Akhilles If We Didnt follow our hearts, none of us would be Jewish. With all the Christian Missionaries out there telling us to convert. If any book tell you not to Listen to your Heart but Beleive in this, then its completly contradicting itself. You Beleive with your Heart, mind and Soul. And I beleive hat Racism shouldnt be seen among Jewish people. Take a step foward instead of taking 2 steps back. Matisyahus doing it (man i love that guy) Main thing is, you need to differentiate between the lusts of the heart, and the values of the heart. Some people in society today can't even tell the difference between them so they follow their lusts and desires, calling it "following their heart". They aren't following anything, they are being lead. They are being lead like sheep to the slaughter... sadly enough. So, we need to be careful about HOW we follow our hearts. True, we need to beleive and stay true to our hearts, but we cannot follow it blindly. And back to racism, we cannot follow our heart beleiving who is "good" and who is not. Man's lust is to feel superiour, to be higher. He usually does this by taking others down. This lust of the heart should NOT be followed, lest you be lead by your heart.

YvetteEmilieDupont ZonkotheSane i like to think that my race is better than the local black community... so yeah. that makes me racist. an dyou know the arc of the conventent thingie is believed to be in africa with a community of black people.. rolleyes so yoni you make me laugh I heard that, I dont believe it though. I know it went to that island in a lake in africa, but I believe from there its lost... but anyway, Ive noticed that lots of blacks dont like jews cause we have "secret police" ninja rofl

Yes, I have to support Nathan on this one. If man (or woman for that matter) did not have the lust for superiority, this competitive instinct whic drives us to exceed, the Olympics would not exist, Judegements would not be made aout other people, and most wars would never have happened.

There is a difference between being led by your heart, and following your heart. The kriyat shma meant " don't be lead". You shouldn't have your life planned because of your bodily desires. Some desires are bad for us. For example, some people would like nothing better than to go fufill their sexual emotions. Isn't it disgusting? If we would be led by our heart entirely it's bad. But following your heart, the goals and values in life, THAT is fine, and even encouraged. I hope it is more understood now? sweatdrop it's not just bodily desires-also impulses. the point is, one's mind should have precedance over one's heart. what you feel is right is not neccassarily so, but what you know is right is concluded via logic and reasoning, which, if used correctly, are never wrong. sadly, most poeple don't use them right, but that's something else. btw nathan, i was referring to the gemara (brachos, perek bais, daf tes vav, amud beis, i believe) that discusses kria shema, and particularly that segment.

So yeah, white people can be niggers. Your explanation is dead on though. A ****** is an ignorant person who doesn't do anything to improve his condition in life, and is content with being ignorant.
