Ugu was coming back from class as he shifted through the brush of the forest. Eventually, through a couple more scratches, he made it to the hidden and very torn up clearing that he used as a training area.

He slowly walked toward the small pile of books that he had thrown beneath a tree earlier that week. The shinigami-in-training sighed as he sat down beside the 'unread pile'. His massive right hand reached over and grabbed a book named 'Upon A Shinigami: Indepth Philosophical View Of A Shinigami's Duties To Soul Society'. Ugu slid open the first page and began reading the yellow-aged tome.

The man continued to read the yellow text. He was half way through it, too, when a small trickle of rain fell from the sky. Ugu sighed, seeing that the other books that he had brought with him--which were thrown to the side of the tree--would be soaked by the oncoming rain.

So he stood up, brushed himself off, and began to move the books with his mighty oak-like arms. Slowly, ever so slowly, he moved the pile of delicate fountains of knowledge.

Rain continued to drip down upon the small mud heavy clearing as the shinigami sat down beneath the heavily scratched oak. His left hand, slightly trembling from using his Reiatsu in his class today, reached for a book. 'Indepth View Of Modern Politics' was the book that the shinigami-in-training fumbled upon.

He brought it to his lap--where he then began to read it.

He continued to read on. Sleep did tempt him, but he dissolved that idea from his mind. He wasn't learned enough, he wasn't a scholar. He wasn't able to keep a good conversation with his superiors about life, death, being a shinigami..

So he continued to read on, and eventually finished his book. The shinigami-in-training then tossed it to the 'finished' pile. He then began to read another text, one aptly named "Sun Tsu, The Art Of War".

When the book became trivial, and often repeated, the shinigami tossed the leather covered text to the read pile. His hands then moved to the pile beside him, causing his lumbering behemoth sized body to twist from his waist up.

Ugu's sausage like fingers wrapped around a black book with a blood splattered cover. He opened it, and began reading it. It was a science journal of a long dead scientist who went by the name of Friar Bacon. Instantly, and against his will, the scholar began to read into the scrawled book.

Then, after several hours of reading, he tossed the book to the 'read' pile. The large man stood up, showing off his tall 7 foot-something frame to the wild life in the region. His eyes looked out, though, to only see that the wild life was a couple of owls, and a lone mouse--hiding from the many owls above it.

He stepped out of the 'shade' of his tree and into the moonlight of the night. His eyes went around the clearing, seeing the destruction that lew on and in every inch of it. Then he sighed, unsheathing his soul slayer. In order to become stronger he would have to wound his sorroundings more heavily.

Ugu squared his stance, focusing on the moonlighted radiance of the field in front of himself. He focused his slicing down action, moving his wrist--therefore his sword--with expert precision. The shinigami then brought up his sword again, to roughly his chest, and chopped down once more.

The shinigami-in-training continued cutting, moving and slicing forward as diddled away at the moon lit night.

After an hour of brutal and frontal excercise Ugu sat down in the dirt created by his massive feet. He sat, and stared at the heavens above, too tired to think about anything other than sleep. Then he glimpsed at a shadow in the distance, a thing that was on the edge of his vision, and was prowling beneath the lengths of trees.

It then scampered off into nothingness, and Ugu's conciousness followed it. A small tremor flew from the man's falling body, shaking the dust from where he was just sitting.

Morning came, at the usual time. The stiff shinigami pushed himself off the ground and walked toward the tree that held his book beneath its sprawling branches. He walked forward, still, and eventually reached the small oak tree that blocked the few stars that still remained in the sky.

Ugu bent down and grabbed a book, cracking it open with his two massive hands. He quickly fixed himself into a crosslegged position and began reading the thickly bound text.

After several taxing minutes the man threw the book to the side. He stood up, and grabbed hold of his soul slayer. Ugu stared down at it, and at its green hilted simplicity. He quickly sighed and began to walk away from the tree he had slept under.

The shinigami-in-training walked toward the exit of the clearing. He slowly walked toward the graduation ceremony.

Ugu returned from the graduation with his new robes on. He stood in the middle of the field, where he had trained for the past years at the academy. His right fist tightened, then, as his memories flooded back to him. Pain. Strength. Inner approval. Self acceptance.. All here. All now. Tomorrow he would have the chance to gain the rank he rightfully deserved.

His lime eyes went up the length of the tree he had read under a thousand times. Then, without warning, he smashed his right fist into the thick oak. His fist went through the bark, sliding into the heartwood of the tree. "Tomorrow will be the day I will receive the fruit of my labours." He withdrew his fist and aptly smashed in back into the tree, making the hole deeper. A crackle of bark fell from the tree, tripping down from its bretheren to Ugu's feet.

"I'll prove I can reached my Mt. Munazashi." (OOC Note: Mt. Munazashi <- read my character's biography)

Ugu Zenmaru continued to stare at the broken pieces bark infront of him. His lime eyes lew with a never forgetting glare. "My Munazashi.." He withdrew his fist, letting it quickly fall to his side. Strength, and speed, would mean nothing tomorrow. Aggression, defense, love.. None of it would matter tomorrow. Pillars of feeling would mean nothing in the battle tomorrow.

It'd be focus. He sat down, then, and closed his eyes. The shinigami closed his legs together, crosslegged. Beneath the tree he began to focus his spirit energy into his hands. Focus.

He continued to sit there, focusing. Mind cleared, as usual, his thoughts remained focused on the singular object he wanted to reach. He wished to reach his Mt. Munazashi... With that 'place' in his mind, he remained stalwart, awaiting for tomorrow to come.

Morning came. He stood up from his position and brushed off the leaves on his clothing. The man then began to walk away from the tree he had slept under that night, moving toward the grand towers of soul society.
