NPCs: The Quadruplettes
*Note: These are the NPCs I've come up with to run the meeting-place inns and taverns throughout the world. Best of all, they keep in contact with each other, so people can find out when others are headed their way.
Name: Tina Wong
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Karmic Alignment:
Rank: [Civilian]
Tribe/Nation: Born in the Earth Kingdom. Tina runs the Windy Perch, an inn/tavern at the base of the Western Air Temple.
General Description:
Eye Colour~ The light green that is generally associated with either wind-blown grass or reptiles.
Hair Colour~ Goldenrod, waist-length. She usually wears it loose.
Skin Colour~ Around average, though paler than any of her sisters.
Clothing~ Tina, when she arrived in the Air Nation, bought most of her clothes from a kindly monk at the Western Air Temple. Because of this, she dresses like most of them—a yellow and orange kimono top, tan leggings, and a yellow overskirt with slits up the sides. If it gets cold enough, she will even occasionally wear the traditional orange demi-cloak. However, even if she dresses that way, she should never be taken for a monk.
Personality: The eldest of the Quadruplettes, Tina is the polar opposite of Flamboyant Fina. Quiet and reserved, she gives good advice (if she gives any at all) and mostly lets travelers live as they wish when passing through. She's very tolerant of all people and, if you can get her talking, quite knowledgeable about the world at large.
Name: Gina Wong
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Karmic Alignment:
Rank: [Civilian]
Tribe/Nation: Earth Kingdom. Gina runs an inn/tavern called the Stone Table in the countryside halfway between Omashu and Ba Sing Se.
General Description:
Eye Colour~ Forest green
Hair Colour~ Honey colored, waist-length. She pulls it back in a simple topknot bun.
Skin Colour~ About average for Earth Kingdom women. This is slightly tanner than most others.
Clothing~ A dark green dress that matches her eyes with the nation's symbol on the front (a circle with a square taken out of it). It falls to her knees and has a small split up the side to help her move about. The dress in short-sleeved, so she occasionally wears a kimono jacket over it to keep warm.
Personality: The Quadruplette most attached to her roots, Gina is dry and terribly practical. Nevertheless, her wry wit and excellent ale has drawn a steady flow of regular customers to her way station. She took over her parent's inn, the Stone Table, when the sisters parted ways, mainly to stay near her fiancé, Kero Baolan.
Name: Lina Wong
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Karmic Alignment:
Rank: [Civilian]
Tribe/Nation: Born in the Earth Kingdom. Lina runs the Misty Spring, an inn/tavern located at the North Pole.
General Description:
Eye Colour~ Sea Green
Hair Colour~ The color of sun-ripened wheat, waist-length. She wears it back in a single braid.
Skin Colour~ Just around average, with a freckle or two. But she looks deathly pale compared to the inhabitants of the North pole.
Clothing~ Her clothing is mainly comprised of layers, sporting a white undershirt, a long-sleeved tight-fitting shirt, an additional vest, and then her parka. She has leggings on under her fur-lined skirt. All are in traditional shades of blue and white, and she keeps all but the parka on at all times, even when she sleeps. The icy climate is not her cup of tea, even if the business is.
Personality: Lina is altogether the most good-natured of the Quadruplettes, but she can occasionally be scatterbrained (As in running around shouting "Where did my pen go? Where is it?! Oh, no, I've lost it!!" when it's in her hand—any assistant of hers has a full-time job). Despite this, she is sweet and charming, making her a popular hostess for travelers to the North Pole.
Name: Fina Wong
Age: 24
Gender: Female, most definitely female
Karmic Alignment:
Rank: [Civilian]
Tribe/Nation: Born in the Earth Kingdom. Fina owns the Barbeque Pit, a restaurant in the Fire Nation Capitol.
General Description:
Eye Colour~ Olive green
Hair Colour~ Dirty blonde, waist-length. Fina most often wears it in a single ponytail on top of her head.
Skin Colour~ Slightly tan, but close to average. Even so, she sticks out like a sore thumb among her pale-skinned customers.
Clothing~ Fina wears a low-cut scarlet blouse with long sleeves, an over tunic that is more reminiscent of water-tribe clothing than anything, but decorated with a Fire Nation insignia, and a pair of loose pants as one might wear with a Gi. Although still predominately red, Fina's ensemble has more gold trim and embroidery than is usually found in the middle-class of the Fire Nation.
Personality: The youngest of the Quadruplettes, Fina has a much more assertive disposition than the rest of her sisters. Being more ambitious by nature, she abandoned the "inn" angle entirely and started up a restaurant that hires firebenders as chefs. Not only do these employees use their bending to cook the food, they do so in public to entertain the customers. It has been wildly successful (partly due to the spectacle and partly due to the flirtatious hostess) and her few employees are enjoying themselves while gaining skill and recognition for their bending.
History (all): The Wong family was well known in the small area they lived in. They became a public curiosity when Akira Wong gave birth to quadruplets and the but of many jokes due to their choice in names.
Why Akira Wong named her children as she did is the subject of much gossip. Some thought it might have been a practical way of naming all four on the spot; others decided that Akira had been too tired after having four children to be very creative; and a very few believe that it is part of a conspiracy and that they will be raised to join a sect of people secretly controlling the world.
Most people disregard that last theory.
In any case, when Tina, Lina, Gina and Fina were small children they were called the "Inas" as a collective, since all of them would respond to the suffix. When they grew older and began to act quite differently, the name was revised to be the “Quadruplettes”.
Eventually it came time for the inheritance to be divided up and agreed upon before Akira and her husband Juro had passed on. It became apparent that every single girl wanted to inherit "The Stone Table" and turn it into their own place. The parents fretted about how to solve the dilemma for so long that the girls finally had to come to an agreement on their own.
They made a plan. Each girl would make their own inn, but to avoid competition with each other, they each traveled to a different continent. The original inn would be given to Gina, who wanted to settle down with her sweetheart Kero. And the rest of the inheritance was split among the three other girls to go off and seek their fortunes in the wide world.
After all was arranged, the sisters said goodbye for the last time and went their separate ways. However, they keep up a running correspondence, referring their customers to each other and passing along the latest gossip. The four of them, in fact, are singularly for some of the most prevalent rumors in the world.
