Silva's eyes narrowed and he fingered his toothpick, eyeing du Pont for a long moment. He believed Dee when she said there was blackmail going on... (Although he of all people knew she was crazier than hell. She was also basically honest. And too pissed to be lying.)
But it wasn't from this guy. Slowly he turned and looked at his little girl's big sister and said coldly. "You're going to spend a little quality time with me now, Darlin." The tinest of smirks pulled at his lips, not reaching his eyes as he turned back to the group.
"Sure. I'll do that. And Dee here will get back to you. Won't you, Dee."

"I'll join the investigation," said Burgundia coolly. "I'm very much interested in the work; I said so, and I meant it. Cousin Silva is just overprotective. My, he's such a gentleman." (Also, she had to think of what was the best way to possibly murder Dr. M, since fire from the sky wasn't readily available.) "I'd like to continue, sir. Though if maybe I could accompany Silva and rest my own self a little? I have an errand that needs doin'. I won't interfere with the witness."

"Certainly," Geiseric said, inclining his head agreeably despite his reservations.
"I'll go with you."
Burgundia looked at Autry with a deep, dull look, the one that had gone past shock and was pretty much on its way to murderous apathy. It was a look that stated that if Autry was her size, her hands would be around his neck quicker than white on rice.
The Security officer smirked at her like the a*****e he was. "I need to run by Lord Piett's house, and that is where you live, right?" he asked. "You can show me how to get there." Autry crossed his arms and leaned back smugly.

"I suggest y'all first get clearance from Rose," said Burgundia, whose mouth had pursed to the point where it looked as if she'd sucked on a lemon. "Sergeant."

Silva twitched. "And you'll let her talk for a moment." He said, reaching for Dee's arm to drag her out of sight. Yeah, he didn't like these bastards one bit.

Du Pont started to object, but Autry just waved a hand at him and winked. "Partner," Autry said, still smirking, and brought his hand up to his ear. He kept his gaze on Silva and Burgundia as they retreated. Du Pont and Gunn waited patiently, du Pont straining his ears in a vain attempt to make out Silva and Burgundia's conversation.

"These Fleet ******** are all the same," Burgundia was hissing to Silva, teeth clenched tightly. "God! God almighty! I hope they die; they can damn well go to whatever hell they wanna, for all I care!"

"That's nice and well, darlin, and I'm sure they will, but what the ******** is this blackmail talk? Who's doing it? Is it these ******** or someone else?" Silva demanded coldly and softly.

"M," Burgundia spat back, voice equally soft, though it shook a little; she'd never looked so pent-up in the entire time that Silva had seen her alive. "Get Nick or Nack to look after Ruby; sure as hell don't I trust her alone right now. God only knows what to do with Marne; I don't suppose she's safe at the Director's, but Rose will surely ask questions - Galatea will be fine, she's got a head on her shoulders. M threatened all their goddamned lives over this investigation."

"That whimpy b*****d?" Silva asked, slightly surprised. Then he shook his head. "Hell, I knew he was a psychopath when I first met him. Fine. Soho's probably with Ice right now, but I'll get the boys on it, while I'm at it."
He cursed, running a hand over his head. "Get going. If we cooperate we might find out what the hell is going on around here." He said. "But I need some sleep, dammit. I won't be good for anything right now."

"I'll go over to the Director's with Autry and tell you 'bout it later. If you find Marne at your place, don't send her home, you hear me? They'll probably be there. We'll talk again when you've gotten some sleep for your own self. They're probably gonna ask you more questions later."
Dee gave him a quick, hard nod, then moved away. "I'll owe you, Silva. Godspeed."

"Don't die on me, Dee. Soho would never forgive me." He replied before he flew away.

When she came back to Silva, Burgundia looked quite composed; however, it was obviously the same tactic as cleaning your room by sweeping everything under your bed or the rug. "Shall we, Sergeant?"

"Call me Ed," smiled Autry facetiously, but the only thing Dee wanted to call him was "slime" or maybe "jackass." Autry looked over his shoulder at Gunn and du Pont, Gunn avoiding eye contact as usual, and said, "I have to do something for Admiral Durris, I'll call you guys when I'm done."
"But--" began Geiseric.
Autry was already walking off. "Shall we?" he said to Dee, gesturing for her to lead the way.

"Of course, sergeant," said Dee, who would call Autry 'Ed' if perhaps the Apocalypse happened then and there and they were all sucked up by the Rapture and the human God threw them a party. "Let's be on our way."
Hopefully that 'way' would include a holy bazooka, but Burgundia doubted it.
