Dear Diary

I'm so happy that the children gave me a 'Get Well' card! It's a really big card, with everyone's handprints on it. I even saw Saniiro's handprint on the cover! I guess that the kids must had begged him to do it... He was so tired and worn out by night-fall, and went to bed earlier than usual yesterday night.

Today, I'm taking over all the chorses in the house, except for all the cooking. It seems that the stove is still out-of-bounds for me, even the mircowave and toaster. I'm not that bad with cooking, after all, am I? Saniiro refuses to let me try, so I'll probably never know... He told me 'better safe then sorry'.

Anyway, I received an invitation to a Halloween party for Saga. I was wondering what to dress him up as, but his fondness for sweets and other sugary stuff gave me an idea. I'm dressing him up as L, from Death Note. He likes L too, I think.

I'll need to style his hair, although I don't think that it'll stick that well. The clothing will be simple, a pair of jeans and a white sleeved shirt. Some make-up on his face, and we'll have our very own little L! To boot, he'll have lots of candy from trick-or-treating, so I'm sure he'll grow to love Halloween.

I'm... Who?

Saga sat in front of the mirror, looking curiously at his own reflection. His hair had been combed and jelled by his mother, although his bangs had refused to obey. It was still covering one of his eyes, and had stubbornly stayed there.

"L?"

"Yes, L! Too bad your hair refuses to be in the correct possition though," Dragain mused out loud, sitting down beside her son with a soft smile on her face, "Do you remember that show we'd watched? Death Note? You're the detective, L! Didn't you say that you like him?"

"L... He likes sweets!"

"Yes, just like you!" Dragain laughed, taking out a camera from the drawer. She pointed it at Saga, and nodded. "Let's take a picture before we head off to the party, okay? Say... Uh, 'Sweets'!"

"Sweets!" Saga almost cheered as he went into L's sitting stance.

Saga yawned, crawling out of bed. He landed on the floor with a soft thud and started crawling towards the half-opened door. He had slept in this morning, but why is it that nobody had bothered to wake him up? After all, the sun was already shining in from the outside.

"Ah, you're awake," Dragain laughed as Saga appeared at the top of the stairs. He grabbed one of the bars and started on his first step down from the top. One by one, he grabbed the side bars, that made up the stairs' handle, for support before taking a step.

When he had finally reached the floor, he was scooped up by Dragain and brought to the dinning room. It was then he realised that the room was empty. Normally, everyone would be in the dining room, still eating breaking. Nobody in the family, except for Saniiro, actually looks good in the morning.

"Sorry for not waking you up, and making you walk down the stairs yourself." Dragain laughed nervously, "It seems to me that everyone is away today. Saniiro had some important work to do at the hospital, and the children went off to a birthday party somewhere. They wanted to take you along, but I was afraid that you would be difficult to take care of as there'll be no adults around. Anyway, you were sleeping so peacefully!"

Saga tilted his head to a side, not really understanding all of his mother's words. He understood the part about his father at work which is the 'hospital', and something about his siblings at a party? He looked puzzled for a moment before he smiled at what his mother said next.

"We're now alone at home!"

Oh... Now he understand what Dragain was saying! The child nodded before reaching for the table, hoping for some breakfast... Cereal will be good. A day alone with mother would be fun...

It's a nice day ahead!

"Once upon a time, there lived a happy man who was contented with who he is..."

Saga smiled as Ingina read to him, his closed remained closed as his sister continued in her soft voice, "He had always thought that he was the luckiest man in the world. He had a small but comfortable hut to live in, a beautiful and kind wife, and two children..."

Ingina stopped her reading, and Saga could hear her standing up and walking away, "Alice, please stay here while I retrieve something from the house... I don't think it'll take too long, so please don't wonder off!" He could hear Ingina walking away, her footsteps becoming softer and softer until they disappeared.

'Wait... Did she just call me Alice?'

Saga opened his closed eyes, blinking at the sheer brightness as he held up a hand to shield his eyes from the sun's glare. Standing up, the book that Ingina had left on his lap dropped to the ground with a 'thud'. Still shielding his eyes, he looked down... And saw himself...

