded to a halt just in front of her, then with a sort of yipping noise, pounced on her as if they were pups. But there was something more in the way he went about it ... though it was hard to describe.

Echo's ears tilted slightly towards where she thought he was. She couldnt' see him, and her head tilted slightly to the side in silent question. So when he suddenly appeared and began running straight for her, she started, but didn't seem to be able to go anywhere, making it all the more easy for him to pounce her. And when he did, her tail began to wag again as she felt more like a worry-free puppy than the troubled adult she was becoming.
Trying to growl softly, she flailed slightly under him, going for his ears and neck in playful nips. The only thing that ran through her mind was the thought of how wonderful it was to be playing again, and not to have to worry about so much.

Raz let her squirm, but didn't let her up ... at least not unless she -really- did want to escape. Growling back, he twisted away from those nips, but only to return them in kind.
After a few minutes of this, he leaned back, grinning. "Just like pups ... no worries now, just playing and living, living and playing." He knew, of course, that they couldn't truly live like that ... but for this moment, it was all right.

Echo's tail wagged back and forth steadily, the female enjoying the games that they were playing. It was nice to forget one's worries for a while and just enjoy life.
"Like pups," she agreed, though it wasn't at all in scorn. She liked acting like a puppy again. Being silly was something she and her sister loved to do. And from the looks of it, so did this male. Why had mama growled at him and made him go away? So clueless, she was.
"No worries," she sighed, tail stilling as she rested on her side. No worries felt great.

He nodded, that grin still on his face. "Mmmhmm ... you like it," he supplied, nodding again. Then he sprang up and ran off into the trees. "Catch me now, I caught you!" he called back, laughing.

"Like it," she agreed, nodding her head slightly. Her tail wagged slowly against the ground as she blinked at him. Why couldn't her parents understand her like Ophelia and Raz? Things probably would have turned out so much more different and a lot better...
Yet when he suddenly leaped up onto his paws and raced off, she couldn't help but smile. Things were just too good right now for her to worry about anything.
Eagerly, the female rose to her paws. But she took her time and shook off all the dirt first. Only once she felt she was clean enough did she go after him, but only then it was at an easy lope. She figured he wouldn't run too far away from her...
