Ayumi felt something wrap across the top of her head and the words of her friends slowed her crying to a near stop. Peering up over her knees, she saw a soft, satin lined ear flop down over her face. A small giggle that she couldn't hold back escaped her at the soft feeling against her head, and the smiles she now faced assured her that things were fine.
Wiping her face with the back of her hand, she offered the pair a smile and bowed her head as she blushed deeply. "Gomennassai Sempai,.....Nyas-sama,.....arigatoo....." As Nyas made the comment about green and gold suiting her, thoughts of her mother began to come to mind. "Okaasan always said the same thing, so I had alot of green skirts and dresses before I came here."

Miko giggled at Nyas' comment, twisting to and fro as she continued to bounce on the toes of her feet. She seemed a bit bouncier than usual, but that could be easily attributed to the fact that she was shoeless at the moment.
"Bad influence? Me? Iie, perish the thought, Nyas-sama. I just thought she would like it ne? I had bought it for me, you know, as a change of pace. But I just couldn't handle it. It wasn't me. I felt like I was walking around naked or something. It's like, you know how you go and get your hair cut, and while your there you're so so so happy, all 'saggoi! I look great, I can't believe i didn't try this sooner' and then, by the time you get home, you're a blubbering mess in your pillow cuz it's gone and it will take forvr to grow back and you look stupid. It was like that." The whole thing came out in a high-speed torrent, and Miko didn't stumble over a single word. She knelt down beside Ayumi again and wrapped her arms around the other's neck.
"Your mom? oi, you hardly ever talk about your mome, Kohai-chan. Is she scary? Mean. All ugly like the witch in the wizard of oz?"

Ayumi giggled as Miko snagged her by the neck and asked about her mom, even calling her the wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz. "You're silly Sempai,.....my mom's not that mean. She says she's strict because she loves me and wants to keep me safe." She bit her lower lip as she began talking about her mother, recalling the happier times when she was younger.
"We used to go shopping all the time, and she'd buy me ice cream with sprinkles on top. We would play board games and have tea parties, but now...." The little girls voice trailed off as she thought of being away from her mother and locked away here. "....I just.....I just miss her....." The smile that her friends had given her faded into a pout as tears began building up within her eyes once again.
"Mom said.....sh-she was too busy t-to.....to keep an eye on me.....s-so she sent m-me here....." She couldn't stop herself from crying, the pain hurt inside so bad she thought she would die. Why would anyone want to get rid of their child baffled Ayumi to no end. How could the only person in your life want you away from them when you needed them the most?
"Okaasan......gomennassai....." She buried her face into Miko's shoulder, seeking comfort in her friends arms. If she could hide away there for however long she was stuck in Midori, she wouldn't argue one bit. Her hands tightened into little fists, clenching the fabric of the older girl's pajamas for dear life.

Nyas's brow drew together in confusion for a moment before frowning in concern. She reached out as Ayumi clung to Miko, rubbing her back soothingly.
"Ne, Ayumi....Daijoubu yo." she said, looking at Miko. Well, this was a situation she wasn't quite sure how to cope with. She would have said it couldn't be as bad as all that, but to a girl as young as Ayumi, it was probably pretty damn bad. And it wasn't as though she could say maybe there was a misunderstanding. Misunderstandings didn't get you stuck in a place like this. The tall girl felt the stirrings of anger in her chest towards whatever b***h had landed such a sweet girl in this hellhole.
"Ayumi, come on, let's get some breakfast, ne?" she said gently. "Maybe some food will make you feel better."

"hai hai," Miko agreed readily. "Breakfast is a great idea. I'm starved. Aren't you starved, Kohai-chan. Cheer up, it'll all be ok.... My mom sent me here too, ne? So see, we have lot in common. Come on, lets get dressed and go to the caf. Or, we could start a trend and go in our pajamas... they are Midori-approved." Miko finished her statement with her best Headmistress Hitsaguya impersonation.

Ayumi's crying slowed to a dull sniffle as Nyas and Miko both comforted her. She really was lucky to have found such dear people in her time of desperation, and thanked them both for being so nice to someone younger than them. "Gomennassai,....it's just hard to....well....." She feared even finishing the statement, trying to keep her emotions in check as best an 11 year old could.
Slowly releasing Miko from the death grip she held her with, Ayumi wiped her eyes with the sleeve of her pajamas and rose to her feet. But when her friend did her impersonation of the headmistress, the small girls head perked up at the sound filling the room. "Okaasan....." Her voice was barely a whisper under the laughter of the other girls, but it was uncanny how much she sounded like the woman.
"Hai,....we can go in pajamas, I don't mind." She forced smile onto her face although her head hung sadly. Hopefully breakfast would put her in better spirits for the day, otherwise she might as well just hide from everyone and cry her despair into her pillow.

Nyas chuckled as she got to her feet, giving Ayumi a pat on the shoulder that was almost more of a clout and nearly knocked the girl off her feet.
"Oi oi oi, pajamas and boots? That'll be a sight." she said, picking up her footwear by the laces. She pulled out the socks she had stuffed inside them the night before, seeing as she didn't feel like going back to her room for clean ones, and the rumpled green bandanna that was next to them. Were it not for the curve of her bosom, the girl looked more like a boy than some boys did themselves, with the baggy green gym shorts and white tank top, emblazoned, of course, with the Midori logo.
"So, donuts anyone?" she called out, grinning at Miko.