"A dress?!"

Saga touched the soft fabric, frowning as he walked around. Wait... He could walk properly now, and talk better as well. He looked down at his hands, and realised that they look more grown up somehow... He's taller and... In a girl's body!

"Wah! I'm a girl!" Saga exclaimed, and touched his throat before letting out another exclamation, "I even sound like a girl! What... What is happening?"

Just as he was about to run after his sister, a movement caught his eye. Turning around, he saw a most particular sight. There, in a clearing behind the tree he was under, stood a white rabbit on its two hind legs. A small pair of round framed spectacles clung to its nose bridge, and it wore a tight fitting white coat with a black bow.

"Oh! I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date!" The white rabbit exclaimed in a worried voice as it glanced at a pocket watch lying on his paws. Pocketing the watch, he glanced around nervously before jumping into a hole at the foot of a huge tree.

"What... Was that?" Saga mused to himself, sweeping back a lock of hair that had fell over his eyes. Everything looked much clearer without half of your bangs dropping over an eye. "A... Rabbit? It was talking and walking on two legs. This must be a dream... Yes, just a dream..."

Saga walked over to the hole, peeking into its darkness. Holding up a small piece of stone he had found on the ground, he tossed it into the hole and waited for the 'thud' sound. Frowning, he bent down and placed his ears closer to the hole, wondering why the 'thud' sound was taking so long.

"I wonder why! Argh!" Saga yelled, slipping on a piece of wet leaf when he was standing up. He fell, head first, into the hole. For some reason, his whole body fitted right through that rabbit's hole. For a moment, he fell through what seemed like to be air that was so much like water. It was like falling through a place where gravity seems to be weak, and where the fall seems to be never-ending...

... Or not.

Saga landed gently on a marble floor, pushing down on his dress as he blushed lightly. Wearing a dress was so troublesome! Give him a shirt and some sort of long pants anytime! Looking around, he realised that he was in a room with a very high ceiling. It was a decently sized room, but was largely empty except for a brown table in the center. Upon closer inspection, he found a jar of milk with a label, 'Drink me!' and a piece of chocolate cookie with a label, 'Eat me!'

"Oh! I'm so very late!"

A familiar voice made Saga turn in that direction, but all he saw was the back-view of the rabbit he had saw before running into a door way. After he was through, the door closed to reveal the face of a man on the door. Saga walked over to the door, and soon discovered that the door was too small for him to go through. Besides, no matter how hard he tried to open it, the door refused to move.

Instead, the door said, "Find the key! Find the key!"

"Find the key?" Saga echoed, blinking as he lifted up the carpet on the floor in front of the talking door. After all, that was a typical place to hide a key. He saw it on television about a million and one times. He smiled a little to himself as he found a golden key hidden under the carpet.

Placing it into the lock, he turned the key and sighed happily as he heard a click. The door swung open by itself, and Saga was free o pass. However, he was still too big to pass through the door way.

"Eat and drink! Eat and drink!" The door hinted again in its sing-song voice.

Saga frowned and went to the table, taking the appetizing looking cookie. Nibbling on it, he found himself growing bigger in size until his head could reach the ceiling. Quickly, he grabbed the jar of milk and drank from it. Almost immediately, he shrank to a very small size, and landed painfully on the table top.

"I think... I just broke my bottom..." Saga whined, standing up and walking across the table top. He grabbed whatever piece of the now gigantic looking cookie he could bring along, and slid down the table using one of the table's four legs.

After he successfully walked to the door and entered, he stepped out in bright sunlight. When he turned around, the door was gone. He was simply surrounded by tall trees. Pausing for a second, he started walking straight through the trees.

"Why, hello there!" A high pitched voice greeted, and Saga found himself spinning to look behind him. There, towering over him, stood three huge flowers. The first was yellow in color, the second was orange, and the last one was red. All of the flowers bent down to look at him, and Saga jumped backwards in surprise.

"My, my! What a small thing you are!"

"Yes, I have to agree, dear sister!"

"I do wonder what it is!"

Turning to Saga, the red flower asked, "What are you? I've never seen you around this part of the garden before!"

"I'm Sa... I'm Alice." Saga replied with a slight blush, looking sideways while scratching his cheek thoughtfully. Flowers that can talk... That certainly was weird. "Nice to meet you..."

"Oh! Oh! She's an Alice!"

"An Alice? I've never heard of that one before!"

"We had better tell the Queen, in case she gets mad!"

"Yes, yes! I agree!"

Saga did not stay to hear the rest of the conversation, and decided to wander away from the three flowers. He was getting bored from standing there anyway. The flowers reminded him of some of the aunties he had seen in the market, always talking among themselves.

He walked and walked, stopping to rest under... A giant mushroom. It made good shelter as it had a huge cap. Sitting own, he grumbled as his dress made it difficult for him to actually cross his legs, or actually sit down on the ground for that matter.

"Hello, little girl..." A voice called out from above him. Looking up, Saga saw the strangest thing that he had ever seen. A purple cat sat on the branch of a tree, its tail swinging from side to side as its golden eyes looked at him. A grin was plastered onto its face as it continued, "My, my... Do you want to go back home?"

"Of course I do!" Saga replied, getting up on his feet as quickly as he could. Dusting his dress, he asked, "Do you know a way?"

The cat's grin got wider, "Go see the Queen, of course!"

After saying that, he disappeared, body first. His stripes disappeared next, followed by his eyes and nose, before his grin vanished as well. His voice echoed in the air, "Good, luck, little girl... Hehe..." A yellow wooden door appeared on the tree trunk of the tree the cat was siting on, and it opened swiftly, without a sound.

Dear Diary,

This morning, after Saga woke up from slumber, he asked me to read him a story. Guess what? I didn't know that he was a fan of Alice in Wonderland! The last time I offered to read it to him, the boy wasn't interested at all. In fact, he said he prefers something with more excitement.

Isn't it weird? He didn't tell me the reason, just that he wanted to know the story. I told him I would read it to him when I find that book... I think it's in the study somewhere, but I just can't find it. Must had displaced it the last time I read it.

Maybe it's somewhere else...

Saga peeked through the door, his eyes scanning the surroundings. Spotting several drips of what seem like red drops of paint, he walked through the door and followed the paint drips. Behind him, the yellow door closed without a sound, and dissolved into thin air.

The drips led him into a beautiful rose garden. Several white rose bushes grew on both sides of a pavement running through the garden, and there were beautiful seashells lined on the sides of the path. However, some of the bushes have red roses on them... With red paint dripping down from some of them!

Curiously, Saga walked over to one of the 'red' roses, and reached out a slender finger to touch it.

"Halt!" A voice yelled from behind, making Saga jump in fright. Spinning around, the boy caught slight of two playing cards with paint buckets in one hand, and a paintbrush partially dipped with the red paint in the other hand. "Do not touch that rose!"

Saga frowned, "I... Uh... Am sorry... But why?"

"It's all his fault!" Each playing card man pointed to each other. "He planted white roses when the Queen wanted red roses! If she sees this, it'll be off with our heads! Oh, we're so doomed!"

"It's just some roses..."

"Just some roses! It's not 'just some roses'! It's roses for the Queen herself!"

"I still don't under-"

"Announcing the arrival of her majesty, the Queen, and his majesty, the King, to the Rose Garden!"

The two playing cards gasped, and hid the paint and paintbrushes. Then, the knelled down on the ground, and bowed over with their heads facing the ground. One of them turned to Saga and hissed, "Kneel down! Quickly!"

Saga nodded, and dropped to the ground in a deep bow. Whoever this Queen was, she sounds like a scary woman...

"So, you fools did something right for once. The roses are the right color..." A woman's voice cut into Saga's thoughts, and he found himself peeking at the Queen through the corner of an eye. The Queen was a fat woman, clothed in a dress which is black and red in color. Her black hair was tied up into a tight bun, and a shiny golden crown was perched on her head.

"Yes, your majesty!"

"Hm... Wait! What is this?" There was a pause, before the Queen let out a scream. In an angry tone, the Queen shouted, "This is red paint! How dare you two defy my orders! Right! It's off with both your heads now! Guards!"

Four more playing cards came, and dragged the two away. Their pleas fell on deaf ears as the Queen ignored them. It was a moment later before she finally turned to look at Saga, her face frowning even more at the sight. Narrowing her eyes, she questioned rudely, "Who are you?"

"I'm Alice..."

"Hm... It's off with your head!"

Saga looked up, alarmed, before bowing his head again, "But... But... Your majesty! I did nothing wrong!"

"How dare you talk back to me! Off with your head! Off with your head, I say!"

Saga was dragged to a platform, and he saw a huge blade above his neck. He shut his eyes just as the blade came down, and the last thing he remembered was the cold surface of the blade on his neck. Then, there was darkness...

The story of Alice in Wonderland wasn't supposed to end this way... There was something wrong with Saga's version. There was something wrong... Alice wasn't supposed to die.

'You said you wanted excitement in your life,' A voice echoed in the darkness, making Saga shiver. His eyes were unable to open, and he found himself feeling his neck to see if it was still there. 'I hope this does it... It's a gift to you... Your ability.'

Saga's Growing Up

He woke up in a cold sweat, but after spacing out on his bed, Saga realised that he was seeing the world in a different angle now. Number one, he was seeing the top of things rather than the side of them. Number two, he felt stronger. Number three, he felt an urge to speak in somewhat full sentences.

"I'm... Up."

'Good, now, you can stand up as well.'

"Who are you!"

'A voice in your head. I'll teach you... How to make use of the gift given to you in your previous dream. That was just a mere demonstration of it's talents. The talents of this gift.'

"Wasn't it just a dream? It was all made up, right? I... I..."

'Well, it's just a thin line between what's real and what's not. This gift will allow you to give others a dream, or a nightmare... They don't even need to be sleeping. All you need is a little concentration, and a split second of eye contact with the other person. As long as you catch his or her eyes, you can will for the dream to happen... Of course, there are limitations.'

"Dreams... I can make them dream? To see things that aren't there? They will not harm the person?"

'Yes, in a way, these dreams are illusions. You control these dreams... At the time you activate the gift, that person will not realise it even after the effect wears off. No, they will not harm... After all, these are just illusions...'

The voice paused for a short moment, 'Some rules for the use of this gift... You cannot set a dream that is more than 3 minutes. You cannot let the same person see a dream within 24 hours from the time you activated this gift on that person. You cannot use this gift for more than 2 times per 24 hours. You cannot use this power on yourself. If any of these rules are ever broken, your life would be in danger. If you disobey that last rule, your eyes will lose its sight forever, although your gift will still exist.'

"What if I break that last rule by accident? By looking into my own eyes in the mirror or something? If that's possible?"

'The answer is that one of your eyes, either left or right, will go blind. Yes, it is possible... That's why you must never let anyone know the weakness of this gift - the mirror, or anything that shows you your own reflection... My time is up... Good luck, Saga... Good luck...'

As the voice faded away, Saga found himself staring into a mirror. He's grown up now... And had discovered something interesting about himself.

A Gift From Ingina

"A necklace?"

"Yep!" Ingina laughed happily, holding out a blue rectangular box with a red bow tied neatly around it. She rubbed Saga's hair with one hand, and stuffed the box into Saga's hands with the other. Without waiting for Saga's reaction, she grinned, "It's a present for you. What is given cannot be taken back!"

"But that's cheating!" Saga blushed, trying to smoothen down his hair. Ever since he grew, Ingina found him to more and more tease-able. In fact, his favourite sister had even started to find joy in tying up his hair into all sorts of weird styles. Once, he found himself with a pigtail, a ponytail, and two braids when Ingina was done fiddling.

Of course, she was still as nice as ever.

"Just keep it." She smiled, walking away to her own room.

Saga looked down at the box, and slowly opened it, taking care not to spoil any of its packaging. There was a beautiful necklace inside. One with a thin and long black chain that will probably allow him to wound it around his neck several times before fastening it in place. A dark blue pendent in the shape of a water droplet hung from it, made of some sort of shiny metal.

Well, he would have to give her something in return.

Family's Like That - Older Brother Zakis

It was a day where there was nothing to do. In the morning, he had woke up in a foul mood - He had a nightmare where he found himself being consumed by flames, and that had unnerved him quite a bit. The worse thing was, he had slept in and missed the best food available at breakfast. Now, all that was left was some cereal and not enough milk left.

It only served to make him grumpier.

During lunch time, he found out that his favourite sister was out with his mother and that means there were only guys in the house, his father included. There was nobody he wanted to play with, and nobody he wanted to talk to. After all, Ingina had been the one taking care of him as he grew up.

Now, it was two in the afternoon. There were clear skies, and a gentle breeze outside. It was a perfect day to go out. Almost everyone voted for soccer at the park, and they left soon after. That leaves Saniiro in the study, Saga in his room, and Zakis in the living room. Three males who have zero interest in soccer, or were too bored to go. For Saga, it was both reasons, and another reason - He was too grumpy to play a game of soccer.

"Saga... Would you like to go shopping with me?"

As the gentle voice broke Saga's thoughts, he found himself glaring at his older brother. Zakis had always been soft-spoken, and as Alucard had said, 'Very easy to tease and bully'. Well, he was an obvious target for Saga's bad mood. Although Saga was normally easy-going, it was different today.

"No!"

"But... There is a sale on games that finishes today..."

"I already said no."

"Okay then... If you change your mind, I'll be in my room."

The white haired boy walked away, looking very dejected. Saga frowned, and bit his lip. He did not mean to snap at him... It just came out. Letting out a sigh, he hopped down from his bed and dragged himself to Zakis' room. Peeking in, he spotted his brother seated at the desk at the corner, and quickly strolled over.

When Zakis turned to look at him, Saga took a deep breath and blurted out, "I'm sorry for snapping at you! I didn't mean it! It just came out and I couldn't stop it! I would love to go shopping with you! I'm really, really sorry for just now! Please forgive -"

"I wasn't angry at you," Zakis smiled, taking Saga by his hand and giving it a squeeze. "I saw that you were in a bad mood... That was why I offered to go shopping. Come on, let's go tell father before we go."

"Okay!"

Saga smiled for real for that day.

Dear Diary,

I was told that Saga went out with Zakis. That came as quite a surprise, since he had always stuck to Ingina and nobody else at home. I saw him with Alucard earlier today as well. Hm... Good things seem to happen whenever I'm out!

I'm going to send Saga over to Fauste's place for a day, since he hadn't met his uncle. I wonder how they'll get along! I mean, this personalities are total opposites! Also, something happened recently, so I was hoping that this visit will cheer him up a bit.

Maybe it will do the opposite instead... Well, let's see and wait to see how it'll go then! Fauste's probably lonely.

http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=8112265

Dear Diary,

Something incredible happened on the day of Saga's visit to Fauste's house... I was told that the dead came back to visit! Although I wasn't there, I was told that Saga handled the situation in a calm manner... I had always thought that he was rather pleasant as a child, but this is a different matter altogether!

It made me wonder what really happened that day.

Another thing was that Saga had fainted on that day. When I took him to see a doctor, I was told that it was probably due to lack of sleep, lack of food, or both. However, I know that it couldn't be either. I made sure that he slept early everyday, and he had always been a rather big eater.

The doctor told me that Saga fainted due to fatigue, and that it was best if I let him eat more 'energy foods'. I took his advice, and Saga had the time of his life eating dinner. He had all sorts of food to pick from, and he finished everything! What a good appetite!

I hope that he's better now...

"My Blinded Right Eye"

Saga gasped, clutching his right eye as he rolled about on the floor of his bedroom in extreme pain. It was in the middle of the night, and everyone else was probably away in dreamland. He held back his screams, and applied pressure on his right eye with both hands. It still hurts... The pain was like having someone trying to dig your eye out, or sticking needles into it.

He had been sleeping a while ago, but had woke up to out to the toilet as he felt mother nature's call. Maybe because he had only used it once, or maybe because he was really tired and didn't concentrate enough, but when he was washing his hands, his eyes came into contact with the mirror. When his eyes met those of his reflections, he saw a dream where he was walking alone in the rain.

He shivered due to the cold, and gave a sneeze. Looking up, Saga saw the clouds part and the rain stopping. When the last drop of rain reached the ground, the sun was seen shining brightly in the sky. It quickly warmed him, and he soon became dry once again. In the horizon, he saw his family waving to him and he broke into a run. As he ran, flashes from his past appeared and passed beside him.

His first meeting with Dragain, the day he went out with Saniiro... When he made his first friend, when he saw snow for the first time, and even when he first made contact with fire. His own life story was playing right before his eyes as his family came into full view. He leaped happily into his mother's open arms...

That's when the dream ended. The dream he had given to himself. He looked at himself in the mirror, his face reflected fear. He had remembered the warning given to him before, when he had first received the gift.

That's when the pain began. He had managed to walk back to his own room, all the while clutching his right eye. The pain had intensified ten-fold by then, and he found himself too weak to walk. He had collapsed on the floor of his bedroom, inches away from his bed. Unable to stand up because of the pain, he had been suffering on the cold, hard floor for about five minutes now.

Sweat trickled down his face, and his shirt was wet and sticky. The boy bit his lower bit, drawing blood. As the first rays of sunlight filtered into his room, the pain slowly subsided. He took in deep breaths, and stood up using his bed as support. He climbed onto the bed and pretended to sleep.

He heard his mother opening the door a while later, and when he was sure that she had left, Saga sat up and dangled his legs by the side of the bed. There was still a mild sting in his right eye. Taking in deep breaths, he slowly stood up and dragged himself over to the mirror at the side of his room. He peered into it, a frown on his lips.

His right eye was now white, while his left eye remained a deep blue. He placed his hand over his right eye, and then proceeded to place his hand over his left eye. The moment his left eye was covered, his vision vanished, and all he could see was a world of darkness... One void of light and colors.

"How am I supposed to explain this to mother?"

Breaking The News

"Saga! What happened to you?" Dragain gasped, a horrified look crossed her features when she saw Saga's right eye. She rushed across the room, and knelled down in front of her son. Putting one hand over Saga's normal eye, she whispered in a worried tone, "Can you see?"

"No, mum... I can't."

Saniiro carried Saga up, and whisked him away as Dragain stood up. She continued with her daily chores. She knew that when Saniiro have that look on his face, it meant that he would not listen to any argument. She had no choice but to act normal despite being concerned; anyway, the kids would panic if they knew that something had happened to their brother. It would be better to not cause an uproar now.

"Care to tell me how that happened?"

"A dream..."

"Saga... What happened? A dream? You do understand that normal dreams will not affect your physical body? Did something happen? You even have dried blood on your lower lip. I can smell it... The wound probably appeared around before sunrise."

Saga paused, frowning a little, "I... Had a dream. In it, something hurt me, and I bit my lip to lessen the pain... I couldn't wake up, but when I did, my eye was already like this. I don't know why, but... I think the dream caused it. The pain was too real to be just a dream..."

Saniiro looked his son in the eye, and gave a sigh. He stood up and walked over, giving his head a gentle pat, "You'll be fine, since you can still see. Go tell your mum that you're alright. She's probably very worried, despite her strong front. If you say that you're alright, she'll feel better."

Saga nodded, and rushed out of the study. His energy had returned, and now that the pain was totally gone, his appetite had returned as well. He peeked into the living room, and ran to Dragain, giving her a hug, "Mum, I'm okay, so don't worry! Dad said that there's nothing wrong."

"That's great, Saga, that's great." Dragain replied, tears swelling in her eyes as she returned the hug.

Saga smiled. He knew that his family would never know the truth... He knew that no matter how much he loved them, he knew that once his parents knew, they would ban him from using his gift. However, he hoped that they would understand his feelings one day.

Until then, they shall remain in the dark.
